Thread Media Create Sales: Week 36, 2021 (Sep 06 - Sep 12) [Read STAFF POST]
Thank you for your patience, there was a lot we needed to look into and a lot of discussions that needed to be had across time zones. We recognize that a lot of the damage is already done and cannot be undone, but we're going to explain this from the beginning as best we can. This whole thing started when Chris1964 was warned for antagonism in response to a post from Caiops which seemed pretty innocent at the time. We did receive complaints about Caiops afterwards, but none of those complaints could point to any examples of clear trolling, and searching his history didn't turn anything up either. We had already decided to investigate him more closely yesterday morning, but last night we received a tip which included the smoking gun we wish we'd had from the start: Caiops has admitted off-site that he doesn't actually care about Japanese sales. If we'd known that at the beginning it's likely that none of this would have happened. As is, clearly a subtle troll was able to get away with it, and warning Chris1964 for snapping at him was a mistake. We apologize for that unreservedly. With regard to Cvxfreak we have to clarify that the screenshots from Discord are NOT about any moderator action; the times listed are Japan Standard Time and Cvxfreak was talking about an argument he'd had with Chris1964 about the Japanese gaming industry. That was a day before Chris1964 made the post that ended up receiving a one day ban. No single moderator is ever solely responsible for a ban and there wasn't any abuse of power. Cvxfreak was asked to help with the thread because he's been following it for years and knows Japan and the industry as well as anyone does. He did his honest best to understand the issues in the community and privately consulted active posters. He admits now however that the concerns he brought to the staff were incomplete at best and ignorant of more severe and pressing issues at worst. In turn the staff was blindsided by the intensity of the backlash to the guidelines and the way individual staff were targeted personally when they tried to mediate. We want to address this point again in a bit. Again we understand at this point that a lot of the damage is done and can't now be reversed, but here is what we have done: Caiops has been permanently banned. We are cancelling the new guidelines because they were created without a complete understanding of the issues. The initial warning has been removed from Chris1964's record, and because the ban was escalated off that warning, it's been removed as well. Cvxfreak will be taking a leave of absence from the staff and when he returns he will voluntarily recuse himself from any moderation regarding sales. One thing we do need to address bluntly: Criticism and concerns are fine, displeasure with what are ultimately collective decisions are fine, we know we can make mistakes and we made plenty here. But vitriol and targeted hate is never going to fly, particularly when singling out individual staff just for being a messenger and trying to help. We've drawn that line because nobody is going to want to moderate this place if personal attacks are their constant reward. It's a lot harder to keep the peace here than you might think. Ban appeals will receive a fair hearing but this point must be understood. We sincerely regret the mistakes on our end and how this all played out. We can't decide for anyone whether they'll keep participating here, but it was never our intention to drive anyone off.

A boyband would be a totally new property, no way they do that without music. If they do a band skin this year, it'll be Pentakill. I'm 100% on that. Tho since I think that the only champ associated with Pentakill who's actually LoR is Viego, they'll probably just not do a band skin this year, which would be win.

There's also the bias news agencies have towards, well, news. Most of these reporters are either liberals or at least know a lot of people who vote D. They think that the reasons people support Dems aren't newsworthy because they think they understand them already (note: they frequently don't, especially in very white newsrooms) and that everybody else does, too, so why run it?

I think that the best outcome here is that Yor *mostly* covers it up with like some kind of Garden super-healing stuff, but misses something or flubs her lie, which causes Loid to get suspicious of her. Mostly a reset back to status quo, but with a new plot angle. Don't really see any need to rush things along, but it'd be nice to see the mutual deception start weakening.

It's not even really the who're the problem. Centrism vs. moderation. Most of the people who're objecting to this are in very safe blue districts. Lots of moderate Trump district Dems are supporting the legislation. Moderate is a description of an ideological preference; they believe in policies that are closer to the center, but on the (perceived, anyway) merits of those policies. Centrism is an identity, and it pushes you to be in the middle of the two groups, reality of the situation be damned. Klobuchar is a moderate, and she's moved on stuff, because she can be convinced on the merits. Manchin is a centrist, and as such, cannot be persuaded by appealing to the particular outcomes of any given decision.

Okay, so: This was a browser game initially, but I think it eventually made its way on to Steam. It was a deck building RPG, sort of. The core conceit was that you were playing an off-brand version of DnD. Playing various modules as presented by a somewhat obnoxious DM, or his even more irritating brother if the difficulty was higher. You controlled a full party of characters (elves dwarves humans, in mage, warrior and cleric classes) and the idea was, you would take on tactical RPG combat quests to earn equipment which modified your decks. So better swords would have certain skills you could draw, better armor would offer better mobility or damage reduction, etc etc.

If this happens, I'll definitely welcome it, but... I'm not holding my breath. Marines are still the poster boys, and I don't think that's going to change; if it were, I think you'd have seen GW start diversifying the Sisters more, in the same way that they did for Marine chapters back in the day. Sisters are all still nuns with guns, fundamentally. I dig their look and their vibe but the fact that they still fill only that one niche says to me that they're not meant to actually compete with SM for top billing.Thing is, GW regards itself as being first and foremost a miniatures company; everything else, the lore, the rules, it's just a reason to buy more plastic. Creating a digital version of WH40k would be defeating the point, from their perspective.

The Kill Team listbuilding rules intrigues me. There's a lot of potential for GW to fuck up and let the T'au bring 2 fireteams of Crisis Suits, which I am broadly in favor of.I agree with the first and not with the second for the reason gave. The big thing for me is that as long as Space Marines command the lion's share of the lore, the total lack of FSM means that women will be severely underrepresented. There's just no two ways about it: when your protagonists are overwhelmingly Space Marines, and Space Marines are 100% men, your protagonists will be overwhelmingly men. I think that the better option for FSM is the Primaris. Have some backwater system receive instructions for how to make Primaris Marines, but they're a little bit messed up because Astropathic communication is not 100% reliable and they don't realize that Astartes be women, so they try it with both sexes and it works. Cawl wasn't even necessarily trying to make that happen, but it did anyway.

This is the thing, yeah. It's 6 of one and half a dozen of the others, but even if the other two clans sexist (doubt), the Zenins lost all of their trained fighters at minimum during Maki's rampage precisely because they're so sexist; even if the women were spared as noncombatants, they wouldn't be trained sorcerers because of Zenin prejudices. So they probably don't qualify as a major power anymore.

