Thread Amnesty International regrets distress caused by it's report on Ukrainian Military's endangering of civilians, but stands by its findings
I can assure you it would be met with the same "but the context" comments in a lot of places. The point is that we can't dismiss human rights concerns over PR.

I think there's a difference between saying that the article has flaws and could be wrong because of it, and saying that they shouldn't report it because it hurts PR. Other users have worded in much better ways why the article itself isn't entirely wrong to be posted, and as such it's something up for discussion. Completely dismissing it or, worse, the whole international organization, because it hurts PR is not a position people should be taking in something as senstitive as Human Rights.

Nah, the fault was completely on the booking. Throwing him against Adam Cole killed his run. His feud with Danielson, then the short one with Lance Archer was completely fine. Then Adam Cole came and no one believed it was a credible threat, yet it was his longest feud. His second actual threat was CM Punk and he lost to just one GTS. All but that last match were absolute bangers.

My point still stands. There are always problematic elements in organizations that heavily deal with subjects such as this. Criticism should be pointed at them, or the report, rather than the organization as a whole, specially when they are specific chapters and this can become a trend that hurts other places in the world.

Thread Amnesty International regrets distress caused by it's report on Ukrainian Military's endangering of civilians, but stands by its findings
Much better worded than what I can say. This isn't a videogame or entertainment company executive saying some shit and one deciding not to buy or watch stuff from them. Starting to dismiss the whole organization is super dangerous. Amnesty International has published multiple reports on Russia's human rights abuses and that hasn't stopped them from doing it. Not publishing this report wouldn't stop Russia from bombing them. Countries that help and support Ukraine won't stop because of Amnesty saying this. Countries still support Israel for example, despite all the reporting done on their human rights abuses. But engaging in disregarding AI as ideological or "picking sides" over one (one, just one) report on Ukraine can spread like wildfire in public opinion.

Well yeah, perhaps I should be more specific about criticism being fine but dismissing the whole organization as being the dangerous path. Specially when they've been covering Russia's actions pretty consistently. In that sense, burning it all down because of one report on Ukraine is rather irrational.

I find quite headscratching, and dangerous, to start dismissing human rights reports when they don't fit a particular viewpoint. I can understand criticizing lack of "context" and whatnot, but going full into "AI is now shit, I won't support them anymore" when they've been internationally consistent in reporting against everyone regardless of political ideology and spectrum seems kinda radical and missing the the forest for the trees. We should all be veeeeery careful when threading these waters. Specially on an historical time when tyrants, who are very quick to dismiss these organizations as ideological when it doesn't suit them, are pretty much up there as runner ups to offices all over the world.

Thread Amnesty International regrets distress caused by it's report on Ukrainian Military's endangering of civilians, but stands by its findings
Well, we can discuss those technicalities while still not dragging the whole AI into the ground. And that's the thing, this is not about "benefit", it's about reporting. There are several steps people can take, and they aren't mutually contrarian. You can take the report and consider that perhaps Ukraine could do better in protecting their civilians, while still knowing and acknowledging that it's Russia's fault. You can also criticize the report and consider it wrong while keeping a nuance towards AI as a whole. You can also take the report into account while denouncing the chapter's problematic members. We weren't talking about biases or problematic memebers when AI was talking about massive None of this has to be done with other "benefits" in mind than suggesting ways of protecting human lives and human rights.

I half agree, I think Dynamite is a safe watch because shows are mostly good with great matches, but I do feel the lack of direction. Seems like they're getting somewhere with BCC and JAS at least. Hangman being thrown to the side has been such a bummer. With Punk gone one would have assumed he would've gone for the championship with all he's got but... I don't know if he will, but I think he should. You can either do Jericho Punk at All Out, or a rematch or vs a new opponent and it'll be much more interesting. I really love Mox, but I feel that the Interim championship feels too hard to believe in anyone winning it before Punk. Jericho taking it will bring that uncertainty into the title scene. Also I don't think that making the world titles long reigns as a mandate is a good idea. Sometimes it's cool to see championship change hands sooner than later.

Thinking that AEW's TV deal is in trouble is hyperbole. Dynamite being consistent in the top spot (or spots) keeps it safe. I don't know what will be of Rampage though, it was mortally wounded by the time shifts and the boring booking of it. Rosa vs Deeb was a contender (at least) for MOTN during the Revolution 2022 PPV. It's not really her fault that Tony Khan absolutely sucks in booking the women. The division has been an absolute bad joke for how long now? How long was the Deeb vs Shida feud missing between their encounters and the final match? Then everyone was asking why people wasn't invested on it. Having Rosa losing on Revolution with a feud that was a year on the making but was barely built in the previous weeks, just because Tony wanted that hometown win and "long term storytelling", when you could have had Rosa win on Revolution and just give them a rematch on San Antonio and NOT KILL THE MOMENTUM OF YOUR FUTURE CHAMPION. Then Rosa is not that good of a promo, which is fine. Book her around that. Give her material that suits her. Book to her strenghts, not her weaknesses. Don't bring Britt who's the best in the mic in the division and one of the most over women to overshadow her. Give them separate storylines. All of this would be easier if they would give the women more time. But they don't. And, somehow, we ask ourselves what's wrong with those segments feeling underwhelming and place the blame on the women themselves? when you're putting because only get to be featured in the entire show so they gotta make it count? I don't think anyone is trying to put down the few women's wrestling we get on Dynamite, but there is a bias against their matches and feuds, and people should start to check how they're approaching watching women's wrestling and criticizing it, specially on AEW.

