By definition, a way to hold people accountable for their actions, but imo the way it's applied (especially on places like Twitter) is extremely harmful and causes more harm than good, or do you think that someone should face repercussions for something they did a decade ago when they were a dumb kid, or that a man should lose his job because a person wrongfully assumed he was doing a white supremacist symbol? So every single individual who doesn't like cancel culture thinks diddling minors is fine? Idk about that
Jarvis from Agent Carter was literally in Endgame. This isn't a "believe what you want" scenario. It is a "believe what the movie went out of it's way to tell us" scenario. Why are you being a jerk over something like this?
rihanna off top i mean like look at her bro like wtf i know she a lil freak too i wanna eat her from the front and the back dog like i really be havin fantasies about that shit. who ya'll on?
Sony’s boys crying so loudly so hard
We got Sony's State of Play to be excited about movies...
And people seriously wonder how people fall for shit like Q and 9/11 Conspiracies.
Their work, their choice Just like it is your choice to willingly use their work despite sitting here calling them pathetic childish and other sorts of words
I don't post on here much but just wanted to say thank you , this is exactly how I feel as well. The actual gaming discussion here is great . But often when it goes outside of that purview people become very hypercritical of other opinions of they don't agree with the majority and I often see people banned for what appears to be nothing at times. Which is weird since it seems at times that people can be as nasty and mean as they want on here so long as it's against certain people. I guess it is what it is though.
I agree with him that you can endorse someone's work without necessarily endorsing their personality. An artist is not their art, a programmer is not their code. You might personally be unwilling to separate them, and decide not to use/enjoy someone's work based on what you know about its creator. I feel that way about some things, like Quantic Dream's games after learning about David Cage. But I can still choose to praise things that those games did well, without any implication that I endorse Cage. I also agree that it's important to trust every adult to assess the world around them by themselves, instead of infantilising them by claiming that some things need to be suppressed based on the people behind them. Censorship in general, including fostering an atmosphere where one feels the need to self-censor for fear of disproportionate retaliation, is a bad thing. As for "cancel culture" (for lack of a better term): It treads a thin line between "holding people accountable" and "mob justice". Sometimes the latter masquerades as the former. I understand having an adverse reaction to it. For example: Some of the other remarks he's apparently made on reddit are very alarming, completely unreasonable, and definitely make me think less of him. I only know he said those things because some people have decided to trawl through his post history, looking for juicy comments to take incendiary screenshots of. These objectionable statements would otherwise have been confined to the tiny audience of the threads they were made in, some of them several years old. These statements are offensive, but they really don't seem like they need to be my business. He is not in a position of significant power or influence. There is no suggestion that he's caused any harm in any way. No vulnerable people are affected by his statements, however disagreeable they are. No public service is being performed by digging this stuff up and sharing it with a new audience.
If the game is even a 1/3rd as successful as skyrim it'll be a huge hit. People dont realize how big Bethesda can be, the only people I've seen hate on this game are the ones trying to figure out how to mate with their ps5s, everyone else i've seen talk about it is excited to try it at some point.
He played the game, he's winning. Life needs winners and losers, that's just how it is.
Change a few words, this sounds like an incel manifesto. You do realize that to most left leaning voters, shit like this sounds insane, right?
Plenty of countries around the world don't share our values. Is it fair for us to blame, say, a Middle Eastern or Eastern European citizen for having regressive views when their whole society has those views and pushes for them? Is it fair to blame a Chinese citizen for believing the CCP? We know our values are superior to theirs but so did the missionaries that went into "uncivilized" places. I know this is a very cismale white take but we're not going to stop the systemic bigotry in those countries by yelling at individuals who just grew up in their value systems. It feels like we're mostly just sending the message that people from less progressive countries should just not talk freely on the internet since we'll jump on open statements but we won't go like "90% of that country is homophobic, we should assume someone from there is a homophobe until proven otherwise" so silence will always be in your favor. And since the people who actually talk without a PR agent filtering everything for them tend to be smaller people we're just beating down on regular folks, not the leaders who might actually get change done. The current event that brought this to mind was a Factorio dev (Czech) saying "fuck cancel culture" when pointed at the awful personal views of Uncle Bob (who's very much still an authority in software development despite being a shit person) but there have been other cases of devs from regressive countries speaking out with a matching regressive view and getting dogpiled for it in the past.
