Thread Going from Android to iOS may be the best tech purchase I have ever made
Yep, me too. And I've been a software developer for 10+ years. A bit anecdotal, but my girlfriend had Android phones for the first few years we were together. She is NOT a tech person and was always asking me how to do things on her phone (which is where my Android interaction comes from). I always had a hard time figuring it out as well. Truly frustrating. Finally, one Christmas I just got her an iPhone. The questions immediately stopped. She's had an iPhone for years now and she never asks me questions about using it. And she's still not a tech person.

I'm really wondering if the tensor cores are going to be in the dock. I have to say, I'll be disappointed if the cost of adding tensor cores to the system means that the rest of the tech (CPU, GPU, Memory, etc...) do not see a bump.

Yeah, that’s what I thought too. I guess the issue is supposed to be that the son used a credit card in her name? I assume for business purposes... I don’t know. Assuming he/they were obtaining the shoes he was reselling legally then I don’t see it as much of a story.

Thread Recommended 4k monitors for PS5/XBSX?
Yep, I have the 27UL600. Very similar specs to this and I would say the UL600 is solid as well. One thing to note about these models is that they are VESA certified for 400nits which I think is relatively bright as far as HDR monitor go (based on what is available). It took me a bit to get the settings dialed in on mine, but once I did I was relatively happy with the HDR picture. I say relatively as I own a CX, so it obviously doesn't compare to that.

Thread The Division 2 “next gen upgrade” coming Feb. 2nd; 4K, 60 FPS
If you have access to Battlefield 1 it has an HDR adjustment tool (0-10000) and image that is very easy to use. Once you lock in the right number using it you can apply that to every game that asks for hdr setting from 0-10000 (luminance, I think?) on that tv. It's possible it may vary depending on the tv settings, but I've found the number is the same on both Series X and PS5 when using the same tv settings, which makes sense as this is about the max luminance of the display and setting the clipping point.

Thread For those that grew up in the Turtlemania craze, what to you think of the infamous first NES game?
I owned it and never beat it. I was actually pretty indifferent towards it. I didn't love it and I didn't hate it. I don't think it helped that this was out at basically the same time as the arcade game. I think my attitude towards it was mostly "It's ok, but I wish I could play the TMNT arcade game at home."

My family was WAY out of their element, so I basically always got whatever games I asked for at Christmas and birthdays. However, one Christmas I had asked my sister and her husband for Diddy Kong Racing and I ended up getting Extreme-G Racing instead. I was pretty bummed out, but tried not to let it show. Extreme-G Racing was decent, actually. Not great, but OK. The worst part is that I've never played Diddy Kong Racing to this day.

Thread Man OLED TV's are amazing.
I'm fully expecting to end up with burn-in on my CX. We both work from home and it's on for 12-14 hours a day during the work week. My girlfriend has her routine of channels that she has on in the background during the work day. Its not the same channel all day, but each channel is on in blocks. No news channels with constant tickers at least. The thing is she could not have cared less if we got the TV, so if I turnaround and tell her we spent all that money on a new TV and now she can't use it how she wants to she will probably not be happy. In fairness, she would turn it off throughout the day if I explained it all to her, but she'd still be like "WFT?" I'm not too worried about it and am just kind of hoping for the best. The TV is amazing and I'll have zero regrets if permanent burn-in shows up and I have to replace it in a year or two. Not sure I'd buy another OLED in that scenario, but I wouldn't be mad.

Your fear is real. We got a 55" CX back in November and put it in the living room. The 55" 1080p Sony LED that was in the living room went into our bedroom, replacing the 40" that was in there. The problem is I don't want to watch anything available in 4K HDR on the bedroom TV now. I have seriously thought multiple times about buying a CX for our bedroom as well. It just looks that good. I won't do it as its not necessary and its a significant amount of money to spend, but its really, REALLY tempting.

Thread Digital Foundry: Is Doom Eternal the most ambitious Switch port yet?
That part is a bit misleading I think. I believe the intent was to get the point across that levels/areas are made up of 80-90 million polys. Right after that is mentioned, they go on to talk about the culling system which allows them to use such high poly counts. 80 million polys a frame would be 4.6 billion polys a second at 60 fps. I'm not sure how many gpus on the market today could pull that off, if any. PS4 and Xbox One definitely cannot (not even close).