Right now, while I know it's going to be an amazing match, I know Rush is going to lose and that takes away from the excitement of a championship match. I'd say the same of the Rosa match, but at least there was the eliminator match and it helps in the build. lmao why would that be a thing? Do you seriously believe it's such a serious thing to be "wrong" over something like this? go back to my original post. I said that it wasn't the inventor, but we would be kidding ourselves in saying that PT was completely irrelevant, even if the reason is that it was Silent Hills. Then I made a joke about people who shit on PT and some people, for some weird reason I can't point to anything else but just usual internet hyperbole, felt this was a huge insult to their families. Lol ok mate, PT has been irrelevant since day one. You're completely right. The bolded is the entire point of PT being important. It's not just an ERA (or GAF, or Reddit, or whatever) thing to not pay attention to other stuff. It's normal, it happens even in the mainstream. PT was important because it attratacted people from outside the fans of the subgeneres. It's not exclusive to videogames either, it happens with movies and music, that there are "ambassador" artists (or arts) that bring people into subgeneres and opens the gates into more stuff. Yes, of course, I never cared for the "hallway defenseless horror", or whatever, subgenre. It was PT that made me pay a bit of attention to it. I'm not alone in that. Becoming game that "bursts the bubble" is the entire point. And that happened all over different communities at the time. I insist, the fact that people mistaken PT for an inventor or the first of its kind is not just "oh it's just that people were on a bubble before", it's the entire point of being an important (almost) game that helped bringing people, people that the other games failed to bring in for whatever reason. I think that some people just don't realize that being popular among the "kids" is one thing, and being cross-generational is another thing. That was PT at the time. That's why we still talk about what could have been, etc.

I know that's a differentt comparison, but the idea is that we can't overvalue neither casuals, or our "bubbles", if we want to talk about how relevant or important a certain something is. You know, I'm not entirely sure it's a bubble thing really. PT was really really big because of the intense quick word of mouth it got and then the explosion of actually being a Teaser for Silent Hills. But shit like Lisa and the baby and the weirdness of the game was def something that helped it being a hip thing for the moments it wasn't a teaser. It had that "it" factor that some games have from time to time. The cancellation of the project only cemented the fact that people that wasn't into these genres could be interested in experiences like these. PT helped the genre a lot to cross from a subgenre and bringing new people. I do agree that the fact that it tried to hide under the box of an already popular genre (ah, get it?) shows that it was a big genre from before. But I think that even being big, it became bigger or more "mainstream" (god I hate that word) with PT and it's cancellation.

Of course it's childish. That was the point. I'm not the one saying people should do "their research" over a damn game. In the later years of this hobbies, even the more nicher games can get very popular. Look at how big the "historical simulator grand strategy" genre is, and I still bet you it's like, what, 5% of enthusiasts that actually know a lot of that genre? The point is: people care way too much about this. OP was wrong, but it largely doesn't matter. And the fact that people think that PT was a revolution and invented a genre shows how much PT made its mark into gaming as a whole. No, it's the kids that are out of touch!

Sure, but why getting worked over someone who just didn't care about "doing research" over something as irrelevant as this? Like, it's not their fault that the other games didn't leave as big of a mark as PT did. That on itself says a lot. I don't see that. I'm a mod in this forum, of course I'm weird.

Yeah the Ranking system is just a way to make you believe in wins and loses, but it's obviously something that in the "big picture" booking doesn't matter. I mean FTR has been N°1 contender for months, and Moxley wasn't in the Top 5 and suddendly was the N°1 contender Tanahashi had an eliminator match against someone who wasn't the champion, to face Moxley, that makes more sense (or those battle royales). This is dumb. It doesn't really matter in the end (as most rules in wrestling), but I've never liked the idea behind these things. Neither in WWE or anywhere else.

What is it with these dumb "beat the champion to face the champion" matches being a thing in AEW now? It is stupid in WWE and it's stupid in AEW too. If you beat the champion, you should be the champion, not the N°1 contender. Oh well, at least they'll be good matches.

That kind of hyperbole isn't even toxic, it's, honestly, just dumb and it comes from taking these things seriously.

It's true that for those of us more to the left, these politicians aren't as we would like, but it's also important to remember that they are transitional presidents. If you swing a country too hard there's a lot of chances of things going awful. They will be subject to legitimate criticism and will do stuff that people will oppose. Thread I believe Apex Legends' ping system was the most revolutionary advancement in the FPS genre last gen
Lol no. What I'm saying is that Battlefield's ping system is nothing like Apex's. Before BFV, Battlefield's system was just spamming the button to mark doritos and vehicles. In BFV it moved onto placing a marker and maybe saying that there are enemies in the area. At best, BF let's you say that you need ammo or health (and be totally ignored by your teammates because either they don't care or the system isn't as clear as you'd like). Apex's system actually lets you say stuff that's contextual for the current match you're on. It also varies according to the character. For example, Bangalore gives you info about the weapons when she pings them. Octane lets you know that the backpacks don't influence your movement speed. And again, it's sensitive to what's already happening. When you ping enemies, the voicelines also tell how far they are. If you ping an open door that none of your teammates opened, it warns that there have been enemies nearby. You just can't do it in Battlefield. You were only able to place doritos on enemies, and at best, in BFV, just place a generic marker over that basically says nothing.

Thread I believe Apex Legends' ping system was the most revolutionary advancement in the FPS genre last gen
Nope, BF's works for the game it is for, but Apex's is far more contextual. While in BF you can mark enemies and vehicles, and give some commands, Apex's is sensitive to what's going on in the game. From pinging doors to say there have been enemies in the zone before, request specific items, announce movements, tell if an enemy is being revived, etc. You can actually communicate with another player, if that other player also knows how to communicate with it. It's really good.

Like dude it's the same show where we cheer for The Acclaimed entrance even though they work as heels and boo them accordingly during the match. The show after two top babyfaces wrestled each other to half the people loud booing the other half even though both of them are incredibly loved by both halves. It's a story in which we could end up booing Tony Khan and still love the company becasue they would be doing a story we actually like and saw developing for a long long time. Punk's pipebomb was also supposed to be a heel move, but he ended up being a face because surprise surprise, people liked genuine stuff. It wasn't that what buried WWE, it was the companies dumb decisions over the years and insulting the fanbase. AEW is not gonna do that. Tony is often dumb but not in that way.

