To add to the mystery, according to the box arts on the Koch Media (the game's distributor) store listings, the PS4 version is published by Ravenscourt while the Switch version if published by Planet Entertainment (both are listed as Ravenscourt, however): Both release dates are listed as May 12 now. Amazon Germany also has these same listings / box art / release date: GameStop Italy says it's coming out on April 7 for Switch and April 28 for PS4: EBGames Canada says the Switch version released on March 31, but does not list the PS4 verison: Amazon US apparently has the Switch version in stock right now, no listing for PS4 version: It's all just very strange. I've tried contacting Planet Entertainment several times and they've all been ignored. I'm going to try reaching out to Ravenscourt.

Thread MS and Sony update/clarify BC status for next-gen consoles
If PS5 naturally runs PS4 games, and said games run without the need for any edits---in other words, I pop in the disc and the game runs---then why would it need publisher approval? Publishers would only need to get involved if it's to tweak problematic titles via patches. Re: P.T. - Are you really asking if a PS4 title that is no longer accessible on PS4 will be supported on PS5? Now if it was a question of whether P.T. would theoretically run on PS5, then the answer is yes, because it's a PS4 game and PS5 naturally runs PS4 games. But you know, you'd need to actually be able to get it onto the system to run it / find out if it runs without acting wonky.

Thread Is there any hope for PS1/PS2 backwards compatibility for PS5? Maybe even PS3?
So there's hope! The way I'm rationalizing it is this: - "Road to PS5" was a developer-focused GDC talk. - There was talk about PS4 BC because developers are still making PS4 games. - Developers would have no need to know about PS3/2/1 BC. - It's a big feature to support PS3/2/1. They'd want to make a big impact by revealing it at a formal event. Join me in keeping the dream alive! (And in the disappointment that will follow!)

Thread MS and Sony update/clarify BC status for next-gen consoles
There's nothing to suggest only 100 titles will be playable at launch, especially after the clarification. The top 100 statement was an example. "We tested the top 100 games, and while the majority worked fine, a few had issues, so there may be some titles within the overall PS4 library that need tweaking to run properly. We're currently testing PS4's library to find out which games have issues."

Thread MS and Sony update/clarify BC status for next-gen consoles
tl;dr - Majority of PS4 games will be playable on PS5, some might just need adjustments.Backward compatibility on Xbox One needed publisher confirmation because it involves taking the original game files and repackaging it into an Xbox One executable. That's why discs are just validation and the actual game is downloaded. This is incorrect.

Thread MS and Sony update/clarify BC status for next-gen consoles
PS5 naturally runs PS4 titles (see Mark Cerny's quote below). The only games that would need publisher involvement are the minority of titles that have issues and need to be modified to run properly. That much is even said in the blog post update --- "We’re currently evaluating games on a title-by-title basis to spot any issues that need adjustment from the original software developers."

Thread PlayStation 4 Backwards Compatability for PS5 won't be 100% at launch, PS5 too fast for some titles, tweaks and testing on game-by-game basis
Sent an email early yesterday, no response yet. Anyway, I'm keeping the stupid dream for PS1, PS2, and PS3 backward compatibility alive. This week's event was developer-focused, and even the PS4 backward compatibility talk was aimed at developers, considering PS4 games are still in development. There would've been no reason to mention PS1, PS2, and PS3 backward compatibility if it exists. I'm hoping they're saving it for a "by the way" moment of whenever they decide to actually reveal this machine.

Thread PlayStation Worldwide Studios |OT Se7en| What's in the box?
As I've said a bunch of times in various parts of the internet, what Cerny said, at least how I and many others heard it, is basically, 'PS5 supports PS4 games, we tried out the top 100 to see how they would work, and from that pool most of them played fine but some had issues, so there may be some titles [within the whole PS4 library] that need tweaking on a game-by-game basis to run properly.' The whole bit about running at "boosted frequencies" I don't believe was in reference to a specific mode. I think that's just how PS5 will run PS4 games in general.

