I love Remote Play. I use it on my MacBook Pro. It was a game changing feature for me as I use it when my wife wants to watch TV or when I travel. My PS4 is in my appartment in Paris and I've used Remote Play in other parts of France, in the United States, Canada and Japan. It's awesome.

Thread Sonic The Hedgehog Review Thread [Embargo lifts on 2/12/2020 at 10 PM PST]
I've seen the movie last week and I can talk about it freely (embargo lifted at midnight French time for me). It isn't a bad movie but it isn't great either. We've seen far worse video game movies. But it's clearly a kids movie with a very simple story. Jim Carrey is in full "The Mask/Ace Ventura mode" and we hadn't seen him like this in a while. There a few funny jokes in there for adults but kids will clearly enjoy it the most. And stay during the credits, there is a mid-credits scene.

There is one right at the end of the movie (we saw a glimpse of it in one of the trailers) and one mid-credits as far as I've seen. I didn't stay until the very end of the credits so I don't know if you meant that there is another one at the end of the credits.

Thread What Game/Character Name Mispronunciation irks you?
I understand how accents work. As I am not a native English speaker, there are tons of words that I don’t pronounce correctly (and believe me, Americans never run out of ways to show you that they don’t understand your accent). What I meant was that Ubisoft is a French company founded by French people. The company was founded as “Ubisoft” it’s simple really. Another example. 99% of French people say “Diss nay” instead of “Deeznee” when we talk about Disney. And those of us who speak English know that it’s not the correct way to pronounce it.

Thread What Game/Character Name Mispronunciation irks you?
When English-speaking people say “Youbisoft” instead of Ubisoft or when they call Lara Croft “Laura.” As for French people, they mispronounce so many things, there are too many to list! Two exemples: Some say “Metal Jeere” instead of “Metal Gear” or “CasTuhlvahnia” instead of “Castlevania.”

Thread What Game/Character Name Mispronunciation irks you?
One of Ubisoft’s founders said that one of the Guillemot Brothers made up the word “Ubi” and thought that it sounded good. The “ubiquitous” part came later. Besides, “ubiquité” in French isn’t pronounced “youbiquité.” So it’s not “Youbisoft.” I’ve been to Ubi’s French headquarters a number of times and nobody ever says “Youbisoft.”

I think a lot of people don’t get what Yu Suzuki was trying to do with Shenmue III’s stamina system. It’s part of his quest for realism and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was something that he already wanted to add back in the Dreamcast games. Ryo isn’t in the best of shape at first and he must eat to keep going. But he has no money so he has to work. And in order to get better and have more stamina, he has to train regularly. Yu Suzuki probably wanted to get players to eat and work everyday. And once you level-up your stamina enough, you only have to eat once every day.

Jim Sterling's factually wrong when it comes to the funding of the game (and a few other subjects as well). That's what you get when you take unsubstantiated claims and rumors and state them as facts. As I said in another topic, Epic's money didn't go towards the game's development from what I've heard. It went to Deep Silver.

It's a a sad situation but who expected Shenmue III to set the world on fire sales-wise? If making Shenmue III made business sense, we wouldn't have had to back the game on Kickstarter. Besides, there were controversies from day one and the game's marketing following that was pretty lackluster. Almost everything that could have gone wrong did. Even though I kept hoping for good sales, I was pretty much expecting things to go the way they did. I still believe that we'll get Shenmue IV. But I'm curious to see how things will go.

Thread Shenmue III |OT| Our Destiny Since Ancient Times
I think we'll get Shenmue IV and I don't think it'll go the Kickstarter route because it wouldn't go as well as the first time and that'd be pretty humiliating for everyone involved. I couldn't get my hands on the French sales numbers but it looks like they weren't so hot. What we need to try and keep an eye on are the game's numbers in China. Those could help. DLC sales could also help. And we also need to keep in mind that Shenmue III's budget wasn't nearly as big as I & II's. So that'll probably help as well.

I played the game a bunch last week at the London preview event and it was a mess. There were so many game breaking bugs it was crazy. At one point during a match, the whole screen went black except for the HUD and the match kept going. One of the Towers was unplayable as the "8-bit filter" was on and the camera was zoomed in on a corner of the ring. You couldn't see anything. Another thing I noticed is that the "Bump in the Night" DLC story mode was clearly written for Matt Hardy and not Bray Wyatt. The action takes place at the "Wyatt Compound" and when Bray does commentary he talks like Matt Hardy and says "wonderful" every two sentences.

It, unfortunately, won't really take off in the West as long as they keep refusing to add subtitles in languages other than English. Chosing to add an English dub instead of French/Spanish/German/Italian subtitles clearly show where they stand. They used to say that they wouldn't start localizing Yakuza games because people would have missed some sequels and thus be confused. But seeing that Judgment is a brand new IP, that excuse doesn't stand anymore. It was the perfect opportunity to add other languages.

Thread Yakuza 3 Remaster Information/Interview From Producer Daisuke Sato
I wasn't talking about the number of Xbox One sold in Japan. But everywhere else. Besides, only 3 million Wii U were ever sold in Japan. The console was released in December 2012 and Yakuza 1 & 2 HD Wii U was released on August 8th 2013. So I truly believe that saying that Yakuza games wouldn't sell on other platforms because 1 & 2 HD didn't sell on the Wii U in Japan is wrong on a few levels.