Yeah I'm still pissed Punk won lol Checking social media comments on their posts in Facebook and Instagram has been pretty interesting. People are as 50/50 on his win as they were during the night. A lot happy, a lot uncomfortable that he went over Hangman of all people. He went over every single major young AEW own stars, and then winning clean over the 3-year built Hero champion, and arguably the best babyface top star champion we've had since the original Cena run in 2005. Hangman's feuds were good, but I think his feud with Cole was too boring and dragged it down. However he only had good title defenses. Good to great, even. Better than most of them deserved to be. Punk now has the biggest responsability of his whole career: provide proof that he going over everyone is worth it, and different than when he complained about it in the other place. My MOTN was absolutely Deeb vs Rosa. That feud had a very akward build, but did they overdeliver a great wrestling match. They absolutely did. I'm not too sure. Battlepasses usually work on FOMO but that's how it is. I stopped opening most of the loot boxes a some weeks ago (maybe two months at best?) and have about 30+ there, so I'm really not too sure about them having starving players to purchase them. FOMO with Fortnite battle pass is much stronger. Because if you don't have it you're gonna basically miss the entire point of it being a platform for cross-media stuff. You can pick stuff to unlock which is cool, but it's still locked based on playing a lot and that's just the usual thing. I have no idea about Bloodhunt so that's good at least. I mean, it's not that Apex is super open with its stuff, just that it doesn't really pushes you to spend money. I have only spent on a battle pass several seasons ago and always get a lot of stuff plus the coins to renew the next pass, and it's been like 3 or 4 seasons in a row I haven't completed. Always have enough materials to craft a skin I really like, etc. Barely a splash screen that tells you to visit the store. Yuuuup. It's a worse movie than Rise, but far more enjoyable because at least it tried to do something. There are some cool stuff here and there. I love Kamino, the Coruscant chase, some of the (CGI) shots of the battle of Geonosis are cool (like the explosion - sandstorm transition), and I do like Yoda jumping all over the place.

I really felt them being super focused and nervous as they started their gig here a couple of weeks ago. It was their first tour date and the first time getting out of the US after the pandemic, so they - and James specially - must have struggled a lot with these insecurities. They loosened up as the concert went on, but you can tell they were really concerned in playing right (maybe specially since the anniversary event had a lot of issues). One of the highlights of managing to get to the front row was watching that human aspect of them. They played and sounded great though. I left absolutely impressed at how well they did this time. I love that they're way more open about this stuff. It helps them and it helps normalizing the struggles we go through.

I understand having her not being hurt in the end can be seen as making Marina look weak, but no, Jad had to be dominant by the end because I think Marina/Jade was the match of the week for me. I didn't but as other mentioned, it isn't a "big" win when Darby, Sting, friends and the AFO has been battling around for a long time already and it's becoming the same thing every time. That previous match was very good until the interference and shenanigans ending. Which is fine on itself, but we've seen it too much. I just want Darby vs Andrade making each other look amazing and end the thing without the AFO and Sting or friends. Agreed on the other stuff though. But I guess they didn't want to remind us too much that Cole has been a geek that only wins by cheating and then care about him making the announcement of the NJPW stuff.

But I really want AEW to push beyond their current state and dominate in ratings and stuff. Like, I won't say that they shouldn't do this show, because there's 0 reason NOT to do a joint event - specially considering that it may actually generate more buzz and I don't know yet -, but I would also like to see AEW do stuff that reaches new audiences and keep growing. *puts on heel cap* Last night Dynamite didn't do much for me, but it was okay. Positives: + Punk vs Dusty was solid, very old school stuff. Poped for Hangman, and as soon as I had them both in my screen I realized I'm full into Cowboy Shit and will be pissed if Punk wins. + Danhausen and Hook is working, because Danhausen is great and Hook is cool as fuck. The pairing makes absolute sense when you stop and think about it. + Trios match was great. Always love to see the BCC kicking heads, but it was nice to see some resistance. Regal on commentary is always an extra plus. +Wardlow and MJF. Enough said, but this is the best thing going on next to BCC right now. + Next week's Dynamite looks to be great. I hope Sammy gets wrecked. Looking forward for Dax vs Cash. "Meh": . I don't care much for the NJPW + AEW announcement. I mean, I'm sure it'll be great, but since personally I'm not invested in NJPW it's hard for me to care much. I'm totally open for them to sell me the PPV and will buy it most likely. I just need them to make me really care beyond "having bangers". . While Britt promo's instantly reminded me why she is so important to the product and why so many criticism around her makes me scratch my head, their match was pretty meh and short. I've already voiced my opinion on the state of the division. I just really hope that the Owen's tournament improves this. . Darby vs Andrade was below my expectations. Maybe it's my fault for having expectations. First half of the match (the cluster fuck) was fun, but I am TIRED of seeing this week after week after week. Seriously, there should have been a stipulation of "everyone banned from ringside" so we can allow both Darby and Andrade to shine together. The rest of the match was eh. I didn't care by that point. Negatives: - I almost fell asleep during the Jungle Boy match. Seriously, I just couldn't get into the match. I blame you, - They cut Andrade's fantastic Final Boss entrance. Fuck you, Tony Khan. Also Fuck You for giving Darby the win. - Anything else I already forgot from last night.

The most interesting things happens around the Joker and the way his mind interprets them is what makes the overall story work. I've only seen the movie being trashed here on Era. But 1- That's what "give them more time" means. How can there be stories and characters when they have a combined less than 30 minutes of TV time a week in a 3 hour space? 2- How can then people get to enjoy matches when there are two a week, at best, and they last nothing? When we've had great matches there has been nothing following them to make people stay caring because they don't get enough time. It's as simple as that. We had Anna, Tay, Bunny and Penelope having a story and ending it in an amazing match and then... nothing? And now Tay is with PVZ in the worst feud AEW has to offer around the men. We had the 5 minutes professor challenge and then Shida poped and then... nothing? Right now the women's division is booked as something that matters less than the rest of the show, of course the audience won't care. It's WWE booking - minus the mysoginistic emphasis on T&A thankfully - at its finest.

Like, what year is it lol It's not really that complicated. Give them more time. Give them something meaningful to do. Pair more experienced women with less experienced so they can improve. Stop signing so many men talent and start signing more good women wrestlers. You know, show that you care about the division and invest in it? If WWE, of all places, despite everything wrong they still do with the division, could do it, there's 0 reaons why AEW can't other than the people in charge doesn't have the same faith in them.

