ThreadWould You Be Ok With Hugh Jackman Returning As Wolverine in Deadpool 3?
Jackman was the perfect Wolverine, and while I'll never really say no to seeing more of him in the role, I feel like Logan was a perfect send-off and his character deserves that ending.
Even if this takes place prior to Logan, it'd still be more of Jackman as Wolverine, and Logan was a fitting end to him onscreen at all.

ThreadPokemon Sword and Shield are even worse in hindsight
As a longtime fan who dropped off after B&W and jumped back in with Sword & Shield, I have to say I enjoyed them well enough but was still left underwhelmed. I don't have any problems with the cut down Pokemon roster.
My issues were its incredibly easy difficulty (seriously I think I died once) including your 'rival' (who's actually your best bud), a main story that's just bad - Team Yell is a joke and posed no interesting challenge whatsoever, and visuals that while colorful and varied and did their job fine, could have been so much better. Pokemon has so much more potential.

I agree. I can not retroactively deny the quality of the work I enjoyed throughout a film, game or TV series even if the ending itself ends up bad. Yes it's a sour note to end on, but I'm not going to lie to myself and take back my feelings for what came before.

ThreadMass Effect Legendary Edition launches May 14 on PC (Origin/Steam), PS4 and Xbox One (with enhancements for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S)
It was mostly a response to fan outcry about the default Femshep in 1/2 being low quality compared to male Shep (Vanderloo's facescan), so they tried to do a more custom model and wanted to include players in the process.

I think MGSV has the best gameplay in the series, at least in terms of controls and fluidity but everything else was just empty. ThreadUbisoft Is Now Selling XP Boosters For AC: Valhalla
Yeah leveling up isn't grindy at all in Valhalla. The pacing is actually pretty good compared to Origins & Odyssey so...if someone just doesn't have as much time on their hands and wants to spend money, have at it I guess, no skin off my back.
Honestly it has never really bothered me.
Firstly I'm never in a rush when I'm playing so it's just not a big deal to me.
And usually stuff like that is going on when the situation is poignant or the game's trying to explain something important. I'd rather have that than running around all over the place while something serious is going on and I'm taken out of the moment lol.
ThreadWhy is Ori and the Will of the Wisps being overlooked in Nominations?
Honestly that does kind of feel cynical. The Game Awards, and subsequently a lot of the individual sites' nominees are the result of basically tallying up everyone's personal picks...
I would say there's just a preference towards good games. And many times that happens to be these big narrative driven action adventures or RPGs, because they resonate with a large audience. That's just the way things fall. I'm sure Ori was nominated by quite a number of the press but others won out because like I said, people get attached to those former experiences even more. And it's not always the case. Journey won in 2012, Overwatch in 2016, Breath of the Wild in 2017, Sekiro last year...
I'm sure plenty of them loved Ori but felt other games were just...even better.
And there's nothing wrong with that. In the end these picks are the personal preferences of each person. What's the solution? Tell some of them 'Sorry, some of you have got to pick Ori'? I don't know if that's the right way to go about it.

That's exactly what has happened, which was always inevitable. He knows he's done and has no pathway to retain his power. He knows all legal options are exhausted. He won't concede though, he was never going to in the first place. But transitioning doesn't require formal concession so he can whine all he wants.

My wife's an RN and she's a little hesitant on it because she says vaccines usually take years and years of research and clinical trials to study long term effects while this one's been developed in the span of, I don't know, 8 months or so? She feels like it's really being rushed. We're very much a pro-vax family so it's not like that, but anyone have some knowledge on that particular point I can share with her?
Yeah that's another part too, we discussed that, or at least to the extent of our own knowledge about vaccines. That they've always been DNA based or something and this one targets mRNA that puts it even more into uncharted territory and 'how did they do all this in the span of months?', etc.

ThreadNBC News: Biden hopes to avoid divisive investigations of Trump, "just wants to move on" and prefers unity; Plans to not interfere with the DOJ
Exactly. Biden's job now is to get the stink of Trump out of the White House and re-establish some basic fucking norms, namely, the DOJ isn't the president's personal fucking law firm. For Biden to say he wants to prosecute Trump and former officials, especially now when his cabinet has to be confirmed, is stupid. He'll let the next AG and DOJ do their jobs, and if they want to investigate, he won't stop them. Meanwhile this says nothing about various state charges that likely won't stop.