Saying that it wouldn't work on Xbox because it didn't work on Wii U (a console that didn't sell) is an awful argument. Besides, it was an HD port of PS2 games. Not the best choice to test the waters, even in Japan.

To be fair, I don't think Sato-san said that the Switch isn't a good fit for the Yakuza series because 1 & 2 HD failed on the Wii U. He mentionned the Wii U game only because I mentionned it in my question (I was only using it as an example of a Yakuza game being released on a non-Sony console). He does seem to think that the Switch isn't a good fit for the Yakuza series. But for other reasons.

There are a few newsworthy bits: -Kazuma won't disappear completely and we may see him again someday. -They're often asked about a City Hunter Yakuza spin-off. Daisuke Sato thinks that even though City Hunter also takes place in Shinjuku, the characters don't fit in a Yakuza game as well Hokuto no Ken's do. -Daisuke Sato would love to create Binary Domain 2. The decision rests in SEGA's hands though. -When I asked if we'll see Shun Akiyama again, Daisuke Sato was pretty coy about it and answered: "why not." There are a few fun bits in the interview. If one of you guys want to quote parts of it on your website, go ahead, but please make sure to give credit to Gameblog.

Those topics are: -Ishin -Yakuza 3, 4 and 5 Remasters -The PC ports (I've been told that the Japanese team has nothing to do with those). That's too bad but it is what it is.

I’d love to get localized versions of Kenzan and Ishin. But they’ve made it clear time and time again that there are no plans to localize them. I think we should get over it and be glad that we now get the new games so fast. Besides, I don’t think that it would make sense to release those games now.

During my first (and so far only) trip to Japan back in December 2015 a few fellow journalists and I ended up Kabukichô by luck. Thanks to the Yakuza games, I showed everybody around even though it was my first time there (took everybody to the batting center). Realizing that I was about to see Yakuza's real life locations was quite a trip. It was during the day and we never felt in danger. There was just one old dude who stopped us and used some hand gestures to ask us if we were looking for sex but other than that (and the sometimes explicit shops) it was as if we were in any other neighborhood.

I still hope that the game will be released in Europe and America.

It was probably the Plat that took me the longest in part because I made some mistakes along the way (like opening lockers with Haruka and doing my first run on Hard thinking that it would also unlock the Normal Trophy). Having to finish all the Coliseum with all 4 characters also took a very long time. It took so long that I stopped playing Yakuza 5 for more than a year. At one point I almost thought that I would never get Yakuza 5's Plat.

As the father of a 5 month old girl, the Haruto stuff hit me pretty hard in Yakuza 6. The karaoke song "Hands" that you unlock after finishing the main story almost made me tear up. The Yakuza team really doesn't get the credit it deserves in the West. I already posted this in the Yakuza 6 discussion thread but I also wanted to say it here.

Very interesting read, thanks! Yakuza 3 is one of my favorites because of the orphanage stuff. I think that it added a lot of depth to Kiryu as a character. And also because it rang true with stuff I’ve been told about growing up in an orphanage. That being said, I finished my first Yakuza 6 play through today. It took me more than 50 hours (I did all the substories, all the Clan Creator missions and Clan Creator-related Trophies, all the baseball games, and a lot of elements from the completion list). I have 88% of the Trophies, I’m just missing the Legend difficulty Trophy and the “Peak Kiryu” Trophy (get him to Level 300). It took me a lot less time to get this far than in previous episodes.

Just got Yakuza 6’s Platinum Trophy. Clearly the series’ easier Platinum to get. Took me 58 hours total. No Trophy was frustrating to get and I enjoyed the experience from beginning to end. Pro tip: make sure that Kiryu’s stats are almost maxed out before you start your Legend run. That way, it’ll be a walk in the park, even without the Golden Gun (which isn’t in the game).

Today, I asked Yu Suzuki what he thinks about Yakuza. I hope to get the full translation of his answer soon but the gist of it is that he is proud of Nagoshi’s work and glad SEGA and not another company is continuing to make that specific kind of open world games (proof that I was with Yu Suzuki: ) I thought that his answer was very classy. He seems to like Nagoshi. I think I heard him call him “Nagoshi-kun” but I’ll have to check my audio file.

I finally got the 100% Completion Trophy yesterday! Now I just have to do a Normal run (which shouldn't give me any trouble) and I'll finally get Yakuza 5's Platinum Trophy. Quite frankly, I thought that Akiyama and Shinada's Coliseum Fights would give me much more of a hard time. But I'm glad I'm done with them! Now I just have to be strong enough to stay away from Yakuza 6 in order to finish up with Yakuza 5.

I beat them using one of the special "fish spears" (I don't remember which one) which Shinada luckily still had on him from my first playthrough. I'm glad I won't have to do that again. Done with the Akiyama Coliseum fights! Only Shinada’s left. I just found out that I haven’t chosen the right upgrades during my original playthroughs so I don’t have the ability to regain some health in exchange for heat. So I had to beat the Komakis in order to be able to go to Level 25. That was a pain as I don’t like Shinada’s fighting style. Now I have to go up two more levels in order to unlock the health regen ability. 99.40% completion. I hope it won’t take me too long to finish up.

It's a song played on the radio (when you play bowling in 0 and Kiwami for example) and it's just kinda basic guitar riffs. I would like to get the chance to hear a clearer version without the background noise.
