ThreadFirst look at the Halo MCC menus from the PC version
What always annoyed me about the MCC is that you can't just randomly join someone for co-op campaign. There's not even any kind of browser, its all invite only.
ThreadFirst look at the Halo MCC menus from the PC version
It's a shame because I'm not interested in PVP Halo and I don't have any mates who are up for playing Halo campaigns again, so there's hardly a decent way to find peeps to play with.

I'm down for all the new changes and updates, can't wait. If it ends up getting release on the Switch then I'll play it for a third time as well.

ThreadTwitch has Begun to Decline While YouTube Gaming Live Keeps Growing
The more you stream on Twitch, gain an audience and so on, you'll eventually get the chance to become an affiliate.
I was using ReStream for a long while and then Twitch said I was allowed to become an affiliate. It's lost its importance to me now that I no longer stream everyday, so I think I might drop the program and go back to using ReStream.
But yeah. A lot of people make the transition over time (if the audience is there).

ThreadI want to build a portfolio to help me break into games journalism. Should I spring for my own website?
No worries! Honestly, create a Blogger page, YouTube channel, anything. As long as you're creating content and/or writing, you'll have something to show at the end of the day and you'll be ahead of the game.
I was 16 back when I started creating YouTube content. After a year, a now defunct website asked me to "work" for them but luckily I was able to visit events like EGX and meet people who would actually pay me for media work.
Then it was freelance and University for me until four months ago I got the job at IGN. It can be tough but keep at it, network, approach website with stories and so on. You can smash it.

Please be good. Please.
Depends which games you want to buy.

ThreadI'm shocked at how my Nintendo Switch became the ultimate emulation machine for me
I'm exactly the same, my Switch has primarily become an emulation device now. I just haven't got to the point of using custom icons and such (although it is very pretty).
Pretty good.

ThreadSquad seems to be shaping up well. Anybody play it?
It's probably the most tense FPS I've ever played. Once you jump into a good squad with a fantastic leader, it's some of the best multiplayer action you can get.
This. Also I stopped caring about achievements once the PS4 and Xbox One generation started. I thought they were the coolest thing back when I was a kid playing 360 games.
ThreadCalling all personnel: What do you want from XCOM 3?
I never really played it as such to be honest but I get that. I enjoyed abusing the 'overwatch' feature with unlimited time, and taking as long as I want with it.
I don't want the core game to just be that of course, I just like messing around like that when it comes to these games.
I played more than half of Role of Rose, not my favourite horror game (hence why I never finished it) but I think its mad it goes for that much.
Although, has there ever been an instance when a rare physical game would get a new digital re-release and the price would then go down for the physical copies?
Going in the other direction, a game I own that I recently sold was Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes for the price of £80. I picked the game up for way, way cheaper back in the day.

ThreadWhat stylus are you using for Mario Maker 2?
That's how I played it back on the 3DS and it was super fun and a lot easier (for me) than using the drums. Same goes for the Switch version, the official drum set is kinda naff. Thanks for the heads up though.
I only played a few missions but I'll be picking up the game. Once you get going and rack up a sick combo, it feels great. Like The Matrix and Max Payne rolled into a game.

ThreadRE7 is an absolute triumph and should be respected as such
I thought it was alright, a lot of people describe it as "a masterclass in terror" and I never felt that. I never thought the game was particularly tense or scary due to how easy it was. Once you start using the block and crouch combo to duck/avoid most attacks, you're pretty much sorted. It was fun but not much more than that.
I'm hoping for an RE3 Remake to happen.
ThreadRE7 is an absolute triumph and should be respected as such
Fair enough. I grew up with Resident Evil and although I love them, they've never been scary.
It was only a few years ago when I played both the Forbidden Siren and Silent Hill series for the first time and they were a lot more tense and unexpected compared to everything that RE offered me.
ThreadAnyone Else Here Unfazed By Gaming Violence But Disturbed By Real-Life Blood?
Not really. I've hurt my self plenty of times by accident when cooking and blood's never really fazed me. Same goes for when I use to be in the Army Cadets and people might get injured.
If anything, games have made it easier.
ThreadWhatcha Been Playin': It's Worth A Google Edition

