Can’t say I’m surprised, if not a tad bit sad. This season was a mess with players either self evicting or getting thrown out by production. It has only been on the air for 3 weeks and so far 4 people had been forcibly ejected / or removed themselves from the game. I went to the taping of the premiere episode, one of only two live audiences all season. RIP BBCAN8, you were doomed from the start.

I also thought the cube exiting/crashing was cool. The VFX (on a TV show no less) being at a point to be able to portray a story moment like that without having to cut away to people 'watching it happen off screen', resulting in a sequence which also has a "holy shit" factor is impressive. It a cool moment, a borg cube breaking the atmosphere during that moment was something we hadn't seen in trek, and was almost reminiscent of the BSG "Adama Maneuver", which, guess what, was also . If you want to take the VFX acumen of this show for granted, that's cool, too, totally your right, but the fact that the writers/creators of Picard can actually show moments like that on a modern day TV show is impressive and, somewhat unexpected. Is that enough of an explanation for you as to why I thought 6 seconds of footage was "cool"?

Thread Tesla kicked out of fatal "autopilot" crash investigation by NTSB (Up: Tesla to complain to congess)
How do you propose it gets out of beta then? Autopilot has billions upon billions of miles driven purely from informed drivers WILLFULLY participating in the program which has led to the incredible leaps that Tesla has been able to make with the software itself. It is not perfect. I have had my fair share of ghost braking moments when going under an underpass on an overly bright day, but guess what? I was paying attention, and I continue to pay attention while using the feature. I am always prepared to take over for the car - - at a moments notice. Imagine how much in this world wouldn't exist if we didn't test it en masse first. Autopilot has been around since 2012. Eight years of testing. How many AP accidents have led to an actual death? - one of which being the one this thread is discussing. ( I wouldn't be surprised if we dug into news stories surrounding the other four, that there were probably circumstances that were unavoidable. Much like where a truck crossed a highway and slowed down in a way where the Tesla couldn't stop/avoid.) I wouldn't even consider this one an AP accident because - checks notes - he was on his fucking phone.

One could say that experimental medical procedures, clinical drug trials, or Genetically altered foodstuffs (meat/vegs) could fit that bill. They did exactly that, and also opened it up to fleet use for those who were aware of the early testing phases when it first became available on the Model S. Even when they did hardware revisions from AP1 to AP2 they had a very large information campaign for owners that certain features didn't make it to the new version and were still under testing / not performing as expected.Darwinism is a thing that exists. You can't save everyone from themselves.

Thread Tesla kicked out of fatal "autopilot" crash investigation by NTSB (Up: Tesla to complain to congess)
If you're seriously defending someone willfully using their cellphone and FULLY diverting their attention from driving a 2400kg tank down a highway at 80mph to play a cellphone game while sitting in the drivers seat by saying "but its beta", then man, I don't know what to say. There are plenty of responsible Tesla owners out there (myself included) who know wtf the feature is and how it works. And honestly, I bet the driver did too, and he took advantage of what is most of the time a pretty safe feature, and he lost that gamble.. I would imagine a lot of this fallout and outrage is coming from his family not fully understanding how it worked and trying to find ways to not accept that their own family member wasn't being anything less than a perfect driver. If he took the time to complain about Autopilot in that specific area multiple times to Tesla, he knew how it worked. Plain and simple. It is not full autonomy, and owners know that, if you purchase the upgrade, the delivery specialists make it a VERY important point to inform you of that and how the feature works, how you need to be aware at all times and that it DOES NOT absolve you of being responsible while behind the wheel. You can either a) not buy the upgrade b) not use it if you really wouldn't want to use a 'beta' feature. It is not forced on you in any way during your drive.