As soon as the Soul Society arc starts, you can start seeing the problems that'll eventually bring the series down. It's still good at that point, don't get me wrong - the wheels don't really come off until the Hueco Mundo/Fake Karakura Town stuff is almost over. But the issues begin mounting then and they just pile up over time. Tite Kubo should be an artist, not a writer, because he's so fucking stylish, but it's very apparent that the plot is just a thinly-constructed excuse to get you to the next Super Cool Moment with brand-new characters, none of whom manage to get their due, because the cast is constantly expanding beyond the ability of anybody to control. Also in the final arc Jesus is the bad guy but not in an interesting way. Which feels .

There was this episode of The Weeds about inflation, past and present. Apparently a big reason for previous spikes was that there used to be rules limiting the interest rates on savings accounts, so when prices started to climb, your money got dramatically less valuable, leading to inflationary spirals as people tried to get in before prices got too high, which of course just drove them up further. Those laws were de-facto abolished when they introduced things like money market savings accounts, so now, the response to rising prices on big-ticket items is just "oh, guess I'll hold off." Means that there's way less random inflation spikes than there used to be in the past. And then we get into the whole issue of this specific spike having real supply-and-demand issues, like the chip shortage and the rental car agencies rebuilding their fleets.

I've got 20k in student loans, I'd love to see them vanish. But if he doesn't have the authority he doesn't have the authority. It'll take an act of congress which should probably also tackle cost of college. As for the bankruptcy thing, I actually do know the answer to that. It's part of the regulatory framework that created student loans generally. Companies can't turn down people for loans, but they got the bankruptcy stuff in exchange - which in the abstract makes sense, since the whole foundation of granting loans is "can this person be reasonably expected to pay this back." The issue is that the knock on effect of this was the massive inflation in prices, meaning that nearly everybody who wants to go to college has to get loans. Free community College will actually probably go a ways to defusing this by giving a lot of people a way to get a degree without going to a 4 year school, but there needs to be a more systemic response to the cost problem.

Rereading Bleach, and... man, this is stylish. But even as early as the Soul Society arc, you can feel the things that'll eventually drag it down. Fights are a series of thinly-justified powerups. The cast keeps exploding in size, with old members continuously forced to job. And literally both of the first two big arcs (discounting the substitute reaper stuff) rely on damseling its female characters, which is a recurring thing inside of the arcs, too - women get done dirty here. Even before that, you could totally see it, which surprised me - I had basically only fond memories of the series through Soul Society ending. But Fake Karakura Town highlighted the problems that were already building up. So less running out of steam and more finally running out of space to avoid Kubo's issues as a writer. Chad getting a whole fight devoted to him with not one but lengthy powerups and then immediately going down like a sack of rocks in Hueco Mundo was sort of the inflection point between "good Bleach" and "bad Bleach" imo. But it's the same stuff the series had been dealing with since surprisingly early in its run. And yes, that is what I was implying. It makes so much more sense this way.

Idk about Amumu as an example, they're buffing him in LOL with the specific goal of making him better in higher elo. There's champions in League that are mostly kept to lower elos not because they're memes but because they're simple to pilot. Harder champions should in theory reward that increased difficulty. But there's not really an equivalent expression in Runterra - even simple champions can be in complex decks, and vice versa. Kills toplaners. *badum-tsh*

There's art for my girl Senna's champion card out there and it looks fire. In other news, dual region cards are all but confirmed, and I'm still wondering how they'll interact with deck building restrictions. Does having one dual region card in your deck lock you into those two regions? That feels clunky. But letting you draft anything that shares a region with your dual region cards would obviously lead to abuse as people chain regions to build Goodstuff decks. I think it'd be neat if Bandle City was basically a "colorless" region, sorta like artifacts in Magic, so you could put their cards in any deck. Prolly won't be tho.

The big issues with the league VN come from it being done by the skin team, IMO. And not even in a "oh they're just trying to sell the skins" kind of way; if your job has been to write little character excerpts making one character look cool and describe the world in a broad strokes kind of way, with an exclusive focus on people who're already part of a theme... and then you get told to write a 100k world story... you're not going to just suddenly shake that off.

Unlimited range is a good change, as is special rules that let you bypass saves... maybe ranged weapons won't be nigh-on useless this time. I've been thinking on it, and the shapes thing makes more sense to me now. The movement is the key, pretty obviously; having it be 3xO is distinct from just 6", and it reads better than 3x2".

I'm doing a pre-New World reread, since I just did the New World stuff on my last go-through. Currently early in Water 7. Few thoughts: -This is a better than most of the New World content. -That said, the Davy Back Fight arc was really really really really really bad. -I forgot just how unhinged Enel was during Skypiea. Dude was . Kind of crazy we never got a reason why he was the way he was. -There's a of fakeout deaths here. Especially notable during Alabasta and Skypiea. -The writing (or the Viz localization, at least) has this very old-school comics tone to it... people describing what the art is portraying. I actually quite like it. This is mostly gone by the arc I'm on, but early on, it was quite refreshing. -Oda's already showing his chops on the big chaotic fights. Lot of very cool climaxes. I think that Skypiea feels the most like Onigashima out of most of the ones so far. Super OP final boss, way too many perspectives to keep track of easily, things fall into a bit of a muddle. But most of the other arc climaxes are just pure quality. Great stuff.

Being more serious, there's a fair few Jedi who are either already canon and known to have survived, or from the old canon but don't violate it so badly as to be a problem if they bring them back in. The biggest criteria has to be "do they break the series if they stick around with Mando and Grogu," since I really, really doubt that they're going to split the two for any significant length of time. That's less about power and more about philosophy. They have to be willing to roll with Mando's job, but not be so in line that they don't add anything to show besides training Grogu and lightsaber combat scenes. Maybe it's just because I really liked the character, but I'd love it if they could work a Jolee Bindo sort of figure into it. Force user, rejects the Jedi/Sith stuff, approaches the Light and Dark side of the force from a different perspective.

The of quality television has changed to exclude procedural/Thing Of The Week shows in favor of more heavily serialized stories, but that's not a lifting of standards, just a changing of them. A lot of my favorite shows of all time have been case of the week sorta deals without much serialization, and I think they hold up very well, for the most part, due to the focus on characters over plot. The thing to remember here is that the Blue Sky shows had like 2x more eps per season than Mando, so from a per-episode count, I think it's basically keeping pace. Gets crazier per-minute. Honestly I think that the king of the issues with Mando is that the writing we do get tends to be very middling. There's cool moments, but they're mostly visual. The mostly-silent, 50% faceless main cast means that they're relying on side characters to provide most of the character work in any given episode, and they really just don't seem to be up to the job.

