Thread Drawful 2 is free on Xbox One, Epic Games Store, Steam
This game is absolutely perfect for social distancing. The Jackbox folks even set up a site dedicated to telling you how to set up remote games: I've been playing with friends remotely and we've found that a few of the games aren't really ideal for remote play, like Fakin' It (Party Pack 3) since it requires raising hands and pointing at people. Tee K.O, Drawful, and Fibbage are always my favorites. What other games are people here liking with remote play?

I tried Virtual desktop but just couldn’t get it working reliably. I have a good router and am using 5GHz but just ended up returning the app and going back to Link. Very happy with Oculus’s return policy! For Link I’m using the same setup as . Works well! The cables are a little heavy but I route them in through the back of the headset and that helps. Can't wait to watch this later! Thank you and :-) I'm curious about peoples' performance and I may as well ask here since there isn't a HL:Alyx performance thread. I'm using a GTX 2060 + Core i5-9600K + 16GB DDR4 + Oculus Quest / Link and it seems to run really well on Ultra settings most of the time, but the game recommends Medium settings and I'm not sure why.

A few things: 1) Is anyone else having issues with Quest Link and launching the Steam VR overlay while in game? When I do, performance absolutely tanks for some reason until I close it. 2) is anyone seeing performance issues after playing for 20-30 min? Game runs perfectly for me usually but after a while it starts hitching until I exit and reload the game. My PC temps are fine so I don’t think that’s why. 3) what do people do for comfort with the Quest Link? the cable hanging off the side causes strange weighting that gets tiring after a while.

Quick question - in chapter two when you first run into some enemies and there's a pipe laying around, are you supposed to be able to swing that pipe at enemies to harm them? I tried swinging at them, stabbing at them, etc. and the enemies just didn't react at all. I had to shoot them to take them out. Using a Quest + Link if it helps. Tracking otherwise works perfectly for me.

I wonder if anyone can help me with my Quest + Link setup as I get ready for Alyx tomorrow? I have a GTX 2060 and a Core i5-9600k and when using the Quest Link usually it runs really well. But I was trying out for my first time and I was getting awful VR performance every time it was loading a new level, or if I hit the Home button to go back to Steam VR - it would run at like 2-3 fps and cause all sorts of weird things to happen. Is this just something which happens with The Lab? Or could there be something I need to configure differently? In general, it seems like the Quest has some issue with the Steam VR overlay and such. When using pure Oculus stuff it seems to run much better than whenever I load up Steam VR.

Ooo, interesting, thanks! I'll try this out. I already had to enable "unknown sources" just to launch Steam VR at all but I didn't realize I could launch Steam games without first loading the Steam VR UI.The SteamVR home environment itself ran well. It just seemed to get screwed up temporarily while transitioning from one thing to the other. FWIW SteamVR used to run horribly for me, but then I realized it was because my PC was set to 4K resolution and SteamVR was picking that up automatically. Once I scaled my desktop resolution down to 1080p, SteamVR worked great (except for while loading stuff)

YEP As an aside, don't bother with Sidequest right away. I spent hours messing with it, getting custom songs installed for Beat Saber, etc. and found that the vast majority of custom songs are so bad that it wasn't worth the trouble. Meanwhile, I couldn't get the latest Camellia song pack (which was free) without jumping through hoops all over again, so it was a huge pain in the butt for nothing. Sidequest is an option for you in the future if you ever do get bored, but it's super silly to go and jump on that as literally the first thing you do when there are so many amazing things you can do with it from the outset.

I absolutely love my Quest. I bought a PSVR last year and used it a bit, including Astro Bot. Astro Bot itself was fantastic, as well as some other games like Moss, but I always had problems with the headset itself - "world drift" always happened no matter how carefully I tried to calibrate things over and over again, which is immensely nauseating, especially in Moss. and managing the cables was just a pain. So when the Quest came out, I sold my PSVR and honestly don't miss it at all. There are a couple PSVR exclusives I wish I could play, but the Quest is such a fundamentally better experience in every way, that it's worth missing out on those couple of PSVR exclusives. I've put 40+ hours into Beat Saber, many hours into other games like Vader Immortal, Super Hot, and Serrento VR, and a bunch of others. The ease of picking up and just....using it, is a revelation. No tracking issues, no cables to mess around with, no "world drift", and excellent hand controllers easily offset the relative under-powered-ness of the headset itself.

