Thread Rumor: E3 about to be cancelled, official announcement coming soon (Update: All but confirmed)
"They could have waited until April or May" is such a bad take. Cancelling now gives an alternative time to be put together, travel plans to be cancelled with refunds in place etc. Leaving it until the last minute is just not an option. I really do wonder what happens next year when publishers realise how much cheaper doing their own thing is. Sure, E3 is always about more than just the press conferences, but if they get the demos out to press in other ways & broadcast their own events, surely that's a better option?

I'm not flaming anybody - there's been tons of communication about potential issues and, as mentioned, the patch has been out a while, with a request from the PR to potentially hold the review if issues were experienced until it's possible to play on a patched version. FWIW it ran flawlessly for me, with one crash in 12 hours on PC.

That tweet from Geoff is really ominous. As someone who's presented the customer facing parts of the show (at least in the mainstream, the E3 colosseum is normally front page on YouTube) to turn round and say "I don't feel comfortable with what I know about the show"? Man... Anyway. I've been privileged enough to go to E3 and Gamescom several times. Gamescom is by far the better event, even though it's fucking enormous. E3 feels like it's been coasting on its name recognition alone for the past couple of years, and with them opening it up to the public and all the surrounding fuck ups, it's not good.

Thread Best Philips TV for gaming with ambilight
I have an 803 OLED in my living room, and It’s honestly the best tv I’ve ever used. I bought it after the Android 8update rolled out and have had no real software issues to speak of. However, it’s rare that I game on it (I have a games room/office for that). It’s honestly fine for the vast majority of games I play, but I probably wouldn’t recommend it for hosting a fighting game tournament. 40ms sounds high to me, but I’ve not done any measurements on my set.

Thread What were the greatest sports moments of the 2010s?
Personally, it's this. And it's not even remotely close. I lost my dad in 2008, and couldn't go back to watch my football club after he passed as it was just too painful. Then, almost 9 years to the day, I went back to watch my team, languishing in the non-league, take on a team 3 divisions higher in the FA Cup. And in the dying moments, this happened. i still get goosebumps. This led to us going on a run for the history books, becoming the first non-league club in over 100 years to get to the quarter finals of the competition, 2 promotions and another trophy in 3 years, and led to the manager being poached by a club in a higher league, sadly. This moment put football back in my heart.

Maybe some more detailed error messages when uploading games - Had a couple of instances where I had to manually name things but they didn't get uploaded due to the date format. Crazy optimisation went into that last patch! Only major issue I had was with textures refusing to load in, but switching out to a different quality immediately sorted it. DLSS worked well on everything apart from the grids in security windows, which looked *VERY* strange and cross-hatched. This. Bury are about to get kicked out of the EFL on Friday, because of a fucking conman with an overly inflated sense of his own self worth. Steve Dale has no right to be anywhere near a football club, yet here he is, with a club that's got over a hundred years of history, and it's going to go pop because he wants to make a quick £3m. For those unaware, the company carrying out the administration of Bury FC, RCR Holdings, was registered in July. There's one director. That director is the partner of Steve Dale's daughter. There are assets of £100, yet apparently Bury owe them £7m. With Bury having games suspended left and right, and Bolton seemingly doing whatever they want, it's throwing the season into chaos already. It's August. Not a Bury fan, we (Lincoln) came up with them last season, Please, whoever you support, try and make whatever noise you can about getting rid of Steve Dale from Bury FC and keeping the club alive. I bought a Ventus 2060 the other week and it's been superb. Max temperature I've seen from it (even during stress tests) is 70 degrees, and even then the cooler is really quiet. It OC's like a beast as well, I'm getting 1980MHz out of it pretty consistently, occasionally it even ticks over to the 2000MHz threshold. The backplate is plastic, not metal, but don't let that put you off, the Ventus is an excellent card

My 2060 and Meshify C/Red front panel arrived the other day, so I eagerly got everything stripped out of my old case and installed into the new one. Threw a few games onto it to test it out, and managed to get a near-as-dammit stable 60fps on ultra in BFV with RTX enabled at 1080p. Ryzen 7 1700 OC'd to 3.9GHz MSI Ventus 2060 OC'd to 2010 MHz 16GB 2666MHz RAM Asus Prime B350 Mobo. Any other titles I should check out for pure eye candy? Moved up from a 780 and the difference is staggering so far!