Thread Is Sega teasing Virtua Fighter 6 for their 60th anniversary? Or something else?
I think this one might be it. The belt is embroidered with せがれ (segare) which incidentally means "one's son." I don't know anything about judo, but apparently it's common to get your name embroidered on the belt according to a Google search I did two minutes ago. So this could be Segare Sanshiro we're looking at. Also guys, the URL is "segashiro," so it's definitely Sanshiro-related.

Thread For multi-platform players, will you switch to building your library on other platforms after learning how PS5 backward compatibility will work?
I still have a feeling this is inaccurate. The PlayStation Blog summary does not reflect what Cerny said:Sounds like he was just saying that, in their testing of PS4 games on PS5, they decided to try out the top 100 to see how they would go, and since a few had issues, there may have to be some tweaking on a title-by-title basis.

Thread Is the full Backwards Compatibility dream from this gen to next dead for both Xbox and PlayStation?
What Mark Cerny said during the actual presentation was different from what the PlayStation Blog wrote:To me that reads as: most titles will be playable, but there may be some that need tweaking to work properly. Anyway, still holding out hope for legacy BC even though it's a stupid dream. If it exists there'd have been no need to mention it yesterday as all talk was developer-focused.

I mean yeah, I never questioned that?I think so as well, but I can't say that definitely without confirmation.Fair question. The difference is largely SKU-based, I guess. Option one would mean I could go to the store and pick up a physical Xbox One copy of the game or a physical Xbox Series X copy of the game, the other would mean I could only go to the store and pick up an Xbox One copy of the game (which, of course, plays on Xbox Series X).

As someone who put over 100 hours into the game on PS4, and also bought the Switch version (which I probably won't play for a while because, again, 100 hours), I am also peeved they didn't release the new content on PS4 and PC.I'm sure Nintendo has some level of involvement here, but I don't think that's the case. Takashi Mochizuki, who worked for The Wall Street Journal at the time, asked Square Enix if it plans to add the new elements of the Switch version of Dragon Quest XI to the vanilla version via an update or downloadable content, to which the company said that it was “undecided.” If it wasn't possible, they'd more likely say there were no plans. My final thought on it is, if it's happening, it'll be in September this year. Similar to how Octopath Traveler came to PC a year later.

Nice! Godfall is Holiday 2020 though, since it's PS5 launch. You have it listed as Q1. Also if you're organizing by date, you may want to throw Granblue Fantasy: Versus after P5R since that's the end of Q1. It'll very most likely be out internationally February 6 though, day and date with Japan, so if you wanna set it as that instead no one will blame you. Also if we're really doing this in terms of exclusives, you can also add: - Azur Lane: Crosswave (also on PC) - February 2020 - No Straight Roads (also on PC) - 2020 - Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV (also on PC) - February 28 - Ys: Memories of Celceta (also on PC, PS Vita) - 2020 Other games not yet dated (if you wanted a separate section for that) - Akiba's Trip: Hellbound & Debriefed (also on PC) - Granblue Fantasy: Relink - Lost Soul Aside - Onechanbara Origin - western release not yet announced, but an English trophy list is up, so it's very likely happening this year - Project Awakening - Uppers (also on PC)

By process of elimination, if it's not Spike Chunsoft's game (which it's likely not, given the Izanagi tweets and trademarks) or the anime (which it's likely not, again given the Izanagi stuff), then it would have to be this---IF it's one of their four previously teased projects. Or what they could do is do what they did in the PS2 / PS3 / PS Vita days and actually work with external Japanese developers. Work with Cattle Call for a new Arc the Lad. Work with Media Vision for a new Wild Arms. Work with Cygames or Level-5 for a large-scale RPG. (I'm aware Cygames is already working on three PS4-exclusive titles, but I'm referring to a first-party collaboration title.) Work with Acquire / Crispy's for something unique like Rain or Tokyo Jungle. Work with Millennium Kitchen for a new Boku no Natsuyasumi. (pls Attack of the Friday Monsters from Level-5 was not enough for me) Work with Platinum Games for a AAA budget action RPG. Work with Alfa System for a new Oreshika. Work with Marvelous for something new. Just give everyone money to make new things. =) To be fair, they worked with some Japanese developers on PS4 games, but significantly less than they did in the past. PSN nets them a lot of money and I enjoy most things I play, so I'd be happy to see them use some of that money to bring back those frequent AA-budget first-party productions.