I have. That didn't work. I have a pair of Arctis 7X wireless headphones. I suspect that booting the console with the USB transmitter is causing the issue for some reason. I removed it and restarted and it connected immediately like normal. I haven't bothered to reboot with the dongle connected yet, but pretty sure that is the issue as it has come and gone multiple times and I'm confident it correlates to when the USB dongle has been inserted at boot.

Our healthcare system is so f*cked. Healthcare service providers and insurance companies go back and forth negotiating the "cost" of everything. And then, the best part, is that if you don't have any insurance the cost of the services you received are somehow much, much less. As much as 50% less in some cases. I have no idea how that works... More on topic, they don't want to disclose these "costs" as that kind of disrupts the whole "negotiating" process where they attempt to charge insurers as much as possible (while insurers attempt to pay as little as possible).

My PS5 sounds exactly like this as well once running a game. You have to get really close to hear it. I don't think this is coil whine... I think it's just noise from the fan spinning so rapidly. My Series X also has a bit of noise like this when running games. Again, you have to get within about 8 inches of the system to hear it and that's with no audio coming from the TV. For right now, I'm not overly concerned about either system. I'm pretty sure this level of noise is fan-related and normal.

All I said was that the "only 17%" that gets thrown around all of the time here is, in my opinion, a bit disingenuous. I'm not sure why the power difference from last gen keeps being brought up. I'm actually arguing that percentages without context are useless. "Only 17% difference" does a great job of ignoring the fact that we are talking about 2TF of computing power which is significant. Surely you are not saying that 2TF is essentially meaningless...?3rd party will look close because they likely won't take the time to take full advantage of the extra power. Sony 1st parties are hard to beat due largely to talent I believe. That has zero to do with the actual power of the machines. That's a simple, cherry-picked example. Let's consider a PS5 game that runs at a locked 60fps. Series X also runs it at 60fps then and has an additional 2TF of computing power to enhance the graphics. Better shadows, better particle effects, better post-processing effects, etc... Are we arguing you really can't accomplish much with 2TF of GPU compute power? If so, there's a lot of PS4 games that I'd like to show you for the first time...

Thread Digital Foundry | Devil May Cry 5 SE: PS5 vs Xbox Series X - The First Next-Gen Performance Face-Off
For sure. A lot of people here like to throw around the "only 17% difference in power" figure, but that 17% is greater than the gpu capability of the most powerful system at launch from the previous gen (PS4). So... that is not insignificant at all. However, I agree with all the takes that multi-plats will be virtually identical and it will be up to first party efforts to show off the difference in power. That will be a tough task for Microsoft as we all know Sony's 1st parties are REALLY good at pulling off visuals we didn't think possible on the hardware. Regarding the performance, I'd guess its more that the Xbox build isn't as well optimized as the PS5 build. I think that's much more likely than it being a situation where the PS5 is "punching above its weight."

I picked up my Series X at Best Buy this morning. There were about 20 people in line in front of me. Every person ahead of me walked out with just a Series X. No games, no peripherals... it was definitely weird. I've been present at stores for many console launches and usually everyone is also getting a game or two and often an extra controller. Yeah, I had read or saw on youtube (can't remember) that people complained about the brightness of the screens and the loudness of the sound on the very first machines and that Arcade1Up made adjustments. Final Fight is like a Gen 1.5 cab, so I've just assumed the darker screen is due to the tweaks they made. My FF unit is also WAY quieter than my SF unit. In the end, it's not a huge deal, but I'm a bit anal at times and would prefer they were both the same. It doesn't help they are right next to each other. More on topic, I would love to pick up the MK, TMNT, Golden Tee, and Marvel units. The price thing is so bizarre to me... Over the years I have seen people saying they remember paying $80 for Street Fighter II on SNES, but I really don't remember ever seeing those kinds of prices. Granted, I was a kid, but my family only had so much money and I was always conscious of that when I asked for things. I've always thought the vast majority of my SNES carts cost $50 with maybe the ocassional $55 or $60 game. And most of them I was getting at or near release. A bit more on topic, I think it's really as simple as they were two vastly different systems and it all depended what developers focused on and got out of them. I've always preferred the SNES... mostly due to enjoying the library more and due to its advantages when it comes to the color palette (higher number of available colors, higher number of colors on-screen).