Honestly, the most sensible explanation that reconciles everything is that it's either a retcon to the Deathwatch - that the Children of the Watch just refers to foundlings taken in by them, and not the group as a whole, and that the stuff with the helmets and the ritual is just supposed to give them some new flavor. But it wouldn't be hard to say that they're a subgroup within the Deathwatch who just didn't come up until now, which is why the soldiers who saved Din had Deathwatch insignia. They were Deathwatch in the broad sense, but were specifically Children of the Watch, who have slightly different rules. After the rise of the Empire they split from the larger group and became even more insular, thus Din not knowing about all this stuff. Pick your flavor, really. Personally I don't mind retcons all that much so I'm good with either.

They blew through the Pro Hero arc last season too, so I'm inclined to agree with the theory that the production sees class 1-A as the only real selling point and will move aggressively to cut down on any story beats not featuring them. It's just that the larger meaning was impossible to intuit absent the cultural context. I feel the fear of supply line micromanagement but honestly I think all PDX games need like this. Adding supply lines would solve the death blob issues in Stellaris and CK3 too - suddenly, maintaining an army of 40000 people in the 1200s gets a lot less viable when you have to figure out how to feed all those fuckers, and if you were worried about your singular fleet of megadreadnaughts getting cut off from ammo and rations, you'd probably be a lot less eager to put all your eggs in one basket.

It doesn't have to be more complex. Just 2, 3 things: armies have a supply total and a supplies/soldier bandwidth; territories also have a supply total. If you have more soldiers than you have bandwidth, you suffer attrition until you don't. If your army depletes both their carried and local supplies, they suffer attrition until they're gone or you move them to somewhere that lets them restock. Depleting local supplies pisses off anybody who hasn't given your people permission to travel through their lands. Easy enough.

As long as I'm in the thread, I did start messing around with Stellaris again recently. Finally got Federations and got a game far enough that the galactic community formed. Part of the issue that I'm running into is that almost everybody is broadly in favor of almost everything because the AI doesn't really prioritize well. There's also almost no way to move people from one a yes vote to a no or vice versa. So gaming the system seems to be about having as huge an economy as possible and just buying so many favors that you can forcibly take over the vote, but this only works on issues that come for a vote, meaning you can get stuck in decades of self-canceling proposals that are just broadly popular enough to get voted on. Feels like it'd be a lot cooler with other players, is what I'm trying to say.

I really adore how... idk how to put it, I guess Blue Box is? It's just so sweet and measured. I feel like with a lot of other series, everything is so over the top that it just sort of fades into a raucous noise like some really terrible DJ mix. Blue Box keeps itself focused, but still with plenty of humor and heart. MHA is just on this whole other level artwise compared to everything else in the magazine aside from some of the monthlies, but honestly... just outrageous how good Horikoshi is lately. Plot is moving in interesting ways too.

I've always felt like the charitable version is that it's about Khorne being kind of the OG chaos god, and Slaanesh being the new kid on the block. Khorne is about as basic as basic gets: rage, blood, skulls, he's happy. Slaanesh is all about extremes, but it's any . It's the broadest portfolio of any of the gods, and it infringes on Khorne's territory in a way the others don't, and he fucking hates that.

I think I'd like it if the next 2 trailers were Slaanesh vs. Cathaay and Nurgle vs. Tzeentch, with the last faction (assuming it exists) getting its own trailer. Clearly they want it to be a big reveal. Nurgle and Tzeentch freaking hate each other, and we should get some Chaos vs. Chaos action, since in all likelihood that's what a lot of each campaign will be. That leaves Slaanesh to fight Cathay, if we're keeping the same structure as the Kislev vs. Khorne reveals.

Nah, the big rivalries are Khorne vs. Slaanesh and Nurgle vs Tzeentch, generally. Nurgle is all about stasis, Tzeentch is all about change. The reasoning on the other one varies. None of them get along ofc, but those are the typical pairings.

FWIW, it wouldn't be unique in that. League of Legends does this annoying thing where the event passes are a) timed b) real-money only and c) don't give you any discount at all on future passes. They also mostly give you points that're only good for lootboxes by themselves. I think that I'd be okay with them having the buyback in there as a timed option (as in, the cosmetics are there forever, but the consumables/points go away when the new pass drops) but I expect that they'll just have it be full pass fully available forever and you have to pay full price for each one.

Fwiw the "ban gain of function research" take isn't unique to Stewart. It's not even new. The upsides are dubious and the risks are demonstrable - forget COVID, we've seen a number lab leaks over the years in other contexts. If it did as promised and got us ready for future pandemics, fine, but the big breakthrough that got us the vaccine didn't come from gain of function research. Pointing out that the cost/benefit doesn't seem to be there isn't really anti-science in a general sense.

It suggests a very different approach than what a lot of people here (and on Twitter) have pushed for, and I think it's kind of what the WH is doing, mostly. If you try to pressure them they're just going to put their backs up. You need to take a softer touch if you want to move them. Speaking to the tone of the thread for a second... Folks need to go on a rage diet, I think. There's not a lot any of us can do right now, and just constantly reading about everything that's going wrong is just going to send people into a tailspin. Tau's issues are more structural, though. GW has decided (rightly, I think) that the core function of the army is unhealthy for the game and deliberately needed it out of viability. The entirety of 9th Ed is about not letting people castle up and try to shoot the other guy off the board. Objectives, terrain, even board size, all work against the only stuff the Tau have ever been good at. An army cannot exist in only the shooting phase nowadays ane expect to succeed, but that's all Tau have in the toolkit, other than Kroot I guess. They're gonna need a lot of work to fix.

The problem is that if you give Crisis Suits obsec there's very little reason to take anything . They'd just be wildly superior to every other unit in the code, other than maybe a few heavy support options to hold the backline. You'd be right back to the Triptide problem where there's no kind of internal balance any more, unless you nerf the hell out of the crisis suits on points or stats, in which case you're right back to everything in the book just being bad. I've talked about it in the past, but my ideal solution is that they go even harder on the stuff that's good about Fire Caste - coordinated, long-range, synergistic shooting - and also produce a Codex: Auxiliaries so that they can flesh out the "alien coalition" part of the T'au and fill in the gaps on what their line can do. Let the original Codex: Tau be that modern military force, but have Kroot, Vespid, Tarellians, Demiurg, and whatever else to do the ugly "get up close with those power armored monsters and hold the point" stuff. Soup 'em together for maximum effect. But, again, I'm not sure anybody in GW cares enough to do more than slap a bandaid on it.

