You're right. Also this is the global version of the game. The same version you buy in the US basically. The game does not have an official release in Mainland China, it has not gone through the approval process there and no changes have been mandated by the Chinese government ore regulators. So I wouldn't read into this too much with the most generous interpretation being the one above and the least generous interpretation being that they could have changed it in advance of a Mainland China release. But ultimately people are jumping to conclusions overall.

Even the PS4 total is off. No matter if you count sell in or sell through, it magically sold more units than Sony reported themselves. The US and Japan numbers are correct since it's based on NPD and Media Create/Famitsu data. The European country numbers are based on GfK data, but some seem to be upweighted / slightly different to what GfK reports. I'd ignore the rotw estimates and global totals.

Some historical context. Dev kits are out there for both consoles. I obviously have no idea how widespread both are. At the moment devs can create games on them, but they can't be finalised. Final dev kits won't ship till mid next year (approx), that allow them to finalise games.

The report is through to September 30th 2019. The game launched mid October. CDPR is only talking about the initial shipment on Switch ordered by retailers. It's not indicative of anything. They even mention this in the report.

Not sure if mentioned but it looks like the original tweet is phrased extremely poorly. Whilst the original tweet implies it's comparing all consoles in their first 71 months. It's actually comparing 71 months of PS4/XB1 sales to total lifetime sales for all the other consoles. Wii was significantly higher than 360 after 71 months, but 360 surpassed Wii at the end. The PS4 surpassed PS1's total after 71 months already, but is still behind PS1's lifetime sales total. Maybe this post can be added to the OP to clear everything up.

Loving the game so far. The world is absolutely amazing and I love how the quests are done and tracked. Means I have a lot more freedom to do what I want. The "A quest is nearby" thing is awesome too. Discovered my first bug today though. Was crouched next to a tree whilst assassinating a dude riding by on a horse. The animation showed me lunging through the tree to assassinate the NPC. After that I ended up stuck in the tree and couldn't run out of it lol.
