Jesus fuck this first sentence is so dismissive. If you walk into therapy saying what some of these threads say, you know what they actually do? They TALK to you. They gauge just how serious you are by asking if you’ve already planned it, how you’re gonna do it, etc. These threads are no different than when one of my friends comes to me saying life is shit and they are ready to end it. they just want to talk. Help them in any way you can but immediately locking threads and cutting off that precious time to just chat and be hopeful because you want to prevent other users from getting their moods down doesn’t save anyone’s life.

What expectations are being created? it seems much more harmful to lock a thread that is a cry for help than it is to let it stay open because by locking it that can feel extremely dismissive. most people who have resources or friends they can reach out to DONT post on forums. So think about why someone is posting on Era about it = they don’t have anyone. and yes. Some of us just want to talk it out.

Thread YOUR Most Disappointing Developers (Not Bioware Edition)
DICE I’ve had a rocky relationship with DICE. Battlefield 3 was incredible and really drew me into the FPS genre more than any other game. That game specifically landed me at Battlefieldo and subsequently MP1ST (back when it was under different management) because of how passionate I was for the game and it’s community. I’ve worked with and made quite a few friends who work(ed) at DICE, and it’s really made me wonder how this dev studio is so INCREDIBLY mismanaged. and it’s not like they are mismanaged to a degree that they can’t make games, it’s to a degree that they start with a great idea, implement it, but then when it is delivered, it’s an absolute mess. Battlefield 3 had so much balance issues early in its life and eventually we at BFO lead the infamous Battlefield Blackout because the developer response was non existent. Battlefield 4 broken for months and then after it’s prime was fixed and expanded on by a support studio to a point that you wondered why was DICE LA the support studio and not the main team. Who the hell was managing that place so well? Battlefield 1 was great, had some DLC issues but I don’t remember any big issues. battlefield 5 is still a complete shit show. now I don’t blame the developers. I blame the managers. The shot callers. The established precedents for Battlefield that prevents communication and justification of why things are the way that they are. It’s every installment. What the hell is going on there? It feels so bad. You have such a great concept and it is constantly marred by the fact that the concept never feels fully realized and cooked through. You’re a great chef who plating undercooked reverse seared steak. I want DICE to be better but man it’s such a pattern I don’t have faith in them. and the worst part is that the community managers and devs who interact with the community in some form or another just get shit on and they can never say why it’s the way that it is.

Yep, and I never said it wasn't. The original advice was to skip college and go into trade. I said it was awful advice because it is, if that's your face value advice. Do you like working in jobs that are considered trade? Are you a very hands on person and love making hella money? Trade jobs bruh. All day. But do you also want a piece of paper that opens tons of doors for you as well? College, bruh. All day. And yeah, I sympathize with plenty of people who went to school and have tons of debt. But I also know that plenty of them would rather be where they are now with that debt than doing something else they aren't passion about it. Both roads are viable. Going to college doesn't automatically guarantee you a shit load of debt. Trade jobs aren't always going to guarantee you an enjoyable life just because you make 4000 a month.See above. I'm not shit talking trade jobs, I'm shit talking the surface level advice with no nuance added to it.

Thread Xbox Series X: What You Can Expect From the Next Generation of Gaming (12TF, RDNA2 & Zen 2, Hardware Raytracing, Variable Rate Shading) OFFICIAL SPECS
yep, and last I remember, they already lose money on consoles as is. They always recoup costs from software and subscriptions. given that MS will have project x cloud Game pass Xbox Gold let’s say they are 10 each, that’s 30 a month, 360 a year, within two years of any user having all three of those, they recouped the cost of a console and then some. obviously it won’t be that straightforward, but the revenue stream exemplified here suggests that they could totally take that loss and by playing the long con will generate much more revenue in the end. there’s a thousand different factors not considered here, but you can imagine just how much they could be making and if this undercutting is actually possible.

