Thread Former Retro Studios dev says a Metroid Prime Trilogy Switch port “would take a lot of effort” and is “skeptical” of it happening
I wonder if it would actually be cheaper to just have the game be Physical Only and come with a new Switch compatible Wii-Mote + Nunchuk (and then have Mario Galaxy 2 pop up with compatibility with them).Prime Trilogy would likely sell best as a promotion for Prime 4, so if it did exist and was done and I was Nintendo I wouldn't release it until Prime 4 had a more concrete date. They're making money hand over fist with Switch, doesn't really seem like they'd need to put out Prime Trilogy early. I always assumed if it existed it got delayed when Prime 4 did so they could come out the same year (Trilogy around E3 and Prime 4 around Black Friday).

Thread LttP: Star Wars Rebels
When Rebels was firing on all cylinders it’s one of the best Star Wars anything ever, and it’s a shame it very rarely pulled that off outside season finales and the final season. My issue with it was mostly that it was very clear what its boundaries were and the writers never really seemed to write around them. Lots of dull planets and barren battle stations and none of the heroes can die so eventually you just feel bad for all the poor stormtroopers getting killed by a bunch of people standing in the middle of a room with no cover. Tonal issues everywhere too. Clone Wars maybe had worse episodes here and there but they tended to be episodes that went for something crazy and didn’t pull it off, whereas Rebels would trip over itself screwing up the tone/action in a very basic plot. But dear lord that last season was good, and everything with Thrawn was pretty great too. Once shit got real and they went back to free Lothal I’m not sure any run of TV Star Wars was as consistently good as their last batch of episodes. Also really loved Bendu.

Thread Rank the Scooby-Doo Series
Mystery Inc, Thirteen Ghosts, and Where Are You would be the top tier. Pup and What’s New would be mid-tier with Laffalympics. I haven’t seen Be Cool/Guess Who but I remember as a kid all the other ones varied in quality a LOT based on the episode moreso the series. Generally if Daphne is there it’s good, or at least better than just Scoob/Shaggy/Scrappy. If the whole cast is there at worst it’s just kinda dull. Scooby-Doo/Shaggy/Scrappy just don’t work well on their own.

Thread It's not a "worker shortage;" it's a complete reassessment of the US economy
My job recently started offering bonuses, re-announced raises, and is experimenting with certain shifts giving people more hourly pay than others to entice them into expanding availability. We’re still so understaffed some days that full timers have to come in on days off for coverage as we don’t have enough people to be a cashier (reasonably, who would want a job as a cashier during a pandemic?). It’s hard though. You CANNOT make a living on minimum wage (or the above minimum we pay) without doing multiple jobs. The ideal worker is someone in school, retired, or a stay at home parent who comes in during school hours. ‘Ideal’ meaning those people generally are in it for extra income, not necessary income.

Thread Arwen vs Eowyn: Who was better for Aragorn?
I feel like Eowyn deserves better. Not that Aragorn isn't good, but Eowyn slayed the freaking Witch King of Angmar. She should be able to get whoever she wants, not be strung along by someone with complications (whether that be Arwen or being the King). I like her with Faramir but also think she deserves better than him too. Basically I guess if Eowyn Aragorn than she should get him because she should get whatever she wants at this point.

Thread Rugrats Reboot Series Trailer, Premiering on Paramount+ on May 27th
I feel like there was a clip early on that showed how well the art style could work? The trailer was fine, but doesn’t really show anything spectacular besides just more Rugrats (as opposed to Animaniacs which showed at least some big updates we had to look forward to). Don’t miss Dill but I imagine we could see Kimi pop in later. If this is a reboot they can just introduce them in later seasons, and if it isn’t they can just pop them in with episodes that take place after the movies. I did briefly get excited to watch it but forgot I don’t get Paramount+, though next time Picard is out I’ll watch this during my month or two long subscription.