I personally felt the pacing a bit off, I would've switched some of the matches but.. eh, it's just me being picky dicky. - God I love Hangman Page as the babyface champion. Dude's really cowboy shit. Sick and tired of your shit so I'm gonna beat your ass in a texas deathmatch. Good way to end a boring feud. - Max Caster's rap was so good. I marked at the "we beat you in ratings while you were their champ" bit. Samoa Joe looked as a monster as he should. Really solid stuff - Tables match was enjoyable, I don't usually like Tables matches because it's stupid that the most interesting part of the match is also the one that's going to end the match, but they made it work with the "offensive maneuver" bit. Not great, but good. - God I love Shida. Crowd was a bit down for that match, but Shida always makes them pop. She's so amazing. I also liked Julia in the match. The heel persona fits her very well. - Jade is a million dollar star. Never let her go, Tony. - FTR vs Bucks was amazing. FTR are so so so good. Glad they won. - Marked for the chilean flag, because of small town/country energy. Thank you weird person that brings a flag to the show. Hyped as fuck for Rampage. Bring it on!

I honestly wouldn't be so fast in saying how bad it'll go. While chances are clearly in favor of that happening, we're in a bit of a weird spot. WWE is promoting matches and segments with anticipation, now even a week ahead, something they didn't for a long, long time. During the past few months there were fewer disqualifications and shenanigans, etc. and I'm pretty sure all of this is because of competition. Could just have been something because of Road to Wrestlemania and they'll fuck up? Totally. But there's also a chance that they're afraid of the competition, and I'm very sure that this has something to do with those small but effective changes. Even if it goes down, it could stay higher than before. Who would've thought that promoting your shows, having good matches and complete finishes was a good thing.

AEW has so many people, so many stuff going on, that it's pretty easy to get lost. If you miss a couple of episodes you're left behind, as simple as that. Quick Wrestlemania thoughts: As I imagined, Night 1 was much better and actually pretty good. If you cut most uninteresting stuff, and took those three main things from day two, it was just one night needed. I rather have two 4+- hours than one 7 hours one but... this year it was totally unbalanced. Anyway, it was fun overall, but the ending of Night 2 destroyed every sense of satisfaction you could have had from the show, which was already low given that night 2 was very meh. Knoxville vs Sami was match of the night. Yeah. Night one though, very well done. Cody vs Rollins, Bianca vs Becky, Charlotte vs Rhonda and Austin vs Owens, all of them were good and right for what they needed to be. I was surprised by the Charlotte vs Rhonda match, they worked stiff and that made it work. Glad Charlotte won. Fuck Rhonda. The Mysterios vs Paul Miz match was also decent and fun. Overall, night one was more than acceptable. Night two, my god. Most matches were ok, but they really didn't made you care at all. Knox vs Sami, very good spots, I laughed my ass off, very worth the watch. Main even sucked major ass, and I imagine that pic of an injury had to do something about it but even then, all that build for the same match as always with a boring finish. I never grade stuff, but Night 1 was a 7/10, enjoyable event. Night 2 was a 3/10. It could have been a 6 if the main event had been good.

I'm kinda conflicted with these type of Rampage. On the one hand, it's packed and it'll be really fun. On the other, because of being packed, it'll probably be full of weird cuts and no entrances which sucks the fun out of a wrestling show. On the one hand, it has Powerhouse vs Keith Lee which is hype as fuck, unpredictable and both stars are believable to win. On the other, the rest of three matches, while probably good, have an obvious outcome which has become too much the norm. AEW wants me to care about wins/loses but I can't if you keep giving people matches that they'll obviously lose (looking at you, Dark Order). I'd be very surprised if Top Flight beat the Young Bucks. The others I can't even consider the possibility, regardless of the near falls I'm sure I'll see.

Alright PC Era, need some of your wisdom. Built a mini ITX system, having an issue with the GPU, seems to be driver related but, as you'll read, it's a bit weird. PC Specs CPU: i3 10100 MB: Asus ROG b460-I RAM: XPG Spectrix D50 2x8gb 3000Mhz GPU: Zotac 1060 6 gb Mini PSU: Seasonic SGX 500W Gold Storage: a basic 120gb ssd I use to test systems The problem I'm having is that the display gives a black screen under Displayport, and very ocational flickers, while with HDMI I can go through the BIOS, safe mode, everything except getting into windows where it gives the same problem. Did some DDU, reinstall driver and the problem, while better, persists. It gets better because, after the DDU and driver reinstall, I can get into Windows, but when I open a window the screen flickers for a bit until you can see again. And then if you open a browser, it just goes to black until you close the browser. So, reinstalling the drivers made it better, but it still had issues. With Displayport plugged, the Motherboard lights the "VGA problem" light, with HDMI it doesn't light the led. Tested the same system with a GTX 750 that uses HDMI, and it gives 0 issues whatsoever. That discards the PCIe port. Tested the same GTX 1060 with my main rig (R7 5800x, 32gb Ram, 750w PSU), 0 issues. Stress tested and everything, no issues. That discards the GPU being faulty. Through the iGPU I can get a signal, though it can be a bit tricky to get the displayport to work, but that specific issue seems to be a thing with the power cycles of my monitor (a M27Q Gigabyte monitor). Which discards the Mobo and CPU. What I haven't done and plan to do little by little this week: - Reinstall windows completely - Do DDU, then plug the GTX 750 to install its older drivers, to then plug the 1060 to see if it works with those older drivers, and then update - Test with another PSU in the ITX system, which the sole thought of it makes me lazy as hell What else can I do to narrow down the issue?