It's only rated for 2666 sadly. I've tried manually overclocking it but I'll be honest, I have no sodding clue what I'm doing when it comes to the timings etc :(

Finally bit the bullet on a new GPU today. I was umming and ahhing between the 1660Ti and the 2060, went for the 2060 in the end. I still play at 1080p on a TV so it'll be more than enough for most games, and I wanna check out how good BFV looks with the ray tracing stuff... I think I already know the answer to this, but just *how much* of a difference will I notice going up from a 780? :p (I'm running a Ryzen 7 1700 OC'd to 3.9GHz) Also plumped for a new case - got a Meshify C in white with a red front panel

Just watched Into the Spider-Verse on 4k Blu-Ray on my 803... Holy flurking schmidt. This is by far the best purchase I've ever made. Absolutely unreal. The scenes with Kingpin when he filled the screen were as creepy as they'll get, just a little ball of flesh in a sea of pure black. I want more!

My 55" Philips 803 OLED arrived yesterday, and I'm absolutely blown away. Going from an 8 year old Samsung 6 Series LED (which isn't a bad 1080p set) to this is just... Holy shit. Some of the reviews for this set have put it ahead of the C9 in terms of PQ even though they're using the same panel. Uniformity is great, no DSE that I've seen with any calibration images I've used. The ambilight feature is beautiful when set up correctly as well. I've got it set to slightly less bright than default, so it doesn't overwhelm the set. Hopefully going to get some games through it tonight - Got a PS4 slim in the living room that's hooked up to it, and a Pro in the games room... Just need to see if I can convince the wife to give me some time taking the pro downstairs now!

Finally got wife approval/bit the bullet on a Philips 55" 803 OLED. Arrives on Monday. All reviews seem to point to it being on a par with the C8, if not besting it in a few categories, and it's got ambilight, which I love. Anyone had any hands-on with these? I'm like a kid on Christmas Eve right now!

Philips 9002 OLED is £1199 on Prime Day. I'm a sucker for ambilight and have been waiting for details of the 803... I really want to pull the trigger on a new set but I know I'm not getting wife approval on it for a while :P

Wrong way round. The patch is live now, it doesn't allow saved games on *this* patch to be used on previous versions.

If you drop a container down the side of a mountain, it will roll down and potentially destroy the cargo inside it. However, if you're in a timefall storm, and it's eating away at the container, you can repair that damage before it starts to affect the cargo.

This thread... This thread is something else. Someone commented on our review on YT saying "This shouldn't be reviewed as a bad delivery simulator game" and proceeded to tell me how Kojima thinks for about 3 paragraphs... We gave the bloody thing a 9.5!

Are we seriously jumping back on board this train again? Story-heavy games, I get the need for completion before a review. But not every game has to be played to absolute completion to form an opinion on it. (I try and finish most of the games I'm reviewing, FWIW)

Sometimes, you don't need to finish a game to know where you're landing on it. I reviewed Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, and within 20 minutes I knew where my score was going to be. It was fucking awful.

Without Batman, Arkham Asylum would be crap. Without football, FIFA would be rubbish. Incredible insight, there. The game is what it is, with all components contributing to it.

Gonna drop this in here once more after the chaos that was embargo time. Would really appreciate if y'all could watch and share. We're a small site but we occasionally get stuff to hit embargo, and it's a chance to prove we can hang with the big boys

Thread Days Gone |OT| A Deacon of Hope
30 hours is about right. Might be a better place to post this instead of the pit that the review thread has become! I really enjoyed it. (Our review FWIW: ) Anyway - the people piling in on that line of dialogue from the wedding - don't. There's another cutscene later on that gives it a shitload of context and makes an admittedly shitty joke somewhat endearing. The game's got flaws, and I was HEAVILY sceptical going in, but after spending a shitload of time with it, I found myself coming round to it. I was fortunate enough not to have some of the bugs that other reviewers have had, but I can see that they'd royally fuck up a score if I did. Anyway, reviews are opinions & all that jazz, as someone who legitimately enjoyed it in the face of some overwhelming negativity, I'm happy to answer questions (might be in the morning as it's nearly midnight here!)
