ThreadPhil Spencer: Halo Infinite shipping in parts was considered as an option, teases "strong" Gamepass announcements, Series X as quiet as the Xbox One X
In my weekly podcast, I said that , 343 came out and said and I took a lot of shit for this...a lot in DMs, emails, forum posts, news posts...a lot. And as it turns out: Halo MP was considered /still being considered to not ship with the SP part of the game ...and it is not shipping this fall, exactly as I had said.

I appreciate 343 roasting me when my info was more accurate than the community manager's info.

I don't know when the game will come out other than their stated 2021 at this point. What I need to do is go back and look at all my notes about Halo development that I didn't write-up and piece this story together about how we got to this announcement.

Yes, Yarnell is an update for xCloud - I wrote or did a video about it somewhere but i dont think it's the full Scarlett rollout for xcloud -
And this confirms my video earlier this year that Anthem is the internal codename for some of the xCloud platform -

The three differences between anaconda and lockhart: less powerful gpu, smaller ram, and lower storage, i beleive it had the same cpu.
I dont think this impacts Anaconda in really any negative way at all.

What is Microsoft trying to do? Match Sony on price and beat them on performance.
I would be surprised if either Sony or Microsoft knows what they will price their consoles at, do they have target price points? Yes. But they dont have a final BOM from AMD/partners yet to know what it will cost to build this these consoles.
It's still the very early days of actually building hardware, lots will change between know and fall of 2020.

No joke, about 5 different people who probably would know things started pinging several minutes a part...at this point, might as well just sit back and see.

Further clarification on this, i have heard both Infinite is and isnt being played on stage, it's possible one source heard "halo gamplay at e3" and assumed Infinite.

Ive heard several times that the absolute final specs are not locked down - clock speeds and other items are still in flux - this why when i see a definitive spec list dump, i have serious doubts.

Was told they are expected to talk in multiple % terms of performance gains, IE 2x,3x,4x,
So XB1S - 4x performance for Lockhart, 2x of XB1X for Anaconda.
This was hard info to lock down mostly becuase I dont think Microsoft fully knows yet, they just started getting production samples from AMD and performance output can vary widely right now with simple things like adjustments to clock speeds etc. Among those talked to, who absolutely would know this information, these performance figures were the consuses of the group.
ThreadNext-gen PS5 and next Xbox speculation launch thread - MY ANACONDA DON'T WANT NONE
Sure and I agree, things are confusing based on that.
Microsoft's Dante (the dev kit) is more powerful than Anaconda, this is typical, as you give devs the kitchen sink and ship a subset of that hardware. From what i have seen, the dev kit matches the CPU/GPU but things like RAM, and ports are different. Anaconda will have a smaller amount of RAM but I dont think it's locked down yet as they wait to see how performance shakes out across the industry.
To go from 12 to 16 gb of ram is trivial at this point, or to go from 16 to 32 etc can be done but will come down to cost. So what I believe is happening, they are weighing out Sony's options and pricing RAM and storage etc (still expecting full solid state, likely of the NVME flavor) to make sure they are significantly more expensive than the PS5 but they also want that crown of highest performing device.
It's a bit like poker, Microsoft wants to, at minimum, match the PS5 but in reality, is trying to have better specs at the end of the day. But with neither company playing their cards fully yet, we don't quite know.
Remember, the base features, CPU/GPU are both coming from AMD, so raw features for those parts will be similar but will come down to thinks like clock speed, cooling, and software optimization.

Curious, where else has Argalus shown up? Second time I have heard that in the past week or so.
But yes, Arden is a name for a SoC/chip for Xbox but I dont know how it fully plays into the setup, it could be the CPU/GPU codename as a project or a specific component.
ThreadNext-gen PS5 and next Xbox speculation launch thread - MY ANACONDA DON'T WANT NONE
Here's the problem with this...in what ways is it more powerful - is it TFLOPS, more RAM, higher clock speed, faster BUS speed, all of the above? - we don't fully know yet.
ThreadNext-gen PS5 and next Xbox speculation launch thread - MY ANACONDA DON'T WANT NONE
This is the reality of the world that we live in, thinking this information shows up on a silver platter with all the marketing details 6 months before it is released is not how this world works - I wish Phil called me up after drinking a bottle of scotch and set out the roadmap but that's a dream for now.
I was told that the console would be $200 or less was the target and then they tossed in games to artificially raise the price to $250 likely to cover up the fact that the console ended up being more expensive to manufacture than expected.
ThreadNext-gen PS5 and next Xbox speculation launch thread - MY ANACONDA DON'T WANT NONE
Yes, but again, this is going to be the target, not explicitly the results.
Microsoft doesn't know what Sony will price the PS5 at, but it's reasonable to assume it's going to be $3-499-ish, this is what Microsoft will target as well.
ThreadNext-gen PS5 and next Xbox speculation launch thread - MY ANACONDA DON'T WANT NONE
I believe (could be wrong, we have been talking about this for a long time) I stated that Microsoft was aiming to match the price point of the PS5 with Anaconda. Lockhart should be cheaper, aka the value device, for the next gen.
From what I have been hearing, it is my expectation that Anaconda will top PS5 in terms of raw specs, that's the expectation but there are a lot of variables to this equation.
ThreadNext-gen PS5 and next Xbox speculation launch thread - MY ANACONDA DON'T WANT NONE
Yes, the console MSRP to be sub $200, this is accurate. I was not expecting them to bundle a bunch of games with this hardware to artificially raise it's perceived value.
ThreadNext-gen PS5 and next Xbox speculation launch thread - MY ANACONDA DON'T WANT NONE
I believe this is still accurate, what I wrote is that the console would be $200 or less - when you add the value of the three games it comes with in, this is accurate. If SoT, FH3, and Minecraft are worth ~$20 or more, than the console is less than $200.
