Thread Dusk Golem: RE8 in 2021, cross-gen, was formerly Revelations 3
That's not RE anymore though. Why not turn the series into a RPG while we're at it. Capcom is just clueless. They have a well-received remake (RE2) and basically say fuck no we're going back to FPS despite the success of TPS. Sorry but Ethan is also the most useless character in the series. A rock would have more personality than him. The way RE8 is being described just makes me laugh. Witches? Paranormal? Did they hire Kojima for the nonsensical plot? I don't mind change. At the same time, toi must pay respect to your past. RE is about survival and zombies. If I want psychological horror there are plenty of series that fill such a gap.

Thread Can the world return to relative normality before a COVID-19 vaccine is created?
My guess is to avoid economic collapse, businesses reopen in Mid-April like Trump has said. Millions more will become infected. This will be seen as normal, at least in America. As long as the DOW keep going, millions of deaths will be fine to the rich/elite. The new normal will be to get infected and have a good enough immune system to survive the virus.

Dusk Golem knew. He tried to warn us and keep our expectations in check. Honestly I always felt the game wouldn't live up to classic RE3. Not without the core team from RE2. The cuts suck and the retcons are laughable. I hope reviewers show Capcom this is not how you do a remake after RE2. A game that has its fair share of problems mind you.

I work in the Health sector. Why do I get nothing + become potentially exposed to the virus? I get it, we chose. Still, floating a $2-3 hourly raise and seeing overtime go from 1.5x to 2x your wage does not seem worth it (these measures have yet to be added btw). I already consider myself underpaid at around $20/hour. And others have it even worse. Give us the recognition we need, not just nurses/doctors/etc. Edit: I wanted to add the $2K/month is almost what I make after taxes. So people will be better off not working than me. My problem isn't with the emergency fund. They should make it universal so essential employees aren't forgotten.

Thread LTTP : Grim Dawn
Why did you choose Microsoft’s console for Grim Dawn? Are there any chances to see it on other platforms such as PlayStation 4 or Nintendo Switch? A big part of it is that it’s easier to port from PC to the Xbox. It helped that Microsoft was very interested in the port and helped us get set up initially. Sony contacted us initially, but communication broke down so we prioritized the Xbox. Whether we do other console ports in the future remains to be seen, but for now, our focus is on the Xbox.

At this point there's nowhere to go but down. People are locked down with no cash, businesses are closed and the virus is far from contained. All your trillions can't save an economy which is crashing hard. I hate to be a "doomer" but honestly I can't see how the market will rebound short-term. In fact what's needed is a vaccine. Everything is closed until the end of the month here. Ramifications of COVID-19 will be felt for MONTHS, maybe even longer. Everything is delayed (movies, sports, etc.) or cancelled. Small business owners are going broke fast. Even with bailouts it won't be enough because rent/taxes/loss of income won't be paid for.

I found myself rushing through the last few hours because the game overstayed its welcome IMO. I wonder how much sway they have in the development of PSO2. In my opinion, close to none. Like, how can they improve the game if it's being developed by Sega Japan? I remember old PSO games had horrible lag in terms of content (i.e. getting everything late or not at all). My biggest gripe with the closed beta? I've never had so many in a beta environment. Try to identify an item at the tekker? Crash. Teleport to the playing area? Crash. I've had so many I stopped counting'em. They really need to fix that before release, it's embarassing for a 7+ years game. Otherwise I think the game is a bit too fast, but that's not fixable until PSO3. Some combos just melt through mobs and bosses. It lowered my appreciation if the Urgent Quests when you had so many overpowered characters dealing thousands of damage per second.

Thread 10+ Years Relationship Ended and I Feel Like Shit
I know I'm not the first nor the last to whom it will happen, but 2 weeks ago my girlfriend of the past 11 and a half years broke up with me. I debated on whether or not I should create this thread but ultimately thought it's a good coping mechanism. I feel like my world is crumbling around me. We have a house together and a dog. She wants to keep both (and rebuy my house share). I have mixed feelings of sadness and anger. Part of me wants to sell the house (probably as misguided vengeance) and the other knows it would be better for my ex to keep it. My problem is all the consequences are on me: moving, finding somewhere to live, downgrading from suburban lifestyle, etc. I've been with this girl for ~1/3 of my life. Now, we barely talk. She said she just wasn't happy anymore... feels like a BS reason to me but what do I know. Also said we no longer share the same interests, etc. I guess time is the only solution. But it stings a lot and I'm not sure how I'll rebound. The mere idea of having to date another girl and basically redo everything from scratch feels bad...

Things change sure, but I was legit being more expressive and caring. About a month ago we had a serious talk and she expressed some issues she had with our couple. I took steps to fix said issues but I think it was already too late. My main gripe is how I think said issues are fixable. But I can't make her love me if she no longer have any feelings for me. A lot of the scripted events in RE7 felt cheap, even moreso on repeat playthroughs. I get that it's scarier and more immersive, but RE4 wouldn't be the same in FPS. I'll be writing about the game as my Kickstarter of the month, it's that cool. I already love the soundtrack and it's super early. I'll be honest though: there's so much going on (mechas, AIRSHIP battles+customization, secrets, tag teaming, etc.) that I fear this project might be too much for ONE dev. I kinda wish publishers would swoop these projects to ensure they get proper funding/workforce and see a universal release on PC and consoles. Although that would also come with compromises and a lack of freedom so I can understand sticking to being indie.