I don't need to spend more on a gas car when I have an EV at home. If I'm on vacation, get me from A to B and that's all I need. Thread U.S. will look at sudden acceleration complaints involving 500,000 Tesla vehicles
Muscle memory is a hell of a thing though, when I first got my 3, I did a very similar thing and had the same experience of the car moving forward (seemingly) on its own. Turned out I had mistaken hold mode for park and accidentally pressed the accelerator pedal with the tip of my foot as I was exiting the car. Likewise, I had to rent a gas car recently and I got out and walked away without shutting the thing off or locking the doors because that's what the 3 does automatically for me. You don't realize things you're doing in a brand new vehicle with a completely different system for starting/stopping/shifting and its easy to go blind to the things you're 'used to', even after a 15 minute test drive. It took me three full days to fully get used to my model 3 when I got it, and even after that there was a long period of learning to trust the car (autopilot) and figuring out the ins-and-outs of how the thing moved and operated under normal conditions.

This is more likely than not user error on her part, the car likely had creep mode on (to mimic the driving style of a standard ICE vehicle), and she probably thought she depressed the park button the stalk deep enough but probably only half clicked it and didn't actually put the vehicle in park (similar to the other stalk if you manually press on the windshield wiper)

HEROES comics in London. I once bought the Walking Dead Compendium vol 1 and 2 from them for retail price for a Christmas gift, after about 20 minutes I had checked amazon.ca and noticed they had both volumes at half off, essentially 2-for-1. So I returned to the store, knowing they wouldn't match the 50% off, asking if they'd at least meet me half way and give back the taxes and maybe an extra 10 bucks (so about 25% off). The clerk got extremely defensive and said "NO. You're supporting child labor when you buy from amazon". I said, well, then I'd like to return the books, and he then responded with "We don't do refunds on books". Keeping in mind this is a comic shop, and they have no posted signs stating that they don't offer refunds on books, I point it out and asked where this policy is posted. He then ripped the bag from my hands and said "You've clearly read these, I can't give you a refund." I said "You sold these to me 20 minutes ago, how could I read two 400 page volumes?" He then said "Well we don't give refunds, but whatever, I don't wanna see your fuckin' face in here again, go kill some more stores by shopping online." He threw the $80 at me and I haven't stepped foot inside the store since, as even though they had some cool stuff, there's no way in hell I'm supporting a store that has that kind of attitude towards staying competitive/maintaining what was a repeat customer (I'd bought a ton from them in the past, too)... This was about 6 years ago. And truth be told, chances are high he went right onto amazon and bought the same books on discount to re-sell in the store at full MSRP.

Thread Trailer for "Downhill" - a (very unnecessary) Americanized remake of "Force Majeure" with Ferrell & Louis-Dreyfus
So this is a straight up remake of one of the best dark-comedy films of the 2010s, Force Majeure a film that had subtle Kubrick undertones and a stellar amount of tension that made anyone who had ever been in a long-term relationship identify with one side of the argument the film presented, but the question was, which side were you on? Now, we have the trailer (above) that follows the storyline of the original, but seems to forego any of the tension and seriousness that the original film provided. Who knows, maybe this is all the 'comedy' bits thrown together for the sake of the first trailer / North American audiences, but unless Ferrell is pulling out another dramatic performance here on the level of "Stranger than Fiction", I fear for this remake's ability to capture the essence of the original. Its been done before, look at Vanilla Sky as a remake of Open Your Eyes, it did it well (and is one of my favourite films), and I'm hopeful this first trailer for Downhill doesn't represent a complete tonal shift. Compare the two trailers, which would you rather watch?

No, no, you see, when Sidious willed Anakin into existence and then when he built 3P0 during episode 1, he prenatally manipulated the midichlorians in Anakin's body to subconsciously add in the anti-with translation subroutine back in Watto's shop. IT WAS HIS PLAN ALL ALONG, jeez, aren't you paying attention? Palpy was playing the REAL long game on that one.

They repeated the line "The first order wants you to think no one was listening" a couple times. I wonder if that was supposed to infer that they blocked the signal on Crait and made the Resistance think the message was received and no one had heard them? When in fact, Lando going out and asking was the support they probably would have gotten had the First Order not blocked it?