This is pretty much spot-on. Another thing people need to consider is how heavily Microsoft is invested in cloud computing and data centers. So... when someone is paying $15/month for GamePass Ultimate to get Xbox Live Gold, XCloud, and GamePass, most of that money can go towards covering the costs of licensing games for the service. Microsoft has other areas of (successful) business that use and cover the cost of their data centers. They are in a unique position to make a service like this work (as is Google), but it will never completely replace people purchasing games (especially the big AAA titles from 3rd parties).

Slight input lag and the framerate can be a bit uneven at times, but totally playable. I'm still impressed. I'm playing on iPhone 7 Plus and I wonder how it would look on a bigger screen (like an iPad), but I'm not going to go buy one just to test this out...

Thread Based on how tech has progressed since the Switch, how powerful could a Switch Pro in early 2021 actually be?
Yeah, a 4x increase in power definitely qualifies as "significant." I'm not particularly concerned with the next Switch being able to get to 4k. I still do all of my gaming at 1080p. Plus, I'd think attractive 1080p games would look fine on a 4k tv or monitor when viewed from the appropriate distance since it's an integer upscale.

They are small without the riser, but actually a decent size with the riser. I have the Street Fighter and Final Fight units. My biggest gripe, and I've never seen this mentioned anywhere, is that they are not scaling the games (at least on these two units) up by an even integer value, so there's pixel crawl all over the place.

Kind of like the Mega Man X games, but with larger areas to explore. And yes, there will be a scanline option, but no filtering of the sprites. I ended up buying one of these yesterday... didn't love the look of it from the photos/videos and none of the colors really did it for me, but ended up with the turquoise. I have to say, the unit looks better in person IMO. It also feels really great and I like the size of it. I haven't really tested the dpad in a fighter or platformer, so I can't comment on that. Surprisingly, my biggest issue with it is the screen size. It just feels a bit small to me, but that also seems to depend on the game. It def felt small for SNES Online games and Capcom Beat 'Em Up Collection. I also thought it felt a bit small while testing out Dead Cells. Mario Kart I didn't have an issue with. It looks as if Nintendo could have possibly put the same screen as the regular Switch in the lite based on the huge bezel size. Had they done that, this thing would be killer. I'm also wondering if that huge bezel is there to make upgrading the screen size on the lite very easy as cost of components comes down. So... I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it. I really feel like Nintendo nailed the size of the regular Switch's screen as far as it being big enough that you still feel like you are playing/getting a console experience on the go. Not quite sure the lite conveys the same feeling. Going to give it another day or so (I've only spent about an hour with it), but we'll see.

I honestly do not know enough about the tech that the Switch and dock use to know whether the $90 price for the dock is reasonable or absurd. I do know that Nintendo would make more money selling someone a $200 lite then having them purchase a $90 dock and $70 joycons separately. And I know Nintendo likes money. So... I really think there was just no way to have the lite be dockable and hit the $199 price point. Of course, stranger things have happened and I could be totally wrong.

Well, if the lite was $200 by itself, but then you need to purchase a dock for $90 and joycons for $80... they (Nintendo) make more money. The lite at $200 is like a cheaper entry point into the ecosystem and then for additional costs you can get the "full" experience. It's honestly a no-brainer. My thought is that they either removed some hardware/chip(s) from the board and/or thermals come into play and it was just not possible to do the lite at a $199 price-point and have it be dockable.

I'm not sure Nintendo was EVER the best graphics developer... it just wasn't their priority. Super Mario 64 and OoT are probably the closest they've ever gotten I think. Their games have always looked great though. As far as the N64 goes, it was an impressive machine for it's time when in the right hands. I always preferred the N64's blurry, low poly look to PS1's warping polys and shimmering textures. I think we can all agree neither is ideal though.

