^ This. It's definitely real and I've seen it happen so much where people pounce in support on the person doing the "cancelling" without getting more info or making sure everything is correct. The other point I definitely agree on is when people backtrack and say "Sorry" "Oh, oops" after defending a person when their story falls off. It's a literal mob with no repercussion for their involvement on harassment if it turns out the story is false.Just from quick thinking, Etika comes to mind. I'm sure you can find info on it. Etikas community, ResetEra and some other communities clipped/harassed and everything Etika said while not being mentally sound at the time. Then when he took his life, the same people who were wishing him the worst/death and other stuff, suddenly came out the woodwork and started saying "Oh wow, can't believe he took his own life." "It's sad he took his own life." "RIP he was such a good guy.". Era even released a statement in regards to the whole Etika controversy here. It's why a lot hate was given to Keemstar when Etika took his own life. Keemstar downplayed his mental health, constantly berated him, called him out on stuff and then when he took his own life everyone screenshotted Keemstars tweets, got clips from his videos and audio recordings to show how hypocritical Keemstars "sad" tweets were.