Even though I really wanted to work in the gaming industry, its poor working conditions ultimately led me on another path. Baiscally, if you want to work in the gaming industry as a dev, you have to forfeit most of your personal life. It's especially true with AAA development. The insane expectations set by publishers also mean you can't afford one bad title (unless you're Bioware it seems). Execs know people who work on games are passionate about their craft and use that as a lever to push for unpaid extra hours, 16 hours shift and more. No hobby is worth that cost IMO.

Do you think the reason why they don't include more retro games in Club Sega (esp. considering Sega has a huge pile of IPs) linked to licensing? I mean I love the Yakuza series, but it always feels weird to only have 2-3 games, and not the best either. I feel like they could include much more. Having something like Streets of Rage would fit thematically, maybe even Virtua Cop. Something as simple as ChuChu Rocket! would also work well. It always feels like an afterthought, which is a bit disappointing. I'd take one more quality arcade game rather than batting for instance. I'm glad people seem to love Y7, I can't wait for the localized version in the West. Seems like a very fun game.

Ocarina of Time: 1998 Majora's Mask: 2000 Two games considered to be masterpieces within 2 years. It's not that sequels need more time. It's just that publishers set the bar way too high for sales and graphics. Once you already have built an engine, it's not supposed to take 5+ years to develop a sequel (looking at you, GTA). The problem is as gaming expectations rise, assets take more time to create. If we scaled back graphics, I can guarantee sequels would take much less time to develop. Less time = less crunch = better industry. Another thing I want to point out: a lot of sequels play it . You should take some risks. See Yakuza 7 for a very recent example.

Thread I am a retro gamer who wishes that they still made games for old systems.
My problem has more to do with the photorealism carrot on the stick devs/pubs are chasing. A lot of gamers define a game's worth by its looks, unfortunately. I wish we got more NES/SNES-inspired graphics with a lot of content. Fortunately, indies is where it's at. Games like Stardew Valley and CrossCode look like they are from another time, yet have more depth than a lot of so-called AAA productions. 16bits also has a very distinctive look that I love. There's something magical about it that gets lost with realism. I don't mind games that push boundaries and deliver state-of-the-art visuals, but to me it's always been a second thought. Artistic direction is much more important IMO, which is why budget titles can look and feel much better than the latest COD, Halo, etc.

IMO, Starfield will tell us if ES6 has any potential. To be quite honest, 2019 was so bad for Bethesda that I've lost all respect for the studio. Part of me thinks they've developed Fallout 76 and ES: Arena to tide them over until their big projects, but these games suck so much ass that I can't help but think they've lost it. That said, ES6 needs to be amazing. I think the #1 priority is to make sure the feels great. Skyrim's melee combat is so bad it hurts. At the same time, I don't want Bethesda to mimic Kingdom Come, Elder Scrolls is a lot more accessible. Still, there's gotta be a way to make combat not feel so poor. I also want . Not shit, just disappointing like RE2make. They cut a lot of content to either sell later as DLC or just ignore completely. Plus, the stuff they're adding kinda sucks (looking at you, Orphanage). Mercs died for Resistance, which looks like it'll have a niche following if any. This is worrying for the inevitable RE4 remake. With the amount of cheese in this game, what will Capcom do? In fact, the entire industry seems to take a turn for realism and seriousness, which sucks out the fun for me. Also you'd expect MORE features in a remake, not significantly less. Now that the Internet pretty much killed mags, it seems stupid but I was always to enter a store and beeline for the video game magazines shelves. Today you're lucky to have one, but there used to be so many!

I was debating about creating a new thread but I'll just write a comment about Roger Cadoret. I mean, I did think it was funny the first time, but it's a gross stereotype of the French Quebecer. It's like Ubi felt obligated to include such a character because they're based in MTL. On the flipside, I think it's important to include our culture in games. Just not...like this, in a grossly exaggerated manner.

People who want Code Veronica remade seem to forget it's probably the worst mainline RE title. I also don't see the appeal as they could make more money remaking Dino Crisis or even Outbreak as a multiplayer-focused game. I'm not seeing it and it probably will never happen. They'd need to completely reinvent it, and at this point they'd rather make another game.

Gameplay is the most important thing to me, so I knew watching all the trailers prior to the game's launch that it probably wouldn't be for me. However, I'll take Death Stranding over the bajillion, almost factory-made games you can find on shelves that all follow the same mold. In that regard, it feels like an achievement, something that shouldn't exist yet does. I agree though that Kojima's medium might not be video games, but rather movies. Guy enjoys editing much more than the usual dev, plus he always insists to add hours of cutscenes. If the gameplay is engaging that's fine, but his recent games are anything but.

