Crunchyroll posting that tweet a couple days before the ep was unfathomable to me. Completely irresponsible and shitty, and serving literally no one. Wanted to roast them over it on Twitter but can’t do that (still can’t, really) without potentially taking part in the spoiling.

Levi taking down Zeke was top-tier, easily in the top 5, maybe top 3 moments of the entire series for me. It's a shame Zeke is too valuable/important to be actually dead because that would've been a phenomenal way to end him. Just...straight up wrecked by Levi, didn't even see it coming. Lights out, RIP. Alas...I doubt he's truly gone. Amazing scene though.

I think Falco seeing Reiner on all fours in front of Eren asking Eren to kill him left a mark too - he’s definitely aware that things aren’t as black and white as “we’re good / they’re bad”.Can anyone (taking extreme care not to manga-spoil) tell me if anime-only peeps are supposed to know what the rumbling is at this point? I saw it mentioned in today’s ep but didn’t remember it. Was that in a previous (anime) ep? It’s hard keeping up with all the lingo in this series - the world/backstory has so many layers Thanks for clarifying who Grice was, too - knew I’d remembered that name from not too far back. This show reminds me of Lost in that there are loads of questions I want answers to from several seasons back. (Except Lost didn’t answer most of them, LOL.) Probably a half dozen or so ATM tho the biggest one is why the Owl knew the names of Eren’s crew when he passed the Attack Titan’s powers to Grisha. This show is too damn good lol

I don’t follow the behind the scenes stuff and I don’t watch a lot of anime in general (just for context) but fwiw I think this season has looked awesome so far - the last two episodes had some crazy memorable scenes. The CGI horses in the previous seasons looked laughably bad - it was like PS2 Kessen levels of ugly...

I'm about halfway caught up in the manga and while I appreciate it for what it is, it's kind of insane to argue that the anime pales by comparison. The anime is like a thousand times more exciting IMO - hell, the music alone is SO good! Seeing the story payoffs (which are amazing in this series) come to life on-screen has been such a highlight. The CGI stuff is neither here nor there for me - it all looks great IMO but I understand that some people take this stuff very seriously (and that's coo, no disrespect). Just glad it's not a distraction point for me. The last couple episodes flew by so quick I had to go back and check that they weren't shorter than the older ones, LOL. Maybe my only complaint overall on the anime is that the subtitle translations in the first couple of seasons were a little suspect but they've gotten better since the second half of season three. But everything else = chef kiss

If you ever want to try and sync up for a metal pair run or three, LMK. I think I have 7 or 8 tickets sitting there. I finished 4.0 yesterday and started 4.1 today. I dabbled with some other jobs after hitting the level cap with warrior but ended up at gladiator/battlemaster anyway. I think I just like physical attack jobs, heh heh. Hit level 90 today, and equipped two of those lv 90 falcon+ swords, so that's been fun. Spent some Zelmea tickets to get some level 90 gear and am about to go back to the main story soon. Hoping to get to at least 5.0 by the end of the holiday break, if not be caught up entirely! (Maybe wishful thinking.)

Woot, ver 3 completely finished. Watched the ending last night and just saved after watching the 4.0 prologue. I’m about to hit the level cap with Warrior so I’m thinking about trying a new vocation. Maybe Battlemaster? I raised Paladin into the 90s but it’s kind of a boring class so I think I’m done with it. Interested in another good damage dealer tho and the Battlemasters I’ve played with have been pretty good in that regard. Two rando Q’s: 1. Is the Halloween quest worth doing? 2. When does the voice acting start? Is that version 5? I think I’m all caught up on sub-quests and all the important quests too (bag size, skill point cap increases, etc etc). Apart from the main story I feel like I’m finally no longer playing catch up. Pretty exciting!

I use a mage all the time (they're so powerful!) but haven't run into any MP issues before. I usually warp back to one of the starting towns to hit an inn when my MP is low since the inn costs are so cheap (20G or something? I forget). I do have チャンス! I do not have 200 point skills (only 180). The fight to get 200 is another one of those that totally kicks my ass (though I'll go back and re-think it now w/this new info, at least). I figured I just wasn't ready for it yet. I have 1000+ mini medals - I got all the unique items and then spent a couple hundred on しぐさs and stuff, otherwise haven't used many. I have like 20 yggdrasil leaves tho so for the moment I'm fine, but will keep it in mind if things get dire, haha.