Yeah, actually he was so rejected as the top babyface, that it ended up being the top heel. The only issue is that WWE pulled the trigger way, way, waaaaay too late with his turn. WWE sometimes has good stuff, and Roman is probably the only star (and Lesnar) being properly written, even if barely, it's just that it doesn't matter anymore. Even then, there aren't many people hated as much as HHH was and Roman is. Fully agree on the list. The WM28 and 30 are probably my favorites. Though that Street fight, then Hell in a Cell is such a good one-two punch. Also agree on the worst matches. That Booker T program is really one of the lowest points of the last 25 years of wrestling. Seeing Ali saying this is quite interesting

You can, to be sure: - Check if the PC has all the ram it should (like looking at the properties of your PC, it should say it there). There's always the chance of not being well instaled. - Use MSI Afterburner while playing. It allows you to read stats of the pc while you are playing, to keep an eye on the temperatures and usage of your components. - Do a stress test with stuff like AIDA64 and Haven (or 3DMark)

Triple H was, at the very least, very (deservedly) controversial, but lately there has been this revisionism in that HHH was never a draw and stuff. Like yeah he wasn't at Austin/Rock/Cena levels, but he's probably the best and most top-heel star WWE has had until Roman Reigns. The reign of terror kinda sucked but culminated in putting Dave Batista over soooo.... yeah. Sucks for him. I'm glad he's okay at least. His last match (I think) was precisely against Batista and it was pretty fun. Wish he had an actual retirement match, but anyway. Sometimes it just can't be.

So in Latin America they swapped the voice actors somewhere around 12 to 15 seasons I think (can't remember the exact one), and I'd say that's the point where it went wrong for me. It kinda just coincides with the show's undeniable decline, so it's easier to know when an episode is airing and knowing if it's one of the good ones or not. I imagine I would've been able to watch a bit longer than those seasons if the original cast stayed, they really elevated the show in Latam Spanish, but a voice swap + a decline in quality, that just did it.

The other is that, honestly, I don't think Eric actually watches stuff. Anyone that actually watches both things, tries to get a grasp of what's happening, will see how fucked up WWE storytelling is right now, and how better is AEW at it. The main problem AEW has right now is that it's still a bit hard to get into it the minute you start watching, because there so many people involved, so many stuff happening at the same time, that you need to watch for at least a month to truly be on board. RE: The Veer and Cody and who's coming first. I'm damn confident in that both debuts will happen simultaneously. It's not just war time, where stories get either push down or glorified depending on their usefulness, It's just decades of lies, where plenty of people were given plenty of reasons to not trust things at face value just based solely on side of the fence. I don't think the US has secret bioweapons labs in Ukraine, but if it ended up being true I wouldn't be shocked. Just as I didn't thought Russia would invade, but it didn't shock me that they ended up going that route. It fucking sucks but that's what it is, and that's the biggest issue. We don't even need to believe that it might be true to consider that it is plausible. Same shit if you tell me Russia may have secret bioweapons labs. I'm really confused about all of this from what I've been reading, including the BBC source, so there was/are biolabs backed/funded by the US in Ukraine, that aren't weapons, but they're still sensitive? and so that's been used as propaganda to say that there are weapons labs?

That's just diplomacy as usual. Critique and public pressure means nothing when you see now examples of coordinated actions against Russia to stop the war. We have ongoing crisis in Israel for example and NATO countries won't do much, because it's a key partner from the biggest and most important members. There is a lot more to be done. There is a lot more that won't be done. Criticism and "pressure" already lost it's meaning. And we haven't even touched Afghanistan. And yes, I don't think the US really has an issue with Erdogan's crackdowns or other problems of the world. Other than looking angry on TV, I don't believe it. I don't have a reason to believe it. NATO countries had issues with Trump, and were in alert in regards to what he would do with NATO for obvious reasons, it was a threat to the longevity of the pact, but other than that, I seriously doubt anything else would have been done. Oh I'm not saying it's not enough or something. I'm saying that it's bigger than other actions. This kind of stuff ends up in intervention (or full support of the agressor) when it's in the "third world". Israel is not seen as that and personally I think there's a lot of racism involved in how much the north/west hemisphere cares. Afghanistan. Sure, planting the US flag and calling it their own territory wasn't a goal. But that's because the US long ago realized it's better to have puppet states than conquering for themselves. Sanctioning them to stop violent occupation wouldn't be that hard it seems. Even if it solving the core problems is different, stopping the country from being an agressor clearly is an option.

Not according to what you said. Because they share "values" and they are "willing to die" for one another. This means that NATO countries are pretty much okay with the unilateral, bilateral, and multilateral actions of their members. So even if it's not NATO, it doesn't matter because they won't stop each other from fucking the world because they're allies. Would you feel comfortable, for example, having current day Russia as a member that you would have to go and defend if they are attacked, specially knowing how big of a liar that State is? I wouldn't. And the thing is, being a "democracy" and having a "open market" doesn't exclude your state from becoming a threat like that. The US is a dead horse by this point, but it has already proven to be on the brink of being a fascist state. Having those values stated means nothing in terms of safety to the other states. It only matters as an ideological statement, and yes, that's problematic when its about world peace. Currently, NATO just looks like the lesser evil on the face of Putin's action, of course. But I am really weirded by having the world trusting NATO and its members like its nothing.

Thread It's Not Just Mainstream Press that is Broken: Co-founder of The Intercept Decides to Dabble in Genocide Denialism to Shift Focus From Russia to NATO
Russia became completely isolated and their economy is taking hard. All in a matter of days. That's not "critique and public pressure" and usual diplomacy, those are concrete and coordinated actions that the world and NATO countries are using, but the fact that haven't been used in the same level in other instances is just because Russia is an adversary in the world stage. So, yeah, that they use usual diplomacy, critique and public pressure between them, means nothing now. And when we have other conflicts that are just as serious in other places of the world, and these same countries don't take the same action, it confirms that NATO countries act based on ideological and geopolitical goals, not because they are a force for good in the world, which is troublesome since those ideological and geopolitical goals aren't good by themselves just for being themselves, and countries can be decieved into taking action when the reasons and results will be fucked up. So that answers your question of why isn't good that NATO has those ideals as a principle to join. Have they sometimes taken actions that were correct ones? Sure, not everything is black or white. But that doesn't mean they're the beacon of justice, freedom and democracy they claim to be. That sanction you mention proves my point. They sanction Erdogan because of buying weapons from an adversary. They can accept everything else, but the line is drawn at dealing with their rival. So no, the US doesn't care about the rest as long as it doesn't hurt them.

That depends on how much you want to justify them. A simpler answer it's because they're allied. I will tell my friend he's acting like an ass, but won't go and take action into my hands like I would with someone I'm having problems with. Many places of the world has had issues with the rest of the countries. On the world stage though, it doesn't matter as long as the big dogs are fine with each other.

