Thread Tales of Arise SPOILER Thread
Oh thank god, I was wondering when this would go up. I didn't want to be the one to make it since I finished the game before launch. I would be way ahead by default. Loved the story overall. The mirroring of the "Renans" and the real Renans, both tools for the Great Spirit, was some "real Star Trek hours." And I'm always a sucker for found family themes because that stuff resonates with me deeply on a personal level. I was really hoping Vholran would pop up for a final duel and I started to lose hope he crashed his friggin' hijacked starship down to go after Alphen. I laughed so hard at that (not necessarily in a bad way). I also freaked the fuck out midway through that fight because I played on Moderate and he was doing enough damage to me that I needed to spam healing items. And suddenly, no menu access! When I realized that it was because Alphen had become invincible I sighed with such vivid relief. As is often the case with me, I wish the pre-credits ending fare was richer. Alphen's "let's go" holds weight as the last line, but I could have used a better look at the world! Still, I was in tears. <3 And the mid-credits sketches, revealing everybody's near-future. That made up for things a good bit for me.

Thanks. <3 It helps that I'm sorta distanced from some of the bigger recent... uh, affairs! I can see the how and why here -- how this happened, why a mass migration is being discussed -- without being in the middle of the maelstrom. At the end of the day, I just hope folks can find a comfortable, respectable, "y'all means all" sort of community that doesn't cause them headaches. If Era stops feeling like a positive portion of one's day, I'm all for them taking breaks or stepping away entirely. I just know there aren't exactly many places on the internet that aim to be inclusive enough for a lot of us to feel welcome. (I say "aim to be" because I know we're by no means perfect at it. I still appreciate that the site was founded on those notions and I know there are good people, members and mods alike, who do their best to maintain that.)

I once balanced reporting on serious industry allegations in one tab and ghostwriting some silly "Top DS RPGs" thing for a content mill site in another. You might actually be on to something. Yeah, it is. ;_; I hope things work out optimally for everybody here, no matter what that looks like. Obviously, I'd love if that means folks stick around. But whatever's best. Yay! I hope we can all at least enjoy another Direct together tomorrow! Whether or not it's the last the community celebrates on Era, I'm selfishly demanding this because I didn't get into Nintendo fare in a big way until three years ago so I'm still playing catch-up relative to how many Directs y'all have seen together. Then again... I'll probably be on standby for article-writing during the whole thing... so how much will I even get to post here, anyway? Well, hmph, I'll try!

So I kind of vanish from the discourse simply by virtue of not being especially active. I appreciate the kind words, though! Plasma > Galactic > Aether Foundation > Team Rocket (RBY/FRLG) > Team Aqua/Magma (ORAS rewrite) > Team Flare if you've watched the anime and can force yourself to believe they're anywhere near as decent in the games > Team Rocket (GSC/HGSS) > Team Aqua/Magma (RSE) > Team Flare if you've not watched the anime and thus have no basis for the aforementioned mental trickery > Macro Cosmos Yeah, Rose is awful. Somehow the postgame episode's villains manage to be slightly better. This is in spite of the fact that they are also awful. Game Freak dropped the ball on story big-time with this game in almost every conceivable way. Marnie's cool, Bede's surprisingly good as a modern Pokemon rival, and the raw adrenaline rush from the Stadiums truly delivers. But side-showing the main plot until the last possible second -- who the heck decides this is good?

There's nothing quite like it, but BSG (2003-2009) is kind of similar from a tonal perspective. Have you seen Star Trek DS9? In the latter half, it gets nicely serialized, which I realize isn't the crux of what makes The Expanse tick but it's certainly part of the equation. For newer fare, I third (?) the Star Trek: Discovery references -- if you can make it past some rough early episodes. Then again, that's Trek for you.

They gave Star Ocean another shot not too long ago. Game was not good. As someone who grew up with the second and third entries, it pains me to say this, but I don't know if it would be a savvy executive decision on Square's part to keep going with it at this point. My first playthrough with Gold is one of my most vivid gaming memories; perhaps even more so than with Red and Yellow. I was young and naive and the owner of a hobby shop peddled a bootleg version onto me by playing up that I would get to experience the game before anyone else. He conveniently left out the grievous translation issues. Next thing I knew, I was engaging with a script that seemed to make less sense the further I got and was chock full of sudden expletives. Fuck it; I loved it anyway. It was an intensely personal version of initial exposure to Johto, like diving into an Escher painting full of offensive vocabulary. The climax of my experience is probably the interaction with the old man in Lavender Town. It was something like: OLD MAN: $&@/ a fucking cookies 2838$& If the cookie radio ....... get the radio a cookie

A decent example of this being done right would be the two Dragon Age novels leading into the third game (Inquisition). "Asunder" is Cole's tale; "The Masked Empire" is Celene's. I wouldn't say it's . Ideally, a little more from them would be integrated into the game. But for the most part, the game does a fine job of putting the Inquisitor into play with the important factors, explaining them, and inviting interested parties to find out more through the books.