Ehhh, there's conceptual room for variety amongst the Marines. Some chapters have hobbies outside of fighting, like the Blood Angels. Other times, the individual Marines have enough personality to make for some fun moments. I read this excerpt earlier where a pair of Dark Angels get in some trouble because they stopped on the way to a briefing to, no other way to put it, play with the Captain of the Ravenwing's jetbike. Goofy stuff. The issue is more that the Marines are victims of sturgeon's law. 90% of everything is dreck, and most 40k books are about Marines, so there's a of terribly-written Space Marine stories, bits and pieces of which inevitably infect the rest of the canon.

In the first book, there's this moment where he and Amberly dive through this gap Jurgen shot in the wall of a tunnel right before it collapses, and the way the narration describes that he must have lost his mind or something to be digging it out the way he was really sticks with me. This is a guy who cannot give himself the credit he deserves, even for clearly heroic impulses. But just to remind you of what setting this is, he still immediately executes the infected Guardsmen at the end of the story. Cain's a good soul by the Imperium's standards, but he's still a part of it.

Calgar has had a lot of insecurities since Guilliman came back and essentially negated his entire reason for being. Primarchs never do anything for one reason when they can do it for 6, but my read on Guilliman there was that his issues were more with the state of affairs writ large than any particular failing on Calgar's part.

Gotta agree with LTWheels. Total War is built, fundamentally, on clashing infantry lines. Cavalry flank, ranged units fire over, but those infantry remain at the core. 40k is anachronistic, but it's still sufficiently modern as to not mesh well with the core systems of Total War combat. They'd have to totally revamp tactical combat, and at that point, might as well call it something else.

Whaaaat, GW selling models in a super inconvenient package? Never. Idk, I don't have the rulebook, but just looking at the numbers it definitely like if you want a Blackshield, you need at least 6 models. Otherwise, Blackshield would be listed as an upgrade option for the vets, rather than as a model in and of themselves. If it then it gets weird.

Mechanicus has a ton of fans, but I tried it and it just wasn't there. Been spoiled by Firaxis I guess, XCOM just plays so smoooooth. And yes, it'd be fantastic. Combine it with the DOW2 loot stuff for more of an SRPG feel. Oooooh you could have standard loot legendary loot as your guys use it and it becomes storied artifacts of the chapter/squad/Deathwatch fortress/whatever. Shit, now I'm getting annoyed this doesn't exist. Design your own custom chapter in the Indomitus Founding complete with picking gene-seed traits and founding bonuses like Firstborn veterans, you're meant to be shipped out to the Crusade but the Warp scatters your fleet to parts unknown, command your squad and attempt to establish yourself in a dangerous region of space against Xenos and Chaos. Manage your Battle- Brothers as they level up and both they and their equipment become legend. See, part is solvable without too much difficulty, I think. For each planet, use the county model that TW3K used, where there's a primary settlement and various secondary population centers and points of interest. Armies land by detachment and have to fight their way across the planet from there, unless you go through the lengthy process of re-embarking them to orbit. Taking the full planet opens up options for development that you would otherwise lack, and some planets would be more complex and harder to take than others. Planets would be consolidated into systems, which in addition to having their own points of interest beyond planets that you can use as fortifications or asteroid mining or what have you, would be connected to each other by Warp currents that dictate what routes you can take (or prefer to take, maybe you could have a movement mode where you can take the slow-but-direct route to bypass systems). It's certainly a more complex model than what most TW games have used so far, but not by nearly as much as the tactical combat. The campaign would be structured a little more like Total War Attilla than a conventional TW game, since the Imperium is so much bigger than everybody else, but I think it'd work. The tactical combat is what would really need work.

I should say, it's a design other than that. Like you said, it's impressively baroque, and the proportions of the arms and legs of the walker calls to the other Sisters walkers like the Penitent Engines, that sort of strange, scarecrow look (in a good way). Just expand out the torso a little so there's room for the limbs inside of the thing and you're golden as far as I'm corned.

There's a lot to be said about the 40k-specific stuff it does well, but it's hard not to just get buried in how much better Abnett is as a compared to the guys who did the first three Siege books. The prose is head and shoulders above the others, the characters feel way more like people - even the ones who were already in the other books - and the plot is much, much more compelling. It was worth forcing my way through for thisif only just. A legit great book. Gonna spoil some stuff because it's relatively new and also because unlike the others there's some stuff I would legit regret having been spoiled on: The next Siege book is apparently by John French, so we'll see how much of gets picked up immediately. Found this on Eurogamer's article (blurb, really) about the trailer:Sounds like we're either playing a custom character, or the whole squad are pressed convicts. I'm kind of hoping more for the latter. It'd give them an excuse to make the characters more eccentric or play them against type, and besides, the squad dynamics were the best part of 1 and 2. Fully customizable characters would probably make that impossible to replicate.

FINALLY finished . What a dreadful book. I mentioned this to Red, and he pointed out that there was a climactic showdown between Kharn, Sigismund, Dorn, and Perturabo and somehow it felt boring. Nothing about this book worked on any level. Forrix struggling to survive behind enemy lines didn't land because there was never any real indication that the traitors were at risk of losing the battle. Zenobi and the Adabba Free Corps ended up being a huge shaggy dog story with 0 meaningful buildup. The Fists defending the port felt pointless because other than the opening engagement they just lost over and over. Abaddon was completely invincible in every scene he was in. Katsuhiro came back to do nothing. Keeler's stuff was like... oh cool this is their first exposure to a covert chaos cult but we know exactly how this ends from minute 1 so... Ugh. I even read the author's notes a bit because I had to figure out this happened. Zenobi's story was apparently supposed to be about the subtlety of treason and was supposed to be a revelation without pulling the rug out from under the reader and I gotta say, it did not work. At all. It really just raised even more questions that the book made no attempt to answer. When did Adabba flip sides? Why were there even Imperial Cult worshippers prostletyzing in there if the entire force was meant to be secretly subverted from the word jump? I don't get it. Anyway, after some debate, I moved on to instead of taking a Siege break with , because is literally why I came back to the Heresy era books in the first place, and by god I'm gonna get what I came here for. I owe it to myself for getting through . And man, 40 pages in, I'm fucking loving it. Abnett is just as a writer than Thorpe could ever hope to be. Sure, there's some odd inconsistencies - the void shields block weather now, even though there was a whole bit about how they fuck up the snow in . And now the Lion's Gate and the Lion's Gate Spaceport are the same edifice. But I don't care. The writing quality is just such an upgrade. Like night and day, on every level. Abnett can write people who talk like people and can actually pace a damn scene. The banter between the Mournival and Eidolon? *mwah*. So glad I'm finally done with