I've never been gaming on a PC really. Some Starcraft and CS way back. And looking at it now, the "community" is way too toxic for my liking.
Game Pass is not a generations lesson that they’ve learned… it’s a current issue that could affect their sales… and, tbh, they’re failing miserably. Instead of finding a way to offer something similar, they’ve increased their pricing. R&C is an awesome game, but it’s not worth $70 (already finished it).
Xbox’s big bets are finally paying off
Excuse me if I ignore your hate-boner for AZ, you're not exactly objective on the topic given your long history of crusading posts against them.
My only advice is to not ask a video game forum what they think. Unsurprisingly whenever this comes up these threads are full of people “””debunking””” diamond rings. Wow!!! Diamonds are expensive!!! And they don’t even do anything cool like my gaming PC!!!! Thanks YouTube man, now I know my wife is just a dumb bitch!!! Some people like nice things and it’s not a character flaw for a woman to want a nice ring to mark a significant event in her life. I saved up and got my wife a beautiful lab grown diamond engagement ring, it was a good chunk of change. I don’t regret it. She adores the ring. It makes her happy. Making my wife happy is not a waste of money. She deserves nice things too because I love her. It’s not lost on me how sexist it is to depict women who like nice jewelry and diamond engagement rings as being shallow and stupid. Yet it’s perfectly acceptable for men on this forum to spend thousands of dollar on video games and computer parts. I guess only men need nice things? This shit right here Gee, I guess my wife doesn’t actually love me since she wouldn’t accept a ring pop to mark the minor event know as “our marriage”. Fuck off. Thinking it’s some kind of “red flag” that a woman would want a nice ring is some incel shit. Please don’t speculate on people’s marriage or how much their partner loves them based off wanting a ring, asshole. Look, no one should spend beyond their means, and it’s fine that a lot of people apparently don’t believe in buying an expensive ring for their future spouse. But you don’t need to demean the people that do and act like their relationships are somehow flawed because they got a nice ring. It’s insulting.
"EA is Evil," Says Increasingly Derivative Content Creator for Seventh Time This Year
I’m bored at work and find this type of stuff fascinating
I’m kind of sad this was leaked and not announced out of the blue. I wanted to see the Era meltdowns for the latter
Nah. The Epic hatred started off with a bunch of racist paranoia about the Chinese and Tencent supposedly stealing your Steam data.
Fun game still
Yup. Shit was way different back then. Move on
Honestly MJF might be a worse human being than Velveteen Dream, but hides it under a "I am just an old school heel"
I don't think it's fair to call results derived from factual analysis without bias or contradiction a conspiracy. Obviously if you read the reviews it would explain why said games were given the scores they were given, that goes without saying, but that doesn't take away from the fact that with all first party reviews in that period of time assessed, Edge on average fairly closely matched the international aggregate and consensus with only Nintendo games, but not with other platforms or with multi-platform games. The only conclusion to draw from that is that Edge editors do indeed tend to have a preference for Nintendo games, and are conversely on average harsher with other platforms (notably Sony ones which see the largest deviation from aggregate scoring on average), and there's nothing inherently wrong with that either (though it is surprising to see such a leaning site wide). There's no other explanation really (beyond semantics in arguing all other journalists around the world rate Microsoft and Sony games too highly), since the volume of first party titles in that statistical analysis exceeds a number that is realistically within margins for error or coincidence, and we do know that different platforms do sometimes tend to specialise or focus on different styles of games. On your point about creativity and innovation, well that's largely subjective isn't it. Outside of a few rare examples (eg BotW) I actually personally find many Nintendo games/sequels to still be mostly iterative in nature, with similar degrees of familiarity and franchise repetition as many other sequels etc, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, or something to necessarily penalise either, as subjectively speaking I usually preference excellent execution over innovation. Again, perception of iterative changes in different sequels is going to be subjective, eg to some the added rift/dimension swap, puzzle, traversal, set piece, DualSense feedback and mobility changes in Rift Apart will seem like tangible new additions that keep things feeling fresh, engaging and fun, iterating enough within the scope of sequels, whilst to others they may not be as noteworthy or stand out. As I've never played other game with as comprehensive dimension or world swapping as Rift Apart (I don't think there is another?), coupled with the other aforementioned changes and incredible DualSense feedback, to me these changes feel Innovative and noteworthy, quite ground breaking too. Quite literally not even possible on past-gen hardware according to the devs. I do agree that they don't lean into these things too heavily, but I imagine that's largely due to time and budget constraints than anything else (having constant world/dimension shifts would no doubt be hella expensive and complex). For me they implement them enough to keep things exciting and feeling like an important or integral facet of the game, instead of feeling like a novelty.