OK, I dumped my usual support nakama and went after ppl who were specifically strong against breath attacks and spells, and that made a huge difference. Next round, I won the fight with relative ease! I'd never even really bothered looking at resistances before - it really hasn't been necessary (probably because I was usually overleveled). It's nice to have to consider this stuff now tho, and I feel like I understand the game a little better for it too. So thanks for the tip! (FWIW, my party was warrior, paladin, mage, and priest.) Just got to the first town in 3.4 and finally moving on again. Woot! (Oh, and re: "pair" tickets - yeah, in English it makes sense, but I didn't trust those guys to be using the word properly in Japanese, so was just checking, haha.) Nice, welcome back! I have a couple of friends at 114-116 already so I’ve been using them but I’m still unable to get the job done (I’m a 108 warrior myself with mostly lv 108 gear from Zenmea). The fight is really tough. Got kinda close yesterday but still I’d say maybe only 60% of the way there, and that was on the easiest setting. IDK much about the class you’re using (Deathmaster) - what’s its deal? More magic focused? Usually when I get stuck I can read the 攻略 tips and get by but somehow with this one I’m still getting roasted (maybe warrior isn’t the best vocation for this one, heh). BTW - do metal pair tickets work for a full party or only for two people? I have eight of ‘em right now I’d like to use but not sure if we could all share or if it has to be just two peeps. (I’ve only ever done it with two before but they weren’t my tickets so I was just along for the ride more or less.)

Also did all the paladin job quests and bought a set of nice level 60 paladin gear as I’m going to try switching over from warrior to paladin this weekend. (My warrior is level 93 but my paladin is level 61.) It’s astounding how much content this game has. I really wish they’d make it possible to dash or ride a mount inside towns and castles tho. So I decided to take some time to clear out quests instead - I unlocked all remaining jobs and got all their passives, then filled out all the stamp cards available to me so far and raised the level cap to 100. I guess I’ll try again? Nothing has been -too- challenging so far until this, so either I got unlucky, or i was too weak... Either way, looking forward to giving it another shot! (Like the 達人のオーブ is new and confusing, but I'm slowly learning about it now.) For now, a few Q's for ppl who know better: - What's the best way to make money these days? Selling mats at the bazaar, or? - How do you typically get new gear? Buying from the bazaar or? - Do you guys typically level up all your jobs or mostly focus on one or two? My warrior is like level 91 or something, not sure how far is worth going before I should start focusing on a diff job instead (all the others are around level 40 or so, I think) Sorry if any of this is dumb; I been playing pretty leisurely but I'm starting to really enjoy it again so I want go get caught up on everything I've missed over the years!

Thread Eurogamer: Yakuza 7 has some of the best RPG combat in a long time
I agree with just about everything you’ve been saying. Balancing a game like this is no easy task and I’m not surprised they fell short this time but if they can manage to make the next one a little more sensible throughout (pacing, chara growth, etc) it could really elevate things. The combat shows a ton of promise, but some aspects just don’t work as intended, and fights later on take way too long without ever feeling threatening. Its forgivable for a first entry tho IMO, especially given how good the game is overall. I can’t wait to see what these guys do next.

Yeah there are definitely some balance issues on the whole that I think will be worked out/improved in whatever game comes next (assuming they stick with the RPG formula), but for a first crack at an RPG I think they did an incredible job. I would've liked more of a reason to change jobs than just the two perma-skills -- one thing they could've done is give you permanent stat boosts at rank 10, 20, 30 to incentivize switching; I basically kept the default jobs for everyone the entire game aside from Kasuga (→Yuusha) and Saeko (→Idol). Now that I've maxed them all out, I started switching jobs on my backup cast while farming Hagure Homeless dudes in one of the bonus dungeons but I'm not confident enough to change jobs on my main party because of the massive stat drops. It's definitely imbalanced and something they can/should fix next time around. But yeah, overall, I'm SUPER impressed with what they managed to pull off with this game, especially given it's only been three years since Yakuza 6 / two years since Kiwami 2 (IDK exactly which team did this but it obviously can't be the same team as Judge Eyes, so I assume it's been in dev for 2 or at most 3 years). RGG Studio is just insanely talented.

About 25 hours in, taking my time with side quests and the like - digging the “game” part of the game quite a bit so far but the writing is a big disappointment? Are you guys who are far in and can read the dialogue actually enjoying it? It feels like a big step down from Y6 and Judgment, which both seemed to learn the value of brevity in conversations. This game jumps back to Yakuza 5 levels of needless exposition, only it’s even worse. Just endless amounts of talking, big chunks of it uninteresting. Also lots of bizarre/hard to believe character motivations and logic jumps that make it feel more like a shonen comic than an actual yakuza drama. Y5 was the only other Yakuza game where I started mashing through conversations because they took too long and/or were boring, but I’ve already done it several times with this one and I’m still only in chapter Anyway, I don’t mean to be a downer because overall I’m still having a lot of fun with the game, but man, coming off Judgment (which, while not flawless, was pretty damn great IMO), I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t feeling a little disappointed...