There was never a dispute that children don't handle losing well. I asked which parts of fortnite teach a child to have violent outbursts. The overwhelming response is that they naturally have those tendencies. That's not being disputed. I agree with that. I also agree it is on the parents to teach the child how to deal with their emotions, which was done here. And it was done by limiting access to a personality who quite literally is justifying angry outbursts and being a toxic asshole.

Comments like these are unnecessary and promote an ignorance of how someone develops into a sociopath and what it even is. Animal Cruelty can absolutely be a sign of incredibly disturbing mental issues. There's no ignorance involved with something like that. This? God, there are so many factors about it and ways this could have happened. Kids were fucking around and accidentally started the fire, kids intentionally started the fire but didn't consider what would actually happen, etc. What they did was fucked up and they are responsible for it, one hundred percent, but lets not go down this path of essentially branding people sociopaths because you these are the signs.

From Software games being designed to be difficult is valid but being designed to be inaccessible in the way that they are isn't justifiable at all. Not to mention that the difficulty baked into the game is the type of difficulty designed for able bodied people to experience. Not being able bodied is quite literally adding a spectrum of difficulty levels for people.

A list of basic things. One right off the bat that I see that could be included sekiro is the ability to resize indicators when executing an opponent. Doesn't change the difficulty and allows someone with poor vision can still understand what is needed.

I think what most people miss when it comes to these conversations about accessibility for these games is that the difficulty is designed for able bodied people. Adding accessibility doesn't make the game any less challenging, it provides an entire group of people who otherwise could not play the game for a plethora of reasons the ability to play the game. That difficulty doesn't disappear, and in fact, it's still probably incredibly difficult.

There's an entire list of things that could be added to games that would immensely help anyone who is not able bodied. While that list is very very very extensive and most games don't even nail a quarter of those options, you'd have to imagine a world where those options are implemented, and then how the game can keep its intent of struggle while allowing people who would have NEVER been able to play in the first place the ability to experience that developer's intent of how their game should be experienced.

Thread Blizzard’s Actionless Non-Apology Is Complete Bullshit
2019 has been a year for Blizzard, hasn’t it? It was quiet, and then one day, professional Hearthstone player Blitzchung said “Free Hong Kong” on an official broadcast and Blizzard subsequently banned him and the casters from competitive participation for a year (before reducing both parties’ suspensions to six months). The fallout from their decision lead to many long time players of classic Blizzard games to close their accounts, boycotting any future releases until they finally communicated and committed to tangible action that proved that Blizzard could learn from this incident and find a balance between allowing its players to have their own voices while also focusing on the game their broadcasting. Blizzard thought their opening statement at BlizzCon 2019 would make amends and ensure that none of their game announcements would not be overshadowed by this incident. And yet here we are. Blizzard’s opening statement starts off with J. Allen Brack saying that they had an opportunity to bring the world together in what they call “a tough Hearthstone esports moment,” downplaying the significance of the Blitzchung Incident and not even having the balls to say his name or what the incident was about. Quick sidenote - What fucking world are you referring to in trying to bring together? Brack admits that Blizzard moved too fast in their decision making when punishing Blitzchung and the casters, and too slow to communicate with their playerbase about why they made the decisions that they did. Brack then continues by saying Blizzard failed to live up to the high standards they set for themselves and says that Blizzard “failed in our purpose”, and then, in true calculated PR speech writing, pauses. Waiting the applause. Waiting for the crowd to put their hands together to signal that multi billion-dollar companies can fuck up, say sorry, announce new games, and all be right in the world. And the crowd does exactly this. Brack smirks, delighted that unlike Herb in BoJack Horseman, who refuses to give BoJack closure for abandoning him when he needed a friend, the crowd’s thunderous applause says “yes, king, we forgive you.” Brack continued by saying cliché bullshit about video games bring people together, and how actions are going to matter more than anything that was said. In this split second, I had hope. Blizzard will finally commit to tangible action that proved that Blizzard could learn from this incident and find a balance between allowing its players to have their own voices while also focusing on the game their broadcasting. And a second later, that hope died as Brack pretty much said their tangible action that proved Blizzard could learn from this incident and find a balance between allowing its players to have their own voices while also focusing on the game their broadcasting was basically allowing No other corrective actions were announced or mentioned. None. No change in the rulebook, no announcement completely axing their suspension of Blitzchung, no nothing. They literally fucking said that they know their words mean nothing and hope that their actions speak louder, and it turns out that their actions are just them not doing anything about protestors at BlizzCon. I challenge any professional player playing a Blizzard title to test that line of expression and see how far it goes. I guarantee the distance is short.

