Updated Fire Token menu seems lame. Three tokens to steal a reward? That’s just going to piss somebody off. Two to send a message to the Edge? Maybe there’s value there, but I’m not sure what yet. Could perhaps help an Edge player fake out the other Edge players just with the parchment alone. Hmm. There’s got to be something else to spend the tokens on later. I hope.

Yes. I understand that. The idol was still valid at this tribal council. Had she simply kept it and used it for herself, she would still be in the game. I know what she was trying to do. She took a risk and got burned.

She JT’d herself. Gave her idol away to another player and got booted when it was used against her. Worse than that, she Erik’d herself! Gave away guaranteed immunity at the next council, making herself vulnerable when she didn’t have to, and immediately got booted at that tribal council. Her motivations were not nearly as dumb as either of those two guys, it’s true. And her legacy won’t be diminished. But the end result is the same. Ousted.

Thread Let's work together to recover the lost 480p trailer for Donkey Kong Racing that IGN once hosted
Sorry! Yeah, the way the backend publishing system is set up, the normal version of the video is attached as an object related to the content of that article, as are several screenshots, but since the 640x480 version was just posted as a raw hyperlink is the body of the article, it was never connected in any way in the backend. The good news is I thought this search had hit a dead end with my defeat, but I was wrong. The search continues if someone managed to download and keep a copy of that file years ago. The bad news is the 640x480 version, even if found, might be missing that same chunk of seconds at the end of the clip.

Here's the direct page for the video, which still lets you watch it. The quality isn't great, though. May even be worse than what's on YouTube. In fact, it looks like IGN's version cuts out several seconds at the end. Sorry this isn't the Holy Grail you were hoping for, Hero.

Yep. She can just keep on banking tokens until right before the challenge to get back in, then assess her opponents at that time and go on a spending spree to power herself up as needed. Would be great if she had one or two tokens left in her pocket when she waltzes back into the main game. :p

Natalie can buy herself an idol now. With Amber, Danni and Ethan as competition, she doesn't necessarily need an advantage in the challenge to get back in the game. But she can get one or two of those too if she keeps on scoring tokens in the next episodes.

I've been thinking more about an "all First Boots" season and I think it would be great. It'd be easy for the casting team – all these people have already been approved through their process once before. It would be a guaranteed great season-long story arc no matter who won, because no matter who it was, they'd have achieved the ultimate comeback of going from worst to first. The premiere episode would be extremely full of tension because no one would want to be the first boot again, and every episode after that would be wild because none of the players would have ever gone deeper than three days – they'd all be in new territory. Could be great!

If First Boots isn't viable due to lack of compelling cast members, my other hope for a returning players season is All Runners Up. Get 20 players who all made it to Day 39 and fell just short of winning the million. Again, you're guaranteed a great season-long story arc with one person finally getting the gold while leaving all the rest in the dust. It'd be more brutal than Winners at War. :p

And the players are absolute morons when it comes to voting. Rich deserved to win the season by virtue of just realizing that he was playing a game at all. Thread Senator Kamala Harris introduces new bill to extend school day to 6PM
Took my kids to a book fair at their school tonight a little before 6:00. This time of year, after the “fall back” clock change, it’s as dark as midnight at 6. That issue alone should derail this entire idea - how in the world could you justify sending school buses full of kids out into the dark? The school day ending at 6:00 means buses would be running well after that, especially in crowded towns and rural areas. Some kids wouldn’t get home until closer to 7:00. I’m amazed that this idea progressed any further than a “what if?” conversation over lunch with a few colleagues and it’s actually something she’s getting behind - and during an election cycle! The whole process of thought through her brain to arrive at this bill is flabbergasting.