Wasn't there something fishy with that press release containing the Q&A regarding exclusivity / coming to PC? I feel like I remember it being fake or something? Can someone else chime in here? I don't doubt the possibility of Death Stranding coming to PC, especially with the PS4 package itself not containing the "Only on PlayStation" banner and it being a first-party title. But I don't think this list is a proper way to judge that, especially with (as others have pointed out) titles like Tetris Effect and Salaryman also sitting there. Last generation I would've told you any SIE-owned and published title wouldn't be available anywhere other than PlayStation, but the landscape has obviously changed with the release of thatgamecompany and Quantic Dream's titles on PC (and a few others). Though the unique case with Death Stranding that still leaves me questioning the possibility is its use of the Decima Engine.

Thread Hitman 3 is officially under developement alongside a new IP at IO Interactive
Ah, OK. "We released Hitman 2 back when went independent and on cash flow, it was so far away but getting there was an amazing feeling, and Hitman is a trilogy, there's a bright future, there's this fully realization of the whole World of Assassination that we are looking towards as well of doing that the journey since 2013 to complete that and overarching spy story to complete that. And the World of Assassination, when that's complete, it's gonna be one game with all the locations starting from Paris in Hitman 1 to the last location in Hitman 3, where it's 20-plus locations. So the ultimate globetrotting experience that we wanted to achieve." - IO Interactive CEO and co-owner Hakan Abrak I still don't think this quote says anything other than that it's planned though. Hitman 3 could very well already be in development, but I don't necessarily see that confirmed here. It could be something they plan on starting after this new IP, for example.

I don't think this necessarily confirms a Hitman 3 is in development quite yet - more so that IO is at the very least expecting they'll make it. Here's the quote from the video: "Earlier this year IO Interactive opened up a new studio across the bridge in Malmo, Sweden. And while much of the team is working on new Hitman content, and looking ahead to the third Hitman game, one that Hakan says may once-again go episodic, the majority of the studio at least here in Copenhagen is working on something secret, and rather excitingly, something new."

Actual showing of New Sakura Wars. Jet Set Radio 3. Jet Set Radio was the second most wanted series revival following New Sakura Wars in the poll they had last year. Maybe showing of the New Yakuza with Ichiban Kasuga, but that's probably being saved for Sony's pre-TGS event. Persona 5 R will be there in some form I think, but it will probably first be shown after the anime special on March 23. A Skies of Arcadia remaster would be nice, never got around to playing it.

They're not going to announce *new* games like that, just localizations. Or at least I don't believe that's happened before. Anyway, my personal predictions:Surprise title guess: Disaster Report 4 Plus: Summer Memories (PS4) from Granzella. Nippon Ichi Software also has two games called Murder Detective: Jack the Ripper (adventure game) and To All of Mankind (survival game) coming out in Japan, but I'd wager those two are too newly announced for localization announcements.

I already reached out to IFI about this and am waiting to hear back. One thing that might be worth noting is that this is the only Death end re;Quest listed by Reef Entertainment (IFI's distributor in Europe). Super Neptunia RPG, for example, has listings for and by Reef Entertainment, but Death end re;Quest only has this Switch listing from them. There is a , but that one is unavailable to pre-order and is thus probably outdated since Reef Entertainment is handling distribution. That being said, my guess is that this was supposed to be listed for PS4. The PS4 version was already dated for February 22 in Europe, which is the same date on the listing. If there is a Switch version, it likely wouldn't be announced / released this quickly.