ThreadHow big is your public social media following?
Back when I use to upload on my own YouTube channel before working at IGN, I had around 1.6K subscribers and it's stayed around that number for a long time now.
On Twitter, I'm nearly at 400 followers. Not too bad.
Incorrect? I mean, I don't think it is but then again it's just an opinion. I finished Far Cry 1, 2 and 3 and played a good few hours of the sequels, those sequels did not interest me at all.
Days Gone just isn't interesting. I see it as an okay third person Far Cry but with zombies. Nothing stand out about it.
I played it for around three hours or so at a preview event and thought it wasn't for me. The combat and the open world felt so average.
Once it got released, I tried giving it another go but it did nothing for me. I'm tired of the Far Cry-esque open world busy work and along with the zombies, I just couldn't find myself getting drawn in.
On paper it sounds fun but I feel like I've played this a million times before.
ThreadIGN: Out of 40k readers more than half want Sony's next-gen console the most
I've not cared about trophies or achievements for a good few years now and although its cool to have them in older titles so people have a better reason to revisit them, I feel like it didn't help that they set a standard for the PS2 games which they might not have wanted to in the first place.
ThreadIGN: Out of 40k readers more than half want Sony's next-gen console the most
For sure, bumps to the resolution, more stable frame rates and such are all good. I just don't see the need of having trophy support for PS2 games which Sony did with their PS2 on PS4 titles. That extra effort probably wasn't necessary and might be one of the reasons why they've hardly touched BC for that system but that's just my theory.
ThreadIGN: Out of 40k readers more than half want Sony's next-gen console the most
New games is something that I don't think needs mentioning, it's kind of like the default reason why you move over to another console anyway. I'm always more excited about the other features a console has to offer.
ThreadIGN: Out of 40k readers more than half want Sony's next-gen console the most
Honestly, all I want out of these next-gen systems is proper backwards compatibility (especially from Sony).
They tried to put in the extra effort of adding trophies to PS2 games and all sorts, no one needs that. I wish I could pop my favourite PS2 games into my PS4 and have em run. I know its a lot to ask since it's a shite ton of work to get emulators running but Microsoft have smashed it with their implementation of backwards compatibility.
Thankfully, I'll always have emulators on PC and if not then I can just run em from my modified PS2. To sum this up, I basically want a 4K capable PS2 which I guess isn't really a pressing issue.
ThreadPoll: Are indie games today overall better then SNES games?
I didn't grow up with the SNES since I was born in 97. However, I now own a SNES and quite a few games along with it as well.
I've played near enough all of the "classics" but yeah, I would say indie games are overall "better". They're usually more convenient to play as well.
Been playing a shite ton of Squad and I've been absolutely loving it. I haven't touched the game in around a year or so but man, it feels great to be playing it again.
I feel like its the perfect mix of Battlefield, Insurgency and ARMA.
Also, I'm looking forward to streaming my first time playthrough of Dishonored 2 this month. Been meaning to get round to playing that for ages.
Aside from those two, chill month for me.
ThreadThe gameplay of Death Stranding: What's your early read on its potential?
Honestly, I'm hoping for a exploration based, kind of supernatural-esque stealth game. A bit of combat is what I'm hoping for but not what I want the game to focus on. I wouldn't even be fussed if the game was around eight or twelve hours long.
ThreadBeat Games announce that custom levels support is coming to Beat Saber on Oculus Quest in future
I have no idea. It works well enough for me to complete a few tracks on expert. So I can only assume the tracking is good? I've never had an issue myself with tracking but I have plenty of space and good lighting when I'm using the Quest.
Oh don't worry, I know. It's just that when I was playing it, I wish I had a bit more to care about aside from just killing demons constantly. Sounds a bit daft since I was playing a DOOM game but I think I just wasn't that jazzed about the game beforehand anyway.
Someone gave me a copy, I played it for a bit and thought it was fun but I wasn't hooked into playing it till the end.
I played both and finished Uncharted 4. Although Uncharted 4 annoyed me at times, I still enjoyed that a lot more just because there was a story (obviously). I know DOOM 2016 is fun but its not the kinda fun that can keep me hooked till completion.
100% hatred towards uber gameresque things. What really upsets me is when I'm wanting to buy a new keyboard and they use some shiter "gamer" / cool font instead of something normal.
I tried getting into DOOM 2016 but I couldn't. I had fun playing it, and absolutely smashing up demons but I needed something a bit more.
It sounds dumb but I have a hard time just enjoying FPS' like these if there's no story involved. Guess I'm looking for DOOM 3? Although I never played that.
I've heard mixed things about the game. Perhaps I wasn't in the right headspace to enjoy the 2016 version of DOOM. Might be worth looking back at once I have some free time.
I was too young to play Shenmue back when it was released but I tried getting into it a few years ago, it's not for me. I can understand appreciate a lot of things about it but when it comes to playing it, it feels weirdly outdated.
The only thing I really love about the series is the music.
ThreadLondon ... how does anyone afford to go to the cinema?
Before working at IGN, I use to do part time work at an Everyman Cinema and oh man; was it expensive.
It was one of those proper middle class cinemas, specifically the one I worked at over in Madia Vale. Parents bringing their kids to watch films whilst buying a bottle of wine for them selves, snobby assholes complaining about every little thing and so much more.
Recently got my hands on an Oculus Quest and so far, I've messed around in VRChat and also Beat Saber. I bloody love Beat Saber, I think I've replayed that demo about 50ish times now?
Hopefully I can get my hands on the full version soonish, I like rhythm games like Taiko and so on; this is basically a dream come true.