This may be controversial but I think Community pulled it off pretty well. Especially with the final season, where the two newcomers are just fantastic. I really liked it! I thought they did a phenomenal job making me invested in everyone, had a couple nice twists, and the whole runner about orders and being a good soldier felt deeper than it might have been in lesser hands. They really sell the grey area they’re wading into and the worry of the galaxy. Omega’s eye-like necklace over her forehead makes me wonder if Palps basically put all his strength and savvy into becoming a dictator and then just wanted to slide through the rest of his life without putting in any extra effort. He tries to do the Death Star three different times just hoping it existing will get people to shut up and stop bothering him.

I liked it, but it didn’t ‘quite’ make me sob. I do wish they’d sorta refocused some of the later seasons. That final episode (and arc about the Good Place’s reality) had a lot of potential and depth they could have jumped into. I love the show but it felt after the first two or three twists they seemed more interested in flipping the script and keeping people guessing then letting the show breath as much as it could have otherwise. Actually I do think Chidi leaving made me cry.

I imagine even if it bombs we’ll get another one eventually. Metroid is pretty easy to try new things with and is really unique in their wheelhouse. F-Zero likely died because it didn’t sell well enough to justify having both it and Mario Kart. I’d say the same thing happened with Advance Wars v Fire Emblem but I think Wars might have died before Awakening hit it big.

Excited for this. Forgot it was coming tomorrow. I really hope it smashes it out of the park, I’m a bit weary that with all the live action Mando spin-offs they might not continue with the cartoons much in the future otherwise.Well that’s exciting. I really hope they expand the animation out from the PT era because they otherwise really box themselves in with what stories they can tell between ROTJ/TFA. If they let animation be on equal footing with Mando and it’s spin-offs we could actually see Luke, Leia, and Han outside of rare bits of CGI trickery. To be clear, I’d also be pumped to see the lost Clone Wars arcs as movies, especially that last Boba Fett one.

Fighting game fans would buy it, Marvel fans would buy it, DC fans would buy it, and the hype of it even existing would get people not even into fighting games into it just to see Batman and Spider-Man duke it out. Disney and Pixar do experiment occasionally but it tends to still be within the bounds of the universe of the film, if that makes sense? I think I recall the emotion/soul effects in Inside Out/Soul being incredibly difficult to pull off, they’re just not as in your face as the cool shit Mitchells and Spider-Verse do with changing frames per second and making things look painted. Mara Jade to be coming eventually. She’s the highest profile EU character outside of KOTOR not to make it back yet. I personally really want to see Jorus C’Boath come back. Yes it sure did! To both points, I mean. There’s a shot where they reused jungle footage from an older film and there’s straight up pteranodons in it flying around. Thread How Have You Felt About Marvel Studio's Transition to TV Seires So Far? ( Wandavison / Falcon and Winter Solider Spoilers)
I really enjoyed both but think they needed one more once over before they started filming. WandaVision works really well but it doesn’t quite thread the needle for the ending, made harder by the main plot being something that is pretty obvious what’s going on with. It does really well but I think it could be better. Falcon is really inconsistent. It kind of forgets about Bucky at the end, misuses Walker in the finale, and the Flagsmashers are too sympathetic to work as an arc villain. They needed to cut down on the fat and focus ‘just’ on Sam/Bucky. Throwing everyone else in there just complicated things. The emotional conflict is all about Walker, not the Flagsmashers. They did mostly feel movie quality every week, and that was really nice, and didn’t overstay their welcome like the Netflix seasons tended to.

You said 2001 is the only movie with lasting influence on modern filmmaking and I listed a bunch of movies that have a lasting influence on modern filmmaking. I'm not sure where Paddington fits in. Outside of my joke about the abundance of 'CGI Cartoon Character with live actors' films, which isn't something inspired by 2001. As for 2001 vs Citizen Kane in terms of overall influence, the Citizen Kane influence is primarily in the way the film was created and shot. It's also VERY effects heavy in a way I don't think people then or now truly realize. There's dinosaurs in Citizen Kane.