Same here. Note that it was nonetheless frustrating. But now with codes, I find it borderline disrespectful when you ask and don't even get an answer. I get it, I'm not an influencer. Still, what we do is hard work and for as long as I can remember we always had to fight for review copies, apart from a handful of studios. It's even more strange to me as with GreedFall, they NEED the exposure. It's not NHL 20 or Borderlands 3, it's almost sent to die in September with how crowded the month is with releases. It's not as simple as having cameos from your favorite legends and calling it a day. I'm not done yet but seriously, there are way too many cutscenes. That and boring missions make Days Gone a great concept but a bad game. Killing hordes is fine. The rest is pretty meh or worse. 25 hours in and I'm still asked to follow characters while they talk. That's just super annoying. Gameplay is king, and this game has bad design, period.

The gameplay loop is probably the game's biggest weakness. Honestly, it reminds me of MMORPGs: - Go kill marauders - Take a walk with NPC, ride bike with NPC and kill baddies with NPC - Destroy zombie nests - Cutscene, then another cutscene, and if you skip, loading! I love hordes, but the missions really kill any momentum this game had.

I almost broke my controller with the mission. Just how BAD can the missions be really? Unbelievable. I'm like 15 hours in and still can't comprehend how devs thought "walk with X," "listen but don't get caught by NERO", and "protect X" are fun.

Yea the more I play, the less I enjoy this game and start to understand the low scores. Environment traversal is surprisingly stiff and dull. It reminds me of Ubisoft games, aka clear camps and basically do nothing. Quests are super generic and not fun. Bike combat sucks. Cutscenes are also bad. I'm finding myself skipping most of them + dialogues (Deacon has the personnality of a rock. His backstory is really not engaging, at all. Hordes are a neat idea. Only problem is, you almost have to be lucky to stumble into one. For a game based around this concept, you'd think they would be more freakers roaming around. Also it seems like the horde meter or whatever you call it has been either removed or is bugged because I've never seen it. At trust level 2 you are already overpowered with automatic guns that kill freakers in 2-3 shots max. Oh and I love how the bike always runs out of gas, but in one story part you have infinite gas because reasons (rescue mission). It's too bad because there's a lot to appreciate here, but it's brought down by

So far I quite enjoy the game, BUT that initial loading was very amateurish and the black screens in between cutscenes is stupid. Also: Deacon can't swim (GET BACK TO SHORE!) and there are poorly designed area limits (PLAYABLE AREA) Oh and I still haven't met a horde (well, apart from the story one near the beginning).

I love the game because the exploration is fun. The game also looks phenomenal too, I rarely do that but had to take some screenshots while playing. There are performance issues though on base ps4 and lots of glitches

Played a lot for my review and only now reached the point where you . I was pleasantly surprised, didn't really expect it. I did of side quests and don't feel like i'm even 1/4 finished. Game is huge. Side quests are pretty bad though, most of them are "kill bad guys" or "bring me some herbs." I still enjoy exploring because the world is beautiful and the loot is fun, plus you get to upgrade your ship with ressources. Odyssey also reminds me (to an extent) of Shadows over Mordor with its mercenaries system.

Screenshots are pretty bad, even if they're leaks. I'm sure this won't touch Outbreak and will be more like, you know, the worse spin-offs in the series like ORC.

Hard to get excited even if the town looks cozy. I wish this game had Sakurai levels of details. Also, it doesn't help that all the "innovation" feels like it's 5-10 years behind.

Part of me wishes CDPR acquired the NetRunner (card game) IP and added it as a fully functional minigame in Cyberpunk, complete with multiplayer trading/tournaments. Honestly the only way I see the MP work is either in the form of minigames or leaderboards.

It's capitalism slowly but surely cannibalizing our games. It's the new normal, because devs/pubs always get away with it. "It's just cosmetics." "You don't have to pay if you don't want to." There's always fans ready to defend corporations.

OBO always means you'll get less as a seller. If I see a listing with this I'll always haggle. Best is when you are face to face with a seller, you can get really low prices because most people suck at haggling or just want to sell.

Thread Resident Evil 2 |OT| 1998... I'll never forget it
Finished Claire A yesterday and here's some thoughts before I write my review (still have ways to go): Insane, creepy atmosphere Zombies are actually a threat now and scary (+ better AI) Gore level of detail is amazing A real return to survival horror Good challenge even on Standard (died quite a few times) Excellent graphics overall, although it can be hit-and-miss depending on the area Good replay value with extra modes (4th survivor, tofu + free upcoming DLC) Feels like a love letter to fans Boss battles SUCK (shoot the evil eyes!) Story is almost non-existent (same as original) + it seems there's fewer files to read now Outside of RPD the areas feel bland IMO Monster variety is bad (got worse than original) A/B scenarios got butchered (i'm on Leon B now) Kinda nitpicking, but I got tired of the darkness + flashlight gameplay after a while Not finished yet, but so far I'd give it 8-8.5 based on my playtime.