Plenty optimistic. You hit the nail on the head for me -- JRPGs are my bread and butter and I was relatively worried during the PSWii60 era that they might dwindle into irrelevance. It didn't help that certain mainstream media sites were pumping out a narrative of "a tired genre" and all that jazz. (Thank you, sites like RPGFan, for keeping the flame alive online during those years. And it's OK for me to thank them! This was ages before I joined!) But then the last generation happened. And what marvels! and its delicious expansions. Even somewhat dicey games like are plenty of fun IMO. And ! Holy moly, what a game. What's funny is that I don't remember having more difficulty with the game as a result -- but I'm pretty sure it's because with all that leveling came so much GF-grinding, Card Modding, inane Draw cycling, farming for weapon upgrades, and so forth. Thread Jessica Steen explains why Stargate recast her character Dr. Weir
Atlantis' ratings were kind of crumbling and hit their lowest point a few episodes into season 4. (I believe "Doppelganger" with 0.9 was the nadir. Oh, how times have changed.) But it did bounce back somewhat, and when TiVo and similar DVR recording devices began being taken into consideration it was illustrated that SGA never really lost much of its audience; they simply time-shifted. This was tough to lure lucrative advertising deals with and common across the industry at the time. It was essentially the precursor to the streaming explosion a few years later. I guess I threw all that exposition out in the above paragraph to say that I think Tapping's arrival truly did help. Adored Weir, though. Maybe my favorite character on the show, that one. The continued sidelining of her as the series went on can't have been fun for Higginson. I'm glad she came back for the fourth-season two-parter, at least. That said, it's nice to finally have some insight into why Jessica Steen was replaced. Steen made an excellent first impression in "Lost City," and while Higginson won me over with ease, I would have loved to see Steen's take move forward as well. The actresses brought pretty different dynamics to Weir.

As someone who's happy with like 99% of what the modern Trek fare brings to the table... yeah, the sprawling Blade Runner turbolift metro transit system is... something.Agreed.Agreed.I actually think the fourth and fifth seasons are fairly fabulous. I'll also award a special note to the second season for making the first look good by comparison.I think the first season's OK. The second is when it really goes all-in on the TNG knockoffs. It's also when the show's ratings began to drop to an alarming degree. There's a particularly dire stretch around the middle of the way through the season. Like clockwork, the audience evaporated. The third season is great. I like it even more than the fourth, which is also great.First season's good. Second is better. Third is roughly tied with the second. They're all quite different, which is something I really like about the show. But if Discovery is ever going to "settle in," now would be the time. I concur that the third season's on great footing.Woefully uneven, but the highs are handily some of the best first-season episodes in the franchise. In particular, "Remembrance," "Nepenthe," and the last quarter or so of the season finale are all superb.I don't love it. I'll just say that. :P

Yup! That's why I left a disclaimer about it. I didn't think it'd get pushed back but I knew it'd be wise to mention that it's been weeks so anything goes. Luke in is the cartoonish Power Level 9001 "badass" figure that I understand why some desired more of in the sequels, but it just wouldn't have been as good if they'd gone that direction IMO. More importantly, we only see him for a few moments. TLJ Luke (and tbh, his one big scene in TROS as well) has a lot more to chew on. Easy choice. As for Legends Luke, there's good and there's dire. If the continuity had concluded with the end of the Yuuzhan Vong saga, I might have been tempted to vote for this guy, warts and all.