It’s how I used to find research stuff for college. If you want documentaries I watched the “Let The Fire Burn” documentary about MOVE earlier this morning and it was incredibly well done. I imagine it's because they're digital games? On Steam at least they're referred to as 'Classic' Star Wars, if I recall. If the KOTOR remake is a big deal or sold physically I imagine they'd want to pop a special banner on it so people don't get it confused (either with new canon or High Republic). Of course, maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like very little of KOTOR has been undone by modern canon (considering how old the story is). It's possible they could just make it canon with a few tweaks and not need a special label for it. I assumed I'd have a fun answer for this, but looking at my stats sheet it seems like if I 100% something I do it in the same console generation (usually after the end credits roll instead of moving onto another game first), instead of going back to it later. I think the longest is StreetPass Plaza's puzzles, which I finally finished 100% the year after the Switch came out.

Admittedly we don't know how Falcon and the Winter Soldier will end yet, but it's strange that we don't seem to have an idea of when either character will be back. Wanda is at least in Strange 2. I wonder if we'll see all the TV characters in some sort of team up theatrical movie, though if we're not getting an Avengers-style film I'm not sure how exactly that'd work.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets a surprise rerelease one day. Maybe not in the next few years, but eventually. It’s too solid a game to be forgotten forever, and while it’d need to be rebuilt a lot of the work is done.It might not have sold better on the U but it’d be way easier to port if it was made for it.Eternal Darkness isn’t really alone there, GCN is the only old Nintendo home console besides VB to never be on a Virtual Console service. Hopefully it’ll come around when they finally start porting GCN games in general.

Unless the Star branding works gamgbustets and they think they can get people to sign up for that + Hulu. I think the biggest issue would be original programs for Marvel. The initial intention of the show was that it would be an anthology. You can see this in earlier seasons as they more often star minor characters and jump around in the timeline just to tell cool stories. Later seasons settle in on main characters so you’ll usually have Anakin, Yoda, Ashoka, Obi-Wan, R2/3P0, Maul, Ventress, Padme, Rex, or Jar Jar as the lead in a story. To make things easier for everyone, later seasons also take place (predominantly) in chronological order.

They either have other deals in place like they did with Solo that stop it from arriving as early as Frozen did, or they're holding off a little because the DVD release was impacted. Note that they also didn't super promote the early digital response the way they did Frozen 2: they might not think it'll get people super pumped when it shows up, so they might not think it's worth it to curb what digital sales they'll get before they make it free.

The biggest missing piece in this series is the lack of Death, but at the same time I have NO IDEA how they'd actually integrate him into the narrative. The fun of him in the games was fighting him every time and seeing how he changed and how much he'd kick your ass. Having the literal Grim Reaper show up in the show would be a little insane. The explanation made sense to me, but the writing leading up to it never hinted at it, which made it... just kinda dumb.I don't think so? They look super familiar though. I swear I fought one of those as a boss in one of the GBA/DS games, and then it showed up again as a regular enemy in a later entry, but I can't find it on any of the Castlevania wiki's Beastiarys.Fucking truth. He works well as an ultimate evil that's only brought out on rare occasions to wreck shit (like he was in the DCAU and my impression of him pre-New 52). Like, he was the first big villain in the New 52, then they reused that story for the first DC animated universe film, and now they've essentially reused that story a third time in ten years for this film. X-Files feels like a different beast from something like GoT. The way X-Files is structured ESPECIALLY if you’re more into Monster of the Week stories than the myth arc (like myself) the fall in quality doesn’t really impact how you view earlier seasons. Like, you can just have fun talking about all the good stuff from the first 6-7 years + the occasionally good episodes later and never have to bring up the bad stuff. Versus GoT and puzzle box shows with poor endings which, since they’re more serialised, diminish the good stuff earlier on since it never went anywhere.

They actually did this on Picard (maybe I missed if someone else already mentioned it). It was a fun twist but under-utilised in the show. The problem with over reliance on Holo-Crew is that you can likely shut them off like any other subsystem, so over reliance on them means your foe can focus their effort on shutting down the main holodeck systems instead of actually fighting your army. Although your army could now be velociraptors with phasers for faces and bazookas for tails.