ThreadLets talk about Days Gone 2, what do you want from the sequel?
Perhaps I'm just wishing for another game to be honest. Days Gone wasn't for and when a sequel comes around (if one ever does) then I doubt I'll be too interested. Much like Rage 2, the schlock that comes with open world games are just not appealing to me.
ThreadLets talk about Days Gone 2, what do you want from the sequel?
I think you still can, perhaps not so much the bike riding but more so the hordes. Treat Days Gone 2 like a proper horror game. I feel like big zombie hordes in games are always just something for you to blow up and not so much avoid out of pure terror.
I just couldn't get into this game. It's basically Far Cry but with zombies and that does nothing for me.

ThreadWhich was the best episode of Game of Thrones season 8? The Long Night
Probably The Long Night. It had its issues but I feel like it stands out amongst the rest of that season.
What came before and after this episode was just ergh. Although it's all over now, so I suppose it doesn't matter much.
Hope not. I would prefer a sequel closer to Killzone 1 and 2 instead of how they made things look in the previous Killzone.
1 and 2 felt well gritty to me. I loved it.

Sparkling water is witchcraft and should not be trusted!
Seriously though, it's just doesn't do anything for me. I feel like a fizzy/sparkling drink should have some kinda taste to it.
My personal answer would be no? I'm only 22 and there's still plenty of "classic" games that I haven't played (yet). Everyone has their own preferences and tastes when it comes to playing vidya games. For lack of a clearer way I saying it, I wouldn't "knock any points off" someone if they haven't played Ocarina of Time or Call of Duty 4 or so on.
Indeed I woulda been quite young but yeah, there are tons of games out there. Some are bound to slip through the cracks but most importantly, I never had a Wii when growing up lol. Kind of would of been impossible to play.
My 360 coupled with Call of Duty 3 and Halo 3 had quite the grip on me whilst I was a teen.
I've been using the Scarlet Solo 2nd Generation version for a few years now. Has never let me down, pair that alongside the DBX 286s and you got yourself a cool combo.
I thought The Evil Within 2 was well pants compared to the first game and this is coming from someone who both enjoyed and also finished the first one as well. The second game felt rather unpolished to me.