Alright, so then it's safe to assume that NATO countries share international US values and thus, countries should be afraid of intervention by them, even if it isn't carried under the official name. Because NATO members are willing to die to defend a country that has, several times in history, destroyed lives in the world. I mean NATO could be an actual mutual defense force based solely on the principle of defending the right to self determination of each member, making membership desirable not just by economically liberal countries. But as you say, it's clear that it's an ideological and economic organization first, because those values are what's important. And that makes perfect sense.

Yeah, I get that. We're all on our toes with everything that's happening. But I wish we can stop assuming the worst from people at least here on ERA. For example, I think that discussions like these don't have a place in the Invasion thread. It's tone deaf, and it doesn't help anyone. If we are in a thread talking about journalists speaking about NATO, yeah I think we can discuss this without treating each others as shill for something. Yeah I'm not entirely sure if it is about common values. Because if a country democratically decides to shift their economies I don't see how that should go against someone's values. But would go against NATO's values. It's problematic for very democratic principles that you condition your help to another one on mantaining certain economic goals. I come from Chile. We were sabotaged by NATO's biggest member with the help from other allies. I can see how eventually a country that goes in a different direction from NATO in the region could get sweaty even if they don't represent a direct threat. Same way I can absolutely understand why a country that chooses similar paths to NATO members would much rather be a member than be constantly threatened by Russia.

Sure, but who's NATO biggest and most important force? Can you see why the line about sharing ideological goals is important when you have members that go against democratic principles in other countries at will? Are those values really important or is it more about economic goals? That's why I started by pointing out the distinction. Eastern European countries have evident, obvious and undeniable reasons to be in NATO. However the organization's main members have different reasons to accept those countries, and they are to keep Russia in check. Not because of it being a dictatorship, I think it's purely because of geopolitical hegemony. You don't need to go to 1973, there's people right now that say those things. We do agree, sadly is just the reality that the world is much complicated than "my ideology = good / your ideology = bad", and that's why I point that fundamental flaw in NATO. And I believe similar reasons are behind so many people, and journalists and analysts, that *really* aren't pro Russia, not willing to let go NATO's reasons to bring more countries as an analysis point, despite knowing Putin uses it as propaganda.

Thread It's Not Just Mainstream Press that is Broken: Co-founder of The Intercept Decides to Dabble in Genocide Denialism to Shift Focus From Russia to NATO
I think there is an important distinction to be made. There are the eastern european countries willing to join because of protection. Which is understandable, they have more than enough reasons to do so. There is also the fact that NATO has to accept those countries, which is risky and implies costs for the countries that are already a member. Which begs the question, why member countries would accept eastern european countries? I don't think we are naive enough to think that it's because these states are good guys and want to protect asking countries out of good will. Here's where we need to consider NATO's main goals, historically speaking its very foundation was to check the USSR and preventing them from invading Europe. They also require countries to hold a market economy and a liberal democracy, which means that NATO also has ideological goals to promote in exchange for this mutual defense protection. So while NATO expands in democratic ways, that doesn't mean it can't be seen as hostile to other countries. And yes, this doesn't mean that this is the reason Putin is invading, nor justifies it, etc. Not everyone talking about this is shilling Russian propaganda either, here in Latam I've sen plenty of international analysts well outside those propaganda influences talking about this, and about the US' hypocrisy, and also the racial hypocrisy we've seen (how the world seem to care about the war because it's european, how we could be stopping attrocities elsewhere but we aren't, etc.). All of this are repeated talking points, that, while are almost never meaning that these very people support Putin's action, render US' and Europe's statements untrust-worthy.

It is if your democratically elected government wishes to make changes to their economies. NATO holding "free democracy" (or, liberal democracy that is) and market economy is ideologically conditioning who can be invited to the party. So, imagine, you could have a Socialist Democracy that poses no threat to other nations, but they couldn't be allied with NATO and be part of the mutual defense because it goes against their ideological goals.

Of course, it's a fair point. I think that if Russia was an actual democracy, but as a superpower still opposes or would challenge the rest of Europe's or US' hegemony, it would still be an antagonistic force to NATO. It just wouldn't be like we are looking at today. Russia would try to keep an influence through peaceful means instead of a freakin invasion.

I surely hope that's what we would be getting if Britt wins. What feels off about this feud is that it was kinda rushed in the last few weeks. Similar to that of the Adams, but at least between Britt and Rosa there is a strong story already built last year. Or maybe both of these feuds feel off because they pale in comparison to MJF/Punk and Bryan/Mox ones. Hell, even Jericho/Kingston feels stronger, and that had like 3 episodes of actual build between them.

It didn't take very long (about 6 months) until they got their shit together and started to push back. Even then, Barbarrosa was the biggest invasion in human history (an army of about 3 million people invading the whole region), even well prepared it was going to be ruthless. I always say this, but sadly their coverage in other places of the world is better. They do it because it hurts US sphere of influence, of course, but for example, Latam's RT coverage in the past few years was one of the few ways to know what Añez was doing in Bolivia against their own people. They also provided good coverage of the human rights crisis in Chile and Colombia. Few international outlets do extensive and in detail coverage in places like these, reasons pretty well known (Chileans are a bit more "privileged" in that sense, we did get a bit more than the others). I'm not pleased to say that throwing them out of the entire world, which is something that will probably end up happening, wouldn't be good.

Well, the US is the biggest NATO member. Most of the mutual defense pact in fact would end up being pointless without the USA, for example, another superpower could easily roll through several NATO members, if not all of them, but with the US there as a threat, it makes the whole deterrence work. Which makes the NATO dependent on the US and well, which at the same times makes NATO look as not only a mutual defense pact, but also an organization that has an obvious interest in keeping the US happy. Nuance basically doesn't exist online anymore anyway, so in that we agree.