It is just VERY strange that plenty of papers that I subscribe to write articles about only his fandom being crazy and harassing, yet hours later, these articles are provided context that renders the reporting moot. And its the internet. You are able to check these things out for yourself and when you do its very confusing. Thread What's the legality of Dreams and its recreations of existing games?
Fair Use often utilizes four factors to determine what is and isn't copyright infringement. Transformative Examples of transformative work - Parodies. Nature of the Copyright Examples - Educational content Amount of copyright taken in said work Effect that the work has on a potential market --- Just because you recreated the work and did not use existing assets to to create it does not fall under fair use, because what factor would it be falling under? Recreating the work isn't transformative, because you're replicating, copying, the work. Additionally, you selling the work or not is also not a defense of said work and if it should be allowed. You are no longer using said work for personal use. Putting it out there, even with no money exchanging hands, is still beneficial to you and potentially infringes on a potential market for said work. Even if the copyright holder wasn't thinking of said potential market, that work is still infringing on it. ( , 960)

As you know, fan projects based in protected IP (i.e. Star Wars) go through a classic cycle of being secretly worked on, announced in the hopes of gaining support, shut down by company defending its IP, etc. With Dreams coming out and the fact that we've seen parts of Fallout 4 recreated, Star Wars, older PlayStation titles, etc, what is the legality of these recreations within Dreams, if any? Would this potentially fall under the same set of laws that those fan-made Star Wars games do, resulting in some of your favorite Dreams creations being taken down, or are we in a loophole of sorts?

Thread Nvidia’s GeForce Now is losing all Activision Blizzard games, a bad sign for cloud gaming (see threadmark for Nvidia statement)
You are quite literally logging into a VM that is running the Steam Client that the user logs into. There is also most likely third party access as well, given that Geforce Now checks to ensure you own the game on Steam.

Nvidia is generating revenue off people paying for virtual machines. You quite literally have to own the games to play them. You can't purchase them through a NVIDIA store that shares revenue on every purchase. Additionally, the Blizzard client states you can't play the games through streaming services, so while I doubt it is a "we want a cut of your revenue" kind of thing, it is probably more so wanting to ensure the legality of it and or ensuring the integrity of the games themselves.

Thread Nvidia’s GeForce Now is losing all Activision Blizzard games, a bad sign for cloud gaming (see threadmark for Nvidia statement)
Well, let us look at the language of the EULA that Blizzard has set up. Nvidia most likely had permission (or didn't) to have ActiBlizzard titles playable on their Geforce Now service while it was in beta. We can gather that Nvidia also reached out to publishers / devs to ensure their games were still good to be played via the streaming service. Any agreement between them most likely stated that they were an authorized third party for the beta period, but not during the launch period, or a clause stating that they can revoke authorization at anytime. Microsoft's xCloud would most likely be treated as an authorized third party service, IF ActiBlizz granted that authorization. My list of logical theories behind these decisions is as followsLastly, we have the whole "they want a cut of the revenue" This could very well be the case. Authorization might require money exchanging hands. Please see the EULA for Blizzard's platform, Section C, article 5. If those streaming services allow Blizzard games to be streamed, it is because they are authorized, or ActiBlizzard hasn't enforced their EULA.