love him or hate him he's a sportsperson that is one of if not the best of his time. Noone will care in 20 years that he was a no-vaxer and a tool, they will still respect his game. I hate Schumacher with a passion because he was a complete asshole on and off track and rules had to be implemented just to punish his behaviour (and then he was still an asshole in the last round against Villeneuve), because he never bothered to learn Italian while being in Italian teams (whereas fellow drivers learned it even if just briefly joining Italian-staffed teams) and because I never really liked his public persona. Is he still one of the best F1 drivers ever? Yes he is. Are people fucking retarded for being happy he had his skiing accident that left him in a vegetative state no matter how much they dislike him? Also yes. Similar things can be said for Tiger Woods and other GOATs Djoko is probably a shitty human being (and that was evident even before the pandemic iirc), still doesn't make him less of a GOAT. Butthurt children can feel free to disagree
So some people in this thread are advocating for segregated holidays now?
I think the beauty of videogames is getting to play as a host of different characters. I don’t know why anyone would want to limit that.
Women are a minority?
About last night's announcements, it's a shame Ska Studios has not come back to Xbox. It doesn't affect as I can play their games on Steam, but I played most of their releases on Xbox 360, Salt and Sacrifice is still sharing that distinct artstyle of The Dishwasher and Charlie Murder, playing them on Xbox again would just feel right. Maybe it's silly of me, but that's how I feel. This song was great: Man, Microsoft was so ahead of Nintendo, Sony and even Steam back in the early XBLA/XNA/Community Games days, it's a shame they went full retard around the XB1 launch and lost developers like Ska in the process.
Some key people at Ziff Davis and J2 Global are Jewish, good chance they won't be pro Palestine.
You do not need to agree with someones politics to find something interesting. I personally think Joe Rogan has crazy opions, but does not stop me finding some of his shows interesting. Not sure what being white dudes has to do with it. It has been good to see over the last few years and particularly in recent weeks that our Scottish government has come out so strong in support of Palestine. Anyone who is downplaying genocide needs to be called out. Do you not think calling the podcast alt right a bit ridiculous? On the times I have listened it has been 100% gaming.
Is it bad that I don't care? It's his business.
Ehhh, definitely looks very last gen. Doesn’t wow like other next gen exclusives like Demon’s, Ratchet, and even Returnal. being open-worldish and being held back by Xbox One probably doesn’t help.
Can somebody do this list but with ps studios? I think the difference is huge in terms of quantity isn't it?
Nooo! I don't want first manly main character (not gay ass) in FF die so soon...
Something something Elden Ring defines my existence and how is it not at 100mil views blah blah
Seee.
Let him do what he wants to do with his money.