No it's not still the case. I play in handheld mode all the time on 5GHz wi-fi. My ping is usually around 40ms according to the scoreboard. There's zero input latency as far as I can tell, and I don't have any issues with visibility whether in 1v1 or 3v3 matches. It is true that there's no AA but it doesn't hamper my enjoyment of the game. I now have around 15 hours in the Switch version and I never play the game on my Xbox One or PS4 anymore. The competition will be roughly the same since it has full cross-play with the PC and Xbox One versions. So there are always tens of thousands of people to matchmake with, and I regularly see 100,000+ on the weekends. But that also means there will be plenty of people at all skill levels, not just the high-end.

A few people earlier in the thread said their perceived input lag went down when they adjusted the controller dead zone - that it wasn't actually input lag but rather poor configurations. Is that not the case? Are you seeing significant lag in button presses as an example?

I'm not really sure if I'm interpreting your point correctly, but re-reading your posts, I think your complaint is that you think you can't run ordinary Win32 / non-UWP apps on this tablet. But that's not the case. Windows on ARM is fully capable of running nearly all 32-bit Win32 apps automatically, through emulation. The emulation gets better automatically as programs get analyzed in real-time by the emulator, and those optimized emulator profiles get automatically saved for use the next time you run them so that Win32 apps get faster over time over emulation. The Windows team has also built tools to make it fairly easy for developers to recompile (some) Win32 apps into ARM, so that emulation isn't necessary. On Browsers specifically, Chrome and Firefox work pretty well through emulation already, and . This is in addition to the new version of Edge that Microsoft is working on, which is based on Chromium.

Question about Car Play, (or maybe this is just how my Toyota RAV4 works?) Is there a reliable way to do the following: * Connect phone via USB to car * Use Google Maps via CarPlay * Have music playing from the car's speakers (FM Radio) * Have a podcast playing from that phone via bluetooth to my ear buds Sometimes on a long trip, I just want to listen to a podcast while my wife's driving and listening to music on the radio. But it's really tough trying to get this to work correctly. Often what happens is I'll start playing the podcast on my phone and instead of going through my bluetooth ear buds, it'll start playing over the car's speakers and stop the radio. If I hit play/pause on my ear buds I can sometimes get it back working the way I want it to, but not reliably.

So, over the last year I've noticed that this is only a problem when I use the Google search app. iOS almost always remembers my last used audio source, except for if I load the Google search app. Nearly without any exceptions, if I load the Google search app, then that would immediately make iOS "forget" my last audio source. Maybe there's a bug in the Google app where it acts like the primary audio source temporarily, thereby cancelling out the previous audio source?

Thread Digital Foundry | Gears 5 Analysis: A New Technological Standard For Xbox One?
More importantly IMO, from a technical achievement perspective, is that it's not "twice as hard" to render 60fps vs. 30fps. It's more like 2.5-3x as hard. At 30FPS, you have 33.3ms to render everything At 60FPS, you have 16.6ms to render everything But that 33.3ms or 16.6ms isn't entirely devoted to graphics rendering or animation. There is also a good chunk of that time devoted to other things which are constant regardless of frame rate. So (just spitballing here), if that "other stuff" takes 7ms, then that leaves 26.3ms at 30FPS, or 9.6ms at 60fps. So in that purely hypothetical / made up example, it would mean at 30FPS you have ~2.74x (26.3/9.6) the amount of time to render the frame compared to 60FPS. Nothing is this simple to calculate of course, but this kind of math is what always impresses me about any developer who manages to achieve 60FPS games on console.

The fact that a few insiders might have been a bit over-enthusiastic a few years ago doesn’t negate the incredible achievement that is the Quest. Just 3 years ago we had a $600 Rift which required separate $200 controllers (released 7-8 months later) and outside-in trackers, and an extremely powerful PC for 2016, with an obnoxiously complicated setup and a cord always in your way. A month ago I spent $400 for an all-inclusive headset which included touch controllers and had it up and running playing Beat Saber and SUPERHOT within 10 minutes of taking it out of the box. This progress is nothing short of mind blowing. I can’t wait to see what comes in 3 more years.