She’s great so this is good news. I REALLY hope this movie can end the franchise on a high note. I hope Lucasfilm has a solid idea of what they want to do with Indy afterwards, though. And by that I mean I want a cartoon sequel of Young Indiana Jones that’s a bunch of anthology episodes of him fighting Nazis in the 40s. Or live action in the same period but only if he’s played by Chris Pine. Chris Pine is the only recast for Indy I’ll accept. (Totally fine with him also having had a daughter to take up the mantle but I think the stories are more fun set in 1910-1950, they lose some of the appeal when they get more modern (just like how Batman is best set in 1940s-1980s). So I’d want the daughter spin offs to be set between Last Crusade and not long after Crystal Skull). Is Harrison Ford just Ron Swanson?

Thread If comic book can have good live action movies, why not games?
The problem is usually the people making the movie either don’t care about the game or care about it too much and throw too much in there. There’s no reason, say, a Star Fox or Metroid movie would run into trouble if someone just took them at seriously and made decent action adventure/sci fi horror films out of them. Star Fox wouldn’t really even need to be altered at all, it’s already a pretty standard space fantasy series. Metroid would need to give Samus someone to talk to, but otherwise just drop her on an alien planet and watch her go to town on the Space Pirates using it as a base. If you’re willing to cut a lot out, Persona 5 is a pretty straightforward adaptation too for a movie trilogy. First film is Kamoshida, second film deals with Makota and Futaba, then the final film is the finale of the game.

And, arguably, mankind the most dangerous thing on the planet, so Godzilla turning on us would probably still be in the planet's best interest were it to ever happen.

Thread CGI that hold up surprisingly or impressively well
Starship Troopers and Davey Jones still baffle me. Like, how the hell did they do so well so early with the former? And for the latter, how is Davey Jones STILL seemingly the best all CGI character out there? I watch a lot of VFX behind the scenes things and I kind of wonder if Jones works so well because he ‘could’ be prosthetics. Like, Rocket Racoon and Groot look real, but we know they’re fake because they look too real. Jones ‘could’ be really intense make up with some embellishments, and because of that our brain is more willing to see him as real versus a clearly not-a-human character. Vision in WandaVision and the Clones in ROTS are kinda similar, they are so close to just being practical our brains (or mine at least) totally forgets they’re fake.

I’m sure there will be some dead period they can pop them into, or do limited showings like they do for anime or classic films in the US. I got to see Raiders a few years back on IMAX, and it was pretty fun. Even if it’s just standard theaters, it’s better than on my TV at home for something like GvK.

Thread Is April Fool’s Day the worst holiday?
April Fool’s Day is really easy to ignore most of the time. And sometimes the jokes are funny. As someone who doesn’t celebrate religious holidays, my vote is for Easter. The candy isn’t as good as other holidays and most things shut down for it, and it seems to be a different day every year, so I always wind up making plans for that day only to realise I can’t do anything because everything is closed. No one at work truly realised Sunday was Easter until yesterday and now we have to scramble to get an entire day’s work crammed into Friday and Saturday. At least it’s a day off, I guess. Xmas and Thanksgiving at least have enough of a cultural impact that they can’t surprise you. The only ‘good’ holidays are Halloween and Arbor Day anyways.

I feel like Vader is a gimme. I wonder if they’ll bring anything from his comics into the show, since one of the newer series took place at the same time this seems to. Actually, having this + Mando + Obi + the rest is going to be really cool as it’s the first time they’ll really get to deep dive into the shared universe. Before they only had the movies and one series going at the same time, now they can pull from and coordinate series and films like they do the comics and books already. Hence Fennec showing up here. This is a very long way of saying I’m REALLY hoping one of these new shows winds up with Aphra.

I love the game but only beat it ten times to feel like I’d actually ‘beaten’ it. It’s fun to come up with new ridiculous combos but by time I was at win five or six I was running a little on fumes, and I was just getting a little annoyed when I would fail a run because a lynchpin boom never dropped. There’s certainly a lot of variables, so you’re seeing new things for awhile even when redoing things (except in the penultimate level, which always seemed to play the same?) but I wish they either reduced some randomness (maybe getting to save loadouts?) or added additional monsters/hazards late in the game.