Yeah, don't bother trying to read the books "in order." Specific series or storylines, sure. But No way. You'd just be torturing yourself. Speaking self-harm, I'm still thinking about . This is a thing that carries through over all the books, but it was especially evident here: nobody's really addressing the fact that none of Dorn or Perturabo's strategic genius really... amounts to anything. Like, maybe that's because they're equally matched, but Dorn got sucker punched in (granted, by weird ritual stuff he wasn't ready for) and by Kroeger in , who everybody around him seems to think is a moron. Perty, meanwhile, is gloating about drawing a great hand but is ignoring the fact that his entire plan is "just smash the shit out of them with attrition because we can afford to do that because we have so much more men and materiel than the loyalists do." That doesn't take a strategic genius, Perty. This is kind of a whole about Perturabo's character. He's the siege specialist, the breaker of fortresses, but he's the dude who just tosses his people into a meatgrinder over and over. That doesn't suggest, to me, any real aptitude for warfare at all. It's actually kind of a defining trait of incompetent commanders in most media.

What exactly an Imperial Saint is sort of a contested topic in-universe. Saint Celestine and the Legion of the Damned were affected by the anti-warp pylons on Cadia, but not completely shut down like the Daemons were. Ephrael Stern, meanwhile, is totally unbothered by similar structures in other stories. Clearly, whatever the superpowered Saints are, they're not Daemons, unless the Emperor's anti-Chaos Anathema stuff gives them some special properties that make them behave unllike regular conventional Warp manifestations for some reason.

Everybody they're dealing with is operating on their own agenda, has at least as much information as they do, and has more actual power. Sometimes they get manipulated into being useful, but other than that the only thing I can think of is maaaaaybe convincing Valoris that it'd be worth taking his seat in the High Lords? But it's kind of implied he was going to do that anyway. WH40k reading update! Chewed through both of the novels (and ) in quick succession. Fun reads, both of them, and pretty quick. I feel like in both of them, the third perspective (the Chancellor of the Imperial Senate, though the role changes hands between books) was a little underbaked - most of what I found interesting in the second was how that character had a very different perspective on her relationship with the first than he did in his segments in the first book. In theory, a more political maneuvering focused perspective on events is very cool, but in both cases they're just hugely outmatched by the system in front of them and don't really accomplish much. There's some narrative value to that, I suppose, but it doesn't make for a very satisfying read. They still offer a very different perspective on events to almost all other 40k characters, though, who tend to be either helpless civilians or some flavor of physical/psychic badass, so I'm definitely still glad they were included. Of the other two perspectives, I found myself really enjoying Aleya (the Sister of Silence)'s view on things. She's cynical and not afraid to mouth off (so to speak), which is a rare attribute in 40k characters, outside of Cain. There was one disconcerting moment with her where she just sorta... mind-blasts a member of the Palace waitstaff for no good reason? Like, sure, it's 40k, almost nobody here is a good person, but that's no cause to be cruel to the waiter (so to speak). I really like her, otherwise, but it's a hard thing for me to move past for some reason. Valerian (the Custode) was decent as well, but honestly it was pretty clear that he was mostly there for some exposition on the Custodians and to facilitate the guardian spear porn. Still, despite my issues, they're both very good books by 40k standards. Solid prose, decent plotting and character writing, and on net a lot of fun commentary about the Imperium and the setting, if that's your thing. Gotta embrace the unreliable narrator for some of it (the first Chancellor going "actually, the High Lords really are the best people to be leading the Imperium and we should be glad they're here, and also it's good that we get massive privileges even while so many starve" comes to mind), but it's still fun getting stuff like Valerian musing on how things wouldn't be going half as badly if the High Lords put a tenth of the money they spend on cathedrals into building and filling granaries. Very big picture thinking from a golden banana. After that, read some Siege of Terra stuff. I fell off the Horus Heresy a WAYS back, so some of the events being referenced are lost on me, but they mostly do an okay job of filling in the gaps through context. Got through and quite quickly. Found the writing much better in the first than the second, but both have a lot to recommend them. is mostly a 40k naval combat thing, and while John French is not David Weber (or whoever your favorite space opera combat guy is, if you're not as fond as I am of ships firing missile counts that have to be expressed in power notation), there's still some cool scenes and fun twists. The way the novel ends makes it all feel pointless, but I suppose that having the traitors keep the upper hand throughout the preliminaries was to be expected. Still don't like Abaddon much, though.takes a hit on the prose front, but does move to ground combat, which Guy Haley is pretty good at. Takes a little while to get rolling, but once it does it goes by very quickly. I liked Katsuhiro a lot here. Unlike, the Primarchs were a big focus here, so we got some cool stuff with the Khan, Sanguinius being mopey, Dorn being Dornish, and Malcador being weirdly casual with all of them. I the stuff with the Night Lords fighting the Blood Angels for control of the wall and Kharn trying to contain Angron (and himself). Currently kinda stuck on , which I am just enjoying much. A lot of 40k combat has this problem where only one side is allowed to be good at their jobs at a time - it's what makes most bolter porn so dreadfully predictable. Halfway in, and Gav Thorpe is not doing a good job of preventing this issue from rearing its head. We get a whole chapter of the Imperial Fists effortlessly dismantling a traitor advance, and then a slew of chapters from the traitor's perspective where the Fists seem completely incapable of mustering a response to their advance, then back to the Fists crushing heretics, then back to the heretics crushing Imperials... nobody hits significant resistance, somehow. The plotlines are getting real muddy, too. Mostly at this point I just wanna push through it to get to which I've heard really good things about.

I doubt they'll ever get into details on the two of them - the meta reason for the lost legions to be lost (namely, so you can invent your own Primarch for Your Guys to be descended from) probably means that they'll never really fill out that time period. Though they could disconnect the Lost Legions from the Rangdan Xenocide and just do a 30k Dark Angels series there.I they either outright retconned that or at least rendered it speculation, along with the "actually each of the Hive Fleets are themselves just tiny splinters of the true fleet" lore because anything that big would have a mass on par with the galaxy itself and honestly that puts the setting on a very firm timer and I don't think they want to do that, lol.