All the Leia scenes were rough, you could tell they were writing dialog around what they had in the name of exposition. "I'm gonna go with or without your blessing!" >"No." "Too bad, I'm going!" >Leia stares blankly. Also, the... second time Leia gives the saber to Rey (just before she leaves on her solo adventures), the arms were digitally added, the match move wasn't done perfectly and it appeared slightly off.

Thread Is there any way I can build a PC that will allow me to edit 4K video (After Effects) and do medium-high to high quality gaming for under $1k?
You can edit 4K video on a number of low-spec machines as long as your footage is in a proper editing codec. Something like Pro Res 422 Proxy, DNxHD, or GoPro Cineform all perform exceptionally well in Adobe suites, but come with the cost of higher file sizes. Codecs like H264 or any MPEG4 based encoding can be edited in premiere, but require stronger CPUs because of how the compression handles B-Frames and seeking within a file. Also, you shouldn't be EDITING in After Effects, thats' what Premiere Pro is for.

Thread Koalas ‘Functionally Extinct’ After Australia Bushfires Destroy 80% Of Their Habitat
I was in australia in august and went to a few koala hospitals and sanctuaries, they had mentioned the whole "functionally extinct" stuff was mostly fodder for politicians, and they were merely referencing the koalas that lived around populated areas, as residential development was cutting down many eucalyptus trees. Koala's are notoriously picky in terms of which leaves and trees they will eat from, so these wildfires probably affected the remaining trees in developed areas. The hospital said that the koala population in the rest of AUS was doing well, but real estate expansion was a major cause of habitat loss. I imagine these fires are not helping, either :(

I too am doing this, and watched AOTC tonight. I had completely forgotten that grevious wasn't part of AOTC and kept wondering 'how the fuck did they squeeze him into this movie, it's almost over' - then I realized my memory had melded EP2 and 3 together into one unforgettable mess. Also, padme going from "Don't look at me like that, it makes me uncomfortable" with creepy leering anakin to "I love you, madly, deeply." within the span of a week, AFTER he admitted to killing an entire camp of sand people (women and kids included) is.. a stretch. Also, I dunno if it's just 4k/hdr upscales of disney plus, but this scene did NOT look this bad on my TV at all, so maybe it's GIF compression reducing the colours to 128 that exaggerates the flat lighting here, but yeah.. Its not as egregious as this makes it out to be. That said, the CG definitely did NOT hold up well at all.

xbox seems fine. I also have a ps4 pro and I noticed video will freeze within the first 30 seconds while audio continues and then eventually it will skip back to where it froze and play normally from there on out. This also happens on my standard ps4 as well. I assume it has something to do with the app not choosing the proper quality of stream and the switch between transcodes isn’t as seamless as Netflix’ implementation.

The same damn thing happened last election, no one expected a Liberal majority based on the polls because it's all BS. The same thing is happening here. All these outlets can manufacture a dead heat to play into whatever narratives they want, but at the end of the day, they all end up 50/50 or close to that with a slight lean toward their publication's political ideology.

HFR in film requires a complete rethink on lighting (Watch the hobbit BTS docs and you'll see how everything is super bright). The higher the framerate, the less time an individual frame is exposed on the CCD / film, so 24fps does indeed make a difference, especially in low or dramatic lit scenes.

I think what kind of bothered me throughout the planning phase of getting 52+ kids out was "how the fuck are they gonna fit everyone in the plane". We saw in a previous season that getting a plane in and out of Gilead was difficult, even for a small crop duster, and yet here we are with a literal airbus landing in an airfield with zero resistance (and a singular guard), and able to take off without any sort of countermeasures? A "Staff meeting" can only go so far to divert attention away from it, but having an open airfield big enough to support a full-sized jet (regional or otherwise) with zero staff onhand to notify people of a plane landing is a bit of a stretch of suspension of disbelief, considering the rules the show itself established in previous seasons. Likewise, if they're going door-to-door to find a single lost child, and presumably the other 50 or so children are also missing, how did no one think to a) go check on their own kid b) if they were all drugged or passed out too, how did the people conducting the search not break down a door when no one answered? Finally, the roaming search party scene in the woods with the searchlight.. I was eyerolling at how blatantly they were missing the swarm of people moving by. Even in dark conditions, that light would have some falloff, and with all the girls WEARING PINK, your eye would catch some movements (and you know, point the light down a foot or two!). The finale was fine, but there were so many plot contrivances / matters of convenience during the escape where I checked out.