Trump lost decisively. It only feels like he didn't because these counts are taking so fucking long. Biden won back WI, MI and PA by bigger margins than Trump did four years ago. We flipped Arizona and Georgia, two red states that haven't gone to Dems in decades.

ThreadGlenn Greenwald Finally Goes Full Full Mask Off
If we want to cherry pick and focus on atrocities, yes every American presidency has its share. But to assign Trump just 'some tweets' or personality issues is a gross reduction of the democratic norms that have been shattered because of this man. The DOJ is basically his personal law firm, he denies science, literally cozies up to dictators around the world while actively fighting against our allies, undermined basic democratic processes here like elections, has genuinely embraced white supremacy out in the open and puts people's lives in danger through his words. For God's sake, we have businesses being boarded up and the White House converted into a fortress. We're genuinely on the cusp of sliding into an authoritarian regime.
It's completely asinine and incredibly irresponsible to compare this presidency in totality to what's come before in modern American history.

ThreadU.S. government concludes Iran was behind threatening emails sent to Democrats
Their economy and overall global freedom of movement really, was far better under Obama than it is today. There's no doubt Biden would try to renegotiate the nuclear deal. Trump's also cozied up and conceded to Israel way more than any previous admin. I still just can't see any scenario where they want this to continue.

It's not a 'take' lol...I'd like more options too, but realistically developers will still continue to push visual splendor and not everyone's going to offer options. The vast majority of launch games are cross gen. I think once we get into the full swing of next-gen games a couple years from now, you'll see a lot more 60 compared to current gen but 30's still going to be most common. And I'm fine with 30, you won't find doom and gloom from me.

ThreadJoe Biden's polling better than any challenger since 1936
I wouldn't be so sure. There are a lot of pissed off dems here, the amount of people that have come out to get the vote in already is insane compared to 2016. There are a lot of racist shitbags here but there are a lot of signs that a good chunk of seniors or moving towards Biden now.
ThreadJoe Biden's polling better than any challenger since 1936
You're underestimating the amount of damage COVID has done to Trump's campaign this year, especially among seniors here in Florida. Like you said, Biden is seen as a moderate to a lot of these people vs Gillum. And, well, he's white, and hell Trump only beat Clinton by like...1% here...and that's with Clinton being one of the most unpopular candidates in recent memory. That being said, it's also good to understand why and how this election is different than 2016, if anything just to set the record straight. It's been explained many times over, but CNN Political Analyst Harry Enten summarizes it all pretty well in the video below:
ThreadTo those getting both Next Gen consoles, have you decided which will be your Multi-platform machine?

ThreadThe Ritual is one of the best horror films in recent memory
Originally found this on a whim on Netflix and surprisingly left a very lasting impression. I've rewatched it three times now and this one really just came out of nowhere for me.
The acting's actually pretty good given the cast, at least they're not anyone I've seen before but more importantly the premise itself is creepy as fuck. The forest has an exceedingly evil presence, the buildup from first entering the forest to everything that happens to each character is intense, the cinematography is fantastic, and the creature design is incredibly unique and menacing.
It's still on Netflix now so highly recommend if you're looking for some real scares.