SUPERHOT VR is a revelation. I played the "2D" version on Xbox and knew the VR version was completely different, and I knew on the Quest they designed the game to take full advantage of how everything is untethered and such, but I had no idea just how utterly engaging the game would be. Even compared to a Rift or Vive, the Quest is something else. Ducking behind cover, casually walking around without worrying about wires getting in the way, effortlessly dual-wielding, and on and on. I seriously cannot believe that I got all of this cleanly packaged together in a $400 bundle. Some general questions I'm starting to have now that I'm settling in:

Thread The Division 2 - BETA |OT| Core temperature rising. Threat of hypothermia decreased.
Right, but I'm saying that the item comparison doesn't include transferring mods from the old item to the new item. So it's a skewed comparison as it compares a modded item to a non-modded item. I'm asking if there's a simple way to do the "fair" comparison, without needing to actually remove all of the attached mods before comparing them.

This is a really awesome and clear layout of all the systems I was having trouble understanding. Thanks for sharing! One general question, which may equally apply to The Division 1, but I'm still confused about it in The Division 2 - Are there easy ways to compare items when I have Gear / Weapon Mods attached? It always seems tough to compare because the mods boost stats, and those mods would also boost the stats of the items I'm comparing them to. For example, is there a way to activate an item comparison where it shows what that new item would be after transferring the current item's mods over to the new item? For what it's worth, I have the same problem with Diablo 3's loot, so it's not unique to The Division, but I wonder if there's something I'm missing.

In the beta I was kind of confused about the purpose of the flare? Does it just look cool, or does it have a functional purpose? I was playing co-op with two other people and we could easily find each other, so we couldn't really tell what the flare was for. Thread Why doesn't Microsoft just put Windows 10 on Xbox One X
Setting aside business practicalities or priorities, the simple answer is that it's not technically easy to do this in any way. The custom hardware in the Xbox One will not enable it to automatically or easily become a traditional PC that runs the Windows Desktop OS. Phil Spencer even answered something like this recently:Not really. I'm not sure where this is coming from, but MSIX is a new model which enables developers to take apps and games which and package them up for installation and distribution in a different, open-source way. MSIX a runtime model which will magically enable apps and games to run on a brand new platform that they were never developed to run on.

Thread Why doesn't Microsoft just put Windows 10 on Xbox One X
Those are Universal Platform Apps that are already build in mind with the ability to run on Xbox. The suggestion was that traditional Win32 x86/x64 apps would work in the same way, which they won't. MSIX will make it easier to package up existing Win32 apps and bring them to the store, but that won't make those Win32 apps automatically run on different platforms. They'll still run on the same set of platforms they were designed to run on, but can be installed and distributed using MSIX to those platforms.

I don't know what to say dude. It's one of my favorite Switch games from the day it released. Its performance has never been a problem for me in any way which affected me to play the game, including beating it on 0-Cell and getting close on 1-Cell - and no, its performance has never been the reason why I failed a run. They made a bunch of smaller performance improvements in the weeks after release before 1.1, so maybe those are what prevented me from experiencing any issues? Either way, Dead Cells was my favorite Switch game in 2018.

I haven't played the beta yet, but does anyone have a summary of UI / Inventory improvements? I always liked the inventory UI in The Division for the most part, but there were parts of it which were always annoying / confusing / frustrating, especially around weapon attachments. For example, it was a pain in the butt to compare your current weapons to new weapons, because your current weapons had attachments which boosted attributes, and those attachments would go to the new weapons, but the comparison UI didn't have a way of showing any of that.

This includes getting all the achievements. Everyone is welcome, no matter your skill level.

The only thing I'm saying here is that I just don't really understand people who still attack 343 today, over the state of MCC at launch. I know they burned a lot of people - know they burned a lot of people - and they've since profusely apologized countless times and made good on those apologies so they're not just empty words. But here, today, in January of 2019, my question for those who continue to bring up the past still remains:And if some people answer "there's nothing they can ever do", that sucks, but those people shouldn't pretend otherwise like anything Microsoft will ever do will make them happy.