Again, I'm a monster :P If 'consumerism' and capitalism are the enemy, then all I'm trying to do is make the best possible choices I can given my own personal situation. I still believe individual contributions do matter, and am hopeful that corporations and governments will pick up the other end of the rope before its too late. For everyone who says that no matter what we're doomed, all I can hope for is that sense of dread can be turned into something actionable, something that you can use to spur real change via whatever means are available to you, like voting based on ideals that match your own. And with that, I'm exiting the thread. I have stated (and defended) my viewpoint and been called toxic for it, I've been told that all my choices don't matter, and how dare I be affluent enough to afford the ability to make the choices I have, and therefore I must be holier than thou... but hey, that's the nature of the internet.

And your awareness of your own situation, the steps you've taken to do what you can, is likely more than most people have done. You're taking the steps you can and I applaud you on it. I'm also not going to tell you that you could be doing more, because clearly you're doing what you can in your own situation. You are in the right mindset for meaningful change, and as I said before, any change, even small ones, will add up into something bigger. If more people had the outlook and mindfulness of their own usage like you do, then actual change will be made for good.

Very. And It is not (and was not) my intent on telling people how to spend their money or what to prioritize in their own lives, but it does go back to my first post in this thread: A lot of people will comment and say "we should do something", and then don't. This isn't exclusive to climate change - this applies to politics / voting / gun control, you name it. The one thing I've recognized in my life that I can do to have a (hopefully) positive change in the world is being energy conscious. I choose to dedicate what disposable income I have to try and reduce my carbon footprint, to try and at least know that I'm doing whatever the hell I can in that regard. No one is perfect, and in a thread about the effects of climate change I've chosen to be passionate about it. It's clearly rubbed people the wrong way, but that is also part of the larger problem. There are posters in this thread that have essentially singled defeatism that the only meaningful change can come from governments and corporations -- sure they will make a bigger impact, absolutely, but individual contributions are a huge component of permanent change. Corporations come and go, government policies change and laws and regulations get undone at the swipe of a pen, but if you make the choice personally to be more eco-responsible, it lasts more than the four years of any government's stay in power.

I don't disagree and I'm not blind to that fact, but I think the whole "I can't afford it therefore I choose not to do it" argument is an unfortunately flawed one. A lot of people can't afford a lot of things, but if you manage to make even a small change when possible, it will eventually cascade into a bigger change down the line. I didn't switch my home over to all the smart shit overnight, it took years of buying one plug here or one plug there instead of getting myself some shitty fast food for dinner. Keep an eye on sales for LED lights, look for incentives to help lessen the burden of cost - if you're serious about helping and don't want to just armchair comment (and I am NOT saying that applies to anyone here / in this thread), then the effort should be made.

Everything but the electric car /applicance switchover can be done on a modest budget. LED bulbs aren't that expensive, simple smart plugs can be had for $20 -- throw one of those ahead of a $10 powerbar that you plug your tv/console/pc into and you're on your way. Not sure what my financial situation has to do with anything, just be conscious of your consumption, do your best to reduce it, and it will fucking help.

Says the person on the internet forum, what steps have you personally taken to curb global warming? (not an attack, it's an actual question) I've: - Replaced all bulbs with LEDs - Set all major electronics and vampire draining tech to be on killswitches when not in use (smart plugs to fully block power drain) - Replaced the entirety of my appliances with energy efficient ones - Utilize rain barrels to reduce water consumption - Own an electric vehicle I'm working towards solar as my main source of energy as well, but that's an affordability thing. Far too many people say "We should do something" but then proceed to live their life thinking individual choices don't matter, but they do, because the less we end up using, the less needs to be generated and hopefully it all trickles back upward.