ThreadDo you wish you worked in the game industry?
I've been working at IGN for about a month and a bit now but before joining, I never would of thought I would be where I am now. I would see a site like IGN as way out of my league on-the-job spectrum.
As a heads up, I'm still a University student living at home. My career in games mainly consisted of the odd bit of freelance, my own YouTube channel and live streams but then I effectively landed my dream job.

ThreadDays Gone Trophy List Revealed, WARNING: Contains Spoilers
I'm just not sure it was for me. I felt like I was playing a third person Far Cry-esque game but with "freakers" and I wasn't a big fan. If you like those kinda open world games and the usual open world trimmings that come with it, then you'll probably enjoy Days Gone. It just wasn't for me.
I'll have to play it again once it released, having hands on for a few hours obviously isn't an indication on how the game will end up being.
I had for quite a long time stopped going to the cinema and watching films regularly, probably because I use to work in a cinema not too long ago (which kinda put me off).

ThreadDoes 'Days Gone' Cross the Line By Letting Players Kill Child Freakers?
As someone who's played the game for three hours and a bit, no. The game doesn't cross the line.
Hell, there's an online / co-op zombie game on Steam that has zombie kids you can kill. Also, you can kill kids in the original Deus Ex and Fallout (if I remember correctly).
Is it kinda weird at times? I guess but there were weird zombie babies in Dead Space and that game did alright.
I don't know why but I cringed when 'A Whole New World' started playing.
Probably because a live action version of this just doesn't jive well in my mind.

I get that. My girlfriend would love to get into the Souls games because of the art design / style and to explore the world but the difficulty is super off putting to her.
Hey there people.
Not sure if a thread has already been created regarding this topic but I wanted to see what everyone thought about the subject matter.
So I've been playing Devil May Cry 5 for about a week now and have been loving the experience so far. To be honest, I would say it's all thanks to the 'Human' difficulty selection & 'Auto' mode for combat. I probably wouldn't of touched this game if it didn't have these two modes on offer.
I'm usually terrible at action games and trying to remember combo's of any kind is just setting myself up for failure but, to my surprise Devil May Cry 5 is really accommodating! From past experiences playing different action games, they've always been more than happy to throw a player in the deep end and leave em there.
The same could be said for the story too. Although this is the latest game in a long running series, it still feels like a great place to start if you're a newcomer. The game even offers you a little catch up on prior DMC games if you really need it.
This reminded me of Capcom's other games such as Resident Evil 7, 2 and even Monster Hunter: World and how those titles feel somewhat welcoming to new players as well. Take Monster Hunter: World for example which is another series I tried getting into in the past. Those previous MH games seem impenetrable to any newcomer but World had that little twist on it which made it feel just that little bit more welcoming compared to the earlier entries in the series.
In any case, I'm wondering if anyone else had perhaps not been a fan of these franchises at first but soon changed their mind when having played these newer releases? Resident Evil 7 is a great example of a franchise giving itself somewhat of a fresh start, even if it has a seven in the title.
Honestly, I use to not care and just accepted this as a kid but now that I've got a full time job and such...
I don't have time for games that are super hard (unless that's what I'm after). DMC 5 is proper fun and I'm just glad I can play it and not feel shit for remembering six million combo's.
Thread'Captain Marvel' Trolled The Trolls With A $455M Global Launch
I've been somewhat out of the loop, how comes people are ragging on this film? I watched it on release day and enjoyed it.
I've seen a fair amount of people online posting that people should instead support Alita: Battle Angel and boycott CM. What the hell happened?
I would say no, I wasn't excited for Days Gone before hand but playing it kind of confirmed that it's not worth me spending 30 hours of my time on it. A lot of what's in the game has been done better in other open world games but then again, I'm somewhat tired of the setting / enemy type.
Sorry but I never got round to playing Horizon! The crafting is simple enough and it's quite fun to find different parts scattered around the world in buildings, cars and so on.
Crafting is done from a wheel you can access while in game, time kind of slows down when you do (as far as I remember).
Ha, no worries.
Honestly, Day's Gone was fun to play whilst at the event but it didn't blow me out of the water like that E3 2016 demo did. Like I said, if you like open world shenanigans but with zombies then you'll most likely get a kick out of Day's Gone.
So.
I was able to play Day's Gone for three hours or so whilst at the preview event (around last week).
A lot of what I experienced in Day's Gone has been done better in other games. If this game was released a few years ago, I probably would have been more excited.
Overall, the game felt fine but that's about it.
If you like Far Cry and all the open world trimmings that comes with, you'll probably enjoy Day's Gone.
Sorted out a bit of spelling.
Not the best Resident Evil out there but it's a fantastic co-op experience.
Trying to rip that thing off Jill during her fight on professional was impossible. I loved it.
ThreadSkipping cutscenes on your first playthrough
Depends on the game to be honest. If it's another CoD game, then I doubt I'll be missing much. Also depends on how you feel on the day - you might not be in the mood for long cutscenes.
Not surprised but I'm still a bit bummed out. A stealth game with mechs and all other sorts of cool stuff? Sounds good but in the case of Left Alive, I guess it isn't. Shame.
I have both an Xbox One X and a PS4 Pro, does the game handle well on either of those? I might just end up going for the PC version if not but I do want that couch experience.
Music is HUGELY important for me, I have all of my albums loaded up on my computer since most of the music I like can't be found on Spotify and such.