Thread The Verge - xCloud and Stadia "are fundamentally different platforms with different aims and in very disparate levels of readiness"
Eh, article misses the mark a bit I think. If Microsoft bundles xCloud into Gamepass Ultimate (like most are assuming), then for $14.99 or even $19.99 a month (assuming they increase the price) I can stream a huge selection of games to my phone. I don't need to own an Xbox. That's a far better package than what Google is currently pitching for Stadia IMO. Of course, xCloud also extends availability for those who DO own an Xbox and are already part of the ecosystem. Really, they just need to get the service working on more devices (web browser, iOS, etc...). As long as Microsoft offers xCloud to people who do not own an Xbox (of course they will), these are not two different things at all. And I really think Microsoft is currently in a better position to give people what they want out of a game streaming service which is a Netflix-like subscription for games.

I can't speak for every case and every publishing agreement out there obviously, but I believe generally contracts define the dev percentage against the total revenue the publisher receives connected to the game minus specifically defined costs (platform fees, taxes, advance recoup, etc...). In those cases, exclusivity payment from Epic would absolutely be included and the devs would be entitled to their same, agreed upon percentage.

Thread Iron Harvest (Crowdfunded game and published by Deep Silver) is now refusing to say if they will release the game on Steam for non-backers
That's probably unlikely. Most contracts would (should) be structured/worded in a way where the dev would be owed the same percentage of the upfront, EGS money as revenue generated by actual sales. Honestly, I would think in order for publishers to get around this they would have to include a clause in the agreement specifically stating that the dev waives any rights to payments received for platform exclusivity deals.

Well... they did an extremely poor job in explaining how the service works/what you get as evidenced by all of the posters here asking what games Pro includes afterwards. I kind of feel like they were intentionally vague in that presentation regarding how it works--they didn't want to come out and explicitly say "You pay $9.99 a month and then you have to buy all of your games on top of that." One could interpret they vagueness as a lack of confidence in their own offering...

That ending was so well-executed. The music is incredible. The slow mo shots of the Night King walking towards Bran had my mind racing... what's going to happen when he reaches Bran? Will he kill him? Will it be revealed they have a deeper connection? And the misdirection of the cuts to Jon Snow, pinned down by the dragon, were really the icing on the cake. I never saw it coming. My jaw hit the floor when Arya killed the Night King. Regardless of how you actually feel about it from a narrative standpoint, then entire sequence was flawlessly executed. Really awesome stuff. I have zero issues with Arya being the one to kill the Night King. Considering who she is and what she's been through I think the story has "earned" her ability to get the drop on the Night King like she did. However, I do hope we learn more about who the Night King is/was, who Bran is, and their connection. At least some type of exposition dump from Bran afterwards. It would be a huge oversight not to explain things more.

I don't care about using up my storage space... I just like having a physical copy that contains the entire game. Not sure what I'll do now. For this kind of game I would possibly be ok with a locked 30fps and better visuals. However, something about the camera movement in this build just feels off to me at 30fps... it appears really juddery to me at times. I’ve been playing in performance mode instead. I’m actually impressed how good it still looks even though it’s being upscaled.

I played about 2 hours. Seems to be a solid port both in handheld and docked (played a bit of both)! Performance mode is definitely the way to go though. Presentation mode doesn't seem to hold a steady 30fps. There's also this weird judder or something present during camera movement... not sure what's going on there. I've backed various games over the years... backed what became Broken Age and Republique. Never played either haha. Actually, I never even redeemed my codes for them. More recently I've backed Flynn Son of Crimson, Hazelnut Bastille, and LUNARK. None of those have released yet, but I'll certainly play those. I don't back at super high tiers (enough to get the game and pay for a couple extra goodies so that the devs get some extra money towards dev), so I don't worry about it too much. I understand that it's a risk and I'm not promised anything. All in all, I think Kickstarter for games is great. A lot of great games that wouldn't exist otherwise have been made and released thanks to Kickstarter. That outweighs the disappointments for me.Hey, thanks! :) Was hoping to see more Bushiden backers LOL

Thread WSJ: Nintendo to Launch Two New Switch Models. Premium "Enhanced" Model and Cheaper Portable Model.
I totally get wanting to pull in new people with a cheaper model. The "Pro" model is more what I'm questioning. The $300+ I'm going to spend on that as an existing Switch owner could instead be spent on software which is a far larger profit driver. Also, they sold a lot of Switches in 2018. Now, not even a year later, they are basically saying "That $300 device you just bought is on it's way out! Here's the new Switch for the future!" It just seems a bit early to me for a Pro model. And it's not like sales are struggling and need a shot in the arm... BUT... I have no experience in selling hardware of any kind and no market data to go off of, so what do I know? LOL