That link is for Tesla Superchargers only (meaning, only Teslas can use them) I honestly have visited a supercharger station in Ontario maybe... three times in the last 9 months? I charge at home mostly with my wall charger, or like I said before, at work with the standard wall outlet in the parking garage. I'm not sure why its assumed that teslas -must- charge at superchargers and only superchargers. If its your only option for charging your battery, then yeah it might be tough to own an EV, but most of the time you can find opportunity charging or destination chargers much much easier. I recommend looking at and entering in "toronto" and you'll see just how many places there actually are to 'fill up'.

That's when you charge at home, or, alternatively, use literally any other non-supercharger station in your local area. I plug into a standard wall outlet at work every day in the parking garage, by the end of the business day I've gained more range than it took to get to work and back. Tesla's aren't limited to superchargers, you get a great little adapter bag with your vehicle that lets you use the J22 plugs, and you can get an optional ChaDeMo adapter if needed, as well as the aforementioned mobile charger (which works on a standard plug, or a bigger 50a dryer outlet) that come with the vehicle.

I can only assume the 3 has the same longevity as the rest of their lineup. When I purchased mine last year, I sprung for EAP (Enhanced Autopilot), which is no longer offered - its kind of a mid ground between standard autopilot and full self driving. So I get everything but stopsign/stoplight recognition at this point. I do not regret getting autopilot in the slightest. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I went to Washington DC last year, and my return trip was in one day. I did 22 hours straight in that car, and I'd say 98% had autopilot enabled. When I was driving through West Virginia (country roads...), it started pouring rain REALLY hard to the point where I couldn't see 20 feet ahead of me. I had Autopilot enabled and it was not only able to keep me in my lane (at speed), it was also able to see the cars ahead/beside/behind me that my own eyes couldn't. AP got me home safe and as long as you trust your car (including when to stop and charge and for how long), you're fine. I intend to have this car for at least 10 years, or until a new Tesla strikes my fancy (After this one is paid off, of course lol), so definitely in it for the long haul and am never going back to a non-Tesla vehicle at this point.

I did get the LR as it was the only one available before the ontario EV rebate ran out. I'm in London, and did a couple of London > toronto > london trips and while in the summer I could do it without stopping to charge, I had to make a couple stops in the winter as a result. You basically lose 50% of your range in winter, so a 510km battery nets you about 260km or less, so the extra capacity is extremely well worth it. the colder it gets, the worse you fare. I was at a concert in Toronto in December, had about 220km left on the battery, when we left toronto it was -2C, by the time we exited the 403 at woodstock, it was -20C and I had to stop and charge for 30 mins as my battery said there was only 60km left and I wouldn't have made it home. That said, I've done numerous long distance trips (London > Ottawa and back, London > Washington DC and back) and my range anxiety is completely gone. It takes a bit to get used to but once you've figured out the limits that you're comfortable with, it's no different than planning gas station stops. It's more than a few bucks: Ran some numbers having my Model 3 for a year: 05/17-05/18 = $1020.98 in fuel for my 06 Mazda 3 Drove just shy of 10K km = $0.10/km 06/18-06/19 = $338.91 in electricity ($173.71 Super Charging, $165.20 Home Charging) Drove just shy of 20K km = $0.016/km I'm happy to save $700 annually or more, dunno 'bout you.