While it's possible they are currently developing a Switch title, it should be noted that their profile page (where they list the games they've worked on) hasn't been updated in a while. It lists The Alliance Alive (3DS, 2017) as their newest title, even though they worked on Metal Max Xeno (PS4/PSV, 2018), which isn't listed at all. That being said, it's possible they have already worked on a Switch title, perhaps through cooperation with another developer. They don't specifically say they're working on a new Switch title right now or anything, Switch is just listed under the 'what we've developed for' section. So judging by the past, they'll probably be doing something with this. Not sure why. I never actually played the game, but yeah going by this thread the general impression is that it's bad. Hopefully if they're remastering it, they're actually going into and fixing it. Edit: Small mistake. Koei Tecmo trademarked "Eat! Fat! I think the statute of limitations has run out, so I can say a little bit about it. Immediately after the release of Baten Kaitos II, Namco (now Bandai Namco) worked on a sequel up until the pre-production phase, but just before Baten Kaitos III could become a reality, the story ended due to the circumstances of the involved parties. "If we made it, it would have been grand-scale game with settings at the bottom of the sea, on land, and in the sky. There's a large amount of concept art for the sequel sealed away at Bandai Namco. Everything continues normally without skips for the Sega games section from there. Given that their main showcase titles seem to be up top, there seems to be one more main showcase title for Sega Games to announce. The next two sections are Sega Interactive, directly followed by Atlus. There is currently one title in both sections. Border Break (Sega Interactive): Persona Q2 (Atlus): Notice the missing #16 there. So there is either one more Sega Interactive or one more Atlus title to announce for the lineup. All the partner titles continue the number sequence normally without skips. Conclusion: there seems to be two titles Sega has yet to tell us about: one under Sega Games and the other under either Sega Interactive or Atlus title. Putting my investigator-looking Shiba Inu avatar to good use. Also, I've tried messing around with the image links. Like and a bunch of other things with no luck, but feel free to mess around. Thread SNK to announce new games on Sept. 10; "A New Dawn Rises"
New game* not games Despite the tweet, the website, which was previously titled "New Game Announcements," was re-titled "New Game Announcement." It should be noted that the countdown ends 30 minutes into Sony's hour-long pre-Tokyo Game Show 2018 presentation.

Thread Who is excited for TGS 2018? Also, your hopes and dreams.
I love all the Granblue Fantasy Project Re: Link hype, but we're not seeing it till Granblue Fes. During the Granblue Summer Fes 2018 in Osaka, Cygames had a slide dedicated to Re: Link which said it will share new information at Granblue Fes on December 15 / 16. Hopefully something comes out of all these recent job listings though:

It's weird that they mention at the end that they're the official TV of the Call of Duty World League, yet they couldn't use Call of Duty in the commercial.

Thread SIEJA PlayStation LineUp Tour video live show set for September 10
I mean it's just speculation on my part, but it doesn't make sense to me why they'd hold a video show that day, followed by video show a few days later. So my only conclusion is that this is probably the TGS conference.

Thread What's the rarest or most expensive game you own?
I'm not sure. I have Pokemon Yellow sealed and Final Fantasy IX (original label) sealed. Probably those? I also have some other sealed stuff, like the original Final Fantasy XIV PC release collector's edition, a bunch of Digimon PS1 games, etc.

Thread Japanese Nintendo: A new JoJo game is in development, will be announced soon
Just to clarify what this is: a site that posts early magazine leaks made a post with the title "New JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Game in Development." This leak is coming out of this month's V-Jump. The site's post doesn't include any actual information quite yet - it tends to be updated with details a little while after the initial posting. But another thing this site tends to do is withhold platform information, if any is available, until that later update. Like when that Shin Megami Tensei smartphone game was announced, their title was basically "New Shin Megami Tensei Game Announced" or whatever until they finally updated it and revealed it's for smartphones. So remain cautious until more info is out.

Thread God Eater 3 is being made by Marvelous’ First Studio
We don't actually know how much of the Soul Sacrifice staff is making the game. We only know that the development director of that is the development director of this. Edit: First Studio is a bit of a conundrum because I haven't been able to find anything about when they were first established / if they're a new team within Marvelous. Their logo only started popping up with the Fate/Extella Link trailer that released in February.