They’ve done an incredible job.Star Wars is more complicated. The MCU changes things a lot, but it’s essentially just adapting preexisting characters and situations, whereas Star Wars is not really adapting anything that existed before (outside the Thrawn stuff Rebels did and a tiny bit of Boba in Mando). I imagine they figure throwing original IP on for free is a a safer bet: make more new subscribers and let old ones be happy. Whereas with franchises they want to get the most bang and awareness for their buck. At least that's how I'm imagining it. Like, Coco would be free but Toy Story 4 would be $30. Raya/Mulan/Rapunzel could escape or fight their way out if it got bad enough. Thread Metroid or 'Vania; which is stronger overall, 2D Metroids or 2D Castlevanias (Igavanias)?
Metroid games are probably better, but I like Castlevania more. Castlevania has way more variety in combat, enemies, and aethetics compared to Metroid games. Metroid generally seem to hit the same notes over and over again (with the outliers 'mostly' being in the Prime series). It's kinda like Raiders of the Lost Arc versus Last Crusade. Raiders is a better movie, but Crusade is a way more movie. I appreciate Metroid when I'm playing it but I long to run around a castle fighting weird skeletons kicking soccer balls at my face.

I managed to beat Persona 5 and Sekiro before I was forced out of lockdown, then realised that outside of a few games, my backlog was my backlog because what was left was games I didn't really enjoy and vowed henceforth to not force myself through games just for the sake of completing them. Unwound Future also made me sob so we’re in that together. It’s insane a game with that utterly ridiculous a twist and overall plot line could still still pull off that emotional gut punch. I don’t recall people calling it the peak? The series is weird because the QOL, content, and puzzles often felt like they were improving with each entry while the actual plot tended to get more absurd and hard to take seriously, so it kinda evened out.

Mega Man Classic seems like a good pick. Some entries are more popular than others but I’ve never been aware of a true black sheep in the line-up. Professor Layton ‘might’ qualify too. Games 2-6 are all various degrees of ‘not as good as Curious Village’ but I don’t recall any of them being singled out. The black sheep of mainline Pokemon alters constantly as people who grew up with each entry get older. I’d say it’s Ruby/Sapphire because there’s too much water but nowadays that’ll get me flayed alive. So it’s debatable if there really is a black sheep at all.

These make sense. I wonder if COVID hit them hard but they wanted the Diamond/Pearl remakes for the 25th, realised it’d be too much work to remake the games in SwSh style like you two implied, and then split it into two games. Legends not needing to stick to D/P exactly means they can adjust it better to the realities of current development, especially since it’s possible it’ll have a much smaller Dex.

Thread Will MCU Magneto keep the Holocaust back story?
I'm sure they could find an excuse for him to still be alive but have that backstory. We already have Hydra experimentations in canon, plus he could come from a different part of the multiverse/timeline. It really depends on how they want to integrate the X-men cast into the MCU. What they should really think about is creating a Captain America situation for him that's future-proof. Captain America has a similar situation but, if Wikipedia is correct, they created the 'frozen in ice after WW2' thing about twenty years later, and now that's an iconic part of his character. If they find a way to future proof Magneto like that, they can then fix this problem into the future for any other adaptations or alternate universes. Also I am 100% on board for Magneto-as-the-hero movies.

When Rebels is firing on all cylinders it's a sight to behold.I feel like my problem with Rebels was that for awhile it struggled getting tone right due to being aimed at a younger demographic. You can definitely do it right, looking at stuff like Gravity Falls, Over The Garden Wall, and Ducktales (2017), but Rebels took forever to figure out how to balance things, so you'd get these theoretically intense plots or ideas tossed out that often felt toothless in execution due to lack of budget or bad tonal shifts.