Your analogy is not very good. You are not buying a vanilla version of Cities Skyline and suddenly getting access to Cities Skyline Deluxe GOTY Edition through Nvidia. Geforce Now is the equivalent of FLAC music from Amazon and then paying AudioTechnica $10 a month for a DAC and AMP that allows you to experience that music to the highest quality. You are not paying to access anything that you haven't already paid for. Ultra textures in Batman were always available to you, regardless of your hardware.

Thread Nvidia’s GeForce Now is losing all Activision Blizzard games, a bad sign for cloud gaming
Nvidia is selling access to a virtual machine that is capable of playing video games. They are not selling access to the games because you already own the access to the games. Lets say Nvidia is a car manufacturer and that video games are a "car amusement park." Nvidia sells a lot of parts that people can put into their own cars. Those people's cars can go to the car amusement park as long as they own a pass for the park. And plenty of people already have cars that go into the park. But then Nvidia decides one day to not only sell parts, but to rent out super cars to people who want a better experience at the car amusement park. Now, when people bought the Car Amusement Park Pass, they knew that there would be some rides that their car couldn't handle unless they had a super car. And they can use the Car Amusement Park Pass if they bought a super car outright. So if Nvidia is selling you a super car that you can use at the Car Amusement Park, the very Park that you already own a Pass to, are they selling access to the park, or are they selling a better experience that Car Amusement Park Pass owners already paid for, but couldn't previously access because the car they own outright isn't as powerful?

Stadia runs on a VM pool that is grounded in Linux, so the developers of the game / Stadia need to create compatibility in the form of drivers, etc, as opposed to a VM pool that uses a stripped down version of Windows, where the drivers and compatibility already exists. So Google would have to develop a technology or system that would allow that compatibility to work without intervention from devs on either side. Or, Google would have to forgo its linux based VM clusters and spend hella money on hardware, and windows. and probably NVIDIA GPUs, etc.

I'm not talking about the hangar being boomed. They fight the dreadnaught. They begin retreating. All of the fighters return to the main cruiser (Poe implying there is a sense of urgency to do this). Then the cruiser jumps. Then the first order tracks them and jumps to them, and then their hangar is boomed, rest of the movie happens. These fighters in previous movies are used to defend the cruisers and can hyperjump with them, but yet are supposedly unable to do so in TLJ and Luke's xwing is able to do so after being in the water for who knows how long? The plots of these movies do not seem on a proper track, right? They ignore what previous movies do. TRoS does an incredibly similar thing by not mentioning the hyper space ramming when all the ships begin launching on the sith world. We know a main cruise and a hyper space ram can take out multiple ships, but suddenly its not even thought of? It's wild.

Traditionally speaking, an athlete is defined as someone who competes in a physical sport. Your analogy doesn't hold because that person isn't competing for anything. However, we do not live in an age where competing is mainly a physical act. Competitions have broadened to a point where we have people competing in cars, over chess or video games, etc. Sure, they don't require nearly as much physical exertion as football does, but these people are still dedicating their lives to competing, they have sports psychologists, coaches, teammates, leagues they play in. Why do we limit the definition of it athlete to JUST physical, tangible exertion of energy? Why does it not include the mental exertion and training that is required? Because most people do not understand the sheer energy and dedication it takes to be the best at whatever it is that you want to compete at. Because limiting the definition of athlete to only physical exertion would be to change the status quo, because they don't respect esports.

That's not to say these companies aren't responsible for sourcing their goods responsibly, but doesn't seem like this will hold up in court.

Thread Can't we all finally agree that the PC Gaming Market doesn't threaten the Console market?
This argument is on the same plain as "singleplayer games don't sell," as the entire argument revolves around this fictional notion that the game won't sell without a MTX / loot box model attached to it, which we all know is bullshit.Because Sony and Nintendo's mission is to maximize revenue in a very specific way that involves hardware, software, and their own ecosystem. They want to be able to control every aspect of it. Not to mention that it probably saves them millions of dollars because they only need to develop for one platform, rather than a secondary one that involves millions of configurations. And it's okay that their philosophy is different. But it is complete and utter bullshit that they would suddenly feel forced to change how these exclusives are monetized because an extra platform is introduced, and thus ruing the quality of their exclusives. Not every game and company set out wanting MTX and loot boxes in their game, despite that historically the data pretty much says you can make hella fucking money with those models.