Twilight Princess, by a hair. Its "empty" overworld is still fun to me. Better yet, its story, mood, companion character, dungeons, overall gameplay, and final bosses are all among my favorites. I don't know that Twilight Princess does many things better than entry, but it does most things quite solidly. As for Wind Waker, it's pretty close. Primarily because I the Great Sea. I love exploring it. I love treasure-hunting. I also adore the soundtrack, the characterization, and Toon Link's adorable/outlandish facial expressions. :P Skyward Sword is good. Okay, so. My friend and I finally made it through all of the Sun/Moon episodes. Not gonna lie, I was hoping I'd like this "saga" more than I did, based on some of the sterling impressions I saw on Era at the time. I'm not to slice of life or anything (though it's hardly my favorite genre) but man, I just did not care about most of these kids at all. I think the crux is that I kept hearing the show is legitimately funny, and... if anything, it was less funny than what preceded it? Bewear aside, that is. Bewear and Stufful are the GOATs here. Everybody had paper-thin ambitions and Sophocles in particular was worse-than-Cilan levels of bad. Nobody else was downright , but no one stood out either. Highlights: the early arc with the villainous Lusamine (before she's good lol); the Team Skull stuff because Topp's dub voice is incredulous; a couple of Mallow outings; and the Alolan League most of all. It took a long time to get there, but the battles were great (if brief, Kukui aside). Kalos > Sinnoh > Kanto > Hoenn > Johto > Alola > Unova, I think. We didn't hate it or anything (we would have stopped if we did) but as my friend put it, end stretch aside, the show was just constantly stuck on the qualitative x-axis the whole way through. Oh, and omg, Ash's departure was even worse than usual. He didn't even say goodbye to any of his Alolan Pokemon.

Awesome contest. I think I'll go ahead and enter. I usually refrain since I'm a moderator and all. But the Series S would get some serious mileage at mi casa. My pick is Dorian Pavus from , a character who I suspect will play a role in DA4 as well. He's many things -- clever, playfully deceptive, intuitive, magically-inclined, well-read, thoughtful, quietly heroic... and gay. It's hard to believe it's been almost seven years since DAI dropped, but it has; and in November 2014, it was on some level still considered radical not just to have an outright gay companion in a BioWare game, but to highlight that LGBTQ aspect in a meaningful, resonant conversation. Dorian's "proclivity," as his Tevinter father references it, can be troubling. This is horseshit, of course. And the Inquisitor (the player character) gets to say so. Ultimately, Dorian's response to his father is all his own. But helping him through something so shockingly in such a world, before and after, is touching.

Pie-in-the-sky dream: I would have begged Sunrise to create another show set in the After Colony universe. That would have kept Americans hooked. More realistic scenario: Bring the Mobile Suit Gundam movies into the limelight rather than the show. Make an event out of their airing and immediately follow up with Zeta in a new block. Best realistic scenario: Don't do UC yet in general. Admirable effort, but the problems were obvious. Bring X next, not G. X isn't as alien to Wing as G is. And while that made some fans (I myself prefer G over Wing), I can tell you none of my school friends were nearly as enthralled. All right. I've got a few questions for Gundam gurus. :P Minovsky particles. Someone remind me what these do? There was a point early on in the film in which the Federation dispersed a bunch of them and the Zeon folks had to be cognizant of that. Does it mess with ship systems or something? I recall Minvosky particles being super important in later shows, so this is just me drawing a big, dumb blank. Is there an ideal time to watch (well, rewatch) during the trilogy? I think the mobile armor that Zeon was developing is intended for use against Jaburo or something if I remember correctly? Would it sync up well to watch this before the second film? Or the third? Or is it just a completely and utter wash? Same question with . But also, is the manga finished? I tried looking that up online last night to dizzying results. Just wondering if/when we'll see a continuation. So the present implication from the first film is that Char is working for Kycilia, right? And that Kycilia wanted Garma dead? I know Char's real motives -- that much I remember thanks to having seen just a couple of years back -- but was I reading into the script here correctly? Are we, at present, supposed to believe he killed Garma for her and not for himself? There's something about the movie's writing that left me a tiny bit confused. As an aside, I mentioned upthread that the movies don't do nearly as good a job covering the Char/Garma stuff as the show. I'm not sure I stand by that now. There was more on display here than I remembered. The show still goes into greater depth, but the film gets it across rather neatly.

Thread Babylon 5 is now streaming on HBO Max, one of the very best shows ever
The show's first four seasons aired on the long-defunct network PTEN. When PTEN was going under, JMS didn't know if the show would get picked up elsewhere, so he accelerated the fourth season. It was originally going to run the full 22 episodes up until and do the season finale there. The actual series finale was filmed, even, but held back and replaced with that weird time-jumping episode instead when TNT grabbed the show at... well, not quite the eleventh hour, but surely at least the tenth. As a result, JMS made some stuff up in the first half of season 5, because he didn't need to wrap up the big stuff there anymore. Most fans agree the front half of that season is not great. Meanwhile, the back half is, more or less, as it was always intended to be. (And notably better.)