Personally, in terms of the canon cartoons, I'd say Clone Wars is allover the map in terms of quality but it's highs are REALLY high and it gets better and better with each season, Rebels is never as good or as bad but takes way longer to get amazing, and Resistance seems to be incredibly consistent at being 'that was ok' (though I haven't seen Season 2 yet). Once Season 3 hits in Clone Wars the only episodes that aren't great, if I recall, are ones that tried to do something utterly insane and didn't pull it off. I don't remember Rebels getting good outside of season premiers/ends until the Rogue One crossovers started happening, and even then only the last season got close to the highs of Clone Wars.

Yes.Double yes. With the two GOATs covered, some deeper cuts from Criterion I adore: The Human Condition Trilogy (1959) Is it possible for man to be good? Is it possible for war to be just? An idealistic Japanese man is sent to Manchuria and determines he will run a slave labor camp in a morally right way. Things go poorly. Twenty-Four Eyes (1954) A new teacher watches as her students, and Japan, deal with the some of the most traumatic decades in modern history. Starts off as a cute family movie then spirals rapidly as things go from bad to worse. Kwaidan (1964) Do you like ghost stories? Do you like art? Well I got art all over your ghost stories, I hope you like them. Dawson City Frozen Time (2016) A bunch of old nitrate films found in a frozen pool tell the story of the twenty first century, America, and the creation and evolution of film itself. A Legend or Was It? (1963) What if Harakiri was a scathing rebuke of wartime civilian submissiveness to authority? And had female leads? Moonlight Serenade (1997) I saw it described as ‘Titanic but Japanese’ and it kinda is, an epic and sprawling historical drama about a family trying to go back to normal after WW2 (and spend a lot of time on a boat). Under the Blossoming Cherry Trees (1975) Do not look up anything just watch it. And just real quick recommendations: Picnic at Hanging Rock, The Thick Walled Room, Morning for the Osone Family, Fantastic Planet, Farewell to Dream, I Live In Fear, Narayama, Ugetsu, Dear Zachary, M, and Carnival of Souls.

I thought destructive weapons was a brilliant idea, personally, and adored it.That's the whole point. There's tons of systems in place and we don't have to use them in the original game because gear is often over powered. By making it less over powered you'd actually have to use game systems more and get more out of the game in return. Cold enviroment? Put on your best jacket but your health will still slowly drain if you're out too long, so hopefully you brought a lot of snacks to beef up your health killed a bunch of fire chu chus and can hold their jelly for warmth use your fire arrows on a tree to light it on fire and warm yourself take refuge in a cave to get out of the cold and explore inside for a bit collecting more food to keep going. Hot enviroment? Your cooling outfit has really poor defense and all your heavy weapons just make it worse. Time to get creative. Maybe find a big metal door to drag around with you for shade, collect bottles to store water in to cool off, maybe that ice wizzrobe staff will keep you cool if you use it as your main weapon, maybe the ice your wizzrobe staff will melt into small pools that you can cool off in.

Those systems exist because they're kinda the whole point of the game. If you're avoiding them you're kinda avoiding the reason the game exists as it is.Agreed. I'd tend to hoard 1 of every weapon I liked most and not use it until I found a duplicate. I'd also be ok if they allowed you to pick up broken weapons and get them repaired, if it made other people happy that there was a way to get weapons back eventually.

A lot of the cool minutia of this game is never needed because you can eventually just get a coat or something that makes extreme temps irrelevant after a small bit of exploration. If clothing damage was a thing (or if clothing was simply not as strong against extreme weather) you'd wind up having to find ways of being more creative.

Yeah this makes sense. Like, the clothing should have some sort of drawback. It would make sense that even the warmest outfit wouldn't keep you safe from a blizzard forever, and that outfits for extreme heat would eventually deteriorate and need to be repaired. The fact that otherwise resources are not infinite would require and allow for more experimentation, as opposed to a 'I'll just keep doing this one thing over and over again' that could happen otherwise.

It does kinda make sense if it's accurate that an executive who grew up in the 90s pushed it through. If they're using nostalgia and aren't super aware of how the games are now, I could see them going 'it was fine back then' and no one pushing back on it.

