Thread Is Control's difficulty fucked or am I just a really poor player?
this is a really interesting thread, thanks to everyone who's contributing constructively to it! my advice to everyone who's having trouble with it is to pretty much echo what's been said in the thread already: 1) work on finding good mods to put on the service weapon, and upgrade your service weapon forms whenever you can 2) don't stop moving 3) shield, shield, shield. the shield seems pretty underutilized by a lot of players, and it's VERY useful against projectiles, enemies that throw themselves at you, and when you're feeling overwhelmed 4) evade! when you use evade, you are invulnerable.this is a good tip! the side bosses are optional content and you can always come back to them when you feel like you're more ready, which is usually late in the game when you have a lot of your abilities upgraded and you've found some good mods for the service weapon.

yeah, the map is like that by design, and the in-world signposting is like that by design, too. you're meant to rely on the in-world signposting and your own sense of direction rather than the map. personally I think I opened the map twice in the whole game. noooooooooooooooooo I love the threshold kids ahaha. I can see how they're creepy as hell - I remember watching the early edits of some of the videos with some people from the team and the uneasy laughter in the room :D topher is my favourite I thinknext week ;)

thanks to everyone who's taking the time to leave their feedback and impressions here!from my perspective, a motion blur toggle is about accessibility. turning motion blur off is the only way I can play the game for longer than about 90 minutes at a time. I suffer from motion sickness to varying degrees - it really depends on the game. with control it's not too bad. (I don't have it as bad as others, I have first person games I can play without a problem, like destiny, but then I also have certain titles that are - wait for it - literally unplayable to me without switching to third person if the option is there, and even then it's hard.) if a third-person game has motion blur, sure, it's a cool aesthetic choice and I appreciate it from that point of view, etc, etc, but I just can't play with it on because it makes me very sick after a while. I have to basically lie down in a dark room until it goes away. this is an accessibility issue for not just myself, but other players as well. and not just with control! with a majority of games that have motion blur baked in. ymmv, of course - I've spoken to people who feel queasy or just 'not right' when motion blur is turned OFF. that's why we put in a toggle, so you can decide if you need it on or off.

it should be on PC already, for Xbox I couldn't tell you an exact time except 'soon', but we'll let you know when it's livethat was never planned - in our community update two weeks ago we said we'd be working on improving map load times :D the map loads now, I've had a spin on ps4 pro and it seems good!

cruel but fair I guess you can actually upgrade launch to be able to launch enemies. try using it on enemies when their health is very low, sometimes something triggers..............you can kind of discourage them with the gun but you can't kill them

hey pal there's only two community managers in this thread. myself and . is the communications director at remedy, so much more than a community manager :D since you seem pretty up to date on hdr stuff and our game, I'm sure you've seen already! like I said at the very beginning of my comment - I am replying to everything that I can reply to, aka everything that I have an answer for. when it comes to hdr I can't give a straight answer yet, and that's why I've not replied. trust that nobody's ignoring you. we read everything, we see everything and take it back to the team and discuss it. just because we don't reply to everyone doesn't mean we don't see you. and thanks so much for being excited for the game, it honestly means a lot. I just ask for your patience, when we can talk about stuff like this, we will. we want to be as open with everyone as we can.

yooooooo thanks for an awesome thread! can't wait for everyone to have the game in their hands!AND annihilation / the southern reach trilogy by jeff vandermeer :D (one of my fav authors and my fav books too hehe)the PC has no native support for DS4 controllers but you can use a DS4 on your PC with some third party software. from my experience playing other titles I think the button prompts stay Xbox prompts but it's been ages since I played a game on PC with a controller, or at all