The reason I ask is that I was hoping I would be able to "pause" the main game around Chapter 8 or so, do Yuffie's chapters intermittently around that point, and then finish up the main game thereafter. I'm no longer 11, and the second disc certainly stings, but it has plenty of good moments, the gameplay opens back up at the end, and it is absolutely worth experiencing. 3. It probably would have eventually crashed and burned. We would potentially never see Xenoblade as a result. But it's nice to dream. 4. A buddy of mine helped with the translation, actually. I'm in Chapter 2 right now. I understand the structure involves multiple chapters with one future party member apiece followed by an extended fifth chapter with the band together. This doesn't seem like the sort of game with a million helpful hints or anything, but who knows. If there's anything handy you'd like to share, be my guest. I'm totally cool with little gameplay spoilers that would make the game easier and such; I'd just prefer to avoid plot spoilers. The easier I can make the game, the happier I'll be. Yeah, I strongly doubt the comics and whatever would be the medium utilized for the latter novels. There’s smoke here; I totally respect your caution because it’s best not to get burned, but there’s fire here as well. Back when the announcement about a final season was made, a good number of us tweeted The Expanse’s writing team’s main account. They rather cheekily concurred with notions of continuations; my own post was met with a particular degree of agreement. Now that Alcon’s top dogs are talking about how to move forward and mentioning features, and that the show goes back to them in full in a few years, I don’t know — it feels good, ha. Also, for what it’s worth, Book 6 is a good temporary stopping point. Better here than any other season. But it will certainly leave the door open for a fair bit, none of which is likely to be compressed to death in season 6. Without getting into spoilers, it’s difficult to articulate quite why this is an almost ironically apt place to (hopefully just) pause.

Thread What's your favorite AU Gundam
Starts out meh. I wasn't feeling it until around a third of the way in. The beautiful thing about however, is that it's a fairly linear upward trajectory from there. The last few episodes are its strongest, which isn't often the case with AU shows. It's cheesy as hell in ways not even other shows often achieve. It's certainly problematic at times. But for godsake, the world is saved through the power of love -- and the hamfistedness isn't hamfisted to death with a Tomino monologue to scorch it all. I'm sure genuine fans are tired of the rest of us bemoaning that it's only popular in the West because it was the breakthrough entry. No doubt there are people who truly enjoy the story, the characters, and the aesthetic even as adults. Actually, I enjoy the aesthetic to this day. There are some superb mobile suit designs in here. But take away the kickass soundtrack and it's a whole lot of nothing. It starts out relatively uniquely but falls into a U.C. thematic trip and fails to say anything at all, leaving a weird void where everything is an off-brand U.C. moment, villains attempt to cover U.C. arcs in the blink of an eye, and the endgame stretch is almost completely devoid of emotional resonance. At least the Gundam pilots get along better in , which is a surprisingly solid coda that helps to elevate the slump a bit. Excuse me, I cannot hear you all over all this "Dreams." Holy shite, what a banger. The style and tone of are electric and the premise is fire. Too bad, then, that most of the cast is fairly mediocre. Not levels of mediocre, thankfully. But mediocre. I wish the mecha designs weren't so nigh-universally bashed by the Japanese audience because a full show order would have saved things in a big way. That said, the second half of the series is so much more than the first that there are days I almost wonder if the truncation was a net positive. Also, there's an episode entitled "Like My Late Wife Always Said." So that's funny. I'm not counting this since I lump it in as "U.C.-adjacent." Take away the early 2000s "this is pretty much an AMV I made in sixth grade given a full series order" and is now with 50% more pink. But the dub -- I have not watched the remaster's doubtless superior dub, mind you -- is so hilariously rough that I enjoy the show more than perhaps I should. I also dig the updated mobile suit designs a lot. Look at that 2002 Zaku! It's adorable. Who is "cool"? Kira, Athrun, Mu, Lacus. Who is cool? Give it up for ya girl, Cagalli. Who is irrelevant? Sai. The bloke doesn't even show up in the sequel. A sequel in which dead people who exploded to death are no longer dead but rather, alive. Anyway. I haven't watched a single one of these shows. I hear at least a couple of them are fun. Someday.is something we all have to live with. But that doesn't mean I have to write about it. If was "my" in childhood, was "my" all throughout my twenties and into today. It's except good, sorry not sorry. The first season establishes the single best AU setting before proceeding to set it all aflame in spectacular fashion. The second season gets a ton more flak but I like it even more -- warts and all. The mecha designs are top-tier; I tend to watch these shows first and foremost for their stories (what a dweeb, yes) but is the rare case where I can just ogle the mobile suits endlessly. Setsuna's character development is good, but it's his fellow Meisters whose journeys of self-discovery are that much stronger. The one real "oof" is that Ali Al-Sachez goes from a terrific sociopath in the first season to a lapdog in the second. Oh well. By the way, the movie is good, too. (The plot may be trash but you can't tell me that music doesn't get ya groovin'.) You know what? I really like aliens. I love I thought for sure a AU with aliens would be a banger. I was a bit skeptical of the multi-generational approach, if only because 49 episodes didn't sound like enough time to make each generation stick? But I went into it with open arms. Those arms were betrayed. Dear lord, you know how a lot of people insult season 2? OK, that's me, except it's 's third arc. What a tragic explosion of creative ideas as nuked by sloppy writing and a bizarrely unlikeable final hero. Are we counting this? I'm in favor of not counting it for the same reasons I'm not counting . Unlike , however, this is... bad. A lot of folks are into tragic stories. Sometimes, that includes me! This is sadly not one of those times. I like the concept behind ' story and themes far better than the execution -- it's like the of the bunch, you grok? It's a dark world -- I dig. The protagonists are largely comprised of former child soldiers striking out on their own -- I dig. The narrative ultimately becomes one of hubris and overreaching -- I dig. Many of the heroes pay for that downfall with their lives -- and I dig! The Gundams themselves have to be dug up, a la -- I literally dig! The trouble is, Gjallarhorn . This show is bereft of remotely decent antagonists, and whenever it flirts with making one solid it pulls the rug out from under me and "surprises" me with the "revelation" that they're not so bad after all. If looked exactly the same, felt exactly the same, but was written far more smartly I'd be into it a more. Oh well. "Raise Your Flag" rocks.