I'm not saying a 5600x is worthless. If you are on a 5600x you have 0 reasons to upgrade to other CPU unless you have specific need for more cores. But if you are on an older 6 core chip, to me it doesn't make much sense going to another 6 core chip. If it's about averages and charts, say, if you are on the 1700x why not going for a 12100 then, if that's all that matters? Sometimes it's not all about charted % gains. Another way to look at it, while it's not all about more cores and more threads, let's use a 6600k and a 6700k. Back in the day it was the same deal: go with the 6600k, it's not really much difference with the 6700k, and all charts showed the same. A couple of years later and those who chose a 6700k clearly got a better experience in the long run, they got longer before they had to upgrade. The difference is that saving that price premium back could mean a higher tier GPU. That isn't the case anymore. Maybe you'll get more storage, more ram, sure, but you can also just get a better, longer running CPU, which is a core component. Everything in the end is about your use case and budget. If those extra 100 bucks don't hurt, go for the better chip. If you are on a tighter budget, then don't worry, you'll get an excellent 6 core chip regardless.

If he gets to WWE, I do think Vince is gonna use him good, specially because Cody's probably gonna push back on bad ideas. I know that WWE's pretty awful these days, but that's because they only have eyes for two or three names they consider a star, and they use the little creative they have on those. I may not like Cody, but going out of WWE, building a brand, becoming a star, and then coming back, yeah that's not gonna get wasted. Dude's gonna be considered a star. At least for a while. I mean, Bobby Lashley, Drew, they were somewhat "well" used for a while and are the few secondary stars WWE has. I know, I know, they're kinda wasted now, it's true. But they did got over during a time, and I believe this is what Cody will get upon arriving. After that? I don't know. Cody will probably end up jobbing to Roman after a while, but that's fine if it's done right. But he's not going to go for the 24/7 or something like that. Probably on averages, but not on general system usage. I'm not saying that buying the 5600x doesn't make sense, it really all depends on your use and budget. While more cores doesn't equal better future proofing (and generally that's a fool errand's on its own), say for example a 9900k user has way less reasons to upgrade than a 9400f user right now. It usually happens with CPUs. So if you aren't breaking your bank to go for a tier above, if it's in your budget there's no reason not to go for a 12700 or 5800x above the 12400 or 5600x. It's not like, for example, that price difference can go to the GPU and jump a tier it just... isn't like that anymore.

The mere fact that NXT was burned to the ground and is pulling Rampage's late friday nights number under Vince's direction says A LOT. The thing is that AEW has a lot more room to grow and it's already not that far from reaching's WWE numbers in ratings for example. WWE's strength, specially financial, come from doing questionable deals, questionable business decisions, and then there's the TV deals. The USA network was pretty pissed that they lost a wednesday live show, which is what they paid for. They did, but then NATO talks exist again (which yeah, you can say it's precisely because of movements like these), so they set a reminder. This isn't ending now though. It will continue to develop in the next days/weeks. I'm still in doubt that an invasion will take place, but there's a lot of factors involved.

Because if they want to join, Russia is ready to take action and prevent it. And the rest of the countries won't do a thing. It's not a master plan, we know that everyone knows how big Russian military is, but it's pretty different to make it a talking point for weeks, having NATO powers showing all of their intelligence and predictions, and showing how fast they can't adjust to them. They're proving a point, that as you say everybody may know, but it's different to know it in theory and watching it take place.

Not really. It makes it relevant, but it also showed that NATO countries don't really want a part in this, outside sending support. Russia got to show how well prepared they are to invade and will make them think twice about any movement, even if they end up joining NATO, Russia could take down the entire country and threaten a bigger conflict that, again, no one wants and no one will risk getting involved in.

Thread Massive Russian military buildup near Ukraine
It's an endless cycle. Russia moves troops, countries reinfroce NATO cooperation, which makes Russia move troops, which makes countries reinforce NATO cooperation, etc. Yeah but you got to consider who is telling what. We know Russian movement's of troops because western government's and media want the public to know what they are doing. Why would they be telling Ukraine's and their own movements? Russian intelligence has 0 reasons to tell them either. You really can't know what they know, but we would be very fool to think that Russian intelligence doesn't know movement of troops elsewhere. Even before satelites, for example, Allied forces during WW2 knew exactly troop movements and days of invasions (like Barbarosa starting day, which was ignored by Stalin, and the invasion of Crete, which was dismissed by UK heads there). Neither force here is unprepared. But Russia showed that they can invade if they want and there's really nothing the rest of the world can do about it. And also they don't want to.

Thanks Agreed. It's the type of stuff it's better to know and then you just decide how you feel about it. For some people it will just sour the deal, while for others it will be a complete turn off. Both are okay. What's not okay is to dismiss these stories or how other people feel about it.

It also kind of goes against that whole "bloody matches scares women off" some people believe. To me the most interesting bit is that the whole MJF segment really put people off. I think that the show was well booked, but seems that a long promo segment is not a good way to open the show.

I'm so looking forward to next week's Martinez vs Rosa. I hope they get good TV time because that match will be intense. Man, it's just so great to be actually excited for wrestling again instead of just following what's up. I'm glad AEW has been improving on what got me distracted in the past + having many stars I've been invested in a while. Bryan Danielson was def a turning point. I'm gonna simp that man wherever he goes. I feel that last night's episode is an example of how well balanced AEW in general can get. It was a very sports-entertainment show, but had some very great matches, surprises for a very diverse crowd (I'd say, for example, Jay White for the more wrestling nerd crowd - in a good sense -, Keith Lee for those jumping ship and Mox working a lot as an in-house surprise partner), and then a brutal match at the end as a way of reminding you what this shit can be too when needed. Good good. Keep it coming.

Control needs some adjustments, but the core of the game is just so damn fun. It's just that Apex's gameplay and gunplay it's extremely satisfying to play. I love Arenas, but Control is perfect to hop in for a couple of matches just for the hell of it and leave. Arenas and BR are much more competitive. I hope Apex keeps expanding and it ultimately becomes what Titanfall wasn't allowed to become. Yeah, a team on Olympus - Hammer labs had their ziplines to the center all the time. Once I realized that, I chose to stay on top blasting people who took the zipline. Very fun. It's also pretty easy to camp as a sniper in one of the maps in Storm Point, the one that has a tower. You get to the top with the Charge Rifle and be a pest to the enemy team left and right.