yeah there's no need to do that tbh - both death stranding and control are gonna be very weird games, but the people from kojipro are friends of the studio and we're all hyping each other up and pumped for each other's games :D honestly every time kojima tweets something nice about control or wears the control shirt we gave him, we get excited like it's the first time I personally think death stranding is going to be DOPE and I'm really excited to play it. it'll be interesting to compare its brand of weird to our own remedy brand of weird. but anyway let's get back on topicnah the game doesn't have different modes of difficulty to pick from. we're designing the game to be challenging, but obviously balancing is the trickiest thing to do right, so we're doing our absolute most to make it really really enjoyable and fun for people to play. all of us here play games, too, so!definitely not for launch ahaha! but she does have different outfits in the game! there's such a thing as being TOO navel gazey and self-referential sometimes but I'm honestly in love with the idea... I wanna see jesse wear alan's hideously bad early 00s fashion. the hoodie AND the suit AND the jacket WITH the elbow patches. that'd be classahh that's really great to hear, thanks so much for the support and kind words!! this one's definitely, DEFINITELY weirder than quantum break was :D

woo, dope thread OP, thanks :D we're all here reading all the previews just like you lot and very glad for all the positive coverage!haha well... gotta say it's very different than quantum break in terms of gameplay, story, abilities, how open the map is, how much you can play around in the space and experiment... it also doesn't have a TV tie in like quantum did. I get why you'd think that, though, the colour palette in some of the environments for example reminds me of quantum break! also both protags have a cool leather jacketthanks!! so far it's showing to be a good decision

the E3 demo build is very much old news haha it's been a while since then! the game looks even more crisp and crunchy now.my fav thing in the early prototype video is how she just like... holds her hands up doing the gun shooty movement but there's no gun in it. the floating gun was a bug that was happening for way longer than we wanted to LMAO what I like about this video is how you can see that everyone who was making the e3 demo really had a clear vision of what they wanted it to look like - we didn't end up making what I'd call huge changes, just polished things up a bit until we got it looking and playing the way we wantedyep it's 2019!! that's this year oh boy!!

ok let me explain :D 1) he sure did birth one out orally 2) kojima san came to see the control demo at e3 and ! we gave him a t-shirt, which he has been , a . so we wanted to show our appreciation for that, and for death stranding, which is a game we're all very excited about! so we had the idea to have sam orally give birth to a baby while wearing a death stranding t-shirt, and that's what happened. hope that clears it up :D

good! we showed a hands-off demo of control in the trade area, and the interest was overwhelming :D the demos were overbooked pretty much from the start of the event, we had a lot of requests to fit just one more person in (and just one more, and just one more...) and with some very expert schedule wrangling and help from the wonderful pr people at 505 games, we managed to have almost everyone who wanted to see the demo in the room. from everything I've gathered, the overall vibe and impressions from press and devs and fans were much like at e3 - overwhelming positivity and awe. which is very lovely to hear! probably the one outstanding moment to me was when a very nice fan came up to talk to me because I was wearing a control shirt and we had a chat about the game and how much he was looking forward to it. I did some on the spot community work - as much as I could, since I was also busy demoing and gamescom is HUGE - and the feedback on that has been great and also very positive, so I hope to have more time to do more stuff like that at any future events we take control to.

hahaha scp with guns! that made me laugh :D we can't not acknowledge scp when people bring it up, that's for sure - I can see how people make the connection, being a fan of scp myself! but the primary inspiration for our writing team is still new weird. I think it's very exciting, personally, because new weird isn't the kind of genre you see often in video games, and I'm really interested to see how players react to our take on it. oh MOOD, hahaha. but thanks for the kind words anyway!

Thread Remedy: Microsoft doesn’t want to make Quantum Break or Alan Wake sequels
hahaha we're saying what we've said previously, like people have pointed out in this thread: microsoft owns the quantum break IP, we own the alan wake IP. if the opportunity is right, we'd love to come back to alan wake at some point (it's very near and dear to all of us at the studio, as you can imagine!), but - we're working on control and crossfire right now. we do feel the alan wake love, though. we're very grateful for that. we hope people will be just as passionate about our future releases, too.