Perhaps if it were Jessie who did this, it would be excusable, but as it stands this is borderline indefensible.

The manga's ending isn't exactly the best, but I wouldn't say it's as bad as the finale or (god forbid) 's. I think that certainly helps me still feel a mountain's worth of tears coming on with this episode, but more so than anything it simply remains A+ television (and its chapter was just as good).

Yeah, there's very little in the conceptualization stage of how that series ended that strikes me as downright stupid. The execution was just utterly botched. I'll concede that that's not quite the case with 's ending, but it's still stronger than what Benioff and Weiss actually put to page in GoT scripts.

I'll defend s second season until I'm blue in the face, but I otherwise concur with this list. I've seen some folks who actually love ' back half but their tastes generally strike me as... not my own. (One of them is a big fan of the last few episodes of , which I realize isn't the most uncommon opinion in the universe or anything but Christ, did I hate it so.) Despite rushing its conclusion, I think did the best it could. But a fuller show would have been better -- undeniably. 's last third or so is my favorite part of that show, though I'm hardly in love with the show in general.

"Hello everyone. Thank you for tuning in to today's Nintendo Direct. I'm Doug Bowser, although you may have noticed that I have taken on the appearance of Linkle, the plucky heroine from the game for Wii U and Nintendo Switch. There's a reason for that, so please stay tuned to find out why. With that said, let's start with an exciting announcement from our partners at Capcom." "So, what did you think? and games made a colorful splash on the Game Boy Color game systems when they originally released 20 years ago. We're happy to be reuniting with Capcom and Pure Sound Inc. to lovingly restore these memorable adventures to life for a brand new generation of fans of the games. Excitingly, you can return to the realms of Holodrum and Labrynna on September 30th. You'll be able to preorder and starting immediately after this event, so stay tuned." "That was rather unexpected, wasn't it? I didn't expect to see vintage footage of Miyamoto-san on stage and dressed like Link at a press conference from over a decade ago! Miyamoto-san, why did you choose to show us this? He says it's because he wanted us to feel reminiscent of simpler times as we announce thegame for Switch, out in early 2022. You'll be able to experience two epic journeys with remarkably different aesthetics but the same heart and soul that has made Link and Zelda such iconic characters for 35 years. Set sail with the King of Red Lions or join Princess Midna as Wolf Link. Defeat not one, but , Ganondorfs! Please anticipate more information on exclusive tie-in items for the game." "Hello! We hope you're enjoying today's Nintendo Direct so far. I guess it's time I reveal to you why I look like Linkle. Take a look! I'm actually seeing the world mirrored back at me through the power of Nintendo Labo 2. Pretty cool, huh? With Nintendo Labo 2, I can transform my reality into artificial reality. Even cooler, we'll be launching exclusive games for Nintendo Labo 2 to take advantage of the full power of cardboard in the months to come, beginning with , an all-new AR title exploring the land of Reverserule -- it may look a lot like your own neighborhood, but try to steer clear of the Octoroks and other nasties who might just spring up from familiar roads and ditches. Be careful, Linkle! Nintendo Labo 2 and the game will release immediately after this broadcast, so please feel free to purchase them posthaste." "And now on to our next title. Many of you may be wondering what new content may be in store for you with the and games, out November 19th for the Nintendo Switch. While we'll be discussing more fun features about these games at a later date, I'd like to take this unique opportunity to reveal a brand new postgame episode available to trainers who have completed their quest to "be the very best" and become the ruling Champion of the Sinnoh Region. In and top