Thread Bloodborne came out five years ago
2nd or 3rd favorite game of all time... Still holding out hope for more, a sequel, a sidequel, late additional DLC, anything! If it comes out for PC, getting it. If it comes out enhanced for PS5, getting it. Played through it 5 times now, and just "accidentally" redownloaded it again.

Thread The Final Fantasy series needs a core gameplay identity again
Feels like there's a lack of agreed-upon terms in this discussion from the start. My take on FF is that it IS a core identity that it changes things up per numbered iteration. Even then, clearly, there are entries post IX that have both similar and dissimilar gameplay designs, ranging from massively different to very similar. X and XIII share many gameplay similarities, but likewise just as stark differences, however some of those differences are where XIII and XV intersect. XI and XIV are both MMORPGs but have pretty dramatic gameplay style differences, whereas XI and XII are an online title and a single player title but share similar battle and engagement systems. Sure they're not as famously marketed as ATB which makes IV-IX seem cut from the same cloth, but seem to have just as many similarities and differences as those games did, entry after entry. Where I stand, what the OP is asking for has already happened sometimes since, and probably will happen again, but depending on how you selectively interpret the similarities and differences between titles may not get recognized--especially from fans who still refer to IV-IX as the "golden age". Feels like dismissal based on nostalgia.

Thread In the present time, only independent developers seem to consider games as an art form
The people who come up with the idea for a game want to create Art The people who pitch the idea to publishers want to make Art The people who work at the publisher want to work on Art and promote Art The people who make the game want to make Art The people who support the game want to support Art They all also want to be paid for a living to work with this Art Sometimes a project looks like it won’t make enough money to let people be paid, while something else looks more likely to do that. There’s uncertainty in everything at some point or another whether or not it will be finished, make the money spent on it back (all games are investments in time and most often money in advance), and sometimes this results in decisions people attribute to being greed based or counter to the artistic vision. Even tons of “indie” games often cost millions of dollars to make and to put in that investment without even a plan of how to make it back would be so irresponsible to everyone involved. You don’t have to like every game design decision, no one asks you to, and you should sincerely speak your mind on that—but even your modified OP is naive and insulting to the point of personal frustration. Everyone in this industry works so hard and I’ve never met this soulless creator everyone props up when a game comes out they don’t like.

Thread Why do games which pride themselves on intense gameplay have garbage frame-rates?
Obviously a lot of people disagree here with the basic premise you've laid out. Lots of games have great framerate but most people don't like their gameplay. I love soulsborne games, and don't mind the framerate really at all, and I likewise love the gameplay.

Thread bloodborne is the top 5th ps4 exclusive of the generation. where is the sequel?
I mean that's an awesome point. I love the base game, and it doesn't DLC for me to think that, but man did that DLC deliver. Why wouldn't a sequel be the same? Frankly, I was always a bit disappointed it didn't have more DLC even, considering how much I enjoyed the DLC for Souls

Thread bloodborne is the top 5th ps4 exclusive of the generation. where is the sequel?
While I have no doubt that Miyazaki is a powerful influence on the success of FROM titles or FROM-started/led franchises, I have less doubt than most on a game failing to live to its potential if he doesn't have his hand on all points. I've seen just as many brilliant people behind-the-scenes in development without their names in the PR sheet make a game a success to worry far less about this scenario. I also don't worry about his involvement, and pretty confident he'd be directly and intimately involved in sequels. That said, I echo the sentiment others shared though about seeing Elden Ring through and doing a sequel when the desire is strongest among the team, but I still think it'll happen and excited for it.

Thread bloodborne is the top 5th ps4 exclusive of the generation. where is the sequel?
This sentiment is so wrong-headed imo. Nothing about any of this is , but a sequel could (and likely would) be great, so why bemoan the request? Heck, sometimes sequels are better than the original, even of beloved titles and franchises. Why end something when it can be expanded or improved? This industry risk more than not, so I say go for it and blow our minds! I anxiously await the inevitable Bloodborne sequel, with whatever they end up doing with it, and I have no doubt it'll be really great.

Thread Top 3 Games of the Decade
MGSV - best gameplay, reasons to come back and play more, multiplayer, felt like one of the few revolutionary games. It respects player intelligence, giving them a perfect playground, and letting creativity generate breathtaking scenarios that made me feel like the ultimate soldier. Then moments later made me question the very nature of that exercise. I can’t name a game that’s come out since that has topped it in any of the things it set out to do. It’s a bonafide masterpiece. Bloodborne - the biggest surprise for me at the time. It was like fresh air to the action genre and at the same time a more inspired homage to games that came before. The first game where I felt true terror and HAD to still turn that next corner to see what else it had to offer. Breath of the Wild - a beautiful, intensely immersive world that constantly held new secrets, everywhere! Many of those secrets felt intimate and hand-crafted and likewise built and tested extensively with systems that beg for creative play. Amazing title through and through. in that order (breaking that rule) I’ll respect the rule about honorable mentions but also to say there were dozens of games that are very close to these. It’s been an amazing decade of games.