Thread Manga has been praised for having a consistent writer, but what I like about American comics is seeing different takes on characters and stories
One of the things that soured me on American comics was how poorly the supporting casts were treated during writer change offs. If your incredibly lucky the next writer will phase them out before the next next writer forgets them entirely. It’s hard to get attached to side characters when you know they’re likely going to abruptly disappear really soon.

Wii Fit Trainer in Smash Ultimate. I ‘sorta’ mained her in Smash 4 too, but got really good with her in Ultimate, helped in part by almost NO ONE else playing as her, so I could usually get a few wins in on better players before they figured out a counter. Thread Which Hyrule Warriors Game Was Better?
This is really hard for me. I love both but... The original had moments that just annoyed the crap out of me. Bosses that constantly repeated and were just repetitive to fight, really hard to figure out retro maps that didn't value the player's time, and if I recall didn't it take until the 3DS/Switch editions for you to be able to swap partners? Calamity has some really fun movesets and is super streamlined by comparison. I don't think I ever got frustrated at a level unless I went in knowingly underprepared/it glitched on me. That being said, it gets a little same-y quicker than the original did. I don't like how a lot of side missions limit you to one or two characters while Fire Emblem Warriors had nearly every mission available with not just a team of four but with back up units. I imagine my favorite would be the Switch edition of the original, but I only played the Wii U version.

Thread Which Nintendo series has been handled the WORST?
It's gotta be Star Fox, right? They canned a nearly complete sequel, have now done 2 (?) reboots of the same game instead of new stories, a bunch of really experimental games that moved away from why people liked the core games, etc. Pretty much all what the OP said. Paper Mario is a runner up but the series has altered so much with each entry it's hard to tell what a 'core' Paper Mario game is. F-Zero would probably be next but it kinda makes sense that Nintendo just doesn't feel a desire for two racing games even if they are super different. Metroid had a bump in the road with Other M/Federation Force but it was doing great before that and with Samus Returns and Prime 4 it should be back on track. Earthbound seemingly ended on it's own creator's terms and Mother 3 seems like it has a bunch of complicating factors for the West (but the series gets a ton of love in Smash Bros.). Yoshi and Donkey Kong are doing great, and have mostly been doing great since they started.

After a few attempts I just gave up. Father G I eventually beat in Bloodborne by over-leveling like crazy and getting lucky. The Ted Cruz thing is funny because it shows he understands Star Wars as much as he understands Watchmen or Avengers. Which is not at all.We still don't really know the timeline for things. Mando S2 was written before S1 premiered and before this became a bigger issue. It's possible they were already trying to phase her out, but were going to just try and ignore it and not acknowledge it, but she crossed a line and they had enough.I wouldn't think the writing would be that far along, considering it's still three series and over 1.5 years out minimum. If she was going to be the lead, that's trouble, admittedly, but it's not like they can't create a new character or borrow someone from the EU (Disney or otherwise). My impression is that they're saying they weren't going to be working her in the future anyways and after these posts they want to make that absolutely clear. It's not 'we fired her because of this' it's 'we hadn't renewed her contract and what she's saying is abhorrent so we never will.'

I’d do the nickel thing just cause Manson is an absolute asshole and I wouldn’t want to be associated with him in any way. I’m on the first choice for the other two. For people struggling over the grave thing, for anyone to care you’d have to argue that: 1. Ghosts are real. 2. Their souls are linked to their flesh cocoons and they actually know where they’re buried. 3. They would find it insulting. If ghosts ‘are’ real I don’t think they’d be linked to their bodies unless they were murdered in that spot and buried there, which I guess is fair for this example... but still. If they’re pissed off and haunt you all you have to do is solve their murder and it’ll be fine.

I think the preservation/piracy divide would be easier to deal with if people actively preserving games for that purpose limited who had access to the ROMs in the same way museums don’t just let people walk home with dinosaur bones. Realistically the law needs to change and there needs to be organisations lobbying for changes that enforce preservation and accessibility. Gaming preservation is far more complex than for any other media and there has to be a big organisation that can take the reins on fixing it.