I guess I just have trouble empathizing with the mindset to exclusively focus on the past instead of the present. And it's not because it's Microsoft, I would and do feel the same way about Nintendo, Sony, Valve, EA, Epic, Activision, or any other company in gaming. To those of you in this thread who are focusing on the mistakes of the past instead of celebrating where things are now - what would you propose? What can Microsoft do differently which would ever allow you to forgive those past mistakes? What is left for Microsoft to do with The Master Chief Collection which would enable you to enter a conversation about the game and not bring up "but it took years to fix it"? Is there anything that Microsoft could do to fix things with you? Or is it forever tarnished for you, and you'll just complain forever from here on out no matter what happens going forward? To me it's like Blizzard with Diablo 3, fixing it years after it came out with patches and expansions. Or Nintendo with the Wii U, which didn't really get "fixed" until the Switch. Or EA with Battlefront 2, taking a long time to change how progression works. Or any number of countless other problematic releases which were fixed over time and eventually became great. I choose to celebrate when studios have the ability to fix things, instead of dwelling on the past.

One thing to think about with the weapons is to consider them instead of things you need to hang onto. When you pick up a weapon, you're just getting more ammo of a certain type. You'll have no problem finding "ammo" to replace what you use up, and as you get further through the game, you'll regularly find more and more better stuff which does more damage, has higher durability, and has different characteristics.

I really hope you all enjoy the game. I know the Xbox version is divisive but I honestly love what they did with the UI and how they mapped the mouse and keyboard controls over to gamepads. They didn’t get rid of any of the complexity and I got used to it surprisingly quickly. And thanks to the way the weapons feel, I still enjoy Pubg more than Fortnite and Blackout. To clarify, just because a game is on Xbox and is play anywhere doesn’t mean they have a UWP version read to go. Play anywhere just gives you the ability to play a game on PC and Xbox with one purchase. It doesn’t imply anything about how the game was actually built.

I'm all for shorter seasons - and I probably would've watched all the Marvel series if they were shorter - but I don't know if I buy the idea that the long seasons were entirely on Marvel / Disney instead of Netflix. Orange Is the New Black completely owned by Netflix from what I understand, but that series is also 13 episodes/season and suffers as a result. And not only is each season 13 episodes, each episode is around 60 minutes instead of ~40-45 minutes like network shows. There ends up being tons of bloat as a result.

Thread Phil Spencer: Putting AAA games in Game Pass leads to a significant increase in sales
Rocket League is a tremendous example for this. A great game is not guaranteed to get great sales A game on Game Pass is not guaranteed to be played Putting a game onto Game Pass does not guarantee that it'll increase sales of the game, especially if the game isn't very good. But if you put a game on Game Pass, it makes it much more likely for people to play the game, and if that game happens to be great, then its word of mouth will be even better, which increases the chances of that game's sales going up because you suddenly have far more people talking about how great it is. Who's to say that great word of mouth isn't also selling Game Pass subscriptions? It's about giving people options to play the game and pay for it however suits them best. Some people might want to own it permanently despite it being on Game Pass, others just want to pay $10/month to play it for however long it's available on the subscription.

I don't think it's any secret that Undertale's soundtrack is one of the best in gaming. It's so good that I often want to re-play the game simply so I can hear the soundtrack again in context of the game's events. But while I've appreciated the soundtrack over the last couple of years since I first played Undertale, I never realized just how interconnected all of its are. Sure I recognized recurring themes throughout the game, but thanks to an amazing series of articles, I just learned how much deeper and more thoughtful Toby Fox was in its creation. Part 1 focuses on the different environments, while part 2 focuses on the different characters: These are great, exhaustive pieces which do an incredible job describing in what all of the themes of the game are - both for environments and characters - with a ton of and embedded within. For anyone who's played Undertale, I cannot recommend highly enough that you thoroughly read and listen through these articles.

Yo - just a random thought for you fine folks here since you're probably aching (like me) to play more Undertale and the wait for it is excruciating: The best parts of Undertale and Deltarune for me are the mysterious themes, the open-ended speculation, the incredible music, and an amazingly moving story. To The Moon and its sequel has all of them. I don't think any game has ever affected me as much as the story in To The Moon. The singer at the end of Deltarune also previously composed and sung some songs in To The Moon and its sequel. It doesn't have any alternate endings or a "battle system" or anything - it's just a point and click adventure game - but it'll probably help you fill the gap as you wait for more Undertale goodness to come out. I'm using the at its default tuning settings, and I feel like I'm getting completely and hopelessly outclassed. My other difficulty settings are pretty modest: -ABS On -Normal steering -Traction control on -Stability control off -Shifting automatic -Braking-only driving line -Cosmetic damage -Rewind on I guess I just don't know how to drive properly for tight circuit races like this. I try following the driving line guidance and other cars zoom passed me around corners. I try optimizing faster than the driving line and I skid out. On straightaways everyone passes me. At the beginning of the race everyone passes me. I end up stuck in 6th place or worse and just don't know how to get any better on this. Even if I liberally use rewind after every little mistake it just doesn't help enough. I figure that the default tuning settings for one of the recommended cars for this circuit should be enough for it to be possible to compete, right? Especially since all other cars automatically match the same class? Or could it simply be my car selection and its tuning screwing me over? (which itself would seem strange...) I think what I really need are some beginner tips here or something because otherwise I'm just at a loss. Anyone have any good pointers?