Thread Can't we all finally agree that the PC Gaming Market doesn't threaten the Console market?
You're missing the fact that every sale on a storefront that isn't Sony's is whatever percentage less revenue as well, and yet they still sell on those platforms and MTX is nowhere to be found. You're missing the fact that there are hundreds of singleplayer games that don't have MTX in them, and ones from even this year alone that has done incredibly well (one even won the GOTY award) without having that monetization model added to it. What you guys are assuming is that 1. If the exclusives become available on PC, it MUST be on Steam a. if it is on Steam it MUST have MTX, because now they are losing millions in revenue and MUST make up for it And yet plenty of singleplayer games don't have these models attached to them and sometimes soley exist on the Steam store.

And that's the thing about computers! They are complicated! When they aren't locked down like a console is, they can have a plethora of issues that in some cases require extensive troubleshooting and the root cause could range from anything like a cable to the operating system! Disclaimer: I'm not platform warring, just making a point that PCs can have some really troublesome issues. It will always be a mileage may vary scenario with them, and if you're not interested in that, consoles provide end-users with a more stable experience.

Thread Can't we all finally agree that the PC Gaming Market doesn't threaten the Console market?
What metric is this based on? You understand the reason why consoles even exist is because of convenience, no? Having the games be available on PC does not, in the long run, prevent growth of the Sony ecosystem, because PCs will ALWAYS have a barrier of entry that includes but is not limited toLet's be honest here. Building a gaming PC is easy assuming you know what you need and just look up a YouTube video. Owning a computer can be pretty simple too. But building it takes time, and troubleshooting issues you face also takes time. You also have to choose which platform you own the majority of games on, install that platform, set it up, and hope that shit don't break for you because of your particular configuration. Consoles are - you buy it, you plug it in, you pay for game, play it. thats it. The reason why PS4 Pro exists is to lure people in who are thinking of getting a PC for 4k gaming and say "hey, for $500 you can get this cheap and convenient almost 4k option"There are game stores that exist with games that aren't on Steam that plenty of people buy from. I don't get the point here.

The rest of us got our units sent to the offices or home to play and they even told us before launch that we would not be able to play the full multiplayer of all the games aside from the few playtests done with other reviewers that were organized. And it turns out that reason that happened was because the multiplayer portion of the collection was completely broken. IGN mentioned that the multiplayer was broken and gave the game a 9/10. Like, how does that scoring even work? Multiplayer is equally important if not more than the singleplayer.

Completely depends on your workflow. If you are well within the apple ecosystem and utilize final cut pro for your business and other creative apps to render and compile, you would use this machine to greatly reduce time spent waiting for it finish. And lets not forget that tons of industries and individuals utilize mac os and mac exclusive applications (or applications that just run better on Mac) for their businesses. tons of people keep saying its underpowered, the clock speed is awful, you can price out a PC that does more, but let me tell you, just cause your PC has top of the line specs, especially in an enterprise environment, doesn't mean windows is going to play nice and not shit the bed, which it often does, hence why I'm even employed. This machine is not made for a consumer. This machine is not made to replace your companies personal infrastructure that has been most likely highly customized and specifically designed and optimize for the business. This machine is made for very specific people who know what they need and probably recognize that this is a lot cheaper and convenient and TIME SAVING to buy as opposed to paying Dell 80k for a rack that does less and requires an excessive amount of knowledge to troubleshoot.