Thread WSJ: Nintendo to Launch Two New Switch Models. Premium "Enhanced" Model and Cheaper Portable Model.
Two new models at once seems like a strange move... with the way the Switch has been selling I'm not sure a "Pro" or "Enhanced" model is even needed yet... I can see them wanting to add a cheaper model to bring more people in though. I'm not necessarily excited for either of these new versions, but could definitely end up picking one up depending on price and what they offer.

Thread Phil Harrison: Stadia starts an "inevitable and one-way shift" away from consoles | gameindustry.biz
Yeah, they need to develop and promote games that leverage the uniqueness of the platform asap. Games that are only possible on something like Stadia because a developer can have multiple units of the "hardware" running a single instance of the game. In my opinion, that's how you get "gamers" on-board and get them to overlook the shortcomings of the platform. I'm also super curious about pricing... is it a subscription or are you outright buying games the way we do now? Maybe a combination of the two? I'm guessing the latter is most likely.

Interesting. I don't know much about what went on in the beta. I'm not suggesting it's going to be a failure... Thread Prediction - Google will reveal a cheap streaming only device tomorrow and era will wrongly assume its a failing business model
I'm kind of struggling to identify the market for this. At absolute best the performance is equivalent to actual hardware running locally and gets worse from there. From an economics perspective, I'm debating whether someone who can't afford a $300 PS4 or Xbox can afford a $100 streaming box with a $15 a month (or more) subscription fee... I really think that these large companies (Microsoft, Google, etc..) have invested so much money into data centers and are trying to find ways generate revenue/turn a profit on them. As a result, they are pushing game streaming (even if it's not ready or even necessary).

Thread RUMOR: Microsoft Preparing Xbox App & GamePass for Nintendo Switch (Direct-Feed Games)
Well, that's what I'm getting at by saying I'd love to know the details. With the way Nintendo software is selling on Switch, it's not crazy to say they are making more money by selling $60 games then they would by taking a percentage of a $10 a month subscription. Additionally, you are opening your platform up to a competitor to come in and potentially eat into your game sales/profits. I would imagine this partnership, if real, goes deeper and Nintendo could possibly be looking to offload all online services (online play, friends, chat, etc...) to Xbox Live. There HAS to be more to it than "revenue share of GamePass" for Nintendo to be willing to open up their platform to a competitor.

No drifting on either set of joycons, but right right joycon from my neon yellow set (which I bought just a few months ago) has the disconnect issue... super annoying. It happens even when my docked Switch is less than 3ft away. It *seems* to happen if I hold the joycons down in my lap and the top of my desk is "in between" the joycon and the dock. The desk top is made of concrete, so maybe that is part of the issue, but my neon red/blue joycons that came with the system don't exhibit this behavior at all. I had planned to buy the red/blue joycons (so I could do all red or all blue), but now I'm not sure I want to spend the $70 after seeing how the neon yellow have worked out.

I have acid issues. I've been on Pantoprazole/Protonix prescription for almost two years now. The weird thing about my condition is that I've never really had anything that comes up (reflux) or burning pain in my chest. It's just always been intense pain in my stomach. I was taking Zantac for years and that did the trick, but then it got to the point where that was no longer effective. I went to the doctor and had stool and blood tests done which showed no signs of H Pylori. I then had an upper endoscopy with biopsy done and that came back fine as well (my insides look quite healthy apparently). So... the doctors never explained what could be wrong. The Protonix works like a charm for me. However, if I miss a single does (taken once each morning), my stomach typically flares up the same day in the afternoon. Crazy stuff. I sympathize with anyone that deals with this. Mine would typically flare up over night which would then ruin my sleep, but not enough to wake me up. I'd wake in the morning exhausted, laying in the fetal position clutching my stomach. I'd often need to call off of work. It can really be quite debilitating.