Thread PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds rated for PS4 in Korea
PUBG on Xbox is a ton of fun. I hope people on PS4 enjoy it too. I played ~10 rounds of Blackout and while it's really impressive what they've done - 60fps, seems more polished, the usual XP progression systems, etc. - I still prefer playing PUBG on Xbox instead. I just love the slower pace and the shooting model of PUBG. I've grown to dislike the gunplay of Call of Duty games over the years. Even though TTK is higher than past CoD games, it's still too short for my liking, and I didn't like it too much in Blackout. Additionally, I don't like how pickups and inventory works in Blackout. I'm sure it's just a matter of getting used to things, but all of the guns available in the Blackout beta were a muddled and incomprehensible mess of similar-feeling and indistinguishable shotguns and assault rifles. With PUBG on the other hand, every weapon feels distinct, and it's much easier to tell which guns are better than others for different situations. Then, add to the fact that in Blackout now I need to worry about a number of different pickups my opponents might have, without ever really knowing what they're using, it's just an extra level of complexity I don't want to think about in a Battle Royale game.

So unlike Netflix, Game Pass actually incentivizes permanent ownership after some time. I'm interested to see if Sony does something similar for PS Now.

I played this a bunch at PAX both last year and this year. Probably tried 10-15 different games across both. It's tons of fun! Incredible amount of variety, everything from arcadey golf games to shooters to RPG-lite games and more. Creative combinations of retro-style games with more modern mechanics built into them. For example, there was one shooter I played which had a mechanic where you could lock your aim in one direction and move in another direction. Considering that every game has NES-style graphics and is played with an NES controller - just a d-pad and 2 buttons - the fact that they pulled it off gave it a different feel than what I was used to.

And as someone who owns the game on Xbox One, PS4, Switch, and PC, I'm extremely happy that they chose to prioritize the overhauled progression and all of the other updates they've made this year first instead of prioritizing the X enhancements highly. I mean, it's not like Rocket League is a game that really" needs" enhancements. Thread Why doesn’t the Switch dock have an ethernet port?
I'm basically just saying that "Because Nintendo iz cheap lulz" is a silly answer. I mean yeah, for literally every consumer product ever released in the history of earth, manufacturers will try to save on costs wherever possible, by eliminating features that most people don't need. I'm just saying that in addition to cost savings, it seems like a good design reason to not include ethernet is because it can create a bad experience for people who are using the console how it was intended to be used. Sure there's an ethernet adapter there for people who want it, but it appears to create a bad experience for certain people. But for people who always leave their Switch docked it might be a handy thing. The other thing is that if you include an ethernet jack by default, then it might cause more people to use ethernet even if their wi-fi works perfectly for online gaming. So then Nintendo is basically reinforcing to customers that they use an option that can result in a bad experience even when they don't need to, just because the ethernet jack is there.

Thread Why doesn’t the Switch dock have an ethernet port?
Actual plausible reason: If your Switch needed to change between wi-fi and ethernet every time you docked it and undocked it, it would cause all sorts of negative experiences. Multiplayer games will disconnect and such because you're actively changing IP addresses along the way. For a system that's designed to be docked and undocked at any second no matter what you're playing, it would be a crappy experience if you were disconnected from multiplayer games when you did so. Sure it might *also* be a cost savings thing, but , the vast majority of people will connect to wi-fi anyway, so it seems like a smart design decision for practical purposes too, not just cost savings.