ThreadEurogamer.de: Assassin's Creed Valhalla will also be in 4K60FPS on PS5
Perhaps the PS5 and Series X versions aren't running at 'ultra' PC settings in order to hit 4K. The article seems to indicate Ubisoft clarifies it's actual 4K:.
"By which they mean true 4k resolution, as they stressed, which should be expected."
In any case, AC Origins and Odyssey are 2-3 years old now. Would make sense they probably optimized the engine since then?
ThreadXBOX Game Studios vs. PlayStation Studios - Whose output and potential output excites you more?
I'm anticipating Sony first party studio output more than anything this gen with stuff from Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica, Guerrilla, Insomniac, Sucker Punch, Japan Studio and Bend.
But that's not to say I'm not absolutely stoked for Xbox too. I adore The Elder Scrolls, Doom, Fallout, Gears, Halo and anything Arkane makes. Throw in Fable and Avowed...we've got a mighty fine stew going.
I'm picking up a PS5 and Series X anyway so I'm good either way.
ThreadWith these talks of acquisitions, is it possibly for a big Japanese Publisher(Square, Bamco, Capcom, Sega, etc) to be bought?
With this kind of logic they'd buy up every third party available. That's not how corporations look at mergers and acquisitions.
What would be worth a certain price tag to Sony or Amazon or Tencent or whoever might be different to the value Microsoft places on it.
A mix of 2 and 3.
I have a fairly capable rig (7700K, RTX 2070, 16GB RAM, SSDs) and I've played a decent amount on it, but after encountering issues with a game every so often like Control recently not loading textures properly, Greedfall hiccuping, and a few other games giving me problems embarking on a wild goose choose to track down answers, I just said screw it.
My time to play is limited as it is, I don't have the time or patience to look up if drivers are the issue or going into game files to check things or troubleshooting this and that. So I just stick to consoles. Put a game in, install, boom I'm playing. That and honestly consoles already put out some damn good looking stuff, especially with next gen coming up. I'm more than satisfied with the visuals I get.
I mostly stick to RTS games on my PC now.
Don't expect a same day announce and release. And yeah, EA has 100% not abandoned Mass Effect. I'm not trying to 'hype' anyone, just saying it plainly.
ThreadDo you think Microsoft has done enough so far to win back some of the Xbox 360 fans they lost this gen?
Not really.
I had both a 360 and PS3 last gen but would definitely say the 360 was my main console that time. It flipped pretty handily this gen, and while I'm still getting a Series X day one, with not even Halo at launch...the PS5 will likely get the bulk of my time again due to incredible first party output and exclusive deals.
ThreadTrump supporters come out and block early voting site in Virginia
Saw the other early voting Virginia thread and thought this deserved its own thread. Guess it was a matter of time. Trump's drones are coming out and actually blocking voting sites. To be clear:
Where are the cops? Who knows.
Just an exclusives machine for me. And that's being generous. Games rarely drop in price so I rarely get any. I've had mine since launch and still only have:
Breath of the Wild
Luigi's Mansion 3
Super Mario Odyssey
Pokemon Sword
Link's Awakening
Everything else is on other stuff. No real chance I'd get third parties on it that pale in comparison visually.
ThreadWhat is Destruction AllStars? We're supposed to pre-order this without any real understanding of the gameplay?
This is Lucid's game that we are supporting, so ultimately it's in theirs and Sony's hands. All I can say is there will be plenty of details coming between now and launch, don't worry.
I know launch is pretty dang soon, so just hold tight
ThreadIt's rather disappointing we still haven't seen true next gen graphics
Personally stuff like Ratchet & Clank & Demon's Souls look stunning to me, but fair play if they don't to others. Regardless, it usually takes a bit for stuff to have that wow factor. Compare The Last of Us: Part II or RDR2 to 2013 games. It's night and day. There's going to be stuff next generation that blow this gen away, slowly but surely.
Saw this gaining traction on my timeline. It's weird that this is considered the exception nowadays, but nice to see actual cohesive dialogue. Mark your calendars on October 7th.
I don't personally know why the release date wasn't included in the trailer. But I knew Demon's Souls was a launch title for a while now, it was always the case.
Isn't that just the tutorial area? I haven't played Demon's Souls myself but I did beat Bloodborne and played some of Dark Souls 3 and recall the first several enemies going down in one or two hits max in the opening areas. Unless I'm remembering them wrong.
ThreadJim Ryan: "The PS4 community will continue to be incredibly important to us for three or four years"
Are people taking the piss in here or what lol? Just like the PS2 and PS3 were supported for years post new gen launch, the same will happen with PS4.
He's not saying everything from Worldwide Studios will be cross gen for 3-4 years.
ThreadXbox Series X/S Pre-orders go live on 9/22, at least at Gamestop - Up to $200 for trade-ins towards preorder
You can take measures against that. I never allow anyone with 0 feedback to bid on my items. You can also check options that only members with registered US addresses can bid, etc to minimize the chances of trouble. I've gotten scammers before but that's before I started doing all of that. Its served me well since.
ThreadThe Xbox Series X releases in two months, and we have yet to see any new games running on the actual console