Thread After today's hotfix for Battlefield 2042, the next update for BF2042 (which included a refreshed Scoreboard) has been delayed to March
I've not said it doesn't influence, I'm saying it's not really a thing for what a game like Battlefield goes for. Like for years people shout PTFO and that KDR on BF doesn't matter, but now it's like super important. I insist: if the rest of the game was fine, and the whole internet wouldn't be a complete shitstorm, this would be a non-issue and only a minor feedback point. That's the point. It's a nothing issue. It doesn't matter. It's not something that should be a priority. It's the lesser problem. Some people use it, some people don't. Spending your time shouting about "emarrasment" for deciding on a change it's childish. Do you work in game development? Do you know if it's hard or not to do realtime data integration, figuring a way to promote squadwork via a scoreboard, and then having to re-do it because the loud crowd cry about it without throwing the previous one out the window? Specially if you know that it needs to be perfect and not cause problems elsewhere otherwise it would only add gas to the fire? PTFO mate That's a better argument, and I've seen plenty of you for many topics surrounding the game. And for this I say: yeah, scoreboard could use improvements. Not that it really impacts how I play though, because if I see a helicopter killing too often I do play AA, and I never need a scoreboard for that because it just takes playing the game that's in front of you. I do favor a toggle though, specially because what DICE is doing is covering the entire screen with 128 players data that's useless. However I do not favor it being a priority and becoming a major point of discussion due to "embarrasment" and "laughable" decisions, yada yada.

In a nutshell: I have not seen a single good argument in favor of the old scoreboard and it all sounds to the usual internet hyperbole. It's just "I don't like it" disguised as "devs are obligated by law to have a traditional scoreboard". So I'll keep thinking that it's a waste of time until I either see good arguments or I get bored of the discussion. It'll probably be the second one.

Because of posts like these: Like, dude, there a scoreboard. You press tab, or whatever it is on console and it pops up. Saying that there isn't is internet hyperbole, and I'm pretty damn tired of it. You may dislike it, sure. People, specially gamers, don't usually like new things. Look, after all these months, I only have around 40 hours of play in this game. I like it, but it wasn't that great to keep me coming all that often and life's too short and there's many great titles unplayed out there. By this time, in comparison, I already had over 100 hours of BFV because I loved that one. Yeah, game has tremendous issues. But the scoreboard has been such a low hanging fruit, useless, childish complaint by the community (as well as stuff like the Santa skin or Arrgg angel does it again!, which I know is more of a meme but a lot of people didn't get that memo) that it completely exahusts me. But as I've been sucked into the internet black hole, I still can't let go of how stupid all of this is. Like how many times in Era or Reddit or Twitter or whatever have you read people pointing how to improve maps, the specialist systems, or whatever? I've read a couple of them. They're really cool attempts by good faith people who wants things to be better. And community feedback has been an important part of improving a shitshow of a game, like what happened with BF4 and stuff like community maps and the test servers. Sadly the loud crowd who just like to vent has taken over (and I understand why, but c'mon). The complaints about shit like the scoreboard are just a drive by. It doesn't add or take anything to the game if there is or if there isn't a traditional one, changing this is wasted resources on a game that's on life support. It's tiresome. No, it's a squad based shooter. Does it succeed at it? I don't think so. However the scoreboard isn't what has the game on the state it is. So that's the point, it's not an useful feature only if it happens to work for me. It's that it useless. Traditional scoreboards tells you apart from individual kills and deathsLike how many times have you gotten into, say, a CoD match, and went "whew, thank god there's a traditional scoreboard here. I don't know how I could have fun without it!". It means nothing at the end of the day. Seriously, the one on this game even tells you if your team's ticket bleed is caused by deaths and not capture points. People always complain that medics don't revive, well you can actually know if your squad is reviving or not this time instead of just being anecdotal. That's useful information in a game like Battlefield. Sure, the scoreboard can improve. But changing it into the old system to please a loud crowd? As a priority? In a game with many issues? That's fucked up. And clearly it isn't that easy to implement. If it was it would've rolled out already. So yeah, DICE is wasting resources to please a crowd that already made their minds and won't care until influencers and reddit tell them "hey you can come back now" and they keep hate-playing until the next game releases. The real reason there's such a buzz around the scoreboard is that the rest of the game came in too hot. If the rest of the game was fine enough for most people, the scoreboard would be a minor complaint and an update around a year after release when major updates already rolled out. But the squadboard for people who like teamplay

It tells you that. You can see how many kills, assists, captures and revive you (and your squad) have in comparison to the top 5 squads of the game. Ammount of individual kills, deaths, revives, captures, defenses, and assists you have. The ammount of points it gives for such actions is a bigger issue than the scoreboard. This image can and should be improved, but it's nowhere near the "there isn't a scoreboard!" posts.

Oh I'm not saying that there aren't glitches or anything. But right now you can at least play a couple of matches (when you can find them) and it won't be the mess that Cyberpunk was after two or three months of launch. You'll encounter glitches that absolutely need fix, but critical issues were adressed. I think people saying that Cyberpunk is better in that regard is just recency bias. Cyberpunk straight up ran (still maybe) at below 20 fps in last gen. Like that's completely on a different level than BF2042. 2042 is closer to the BF4 launch in this aspect (and I still think that 2042 has been a bit more stable, if not by much, probably due to anectodal experience). My biggest technical issue is that performance leaves a lot to be desired. I can stand a glitch here and there, but if on lower end hardware it's basically impossible to run well unless you have a 6+gb card and a 6+core CPU in a game that can be run in last gen consoles, then it's really poorly optimized. But it tells you that. It tells you how your squad is doing, your own kills and points and how it compares to the top squads and teams as a whole. And just because the loud crowd say that "there isn't a scoreboard" doesn't mean it's true. There is one, with far more information than traditional scoreboards. They may not like it, but to say other thing it's hyperbole. It's a squad and team based game, the information that isn't there is only useful for lone wolf players. It's a bigger issue the lack of VOIP, that the game doesn't communicate it's systems well, specialist balance and map layout. The scoreboard is the least of BF2042's problems.

Weird, on PC if you press tab you can see a scoreboard. You can't see individual kills or deaths but I still don't see how's that an actual issue that impacts the game in any way. Scoreboard already provides tons of information. It shouldn't be a priority to fix something that isn't broken when the rest of the game has way more important issues.