I would love for Killzone to make a comeback. I always enjoyed the somewhat "grounded" war zone which was Killzone 1, 2 and also 3.
Killzone Shadow Fall just did not do it for me. The whole aesthetic of that game was too futuristic for me which sounds daft but I just did not like the way that game looked.
ThreadDisaster Report & Raw Danger... My Favourite Survival Games! Anyone Else Played These?
Both Disaster Report & Raw Danger are survival games but unlike your typical survival game, they're based in a somewhat realistic and grounded reality. You're not facing zombies, fighting off hordes of cannibalistic tribes or even facing up against groups of hostile online players.
It's pretty boring actually but that's why I love it! It's the only survival game that I can think of which takes place in a city that's been affected by a natural disaster. You're just a normal person, trying to escape from a crumbling city. You're constantly dodging falling debris, navigating through destroyed buildings and so much more. It has a pretty simple gameplay loop of exploration, item management and choosing dialogue options. I'm doing a terrible job of explaining these games but watch a few gameplay videos and you'll get exactly what I'm talking about!
I would be not to mention that these games usually have multiple characters you can control and quite a few different endings too! It's probably the most plain form of survival game that someone could play and I truly love the setting.
I've always wanted to play more games like Disaster Report & Raw Danger but never really found similar experiences to them. I forgot to mention that these are PS2 games as well, how charming ey?
In any case, has anyone else played these games and what do you think of them?
ThreadBest handheld system for retro games/emulation?
That's certainly fair. Pretty sure you can still retain online access but I'm not 100% about that. I haven't been banned yet but I'm not interested in online for my Switch any way's.
Thread[Eurogamer] Resident Evil HD, 0 and 4 on Nintendo Switch cost £30/$30 each, asking for comment from capcom on upcharge (Currently no new features)
A "Classic Trilogy" package for around £20 or so would be great. I've already been playing those three games on my Switch via Retroarch but it would be cool to have some sort of a port.
ThreadShenmue III should be releasing in less than 6 months. Where's the hype ?
Thanks for the congrats.
Also, it's just one of those thing's isn't it? Matter of opinion and such. I just could not get into Shenmue. It was a fun game to stream whilst I was doing it but other than that, I couldn't see myself finishing it and Shenmue 3 seems the same.
I'll obviously like to try it out but I'm not fussed or excited. The only thing I am looking forward to is the music. Big fan of the music in Shenmue but that's about it.

I didn't grow up with the Shenmue craze and it was only last year or so when I got round to finally playing it. Honestly, it's alright? I can understand how it would of been super impressive for the time but it's not one of those games I would want to play again.
Shenmue 3 lost me a while back. To be honest, I'm only looking forward to the music.