I'm not sure I'd put them in the same ballpark to be honest. Sony's shown Ratchet & Clank in depth, the Gran Turismo 7 video was straight up gameplay, and all the in-engine and in-game trailers (which included gameplay sequences) at the June showcase were all captured on a PS5 except for GTAV, including third party stuff. Even the COD footage we've been seeing is all PS5.
I'm not trying to come off like a fanboy because I'm definitely not lol, but just making an observation.
ThreadHave any of y’all gone to the dentist since the pandemic began?
Nope. My last cleaning was just before March too but I'm not going back until things have really settled down and actual vaccines are available. Just keeping my teeth as clean as possible, thankfully don't have any issues that need taking care of.
ThreadLet's make this clear: Do Switch owners buy third party games?
I only buy Switch exclusives on my Switch.
I play on my TV 99% of the time so there's no way I'm buying third party games on Switch over Xbox/Playstation.
ThreadIran weighs plot to kill U.S. ambassador to South Africa
I have no doubt they'll target someone close to Trump, if not Trump himself. Soleimani was revered by a lot of Iranians and especially the government. They took that shit personally.
ThreadCNN: We need to prepare for this 'deeply worrying' scenario on Election Night
Have you seen the kind of shit he's pulled these past 4 years? He practically owns the DOJ. He's ripping apart the post office. States can count everything and declare the real winner but he's in his own reality. That shit doesn't matter to him, he'll just call it rigged.
And once that happens, you know he'll tell his cretins to take to the streets. It's so obvious you can see it a mile away.
ThreadCNN: We need to prepare for this 'deeply worrying' scenario on Election Night
I don't see how it's "fear mongering", that just sounds like a convenient way to dismiss a very plausible scenario. Trump consistently tries to sow doubt in the confidence of our elections
I have no doubt he's going to pull some fuckery when it counts start showing him losing and telling his supporters to take to the streets and shit. Come on.The scenario is extremely plausible. Unless you think election night will go down without a hitch and Trump will go quietly into the night.
ThreadTell Me Why is one of the graphical 'cleanest' games i played
Yeah, it's a combination of great art direction, environment design (a bit more simplistic with less post-processing) and a full 4K image. Looks really nice on my TV.
ThreadCNN: School closings linked to increase in depression and suicide (China) , study finds
I can imagine. We've been homeschooling our son since the outbreak spread here in Florida in March and it's like pulling teeth. He's absolutely miserable and dreads anything to do with school now.
Granted he's only in first grade but I'm sure older students might have it even worse.
ThreadXbox Series S Won’t Apply Xbox One X BC Enhancements, Microsoft Confirms
I think some people might have assumed since the Series S is more powerful than an X1X, it'll run and display games equal to or better than the X1X. It's targeting 1440p for next-gen games but older XB1 games that run at 4K on the X1X could do the same on the Series S given its hardware, but I imagine the RAM is probably the likely culprit there.
ThreadDr. Fauci: May be at least a year before life in the US returns to pre Covid-19 normal
Lol, it's going to be a little while but no, it won't be like this forever. You think a decade from now absolutely nothing will have changed? People will get vaccinated and vaccines will adapt and improve and scientists will continue to learn and have a better understanding of it.
ThreadWoodward book: Trump says he knew coronavirus was ‘deadly’ and worse than the flu while intentionally misleading public (Trump to speak at 2 pm EST)
We don't know what sort of agreements or contracts were made to when these interviews could be made public. Kind of feels like people are jumping to conclusions that they were held back intentionally.
It's a catastrophe on the administration's part and a stain on the country that we've lost so many now. At the same time this sort of information wouldn't have moved the needle or had as much of an effect if it was released months ago. We some 50 odd days away from the election where the public is hyper aware and attuned to news. This is when this shit hurts. I'm saddened for how many we've lost and yet acknowledge this will stick stronger at this point in time. Whatever it takes to get this motherfucker out before he destroys us all.
ThreadI think that this coming gen is gonna be the last gen with physical games on Xbox and PlayStation
I don't have any crystal ball but I wouldn't think so. Physical retail is still a hefty chunk of sales and I'm not sure the internet infrastructure in a lot of nations is ready for huge digital downloads, even next gen.
ThreadWoodward book: Trump says he knew coronavirus was ‘deadly’ and worse than the flu while intentionally misleading public (Trump to speak at 2 pm EST)
Biden is going to be all over this.
Easy fucking ammo.
ThreadWhat do you expect from Cyberpunk 2077's gunplay?
I don't think it'll handle as buttery smooth as something like COD or Titanfall or anything, it's such a massive game with so many intertwining systems that focus probably went to a lot of other things.
At the same time it's been in development for a long time and I think they've learned a lot from other shooters on the market and upped their combat game since TW3. I think it'll be fun to play and probably won't get boring.
ThreadWhat is the best launch line up a console has ever had?
Probably the 360, for me at least.
Kameo: Elements of Power
Perfect Dark Zero
Condemned: Criminal Origins
NFS: Most Wanted
Call of Duty 2
Quake 4
Project Gotham Racing 3
Damn good gaming right there. I was in HD heaven. Heck even that King Kong game was pretty damn cool.
