Thread VICE: Lady Gaga is an icon, up there with the likes of Prince, Bowie and Madonna
In light of her chronic pain condition, I don't get people upset that she's not working like she used to - a grueling schedule that quite literally broke her hip. It's interesting priorities, for sure.

Thread Why women criticise sexualised character designs | OT3 | "Her ass is part of her character."
Looking at indie dev stuff and think the designs revealed for 9 Years of Shadows are overall decent with one notable exception This one sticks out as the only female character I saw so far who isn't porcelain and she's giving 'tan skin tone = seductress'

Personally I don't think I'll be playing it, but I wonder what they're going to do about Advance Wars at this point. Subdued release with little fanfare or put it out alongside a bigger game and let that suck up the attention or what also do we have a Direct bingo card going?

Thread Johnny Depp v Amber Heard's defamation trial is underway
You're right, I didn't realise the article was updated over time, because as established there was no indication of such on the article itself. It was an honest mistake and I was corrected and I apologise if my post caused any confusion. I do not appreciate being characterised as a Heard supporter. - Staff cannot realistically be expected to read every single comment in every single thread and resolve reports in a matter of minutes respond to every single personal alert we get which is... so many. Every single day. Still, people demand that often. There are other threads than this currently comprising a bulk of the report queue. These things are not an automatic process. What people don't seem to realise is that when they start backseating whilst complaining that we don't act fast enough, they are quite literally adding to the time it takes for staff to review matters. If getting your little digs in makes you stop being shitty to each other for 5 minutes, so be it. If you want to imagine me as your scapegoat because I'm the one posting at the moment, so be it. Just keep it civil.

Thread Johnny Depp v Amber Heard's defamation trial is underway
I hear all of that. This topic is very difficult for me to read and I'm not willing to go into the why of it, it's too raw. But I previously saw a few sharing their stories and think it's remarkable really and shows this forum at its best. The sheer visibility and lurid details of this case, not to mention the internet in general treating it like entertainment, have caused no insignificant amount of stress to many of us I know that. I say this not for sympathy or excuses, I don't want it. But to illustrate that exactly what is talked about is not unique to you. We all have personhood outside of here. I agree that this thread warrants stronger communication, and I have actually already put that to the rest of staff with the suggestion of a thread reply banner. It feels like people always want a swift response and I can't push that or any decision through alone, these things are always worked on by multiple people first. I only ask for the grace of your patience because we are insanely understaffed in general and lost around a half dozen active mods in the last months. Whatever speed with which people think an old thread was handled, I can assure you it is not really so straightforward all of the time. So lack of communication is one thing, and I don't disagree. But it's also true that several users complaining about inaction did not even make a report to begin with. When I say backseating, it is the ones who accuse us of not caring at all but don't bother to give us something to work with. This approach doesn't help anyone. Nobody is on this site because they "don't care."

They claim a correction palette didn't exist until 2017. It wasn't hard to find this Glamour Magazine article featuring the Milani correction palette shown in the video: / As an aside, their social media manager (or whoever is responsible for this) using a DV case to promote their brand in this manner is disgusting.

Thread A list of my favorite songs explicitly about the PS Vita. What are yours?
Did you know A Thousand Hours by The Cure was written when Robert Smith's 64GB memory card tragically corrupted? The worst nightmare of all us on #VITAISLAND. The lyrics really capture the despair of realising your P4G clear data was not backed up to the cloud. Harrowing stuff.

Thread REgals [Women of Era] |OT| Episode I: The Female Menace
I had to put both of my cats down within the same year (they were close in age and became very ill) and it's just the worst fucking thing. The second actually died as we arrived at the clinic, and since we had to go in during regular operating hours we were made to sit there with our dead cat for 30 minutes waiting to be seen. One year later I still feel so fucking guilty every single day that I didn't take him a day or two earlier and end his suffering properly by emergency appointment. I wanted to scream every second that passed by in that waiting room. If it's any consolation, you're doing the right thing even though it's hard as hell, you aren't making the same selfish mistake I did in looking for signs they could cling on for another day or two.

Thread REgals [Women of Era] |OT| Episode I: The Female Menace
the fact that I even feel compelled to say this in the relative safety of this thread but can't bring myself to venture into the threads where it's happening anymore says so much i just can't when they glom onto any use of 'women' as a catch-all for 'women who specifically are/feel affected by this' to trot out: you don't speak for women. Yeah, neither do you, bud, so why not try to the one you're talking to? I speak for one woman, myself, you can't speak for any at all, womp And of course so many conveniently have this colleague/acquaintance/a cosplayer they saw on twitter who they assume is okay with the topic at hand (and I'm sure they've spoken at length about it... lol) and it's like they expect that person's existence to magically nullify all valid criticisms. It's not actually a revelation that women have varying perspectives unless you were previously operating under the illusion that we're a hivemind. tl;dr I'm tired but bless this thread

Celeste <3 I usually gravitate more to the upbeat characters in this kind of game, but she was hilarious and I found myself looking forward to free time just so I could finish her report card. I just completed DGR2 recently and hoo boy. They crammed so much stuff in there with extra modes and unlockables, V3 is probably gonna be like 65hrs for 100% fml. I've played AA 1-4 and DGR1+2, imo Danganronpa (as a series) tends to suffer with repetitive chapter structures and being a few hours too long, even more so than AA lol. 2 in particular has an utterly pointless levelling system and wastes a little too much time on a story macguffin that goes nowhere, it also has more gratuitous 'fanservice' if that detracts but ymmv. Its setting is cooler to explore, and it has a stronger ending, though it only really pays off if you played DGR1 first. They're both fun, with 2 having more dynamic setting and characters, and 1 being a little more grounded with a tighter structure and less padding. I think the only areas Danganronpa really excels at over Ace Attorney is the trial gameplay (much more varied), and giving you more time with characters to really get a sense of them (though they're mostly still one-dimensional anime archetypes by the end of the game).

Thread Games You've Beaten in December 2021
Many thanks to Horror, chadskin, Clive and others who made these threads what they are for many months. I've kept the old format, but will be adding a few choice quotes about games that people shared their thoughts on, so don't be shy to discuss what you played. Last month was a double tie! The most played games were and , both beaten by 11 people. Second place was and with 6 plays each. Previous top monthly games: Hardcore Gamer of the Month was AniHawk with 20 games beaten! Second place was drinkrust with 19 titles, and coming in third was Palazzo with 10. Here are some highlights from November 2021's thread:

Thread Slate - How Justin Timberlake Came Undone
Timberlake went on a blitz dragging and slut shaming Britney at every opportunity. In interviews, the whole opportunistic Aguilera 'revenge' tour, bringing a naked blow up doll wearing a Britney-style wig on stage at an awards show. This is more than just about one performance and one song, he's simply gross and built a narrative on being this aggrieved male putting a woman in her place. The media played a part but he sure as hell isn't clean in all this, he's an instigator.

They brought up pregnancy/childbirth to partially explain the time gap, clearly. (5 weeks after the fact.) It's weirder to assert it's "just one moment in both family member's lives" as if it's not a major physical event that often has lasting impact. Especially for first-time mothers, you know how common perineal tearing is? Post-childbirth surgery? Some real disingenous nonense in here, there was nothing wrong with Mifec's post taking her kid into account y'all are reaching hard.
