Thread RTTP: GOW ghost of sparta.... Black magic
Thank you so much for the kind words! Ghost was our 2nd GoW and our 3rd game on PSP - by the time it got started our tech/pipelines on the machine was very mature and our design tools were as refined as we could make them. We were equipped to deliver to our full potential from the get go, so the development of Ghost was basically 100% content creation - obviously the ideal case for how to spend game development resources. Also why, when the foundation is solid, subsequent titles on the same platform often deliver experiences exponentially deeper/more memorable than their predecessors. It seems like ages ago, but it is just wonderful for us to see people still discover and enjoy these old portable games. :)

Well... Moss has been reviewed/covered by most mainstream sites, and deservedly so. They got way more coverage than we got with the Echo games (not complaining, just stating the obvious). I am sure that being on PSVR helps, given the installed base, but I'd like to think that things are also just getting better. Some day not too far into the future it'll make sense financially and artistically for the press at large to cover VR games. Hopefully soon... :)

Thread What video game developers do you know of that are famous for porting games to other platforms?
You are correct - the only thing we ever ported was Okami to the Wii, only did it because we loved the game so much, and even for that we hired an all new external team (even had a separate office) to make sure it would not distract from the main team's work. Our games release before 2015 were based on existing IPs (Daxter from ND, GOW from Sony Santa Monica) but they were written from scratch, with no assets, code or design reused from the respective IP creators.

Thread 16-year old Joseph Saelee defeats 7 time Classic Tetris World Champ Jonas Neubaurer [video]
He said as much in the interview after the semifinal - he was spent, you could tell from the first game against Joseph, and then the kid's play style definitely got to his head. I have no doubt he will reassess and train specifically for the new challenge. It is actually a good thing because Jonas has been so dominant the last 4 years he probably needed a new goal to rekindle that old competitive spirit. Next year will be even more awesome... :)

I've been obsessed with Classic Tetris since the amazing Ecstasy of Order documentary came out - I've followed every tournament and exhibition match for the last 6 years, seen some truly amazing moments and watched the level of the game rise to truly insane heights, and still yesterday's championship was something truly special. Jonas is a class act, and Joseph's style is going to change the game in the next few years. Best of all, got to watch the last day with my 10 y/o son who had no idea what it was all about at the start of the day, and by the semis was yelling things like "What a tuck! He had a two frame window!" :D We had a blast.

I think the Go is a HUGE leap forward for VR in terms of both convenience and accessibility - feels like the beginning of a new phase for the medium. :)

Are you asking me? Cuz I have no idea. My guess is that it seems like the perfect opportunity for enterprising 3rd parties to provide some sort of hook-up solution (like a cover for a tablet). Maybe... ;) Still, were it up to me, something customized to improve the seal around the nose to block more light would be the first thing I'd try to come up with...

Yes, there are still compromises, but I feel this is a device that makes the sacrifices that are most logical for the current state of the industry - freedom from tethers and (especially) cost are going to open doors for lots of new users and applications, and where the users are the developers follow, which means we will get lots of new, innovative VR apps and games. VR really needs this, there is only so much that can be accomplished in the "premium" space where the development financials just don't justify much beyond investment - at some point you got to turn investment into market. With the Go, an actual self-sustaining ecosystem is a realistic possibility because the device is "good enough" and, crucially, affordable enough to attract a new audience. That's my hope at least. :)

Thread PCVR Game Discussion Thread - A New Era of Gaming
We thought so too, but it was not - we tried every possible combination we could think of, and we fully implemented and tested them all. For one thing, having to hold the gun meant that you could not grab on to the environment with that hand, which with the Echo games movement system had a big negative impact on your ability to exploit the environment. Then there is the issue that free floating objects in 0g don’t stay put - you knock them over or let them go and move away and getting back to them becomes a huge chore. At the end it was not fun - so our designers went with this approach, as it lets the player prioritize skill mechanics that feel more rewarding instead of frustrating.

Not sure how when and how much you tried, but there are thousands of people playing Echo Arena every day, and it has been growing since launch last year. If the closed beta of Echo Combat last weekend is any indication, there will be even more playing Echo Combat. I really doubt finding players will be an issue. :)

I cannot confirm or deny anything but work on these games is ongoing and development will continue for quite some time, so cool stuff will continue to come along - that's the goal at least. :)

Thanks! To be clear, chucking stuff at other players is awesome, and you can still pick up and toss objects. Also, you can "grab" behind your back and throw a grenade into your enemies, which is highly satisfying. ;)