I haven't been there in 6 or 7 years now, but I can recommend a couple of personal favorites, assuming things are still the same. First of, there's a Hilton in the Marina District... it's the Hilton Dubai Jumeirah. They have (or had) an awesome outside bar/restaurant on the beach. Very laid back here and the food is good. Probably my favorite place to hang out in all of Dubai during the afternoon. Secondly, I'd recommend eating at Karam Beirut. There's one at the Dubai Mall right on the water where the fountain show is (next to Burj Khalifa). There was also a smaller one at the Mall of the Emirates. For whatever reason, I prefer the Dubai Mall location. I love the food at this place... amazing hummus and bread. I'm not a huge fan of tabbouleh, but I can eat an entire bowl of theirs. I also recommend the spicy lamb. Fantastic stuff.

Eh, Switch won't get swallowed by newer, more powerful machines. Xbox One, PS4, PS4 Pro, and Xbox One X are all already considerably more powerful. Switch's entire success is a result of the utility of the device (portability). They don't need to worry about how powerful these next round of machines are going to be, but they do need to be concerned about what Sony is going to do with PS5 to try and negate Nintendo's advantage regarding portability (I don't think Microsoft will bother).

3 years for PS4 -> PS4 Pro and 4 years for Xbox One -> Xbox One X. All I'm saying is that these companies are going to end up pissing customers off if they keep pushing out new hardware too quickly. I'm not saying it should be 6 years between new hardware, but I think there's definitely a sweet spot that you need to hit and being too aggressive will push past people's tolerance. 2 years seems a bit soon to me. I understand Nintendo has done it before on the handheld side of things, but those were sub-$200 devices. I think perception changes once you start getting into hardware that is $300 and above. Just my opinion, though.

You know... I really don't have an issue with some of this. Inheritance taxes are ridiculous. How many times does the government need to tax the same earnings? Once I've generated income, and paid taxes on it, I should be free to do whatever I want with it... including giving it away to someone in need or passing it along to my children. The amount of tax I actually pay on my income (federal, state, local, sales) is absurd.

Also, not only is inheritance tax absurd, so is the gift tax. And that has a MUCH lower threshold. It's not about the millionaires, it's about the principle. No one's money should be taxed multiple times. Once and done.

We are aware of the possibility of new consoles around the time of launch. We'd do everything in our power to make sure the game is playable on both PS4 AND PS5 and give backers the choice as to which version they want. Unless PS5 is backwards compatible, then there is no issue whatsoever ;)

The game's design and scope is very much locked down. There's ONE thing we'd like to do/add to the game (as far as gameplay goes), but it's definitely going to require a bit of additional money. There's some other stuff we'd like to add, but it doesn't really fall under "game design."

Hey, guys! Thanks for the kind words and the support! It will definitely be announced before the Kickstarter campaign is over, but should be much sooner than that!

Make sure you keep an eye on our Kickstarter. We'll be announcing something that may interest you midway-ish through the campaign ;) PS4 is region free, so the physical copy will work on any PS4 machine. As far as digital goes, we of course want to bring it to every region. I don't think that should be too much of an issue to get done. Thanks! :)

A demo during the Kickstarter? No. The game is early and just not ready for that, unfortunately. The levels are just kind of random brainstorms right now of different layouts.. there's really no finalized flow to things. And there's a lot of work to be done in the SFX department. A demo in the future is possible. People who want to get their hands on this as soon as possible should back at a tier that gets them in the beta. Thanks, thetrin! :) Wow, that's awesome to hear! I actually cut the trailer myself and I have zero experience doing something like that. It's the first video I've ever put together. Glad it did not disappoint! All I can say is that we tried to make a Switch version happen for day one of the Kickstarter. It just didn't work out for us. We can add it as a stretch goal, but the truth is people are going to cry foul when they see how much additional money we need to raise to make it happen. BUT... it would be a realistic, responsible budget. Again, a lot of video game Kickstarters have promised to deliver a lot on budgets that I'm not sure how they made work. These things cost a lot of money to make. I personally have tens of thousands of dollars already spent on making this game. Throw in sweat equity and we are well into six figures. Not a dumb question at all! You can absolutely change your pledge and/or desired backing tier after you've backed. If we end up adding additional platforms we will make sure it is extremely easy for all of our backers to get the game on their desired platform.