trainers may encounter a strange egg after completing the main scenario. But the egg does not belong to a Pokémon. I repeat: this is a Pokémon! Say hello to the Wind Fish, from the game and its gorgeous 2019 remake. Guide the Wind Fish through a new island off the coast of Sinnoh where Team Galactic has set up bases inside multiple miniature dungeons crawling with enemies from franchise of video games. You may learn more about the legendary Arceus if you can wake the Wind Fish and save this mysterious new island. The and games release on November 19th for the Nintendo Switch." "Speaking of Arceus, we have another special announcement in store for you today. 23 years ago, players were enchanted with . For decades, that enchantment has endured. Now, it is my pleasure to tell you that a remake is in development for certain undisclosed high-end hardware systems. Please take a look at early footage." "What did you think? We know the game is near and dear in many hearts, so we want to make sure we do it justice with a modern reimagining. As such, it may be some time before we can discuss this project with you in further detail. I hope you'll understand that this is a passion project full of newfound fun and nostalgic charm. We think you'll really enjoy it, so please bear with us as we work hard to deliver something special." "We're about finished with today's Nintendo Direct, but I do have one more exciting announcement. The game now has a launch trailer as well as a downloadable date of June 16th, 2021. Goodness, that's tomorrow, isn't it, Miyamoto-san? Miyamoto-san says hai, it is indeed tomorrow. What about our marketing campaign, Miyamoto-san? Aren't we supposed to slowly trickle out information? Shouldn't top gaming magazines compete for feature articles and highly-anticipated previews? Will reviewers even have time to review this game? Not to worry, you say?! People will be happy to be able to play the sequel to immediately? Well, I suppose you know best, Miyamoto-san! That's right, you can purchase the sequel to , right now on the Nintendo eShop and start playing at midnight Pacific Standard Time. We hope you'll enjoy Link and Zelda's next great adventure because you'll be going in blind. 'Going in blind?' What do you mean, Miyamoto-san? We'll be required to blindfold ourselves? Oh! Miyamoto-san says that's because there have been no press previews or any other preliminary information. Everyone will begin their journey to save Hyrule on an even playing field, thanks to 'Original Air Design,' as Miyamoto-san calls it. He wanted to rekindle the feeling of the very first game when nobody knew anything and everybody was blind. Not literally blind, I hope! Please enjoy game tomorrow." "At Nintendo, we understand that fans of the games, games, games, and more may be wondering what's in store for their favorite franchises in the future. As such," "We hope you've enjoyed the Direct! We'll have even more information on upcoming games in the weeks and months to come, so please look forward to it."

Definitely loved it at 12, but It dropped in my anime rankings when I rewatched it at 27. Writing, pacing, a mediocre endgame -- it's messy. No shame, though; I genuinely enjoyed as much at 27 as I did 15 years prior. Which is to say, I liked it.

Two profoundly different RPG franchises. One fight to the death. Do you pledge your sword to the Hero or the Warden? The Metal Slime or the Archdemon? The Akira Toriyama artwork or Solas' bald, egg-like head? Know that in choosing which of these two series you prefer, you make no discernible difference in the world around you. Nor shall your decision affect what others believe. Rather, you've been given the power to click on one or the other, thus demonstrating your devotion for all to see. And how do you decide? All sorts of ways. Which plays more to your tastes? Which approach to narrative and characterization appeals to you more? Which one do you find more polished? Which one smells less rancid than the other? (Hey, some voters are going to hate both.) Perhaps most importantly, in how many games on either side of the field can you pet the dog? This is your story, Era.