You're not talking about this anko are you? . She was around a few more times... <.<
I'm fully aware this post will most likely end up in me being banned, which I think is a real shame, and a real part of the problem that exists in this forum. Still, I think it's important it's said, and the chips will fall where they will. I hope it'll at least be read before it's summarily dismissed, if nothing else. I'd like to start by saying that I am a straight white man, and that I 100 percent accept and appreciate everybody's right to live life as they see fit. Yes, both those things can be true. As long as they are not harming me or people I care about, I fully support people's journey to whatever makes them happy. I believe in inclusivity and that we should all be able to live together peacefully. I also believe in open dialog and that people's opinions matter, even when I don't share them. It's what our country was founded on, and I believe it's the only way forward towards co-existence with those we might not agree with. If ever there was a time people needed to come together, with our country so divided, it's now. With that said, from what i've seen, the trans community on THIS forum hasn't shown they believe the same thing. There is no open dialog. The minute somebody comes along that might have their own thoughts or opinions, they are instantly stifled because they don't identify as trans. Because they are not trans, they get no say, no opinion, no voice. I have literally seen countless times someone say "You're not trans, so you don't get to feel any way about this. Because you haven't been through what I've been through, you have no voice." All this when just attempting to discuss a goddamned video game. Imagine if all life functioned that way. Imagine if you weren't entitled to your voice or beliefs because you hadn't lived the life of the person you're trying to have open discourse with. That's not how life works, and it shouldn't be how life works. There will always be people in the world you don't agree with. There are evil people out there with evil thoughts who do evil things. Nothing can change that. You just have to keep on living your lives and try to focus on the ones that aren't that. It seems, though, that instead of embracing differences, you'd rather shun everyone else. Almost like a reverse prejudice against me because I am straight. I would never tell you that you couldn't have an opinion or belief because you may not be straight as well. Bringing this up though, around here that gets you called a victim. When CyberPunk came out, this place literally went to shit. People weren't allowed to be excited for a game they'd likely waited years to play. People weren't allowed to say anything positive about the game because doing so somehow alienated the trans community. As if someone's enjoy of something affects you in any way. Even if the developers were transphobic, it doesn't mean everyone that plays the game is. There are a lot of things I can't stand out there, but I can't stop others from enjoying them. The ultimate hypocrisy was when the people here leading the charge the hardest, specifically kyuuji, started playing and enjoying the game that so many other people were banned from even discussing. Why was that? Because they weren't trans, they don't get an opinion. I mean what kind of bullshit is that? How is that any way to run a community? I guess my whole point in this is to say that if the trans community as a whole want the respect they demand and I believe are entitled to, perhaps it's time to stop attacking everyone else who doesn't identify with them. Perhaps instead of pushing away other thoughts and beliefs, maybe it's time to open up paths to conversation, and from that conversation you can then decide if that is someone worth your time or not. Stifling every single person who might have their own thoughts is NOT the answer though. That's just not how the real world works. The world isn't going to treat you with kid gloves. Mods, I'm talking to you now. You're doing a disservice to these people, catering to their every whim. The world is tough, even for us straight white men. If I were raised by parents who never prepared me for the hardships life can throw at you, who knows where I would be. My hope moving forward is that maybe this place could actually become inclusive, and if you come across someone with differing opinions, USE that as an opportunity to edjucate, as oppose to alienate. You're not going to connect with everyone though, and banning them before even trying is not the way to go. I suppose that's all. This was kind of all over the place but was just what was on my mind as I was typing. I hope this sticks with at least some of you. Ps, not every person who voted for Trump is a Nazi, and not every person who voted for Trump is Transphobic. What kind of logic is that anyway?
Watch The Anytown Show
As an atheist this always seemed extremely stupid to me. They have religious claim on the land and they want the rest of the world to respect and accept that. But on that very same basis, Christian's antisemitism should also be respected because the Jews killed Christ. I mean it's all bullshit if you ask me. But if i were to accept what they are doing now because some "holy" book says so, then i should also stand and watch if another Hitler rises and decides that from a Christian point of view, Jews should be exterminated. Religion should not be taken into account and accepted on national and political matters at all. I dont give a fuck what your imaginary friend told you, move the fuck away from my land.
Sounds like a textbook sociopath if he willingly works 60+ hours a week. No wonder he likes beer.