Thread Senator Kamala Harris introduces new bill to extend school day to 6PM
I read into it further, but the messaging right out of the gate on this is so confusing that it’s shooting her in the foot no matter what. When the headline on the news is “Kamala wants to lengthen the school day by three more hours,” then that’s all 95% of people are going to react to, no matter whether or not the truth is closer to expanding after-school programs in only certain communities. And I’ll stick by my school bus comment, because there’s no way transportation of these kids home doesn’t become a major problem with this timetable. Shifting in-person pick-up time to 6:00 won’t magically make 100% of parents available to sweep in with smiles on their faces every day to reclaim their darling children.

I’m just worried that a lot of players are going to head into this not realizing that it’s just a Part 1. People are going to get to the end of Midgar (or wherever they choose to end it), and the credits are going to roll, and then a wave of negativity will break out online. :/ It reminds me of watching Deathly Hallows, Part 1 in the theater on opening night with a room full of huge Potter fans. Like many others, I'd hoped for Kid Goku from the original Dragon Ball series. Alas. (Though I wouldn't put it past them still actually adding him too and considering him another separate character. One more Goku!)

Thread Cadence of Hyrule - Crypt of the NecroDancer Featuring The Legend of Zelda announced (spring 2019)
It could, but again that leaves the whole month of May with nothing. And gives Cadence like a week or two tops before being swallowed up by Maker 2's shadow.

No insider info – just a guess. They've got nothing else on the schedule for May. The month's totally empty. Why hold it until later when it would have to compete against Super Mario Maker 2 in June or the metric ton of releases in July?

Thread Minako Arisato is now the official name for the Persona 3 female protagonist (from Persona 3 Portable)
I'm not against having the option to rename characters if you want to – I just don't like it when there isn't one "default" name to go with, since that's what I usually prefer. I named Joker "Lucas Thomas" when I started Persona 5 and it consistently bugged me. I wanted to go back and start the whole game again when I found out his official post-game launch name has mostly been settled on as Ren.

Characters not having set, official names from the beginning is starting to irk me.

Thread 'The Walking Dead’ – Season 9, Part 2 begins Sunday, February 10 on AMC
Just finished watching. Too much "huh?" for me with the timeline of events. Tara had said she was leaving for Hilltop in the morning, so OK, she was out in danger territory, sure. And Saddiq had mentioned that he'd be traveling with that group too. Fine. The Highwaymen, also outside. But then the rest got plucked one by one from within the safety of the Kingdom walls without anybody noticing or any of them yelling for help or . . . anyway. Too much "huh?" for a really impactful moment for me.

A great chronological selection that covers the early era. Hopefully people will support this release and Konami will move forward with Castlevania Anniversary Collection 2 to get into the Rondo of Blood/Symphony of the Night territory.

I don't suppose there's any way to trade the version exclusives between both versions if both are downloaded on the same Switch?

Thread If you could turn any Final Fantasy into a movie
I'd do a documentary about the creation of the first Final Fantasy, interviewing all the key players who were at Square back then and painting a picture of the sense of desperation they had to craft a real hit or else face the closure of the studio.

Thread what Nintendo game do you consider the hardest?
Nope. Again, this was 30 years ago. The game was brand-new, there was no Internet, he might have had a Nintendo Power or two with scattered tips, but he was eight years old and doing the best he could. All the strategies and tricks people have discovered over the years to make the game easier were totally unknown. Farming slimes worked in the opening part of the game to gain a few levels of experience, so he just stuck with what worked and kept at it.

The GBA library is pure gold. I couldn't begin to select just 20 titles to represent it fully.

Thread what Nintendo game do you consider the hardest?
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. At least in its original cartridge version – having access to save states in later re-releases has eliminated a lot of the tedium of dealing with balancing the level-up process with keeping the console powered on. A friend of mine 30 years ago just left his NES running for a week straight while he and his brothers grinding XP on slimes to get Link fully powered up. (Now Nintendo's SP version of the game on Switch just starts you out with that status.)

Thread The Switch Icon Watch Thread: Because your home menu deserves the very BEST
The design of the icon makes sense with the Famicom version, since the two Famicom controllers are visually distinct from one another. The NES version looks like it just stacked two normal controllers on top of each other for no reason.