Just to dispel any myths, if we're comparing this to, say, porting Resident Evil 2 to Switch, then sure, you could say it's not "that much effort." But otherwise, ports like this require a ton of time and resources - we've spent most of the past three months working on these, ironing out GMS bugs and compatibility issues, working with the platform holders to address console-specific needs and functions, creating and testing border functionality, fixing bugs from the PC version, testing the hell out of both ports... It's a ton of work. We're very happy we could get it ready in such a short amount of time, but I promise it wasn't easy. :) Anyway, that's all for now - just wanted to say hi/thanks/take a 5 min break (LOL). I played 0, then Kiwami, then Kiwami 2 on PS4, and they were all great, but Kiwami 1 is def the weakest of the three (by far). 0 was spectacular, and Kiwami 2 was close behind it IMO. I just finished 3 on PS3 tonight and it was pretty terrible by comparison. It’s hard to believe it was written by the same dude - it took me about 22 hours to complete, and I’d say 19 of those had awful story and characterization. Everyone says it’s the worst in the series tho, so I’m soldiering on to 4 next...but I’m excited to eventually get to 6 and get back to A) the dragon engine (so good!), and B) the modern Atlus localizations (way, way better than the old Sega stuff). If they bring the PS4 versions of 3, 4, 5 west, I sure hope they brush up the localizations to be in line with the more recent games. 3’s was pretty bad by comparison...

Thank you! We write the VO, but we don’t actually oversee the recording sessions. Glad you’re digging it tho! I’m quite fond of Xander myself (current fav). :) Thanks for the kind words about the loc! More on unbinding below... I think the prob is people are confusing it to be an in-world term when it’s just an alternative way of saying “uncap”. If I were to spell it out, the meaning is “unbind the level limit”. No diff from “uncap the level limit”. (Which is what the Japanese means.) We always strive to go with terms that sound smooth and natural in english - we don’t worry too much about what other games are doing when we localize. Same reason we went with “endeavors” instead of hyper literal/bland (IMO) “missions”. Thank you! NOA deserves a lot of credit too tho, those guys seriously care about quality and always strive to make for the best situation possible for us to do our thing. I probably shouldn’t be going too in-depth about this sorta thing so I’ll likely shut up for a while but basically just wanted you guys to know that we care and we’re listening. :) Thanks for the feedback and good luck in the upcoming showcase! (I’ve got like 6000 wyrmite saved up in hopes of landing another 5★...)

Fear not - this and tons of other fixes should show up in the next update. And we’ll continue to make adjustments whenever we find stuff that warrants it. Thanks for your patience early on as we iron out the kinks!

Added. And thanks! Yeah, Monster Strike is still the most fun I’ve ever had with a mobile game, but this comes super close. Co-op really brings games like these to another level. Excited to see how this evolves over time.

Thanks! Sorry for the misc. text issues here and there - most of them have been fixed and will be live in the next update, and we’ll continue to refine/polish as we go. Glad ppl are enjoying the game tho! (I am too!)

What’s the best quest for farming bronze emblems? Anyone know? Got all the silvers and golds I wanted, but I need more bronzes so I can get the 100 blazon award. Trying to nab that last Pele from box 4 and the extra 100 blazons would help a lot...

Thanks, y'all~ <3 We've got another giant-ass project slow-cooking at the moment, plus a bunch of other misc. things in the works. This was indeed one of the big ones we were hinting at, but not the only one!

Looks like last I played my level cap was 65, so raised it to 75 today with a friend and started on the quest to get the speed boost for the ドルボード. Baby steps, but slowly starting to get a feel for things again!

Woo! I started up again yesterday. It’s gonna take a while to get back in properly but planning a sort of Switch DQX LAN party with some friends over the holiday break this year where the goal is to get caught up if I’m not already. My player info: HS695-371 ジョン

Just FYI! (Experimenting with some ideas. Also looking for a name for this segment in case we decide to keep it, so suggestions welcome, LOL.)

I was hungover during the second half, might have been that, not sure. December is a busy month for socializing in the JP games industry. :)

Aw man, I miss the 1UP Show. I also miss the spectacle of lining up at launch for a new system; doesn’t really happen anymore thanks to preorders. Those were good times!

Thanks for the thread! <3 Re: NeoGAF, we kinda just ran out of time, we weren’t intentionally avoiding it or anything. JJ and I were mods there literally from day 1 (I think he was user #6 and I was #14), and also on regular GAF before that; obviously seeing it burn down was tough to watch, but the beautiful thing about it (as Resetera has shown) is that it was always about the community first. Which is why it felt so natural and easy to move over here. Both of us helped out with giving the crew here advice in setting up Resetera too. I’m super happy to see it thriving, and glad to see we have a home here for the podcast as well!

Guys, what the fucking fuck. Seriously. ELEVEN legendary raids in a row, no catches. I missed Entei entirely over it (0 for 10), and now I just threw 9 curveballs at Ho-Oh, all Nice, Great, or Excellent - and still no catch. What the fuck? Is my account just cursed or what? At first it was like oh wow bad luck haha but now I’m ready to go burn Niantic down over this shit LOL Somebody hold me...