The mechanics of how the 2nd and 11th were removed from the minds of the others is fascinating. It's not a mindwipe, more of a compulsion to not think about them, and to get distracted when they try to remember the details. I have this pet theory that they turned against the Imperium to protect some kind of Xenos civ, or Xenos-aligned civ. Only thing I can think of that would merit the wholesale erasure. Funny, Morty was actually one of the less-likely cases. Most of the others fell, he got pushed. Trapped in the warp, his Marines dying around him until he swore himself to Nurgle just to make it stop. Fulgrim was also pretty forcibly corrupted by the Laer blade. Most time-bomby I would say were Angron, due to the Butcher's Nails, Lorgar, due to him coming from a culture that worshipped Chaos and him trying to worship Empy, and Curze, because Curze was batshit insane from the moment he clawed his way to his planet's surface. The rest could've probably gone either way. Personally, my fave's Vulcan, but it's gotta be undestood that it's all relative. He's a humanitarian by Primarch standards, but that just means he feels bad about causing all those innocent deaths. The Khan is similarly bro-tier, as Primarchs go. And honestly, leaving the Primarchs laying around probably wouldn't have worked out better, long-term. Roboute already had a stellar empire of 500 worlds. Dorn apparently hails from another star-empire, though we know basically nothing about it. Most of the others would've gotten out there eventually, and then you've got 21 (can't forget Omegon) interstellar warlords, but now they're all fighting each other rather than moving in the same direction. The mistake was making them to begin with, imo.

Not really. That's one of the big things about the post-Great Rift stories following Guilliman. He is viewed as a demigod by most people - those who either have faith in him on principle or meet him in person tend to outright worship him. But even that doesn't give him the power to fix all the problems in the Imperium, including the hold the Ecclesiarchy has over most citizens. He actually has a procession of Ecclesiarchal liaisons who keep going crazy. At this point, he's basically accepted that he can't force people to not believe he's a god. This is sort of his whole problem. Yes, he's the Lord Regent. Yes, he's a demigod. But that doesn't mean he can just wave his hands and have people do what he wants them to. He still has to manage the various factions that make up the rickety leaking ship that is the Imperium. And that means accepting a lot of stuff that absolutely galls him. Still a mass-murdering warlord, so no. Every Primarch had no choice but to, as part of the Great Crusade, roll over dozens if not hundreds of worlds that refused to join the fold. That requires a ton of killing.

Emps isn't a moron, he's an asshole. He basically gave up on things getting better without his direct intervention, and decided to take the by-force approach to everything. The Primarchs were the direct consequence of that - the ultimate warlords. But creating beings like the Primarchs creates risks of its own. The ultimate tools of control, but too powerful and volatile to really be controlled themselves. And it's a mess he created himself by not wanting to take the softer, kinder approach. He needed weapons capable of conquering the galaxy in his name, on a tight schedule, for his plans to succeed. If he'd set different goals, and accepted different methods, he might not have found himself dealing with so many unstable superpowered manchildren. If he wasn't, he might've been able to trust his agents enough to warn them against Chaos, and the whole thing might not have happened. It's not about intelligence, it's about goals, mindset, and moral failings. In a way, it mimics the dynamic in 40k. The Imperium demands absolute loyalty from its citizens, and it extracts every ounce of value it can from them in crushing fashion. This creates the circumstances Chaos needs to grow in the first place. After all, if you're already living in hell, why not sell your soul for a little comfort? The Imperium's own inhumanity creates the circumstances that bleed them so badly that they feel the need to act inhumanly.

This puts paid to that. The very best anybody in the Imperium can hope for is to make it to full adulthood. Everything after that makes you luckier than average.

I feel like they've given the Imperium a few too many good guy points, tbh. Guilliman is struggling against the weight of the bureaucracy, sure, but they've increasingly focused on parts of the Imperium where any faults that exist are less their doing and more due to factors beyond their control. Makes it easy for the fanboys (and fashy parts of the fanbase) to make excuses.

Rather than another undersupported Eldar faction (looking at you, Harlequins) I'd really prefer they go for the T'au Auxilliaries. I loved that idea/rumor that got posted a while back that they go into more of a full Covenant mode due to the Chaos invasion and the Startide Nexus combining to make them a hub for galactic refugees. Move traditional T'au units into more of an elite army role and fill out the holes in the list with a bunch of different aliens, maybe one or two units per species but tied together with some obviously T'au equipment on top. Like, get Kroots some armor pieces with Sept symbols or something like that, so they'd look like a cohesive force even with a ton of different species and their specialty equipment on the table. That's an aesthetic we just don't have in 40k right now.

Eh, they're supposed to be an army - they're really very limited in that context. Not to mention there are more named Harlequin characters in the Imperium than in the Harlequins.Personally, more than fleshing out existing auxiliaries, I'd prefer if we got a bunch of new ones. Kroot and Vespid and Gue'Vesa should be present, but I'd like to see most of the models be new species.

I'm not super familiar with the particulars of plastic vs. reisin, but as a rule, once you have an injection mold designed and made, the cost per unit is suuuuuuper low. So it's a question of "do you think you'll sell enough to justify the initial investment." Whereas I kind of get the impression from the way they run Forge World that making each model is kind of a PITA. So I feel like they'd probably favor doing it in plastic if they do it at all.

Just expanding on this a little bit... WH40k lore is very weird. It's huge, rambling, and frequently contradictory. This is because it's founded on one simple principle: Your Guys Are Canon. Whatever the hell you want to do with them, they're real, they exist in the setting, they are every bit as valid as any of the examples in the codices. So, sure, Hello Kitty dreadnaughts and cat-head Sororitas. Go wild. That's the whole point.

So, with "castle up and shoot them off the board" armies apparently being dead in the new edition, I'm wondering what they're gonna do for T'au in their codex update, since that was kinda their whole for at least the last few editions. They don't really have the tools for getting up close now that FLY got nerfed, and besides, their objective securing troops are all pretty bad. Dunno what the gameplan is there. Cain is a delight, easily my fave Warhammer books, the writing does get kinda formulaic. Not in a bad way, mind, but it's definitely in the procedural/episodic mold of storytelling where once you figure out the formula you can usually call what's gonna happen in advance. And the writer is very fond (or rather, has decided to write Cain as being very fond) of particular patterns of speech so there's a lot of repeated phrasing. Again, despite that, I'd rate them as my all-time favorite 40k books. It's been great seeing people pick up on the series thanks to the TTS vid.