The fact is that the Switch offers me incredible portability for these games that I don't necessarily want to always play on my TV or on a PC. That makes it extremely easy for me to accept some unstable frame rates here and there or lower resolutions. The only thing that matters to me is whether it's still fun to play and whether the performance or visual quality gets in the way of being able to enjoy the games. I still don't have nearly enough ore to build sprinklers, so by the time I'm done manually watering my plants half my energy is gone so I have little left to use in the mines unless I stock up on bars to bring with me. But then I can't make bars because I'm not finding enough ingredients for them. And then that leaves little time for talking to people. Additionally, how do I find out what each person likes? I feel like we all collectively do too much complaining about things. I'd like to turn things positive for a change. I'm really impressed with how Seattle has handled bike shares over the last couple of years. Pronto didn't work, so the city acknowledged it, and instead partnered with Spin, Lime, and Ofo to have their free-roaming bike shares implemented instead. They started small, and at this point all three companies are collectively limited to 10,000 bikes around the city. Lime seems to be the most popular by far, probably because of the electric-assisted bikes they've added more recently. People in the city seem to love using them all over the place, and now as people are used to them, there are far fewer instances of them being left in the wrong places. The city has been really responsible in preventing these things from getting out of hand. The doubling to 20,000 bikes is only happening soon, after a long period of experimentation and study of 10,000 bikes. In the meantime, cities in California and other states are getting swarmed with scooters. Scooters everywhere. Zero regulation about who's allowed to put scooters on the streets, how many there are, or how they should be handled. But they're not in Seattle at all, at least not yet - and it has to be because the city is responsibly working with companies like Lime (which do have scooters elsewhere) to roll them out in a more controlled way. Especially while they were setting up the Lane kidnapping - the fast-paced drums synced up with the helicopter rotor sounds! Such a cool detail. I also loved how the movie handled Julia. From her instant willingness to help Luther, to her speech at the end. What an awesome way to give her agency and purpose even though she was a relatively minor character in the movie. For example, when you make software and websites accessible to screen readers, you're not just making it easy for people who need screen readers. You're also making it easier for text-to-speech to work if you want to listen to those articles as an automatically-generated podcast. You're making it easier for web browser "Reading mode" features to work. Heck, you're even making it easier on yourself as an app/web developer because making something accessible to a screen reader ends up making it easier to segment and organize the data you're presenting.

I love that this finale was everything that I hoped for yet nothing I expected. The scene with Stan and the Jennings was just incredible. I also loved Paige's decision in the end - she finally stood up for herself and made a decision to control her own life. There's nothing for her in Russia, and she's willing to face the risks of staying back in the US even if she might get in trouble with the FBI. Also: I get why no one hurt or killed each other in the garage. Sure, Philip and Elizabeth were ruthless killers throughout the series, but they were always doing so because they thought they were fighting for what's best for their country. By the last episode, that excuse was no longer there. Before that, they would kill for their country and/or for self-preservation, but at that final moment in the garage, their only excuse for killing would be for self-preservation, and it would utterly destroy Paige and Henry along the way. In addition to Stan, who's genuinely their friend.

That's not in character with the show at all. I'm expecting the show to end on a muted and more ambiguous note, much like the entire show has been so far. I doubt there will be any big revelations or deaths of major characters. It'll instead focus on the relationships which go up in flames, and perhaps even Stan and others remaining suspicious without any conclusive proof in the end.

I don't expect to get a commercial-free experience while watching the show for free of course, but I was willing to pay for a month or two of DirectTV Now or SlingTV at ~$30-35/month to watch The Americans and a couple other shows. But I forgot that even in the world of paying a lot of money for cable it still comes with ads, regardless of whether it's through Comcast or an over-the-top service like these. Plunked down $25 to just buy the season pass outright. Started watching with no ads immediately. Ahhhhhhhhhh

Even with plastic straws, using them with hot drinks is a really stupid idea. It's extremely dangerous to slurp up hot drinks with a straw, and Starbucks will not give you a straw with any hot drinks today. Yes, I'm absolutely serious. Disabled customers and others with any sort of special needs undoubtedly make up a significant portion of Starbucks' customer base. Big corporations like Starbucks regularly use consultants who know how to design their stores and systems specifically to ensure that customers with all sorts of different special needs can easily navigate their stores, buy their merchandise, and use their products. The idea that Starbucks would institute such a massive change across the world, and take those customers into consideration, is extremely unlikely.