I'm glad you lot brought this up, because I actually have a theory behind this. Since I believe game streaming will be fleshed out within this next generation, and then continue to be widely adopted, I think one of two things will happen for ISPs. Packages are offered that allow game streaming with zero caps. The immense pressure to lift caps from companies who do game streaming and consumers gets to a boiling point and ISPs either lift the cap, offer the streaming service as an exception, or in Google's case, they simply fast track their plan to build out their own infrastructure to offer people no caps.

Thread [VG247] Google Stadia is the future of gaming, whether you like it or not
I think ultimately it will come down to how fleshed out these systems are by the end of the next generation. I mean we could really get to that point where majority of titles are streamed and the hardware offered is only for the streaming. This is in my opinion the next big thing. When Apple came out with the first iPhone, tons of people were like “lol no one will use this” etc etc. And they literally brought into life the smartphone market. I’m not saying Stadia is on that level. They are more like the PDAs that sucked that inspired Apple to make the iPhone. Microsoft is absolutely viewing the launch and what is wrong with it and making sure they get it right, cause if they do, they will have something game changing.

Like all things, take the iPhone for example, time is the true factor in whether or not game streaming will be successful. It will truly depend on the service providers to not only break down barriers, but envy as much as possible to entice wide spread adoption.

I’m not a fan of their pricing model, I’m not a fan of how they communicated their development, and it’s perfectly valid for people to have complaints about the game. I take issue with is this prevailing sentiment that Star Citizen has now made $250 million in backing and has done fuck all with it. The technology behind this game is not anywhere else. It (from what I’ve read and understand) is the first of its kind on a such a massive scale. Yet somehow the idea that it is a scam just keeps being pushed. I remember when people said this game would be cancelled and the money never refunded EVERY SINGLE YEAR after it was first announced. And yet. Here we are. Multiple worlds. A Blade Runner Star Wars inspired city world. Multiple Star Ports. Fully fleshed our ships with individual mechanics. And it keeps going. I think its because I have a verified tag and people know me, so they think I either have something dumb to say or something really good to say and that leads them to spam shit. In my effort to avoid bullshit, i sorta derailed the thread, which sucks. Anyways, lets not continue this discussion and focus back on topic.

Thread It's Trans Awareness Week! (Nov 13th -19th)
So, let me go through and answer the questions I posed earlier last night regarding this issue and see if we've progressed. --"I was assured by someone on the team who I deeply trust and is LGBT that the claim that this statement and the person who made them were against asexuals was incorrect and a misunderstanding."See aboveGiven reason post unban is that user violated a staff safe space.User unbanned. Not answered, but clearly reversed due to public outcry. This is unknown. Per Robin, 30 minutes elapsed from the original post being published to the user being banned. Ket then states "throughout this investigation that occurred, or informed what any of these suspicions were actually about, so as of this moment, I am still unaware of what they are and unable to comment on them." The investigation does not seem to have involved Ket up until very recently. Also unknown. Moderation as alluded to certain terminology being used as evidence, but that doesn't seem to suffice. NEXT STEPS: "We're taking this moment to listen, and we have reached out to the TransEra community to open direct dialogue about how we can all move forward and heal together. " -- Additionally, the moderation team has not admitted any wrongdoing at all, only acknowledging that the timing of the post and the bannable offense aligned and made things look unpleasant, sending "the wrong message."

No, they are not moderators. They are only determining if a ban is warranted. They take no part in thread locks, user warning, etc. Additionally, your point about it being jury duty and how that has worked out for us is absolute trash. This isn't jury duty because it isn't court.

I agree with everything else cept this. Having the pool change means that staff are required to consistently onboard people and explain how to effectively determine if a ban is warranted. There needs to be a panel of people who are dedicated to doing this, following guidelines that have been created by staff and other members to a T.

We get it, you think the mod team does enough for the LGBT community, quite literally the majority of people who are participating in this thread, along with the trans era community, including former administrators, do not agree with your trash take. Why don't you spend more time listening rather than downplaying the issue like you're doing?