Yeah, so you totally get it and those are the kinds of things we are going to be doing with the upgraded abilities. The Phase Shifting is granted to you for clearing one of the stages, but will be used in other stages as well (you'll need it to access areas of significant size in the other stages). Plus, the final level only unlocks once you've cleared the first six stages, so we know at that point that the player has ALL of the upgrades and can design that area to just push everything on the player. We plan for it to be quite epic. Thank you! Well, it's only the third day of the campaign, so it seems a bit early for stretch goals... at least in our opinion. We didn't do early bird as we felt like it's unfair to the other backers. I feel our messaging on the platforms was fine. Steam (PC) and PS4. We are a small team and we can only do what we can do. We are trying to avoid the Kickstarter pitfalls and make sure we actually raise the money we need to develop the game and deliver it on time. We could have added a bunch of swag, but then our funding goal would be considerably more and then people would have concerns over the amount of money we were asking to raise. It's a tough spot to be in. And unfortunately, it seems a lot of people have promised quite a lot on Kickstarter for not very much money at all. I'm honestly not sure how they were able to fund their game. I suppose that's why many of them end up with a publisher afterwards. I will concede that we did a poor job providing some type of exclusive to backers. I suppose I thought the beta inclusion would scratch that itch, but it's performed just ok. Honestly, now that you've mentioned it and it's dawned on me I feel a bit bad that slipped through the cracks. All I can say is that it's hectic creating one of these things, you have a million balls in the air, etc.. something is bound to get overlooked. On the plus side, we've listened to everyone and we turned around and offered physical copies for PS4 inside of two days, so at least that shows that we listen and are reactive. Or so I hope :) Honestly, not sure if that will happen before the Kickstarter is over. Hate to disappoint, but just being honest.

Yes, originally Tim had hope for the first art of what is now Bushiden to be a neo geo game. Tim is definitely 100% focused on Bushiden if the Kickstarter gets funded. Have you seen the stage select screen? We haven’t shared that yet... Also, thanks for he support! We appreciate it :)

Yes, Tim worked on Knight Chance with neoblitz. I believe he did 100% of the art for that one. To my knowldege, he is not working on a new neo geo game, but I could be wrong. He worked on Paprium, but that I believe that work has long been done. He's currently doing some freelance work until the Kickstarter for Bushiden finishes. If we get funded, then he will be 100% full-time on Bushiden.

Our artist is a huge SNK/Neo-Geo fan, so that probably explains that. However, his biggest influence is SOTN. If you really look closely you can see all the nods to it. We aren't targeting any specific system/specs for the pixel art. Just trying to make the absolute best looking and animated pixel art game we possibly can! It's really a combination of the two. It has a Mega Man X-style level select, but the areas inside of the levels that you will be able to unlock as you progress are quite substantial in size. Hmm.. the game is actually quite fast--faster than most games of this type. I"m not sure why it's coming across as slow...

Thanks! I'd say the game is roughly 25-30% done. We are aiming for a solid 6-12 hours of gameplay depending on how much exploration you decide to do and also your skill level. We are not currently planning to include difficulty levels, but we do have some plans to make the game more replayable via stretch goals should the Kickstarter get funded. Enemy respawns are not 100% locked down, but right now the larger enemies would only respawn if you exit the level and return. Smaller enemies will respawn once you have traveled a good distance from their location and then returned. Also, the number, type, and location of enemies will change once the level has been completed (meaning you go back into the level after the boss has been defeated). This will help to keep things fresh we think.

I'm really surprised they are doubling down on the X design/aesthetic (the notch). It seemed the response to it was lukewarm. I don't normally pay too much attention to these events, but I have a 7 Plus, so I'll upgrade either this fall or next fall. Based on the rumors/leaks, I'll probably wait until next year in hopes they come out with something I'm a little more excited about. My 7 Plus still works perfectly so no issues there.

I can’t quite wrap my mind around the wealthy’s thought process. They keep squeezing the working class in order to drive profits and increase their wealth, but at some point there’s a tipping point and no one will be able to buy the products/services that your companies offer... Of course, I imagine the answer is that greed is driving their thought process, but it’s an incredibly short-sighted mindset. Perhaps I’m giving human beings too much credit though...