I have absolutely no insight into this specific listing or anything anyone is doing from either company to fix this if it needs to be fixed. But usually publishers are entirely in control of what they publish, where they publish it, and when. Most storefronts offer tools to developers to configure exactly what they want to configure. So if this listing is a mistake, then it comes down to whether it was a mistake that Nordic themselves made, or whether it was a mistake someone at Microsoft made, before deciding what happens next or if anyone should be compensated for anything.

The nature of software - especially unfinished software in preview - is that your experience can vary substantially from those of others due to a variety of circumstances. Whether because of which Xbox device you're using, or whether you're on Ethernet vs. Wi-Fi, or where you are in the world, or which servers you're connecting to, or how strong and fast of a connection you have, or otherwise. It's legitimately possible for you to be 100% correct about your impressions while other people are 100% correct about never having significant problems with bullets failing to register when you shoot someone. If it's so bad for you that you consider it broken, even considering its Preview state, that really sucks, and I hope you've asked Customer Service for a refund. Or I hope it improves for you soon. But I personally have played for 15-20 hours now including getting one 1st place finish after 9 kills in a single round, and while I certainly have issues now and then with unnaturally low frame rates or rubber banding, I can confidently say I've never once experienced an issue where I clearly shot someone and that shot didn't register.

Couple follow-up questions: 1) Could it be that megabits vs. megabytes is what you're seeing? Megabits is what the UI shows for speed (mb/sec) since that's how ISPs advertise, while the download size is shown in megabytes (capital-MB) since that's the common notation for size. So if you're downloading at a speed of 60mb/sec that translates to 7.5 MB/sec in download size. I believe the PS4 and Steam both show MB/sec instead of mb/sec. 2) If that's not the issue, which UI surface are you looking at - the Games & Apps collection and download queue, or the store itself on a particular game's description page? They all pull from the same underlying data but there could be a display bug hiding somewhere in one or both of them. 3) Finally, which games are you seeing it with? All or just some? With that info I can follow up with some people to see if there are any known issues around download speed display.

The workaround to this particular issue is to just let it do its thing and wait a few minutes.

Since you are a part of the preview program, I assume that you have held the home button and reported feedback for each of these issues? Because if you're complaining about problems like this but you haven't reported these issues, why did you even opt-in to the preview program in the first place?

If you think you are missing a feature that you are supposed to have - features released to the public at this point, not just available to Insiders - that's a good complaint to bring to Xbox Support and also continue filing feedback with the Insider program. It could be that your Insider / preview build membership is screwing with variables which don't affect retail users, for example a service-side configuration made for your account because you're in preview builds.

Part of testing a new OS release includes identifying regressions as new features are introduced. If your system is getting progressively worse, please be sure to report that feedback in the same way you'd report any other bug.

The fat from the pork shoulder certainly helped, but I did shave off a lot of the excess fat from the shoulder before putting it in the pot. Bacon fat always makes things better though so why not? Also, a little more fish sauce than 1TBSP is better.

Last night, I tried this recipe which someone recommended earlier in the thread: It was unbelievably good and so easy! Literally just chop stuff up, plop it all right into the pressure cooker, cook for 30 minutes, blend the veggies, done.

How do you guys measure the right amount of water to add to rice after rinsing the rice? The rinse adds a bunch of water already so I'm never super confident about how much more water to add on top of that water the rice already retained.

It's time for a brief discussion on ! For whatever reason, it seems like these recipes are all over the place. Some recipes recommend twice as much time as others. I'm very close to sea level so the conditions aren't out of the ordinary. For example, says 4 minutes for soft-boiled eggs, 5 minutes for hard-boiled eggs, at high pressure. But when I tried those timings I ended up getting eggs where the whites aren't solid at all. The entire thing was just a gooey mess inside including the non-solid whites. After much experimentation and browsing, I finally found this which worked perfectly: 1 cup of water, 12 minutes, low pressure, drop in an ice bath when done. Perfect eggs!

I don't know if anything further is being announced about BC, but remember that there is a new episode of Inside Xbox tomorrow so there could be some cool BC-related stuff there.

Gears of War 2 and 3 are awesome in co-op on the couch. Left 4 Dead 2 is pretty great too. There are also classics like Castle Crashers, though that has a native Xbox One remaster. Some other notable mentions: Check this out: Filter by "couch co-op" and sort by reviews! I don't think their "Xbox One compatible" list is up to date though, because Monaco is BC but doesn't show up in their BC list.