The shootiest army in the game being pretty terrible at shooting absent markerlights is not great yeah. What I'd to see is them further lean into the "T'au are an evolution of modern military" to contrast them with the Imperium drawing from various flavors of history. Small squads, heavily mechanized and mobile. Markerlights should be like you say, a nice bonus for shooting at hard targets, but they shouldn't need them to be effective in regular engagements. It'd almost be interesting to see them retire the basic non-mech Fire Warrior/Breacher infantry and roll out something between a Stealth Suit and a Crisis Suit as the new default troop option. Jumpjets, variety of weapon loadouts, still squishy but better at shooting and scooting. Get drones back to being buff and extra guns rather than giant piles of ablative Riptide wounds.

I liked the idea that somebody suggested that GEQ (guard equivalent) units are 1W, MEQ (marine equivalent) are 2W, and TEQ (termie equivalent) are 3W. That feels good and fluffy.

It's all relative, but by Imperium standards, they're outright humanitarians. Probably my favorite thing about them is that when they're not deployed, they don't just spend all their time training or meditating or even doing their Chapter-specific thing (making and maintaining their own weapons and armor). They go down to their homeworld and just... interact with people, in the cities and the villages, out of armor. Visit their families, or their family's descendants. Provide advice or simply talk to regular ass humans.

Everybody else gets killed off but you survive and join the rest of the Inquisitor's retinue. That squad wouldn't be too bad, but I'd prefer some weirdness. The Ogryn is good, but I'd hope for a sanctioned Psyker and maybe a Sister or Ecclesiarch, a Xenos mercenary - all of the guys in that keyart kinda run together thematically (except the large lad, ofc). One of the cool things about Vermintide was how distinct all the characters looked, acted, and felt.

For Tau Auxiliaries, I'd really diversify the army. Kroot mostly just need new rules, maybe some updated sculpts, but other than them I'd like a of different races represented. Like, Gue'Vesa as a troop choice and maybe sanctioned psykers should be all the humans - bring in a lot of one-of weird aliens to fill out the roster. Of the existing armies, Eldar don't really need new designs for the most part, it all holds up really well, but so much of their line is finecast and stuff that they can probably get new sculpts while they're at it. Guard could use a revamp pretty badly as well. Tyranids deserve some new models, it's been ages, but most of their stuff is still good, so idk. Tau would definitely be way down my list unless they wanted to do a modernization of the Crisis suits, but ehhhh not really necessary.

There's one that's actually assumed control over an entire planet of leftover humans and runs the place like a feudal society. The Tau try to take it over and it produces weapons strong enough to bounce them right off the world. Some people think that. They're wrong. Like you and Red said, the Imperium was founded on 3 principles: the Imperial Truth, xenocide, and the supremacy of the Emperor over mankind. The Imperial Truth was a lie (and hypocritical, considering how he brought Mars into the fold), the reasoning for xenocide was basically the Great Betrayal propaganda spread by the Nazis so *probably* based on a lie, and so we're left with point 3. Emps is a tyrant, first and foremost. Whatever his other plans and aspirations and personality, it all breaks before that. It's also worth noting that the only people who can be described as his contemporaries (the other Perpetuals) all seem to dislike him to varying degrees.

He's basically a regular 'cron, but bigger, and with a fancy C'tan material cloak (same digital cube effect going on with the Void Dragon shard). Also, I'd point out that we don't actually know that the Void Dragon is the Omnissiah. There's that line from the UR-25 short story, with him having met the Omnissiah, and UR says that "they would be disappointed" with the AdMech. I wouldn't really associate a word like "disappointed" with the C'tan. It suggests that they had positive expectations in the first place. Thing is, if you're looking for "right termie silhouette," the Aggressors already That's sort of the issue here, in everything except rarity, teleportation, and Crunch, there sort of already is a Primaris termie.

Even if you can tweak the numbers to get the winrate up, it'll feel like shit. Yeah that... does not make a ton of sense. So it's: You cannot target a unit that contains a character with max wounds 9 and under, using a ranged weapon, if that unit is within 3" of a vehicle, a monster, or a friendly unit with 3 or more models, unless that unit is both visible and the closest unit to the unit doing the targeting. Other units that contain character models with max 9 wounds or less do not count when figuring out which unit is closest. I think they'll probably space them out, if it happens. Maybe have 2 - one Cadian, to represent the "baseline," and Catachans, to do something totally different (plus you can probably reuse the legs). But they literally don't exist outside of this one Japanese town, despite the fact that they've got all this incredible technology and that these invasions are a global phenomenon. Not only do they not defend anything outside of that town, they literally don't recruit people from anywhere outside of that one prefecture. This is in spite of having huge personnel requirements, and their number one criteria being an attribute that's apparently both in-born and random (trion levels). He had the barrels stacked on the spar by that point, and none of them blew up on impact, so he shot them, which sink the skeleton sloop but also sunk him. He was all JUST AS PLANNED and hopped into his rowboat to collect the skelly loot, but then could not find it, and also lost his rowboat. He also did not know which direction the nearest outpost was. Phewwwww First session in a while today (couple of friends picked it up and I headed on to show 'em the ropes). Did a few voyages, musta fought like 8+ Skeleton ships, only sank a few. Still ended up with a fair bit of loot on the ship, including 2 drunken chests, about 6 captain's, god only knows how many skulls and gems. Finally, as we're sitting there, final voyage done, only do we see a player ship... flying a Reaper flag. I freak out, they have no idea what's going on, but we get moving to the outpost. I keep peeping on the thing nervously - it's matching our course... and there's another ship at the outpost! Ah damn. But we got lucky. I think the Reapers decided we weren't worth much 'cause no faction flag, and the ship at the outpost saw the two of us coming and ran. We docked (to use the term loosely... you know how it goes, running ashore is *like* docking when you're new), got the loot onto a rowboat and booked it. Reapers never really left, but they were off in the distance so I guess they were probably busy with something else.

Also-also, given what we know about how much importance Japanese hero authorities place on public relations and image, it does make sense to me that they'd feel like they had to keep AfO alive instead of just executing him. That compulsion to keep up appearances.Sidenote, talking about art here, Horikoshi's character designs have been lately. Like, Kid Nagant has a totally different personality and is visibly childish but also still immediately recognizable as Nagant.

I think that this stuff has always been there. It's an escalation, but one in a series, not some dramatic shift. In the very beginning, we saw that Deku got a ton of shit for not having a quirk. Then we got Stain, whose thing was that he felt that heroes were in it for the wrong reasons. Chisaki's arc is about how hero society leaves a lot of people behind. Gentle gets into how punishing it can be for an aspiring hero whose heart is in the right place but doesn't tick the right boxes. Then the various League of Villains characters get into how things really kinda suck for a lot of people because of their quirks and how punishing being born wrong can be. Hawks was explicitly told to assassinate Twice, and has a bunch of other shady stuff going on around the edges. Lady Nagant's backstory fits pretty neatly into that progression, especially when you're considering what we've heard about the pre-All Might times. We know that Japan was defacto ruled by AfO for a very long time, and that a lot of stuff from that period was covered up in the name of protecting the public. It just turns out that it wasn't just the villains' actions that got pushed under the rug.