Thread TLOU or Bloodborne, which is the better Sony game?
IMO Bloodborne, and it’s not even close. TLOU is a good game that’s not in my top 25 of games from the last 10 years. Bloodborne is in my top 5 games of all time.

It’s a small game but I thought Kholat did a great job both with tense moments and genuine “lost my way” design, especially since the goal at the beginning is “find these different coordinates”

Thread MGS3's 'The End' boss fight is a Kojima masterclass in game design
He was the easiest boss for me in MGS3 whereas the first time I fought Quiet, I was stymied with her difficulty. I love both fights but always found it strange anyone had difficulty with him. It was a cool fight but never seemed even a little hard to me.

Thread Looking Back, MGSV was the biggest waste of potential in the series.
Yup. I "get" the disappointment in that I understand the words the OP wrote, but its a hard disagree with every one of them. Best World, Best Encounters, Best Gameplay, Best Missions, and I thought the story was second only to MGS3 for me. Best MG Game IMO. I have over 3k hours in The Phantom Pain alone, and I could easily replay it dozens of times more.

Thread VG247: "Game developers, it’s time to stop listening to the fans"
Wrote this in the comments: Hyperbole or not, "stop listening to fans" just isn't good advice. The best part of this article is the comment that game development is not well understood. That is improving with the ease of access to game development technology but similar to film-making it probably won't ever get completely understood by a mass audience who likewise want to critique it. I think the better advice (and the better headline) is: Developers: listen to fans the right way. You could have used this as a teachable moment to encourage more studios, publishers, and IP holders to hire community managers, and community teams, and conduct responsible sentiment analysis and digest their feedback from players/fans in a constructive and mutually beneficial way. The idea that fans should never be listened to because some developers buckled to poor feedback or didn't properly align the expectations of their product with the market needs, is misguided.

Thread If you could go back in time to undo one game company merger/closure/change in ownership, what would it be?
"only to release like two decent rpgs in the last 15 years" What? Skipped dozens of also great titles for brevity. Not to mention any western output. Ignoring almost the entire KH series which is also great. Considering the output likewise became 5x what they once had, there's bound to be a few you don't like, but come on...two?

Thread Rewatched first Guardians of The Galaxy - I changed my opinion - Captain Marvel sucks (Spoilers)
Loved it, been saying I want to go back to the theatres to see it again. Like many have said, it had quiet subtley in parts, and bombastic action in others and the lead-up and wind-downs felt natural and earned. It felt like a different kind of film the MCU doesn't normally do likewise which is just what I would expect from these films now, a diversity of direction and style, and I got it in spades. Also for people like my wife who normally doesn't enjoy any Marvel films, it was a breath of fresh air, and for people like my daughter, it was inspiring and encouraging. Of course, everyone has different opinions on things, but I couldn't be much more pleased with how Captain Marvel turned out. One other thing, what's with all the dumping on Ant-Man??? That movie was awesome and one of my top MCU films. Doesn't have to be your favorite but bottom tier? Get outta here with that nonsense.

Thread Should Zero Suit Samus get her own game? If she did, what would it play like?
If you’re an adult looking at the character maybe, sure. But when you’re a kid, i think it’s more personally identifying. My daughter liked playing as Samus in the suit in Smash but when she learned that ZSS was the same person, she liked the character more and would point out how it’s sometimes cool to play without the suit. Reminds me of when I was a kid and would play He-Man and Prince Adam toys with different motives. I definitely don’t think my daughter would like the character as much if it was just a suited person. She prefers knowing a character is male or female and often picks female characters when the opportunity presents itself more clearly.

I voted for 3 but I can point out the inaccurate presentation of 5 in the OP to make it a little more fair:Forgot to list: Venom vs Sahelanthropus, Ending with Skullface, Hueys Exhile, Quarantine Ending. I’d put 5 at number 2 best ending for me. Also no PW? PW had awesome ending(s)

In Closed Beta and on Early Access Day One it'll be an attachment system, similar to guns, where you can add things like different tires, doors, protective armor, spiked bumpers, jump jets, boost jets, extra trunk storage, extra fuel tank storage and do repairs on it. Later in Early Access we'll have a more robust vanity customization system with decals, paint choices, different vanity pieces you can attach, and more. Likewise that's just the first vehicle.

Thread Has Hollow Knight dethroned Super Metroid/SotN in the public eye?
I think Hollow Knight is a great game, but I don't think its even the best contemporary Metroidvania...let alone beats the best in the genre. Axiom Verge is a better game imo.