I'm amused by how confused everyone seemed to be about what Fast Start is and how it works :-P It's not about resuming games from suspended mode, it's about how soon you can play the game when downloading it for the first time.

Thread Microsoft please fix your patch sizes
On Xbox One, all game and OS updates will automatically download in standby. If you're not seeing that happen - and you're not in Preview, where things work a little differently - feel free to reach out to Xbox Support or even just DM me any time and I can pass along a note so we can get to the bottom of it. Again - things are often different if you're in preview. When you're in the preview program, updates aren't just released more frequently, there is also a shorter amount of time between the update's release and the time in which it is pushed to everyone and you need to install it before using your console. And while I know this thread is about game patch sizes, not just OS updates, they do affect each other because if you're installing OS updates more frequently, it means that there is less opportunity to automatically download the game updates in the background.

I forgot that Goliath season 1 was only 8 episodes. Hearing that season 2 is also only 8 episodes is probably what will push me to watching it sooner rather than later. I'm sick of streaming shows (and TV shows in general) being too long for their own good.

I mean, I get *why* lists like this exist, and why TV networks do what they do, but even just the of scheduled TV is so foreign to me these days that I forgot that millions of people still actually watch TV when they're live on the air. TV for me has been "pick that thing up off the DVR when it shows up" for so long that I don't even know what time most shows I watch come on. At most I remember the day.

The Expanse is a show about a relatively near-future where humans have colonized Mars and a few other areas of the solar system. All of the technology used in the show is very realistic, there's no "warp drive" or anything like that in the show which conveniently solves transportation problems, and it mostly revolves around the political machinations of three primary groups of people:New discoveries throw the tepid balance between the three factions out of whack, and people get caught up in things they don't understand. But the way they handle technology in the show, political movements, dialog between characters, and other areas is extremely well written and really refreshing compared to so many other shows.

I wonder where The Handmaid's Tale fits in those charts? Think about what happened between season 1 and season 2 in real life. It probably makes people less eager to watch the show.

Yeah, I really don't understand their strategy around when they air episodes. It's so Season 5 was pretty normal, but starting in season 6: Season 7 was a little better, but look at season 8 so far:

I think it's more of a need for Brooker to work with some more people on ideas and scripts to prevent the next season from getting too homogeneous. The "Cookie" stories are getting a little played-out.

I can only speak for myself of course, but I personally think that the CW's promotions are absurdly terrible. My wife and I watch only a few shows on the CW - Penn & Teller: Fool Us, Whose Line is it Anyway, and Crazy Ex Girlfriend. Whenever we're watching those shows and ads come on for other CW shows, they all look . Even something like Jane The Virgin which I hear is great but I've never watched is advertised horribly. But the superhero shows especially are just so unappealing in every way they're advertised. The acting looks like crap. The story lines the ads try to promote all seem cliched and overwrought. The effects they show look absurdly cheap and laughable. And the editing and music which pulls them all together makes them seem like they're pulled straight out of two decades ago. I completely acknowledge that these shows might be good. I'm only speaking about how they're promoted and what my wife and I think every single time we see ads for them. Superhero fatigue from endless Marvel/DC movies doesn't really help either. And I'm sure other people think the exact same thing about Crazy Ex Girlfriend, considering its terrible live viewership ratings. So the CW is not doing itself any favors.

Orphan Black had a slump toward too much mythology in the middle but the final season and especially the series finale are excellent all the way.

The only HDMI issue I (thought I) had on my Xbox One X is when I would start getting flashes of static every time I tried to watch Netflix, HBO Go, or anything else which activated HDCP. But then it turned out to be a problem with my receiver, not my Xbox at all. And simply power cycling my receiver fixed it. So it might be worth checking on whether your receiver is acting up too.

I think it simply depends on what you use more. I like my PS4, but I honestly believe the UI is one of the worst parts of it. Managing my game collection is a pain in the butt, it's never clear to me which games are installed vs. which are in my library but not installed, and installing stuff from my library takes way too many clicks and screen transitions. Then there's the settings UI. I still don't get why downloads and updates are buried under "settings" so I always forget where to look. Settings themselves are really difficult to navigate. Friends lists, chat UI, and adding friends is just "off" to me and I'm not used to how to do it, and on and on. I'm sure I'd get used to everything if I used it more, but in its current incarnation, the Xbox One UI is absolutely fantastic IMO. Especially what the team did with the guide.