TBH I'm loving the pacing. Hit the beats, don't let anything drag. I would've maybe had a full extra chapter worth of pages in the last 4-5, maybe? But I'm pretty happy with it overall. Speaking generally, I think buildup is kind of overrated. If a moment sells itself, it sells itself. No need to drag it out. More complex stories can require more groundwork being laid, but this is... not super complex, lol. It's the Maki Revenge Hour. I'm expecting the Culling Game to be more complex, given how much time got spent on rules and prep for it, but this arc is more of a "sit back and enjoy the ride" thing.Yeah, but Special Grade is a broad, broad category, and Toji fucked up everybody less powerful than Full Power Gojo. We don't know if Maki is all the way there, but she's undeniably going to be moving towards the very high end of that range, and all due respect to Naoya... which is not much... I don't think he has what it takes to hang out up there.

Maki went to the Zenins to collect their cursed tools for use in the Culling Game. Her father hid them because he doesn't like that Megumi was made the family head and also has an enormous amount of contempt for and resentment of his daughters because he's an asshole and so is the rest of the family. Maki and Megumi are both sort of outlaws because they're working to free Gojo, which the Jujutusu elders made illegal. Dear ol' dad took advantage of that to advance his agendas, namely, killing his daughters and stopping Megumi from taking control of the family. Maki killed him instead, and now the family is trying to kill her for both the aforementioned reasons and because she just killed a family bigwig.

Maki doesn't have all of Toji's advantages - experience, skill, that anti-sorcery dagger - but she's still very very very far out of Naoya's weight class and it's very very obvious that that's the case. It's tricky. As things stand, Landmarks can only be removed by Landmark-specific cards. So if you increase their payoffs to compensate for their current board-filler status, you create an unhealthy effect from a deckbuilding perspective. Maybe change up how they work so they get a Toughness stat, somehow; that way you can remove them with damage if you really have to. That opens up more potential power.

Not with Overwhelm, but specifically "5 strength chumpblocked by 1 toughness" situations. If so, could be decent. Still massively clunky. It looks like it'll synergize with LeBlanc as well, going off of some stream leaks, and there are other mercenary champs out there; wonder if they're going to tie them all to this mechanic? K/DA... I think I'll need to see the particulars. This came up a little while back, but they need more cards from somewhere. They're making new champ cards faster than Riot is making new champs, after all, but they're making them faster than they're making new So just from a content production standpoint, it makes more sense to make skins into champ cards rather than into alt art for champs. Furthermore, a lot of skinlines will seriously change a champion's themes, so it makes sense to give that some mechanical recognition. Sometimes those shifts are cohesive enough between champs, and the universe the skins pull from are big enough, I almost think you could make them a region. Pulsefire, Project, Odyssey, and Program are big obvious ones. MTG has the existing planewalker lore to justify why all these different settings are in one game, they could do something with that here, or just handwave it. But would I love a High Noon set? Hell yes. So whatever that takes. K/DA... I don't think you could do a K/DA region, lol. But maybe a musician-verse if they were willing to get a little comical with it. K/DA, True Damage, and Pentakill is actually a pretty solid roster. But again, it'd have to be a comedy region, because what do you do with the followers other than groupies and roadies and shit, so maybe not. For these, it'll be weird for now. But they could establish a precedence here for event cards. Breaking new ground, it's kinda exciting.

Skarner having Challenger and then leveling up to Silence enemies blocking him feels really good, thematically. Nasus... yeah, I think Fury works. Fiora's thing is because she takes over a game if you feed her, plus tying into her one vs one challenges thing. For a special mechanic, maybe work on Nasus' lifesteal? Or have him be a raid boss where once he's gotten X power from Fury he levels up into beast mode. Reflecting damage would work really well for Rammus. That feels like it should be a keyword, actually. Azir being Ephemeral focus with a Daybreak component would be cool. He'd want some kind of efficient It's Always Day effect somewhere, though - ephemeral + only getting max bonus out of one unit per turn = feelsbad. I like the idea of Xerath "breaking out" of the coffin over time, plus being a burn/direct damage champ more than a swing in one.

Yall think A Sol's art is good, wait til you hear his voicelines. (I know they're out there already, but his League voiceover is one of the best in the game so I wanted to make the joke) Celestial feels like an absolute favor win. No idea if it'll be a playable archetype, but I wanna give it a shot somehow. I'm too Timmy/Johnny not to.

Those Solari designs being so much better than Leona's actual look has me weeping. The actual card looks good though. Very strong synergy w/ Yas obvs. Her supporting cards are interesting, especially the one that trips Daybreak for everything on the board. Could be an easy finisher. Nightfall looks weirdly like it'll be gated by how easy it is to generate the dust, tbh. Being able to basically shift one mana from spell to main is pretty strong, AND it enables Nightfall without passing priority. Nocturne ahead of curve, yes please.

I am kinda surprised they're not tagged Troll, considering Trundle's probably somewhere in the pipeline and his whole thing at this point is he's the king of the trolls.

There's 13 listed, but I'm assuming that they're not going to do Bandle City, since that's literally just Yordletown and the yorldles in LoR are spread out, and P&Z are counted separately on the regions page. So that's where I'm getting 11. I could see them combining Ixtal and Shurima. They're in around the same area and Ixtal used to be part of the Shuriman Empire when that was a thing. And who knows, maybe Azir will have dragged his ass out of the desert and reconquered it by the time they get there. So if we do a list of 10, it'd be:The only thing about that, for me, is that that means we have... only 2 more regions after Targon? Which feels like too few. But that is a full year and a half of content, if each new set is 3 expansions and each expansion is 2 months apart. So maybe by then they'll be happy to just focus in on filling out existing regions. One thing to keep in mind is that they're going to run out of champs to add from the game in some regions before others. Like, officially, Bilgewater has 7 champs. Demacia has 14. Ionia has You get the idea. They can pad that out by moving champs around a little. There's 19 officially unaffiliated champs, and the Yordles are getting scattered already. But yeah, some regions are just going to have more options than others unless they start shuffling more people around. (Worth noting that since those yordles and unaffiliated champs have already gotten dipped into for existing regions that evening out the numbers perfectly might just not be a priority for them)
