ThreadA.I. animates piano playing from sound file alone
Thought this was enormously cool.
I could see this having a real application in video games. No need to manually animate or mocap a pianist for something like the saloon scenes in RDR2. There are so many games that currently fake it because animating a pianist using traditional methods is incredibly expensive and time consuming.
ThreadRumor - apple VR set to potentially have dual 8k displays, $3000
On the one hand, this could be squarely aimed at enterprise, with an aim to bring it to general consumers when the components become cheaper.
On the other, Apple is known for intentionally leaking higher price points to gauge reaction and cushion the blow of an expensive, though not quite expensive product. They most commonly do this when they launch a new product category, which they're doing here.
ThreadHow are we still getting dialogue and acting in games like this? (AC:Valhalla)
As a voice actor in video games, I can tell you that this is absolutely not the case. Developers care a ton about voice acting, as they do every aspect of production.
In this case, I would remind everyone that this is a child performer and to respond accordingly.
ThreadKotaku: Microsoft Is Still Planning A Cheaper, Disc-Less Next-Gen Xbox
I wonder what this means for a potential Switch 2. If next-gen multiplats will be designed for something around the power of a ps4pro as their baseline, that may leave enough wiggle room for Nintendo to come in around 2022 with a hybrid console in that range and receive a decent amount of next-gen ports.
I have an original Vive, running on a GTX1070.
Index owners, if you had to pick only one, what would you consider the biggest upgrade of these options?
I’m considering just going with the controllers as I’m not sure my 1070 can really do the Index headset justice.
ThreadPC questions that don't really deserve their own thread.
If I’m not particularly sensitive to input lag and am playing with a controller, is G/Freesync worth it?
I’m attracted to the idea of it making framerate fluctuations less noticeable, thanks to eliminated tearing, but does V-sync achieve the same result, albeit with added input lag?
Has anyone gotten impulse triggers working in the PC version with an XB1 controller? Or does this game not support that feature?
I only ask because Gears 4 used them and because I don’t own an XB1, it was actually my first time feeling it.
Hey guys, been a poster and lurker here and at the old site for over a decade. Went to school for acting. BFA, MFA, all that. Slowly got into voice acting over the last 6 years. Have appeared in smaller and background roles in just over a dozen games. Voice, mocap, full face capture, the works.
Getting to work in the industry I care so much about has been a real treat. Though not without its challenges to be certain!
But this week marks a pretty big milestone for me. First major role in a AAA game.
Now that it’s out, I can finally share that I am Felix!
I honestly couldn’t be prouder. The game looks incredible. I have to wait a couple days more before I’m able to sit down to start it, but lurking this thread, it’s so cool to see that Obsidian’s efforts are resonating with so many. They really are top notch.
That’s it! Just wanted to say hi and express my envy that you’re all able to play it right now lol.