I want more than just an implication and assumption because it will communicate to me and probably more people how willing they are to admit fuck ups and change going forward. Assuming their guilt is just going to close doors rather than opening them. We are here in this thread to discuss how moderation has failed in their purpose regarding LGBT community. And the only reason we are here is because WE CARE. So let’s be productive about it. I’m not interested in implied guilt. I want them to communicate yes or no.

It is based on context that the user in question mentioned vaguely and in passing a moderator who expressed a discriminatory viewpoint. This would qualify as a whistleblower. This is such a weird stance to take given the context. Do you support Snowden being permanently barred from re-entering the U.S. because he ousted wrongdoing by the administration? It's obviously a much bigger situation but it shares many aspects. Don't punish whistleblowers. How does that justify the ban, and how is this relevant? It's not.You don't have any reason to doubt the moderation after the absolute shit show that has occurred over night? Okay.

Reposting what I said in the trans awareness thread: Hello, Someone messaged me to bring this to my attention. As I understand the situation, a leading community figure in the trans era community was banned for mentioning that chats exist regarding a moderator who expressed discrimination of Asexuals in a private staff-run Discord server/channel. Most importantly, the allegation alleges that this discrimination was not challenged and even agreed with by other(s). Below are a list of questions I request Administration to answer as best as possible to allow a cleaner discussion regarding the issue. With the way that it is currently framed, you have someone who is essentially a whistleblower that became banned BECAUSE they brought forth issues with moderation and discrimination against Asexuals. I want to believe that Era is not this forum of dog shit. I want to believe that all of these Twitter messages I get are wrong, and this place is a safe space for progressive thinking and inclusiveness. Currently, I'm not so sure. P.S. Lets not do what some people do in the LGBT+ community and talk about how you're part of the community and then belittle and discriminate against the other letters that it stands for.

As you suggested, it would have to restricted to a format and require a certain level of evidence, etc. Regarding the second part - Maybe? I love my job as an incident manager because it is problem solving, and I love doing that. I'd do it on my free time. I'm sure people like me exist who would like to look into things on behalf of the community and report on such issues to resolve them. We want this place to be the best that it can be.

I understand that all of the staff here are volunteers, but I'd wager if you are staff, you should be capable of essentially removing yourself and only act within guidelines and context set by the situation and site. And of course people aren't going to be pleased 100%, but it feels like without such threads as the one in EtcEra right now, voices go unheard because it is all directed to the "Contact Us" page.

I appreciate your attempt to empathize but you have said it yourself. It doesn't matter. I've outlined the things I want staff to answer regarding this issue. Until these questions are answered, this situation lives on as vague and mishandled. Your goal should be to provide action that speaks volumes about support for LGBT+.

I would love to write an official incident report on this. Would make this entire situation a lot cleaner if what actually happened was documented and written up. Then people can read it and see what actually is happening.Of course, I know I have a history on Era with some pretty bad EGS takes and the occasional fuck up of posting banned content, but I would people know that they can trust me to back them up when human rights are being fucking questioned. That shit don't fly with me.Of course.

If you're not told that w/e your mindset was that allowed you to think that you could publish articles like was wrong, how the hell are you going to own up to that fuck up and apologize for it? I don't know why they published it, but clearly the person who signed off on it was looking at it in a way that didn't raise alarms. Sometimes you have to be recalibrated by being called out. That's just a weird thing to say. Of course if you get backlash you're more inclined to apologize. It's a bunch of people saying "hey this is fucked up and weird and really really wrong!"

My point being is that many of the arguments made here and in the past on other threads and more have this idea that if you publish some shitty pieces and later admit that you got it wrong, you're forever trash. Kotaku isn't owed your readership, and just because they say they are sorry doesn't mean that they are owed closure. But I find it troubling that a lot of people that share your mindset have a "this publication is trash" threshold of two articles that were apologized for and retracted AND kept up, because Kotaku is right, deleting them from the internet wouldn't make sense. It's insane to me to think that objectively they are trash when they have something like a 10 to 1 ratio of incredible articles that you don't see anywhere else about the games industry.