Thread So I had an visual migraine and it was really weird.
My migraines are , I get them when the barometric pressure has wild swings (usually spring/fall when it goes hot to cold to hot again real quick). My migraines usually always consist of the following events: 1) My vision becomes filled with starbursts (similar to the OP's 'visual migraine') that make it seem like I can see through things. Think: Spot-blindness. 2) Either my left or right hand will go numb / tingly. If my left hand goes numb, about 20 minutes later, my opposite leg will go numb, so in this case, it'd be my right leg. 3) The numbness in my hand and leg will go away, and my tongue will start to tingle like coming out from freezing at the dentist. This is usually the last step before the worst happens... 4) I lose the ability to properly speak and form sentences, and while I can talk, I speak about what I'm visualizing in my mind. For instance, when someone called the house, I was asked who it was, I responded with "the man with the hand". When pressed for further info, I said "The man with the phone in his hand" -- because in my mind I was picturing someone holding a phone to his head. After this point, If I hadn't made my way to bed, I pretty much need to lay down and pass out, as I'll get chills if I don't. My migraines are and Thankfully I don't get them as often as an adult any more, they were the worst in my teens/early 20s. Because of this thread, it was the first time I saw - and man, my list checks out:

Any time I write out a shot description, or work on a piece of key art, its playing - fully realized - in my mind's eye. The real task is being skilled enough to put it on a screen as close as possible to how I saw it in my head. This is me, too, but I hear the voices, and "see" it as if its being shot through a lens with proper cinematography. Its great too when you read a book that they're making a movie out of, and you've seen say, a trailer or know who's been cast, you can just imagine those people in the roles as you read it :D

7/10 for me. Every move in the film was predictable, and when your main character is invincible, it kills any kind of meaningful stakes or tension in the film. At least superman has kryptonite. If she’s the one who ends up taking down Thanos in End Game I’m not gonna be happy. Spend a decade building a cinematic universe only to have deus ex marvel come in to save the day at the 11th hour. Humour was alright. Music was 90s goodness but not done as masterfully as guardians.

Honestly not too bad. The wemo app is really good and it integrates with Nest, so they already talk to each other. Most of it is plug and play with the exception of the light switches, but it’s mostly straight forward to install if you’re comfortable doing low level electrical work. Otherwise it all pretty much just syncs up. I have done DHCP reservations for all my devices, so my home network and IP ranges are nice and tidy. I just picked up four wemo mini plugs for some more home entertainment and Christmas tree light control, probably gonna get a handful more for some other random plugs but I’m nearing a saturation point of having almost every outlet connected now, lol.

I am a sucker for home automation, here is my current setup: 1) Nest Thermostat (2nd gen) - in my dining room / kitchen area, controls all the temperatures. 2) 3x Nest Protects (2nd gen) - one on each floor (basement/main/upper), ties in with my thermostat to sense if I'm home /movement on floors in which the thermostat can't see us. 3) Belkin Wemo Light Switches & Smart Plugs - I've got three smart plugs ,two of which are insight plugs, that allow me to monitor energy usage on my home computer and entertainment centers, I've also got upwards of 11 Wemo light switches and dimmers installed throughout the house, which allow me to remotely activate/schedule lights when I'm away, or any other reason. 4) Philips Hue - All my exterior bulbs are RGB philips hue bulbs, as well as my main chandelier in the entry way. All outside facing lights are color tintable, which is great for holidays or directing people to find my place. I've also got some hue lightstrips in my home theater setup behind my tv, but they don't get used as often. Need to upgrade to a hue 2.0 bridge before I try to integrate that into any live viewing light setups. 5) Chamberlain Homelink enabled Garage doors - It will integrate with my eventual Tesla Model 3, and it also has an app to control and monitor the door state. All the above are IFTTT compatible, so they will all speak to eachother. Future purchases Nest Cam Outdoor IQ (x2) for the front of the house. Nest Cam Outdoor - for the backyard gate area. Nest Hello Doorbell ------- I'm still debating on which voice activation to run with, if I do amazon, google, or apple. I'm leaning towards apple since all my network appliances are airport extreme and expresses, it will probably integrate much better. all 4 hue

Thread The Avengers 4 "Theory" Thread (Unmarked Infinity War / MCU Spoilers within!)
Like many of you, I saw Infinity War last night and was blown away by the sheer storytelling within the film. And, as it is the culmination of 10 years of films, happened. WARNING: Let me rephrase, a lot of happened. When Infinity War was first announced, it was announced as two films - this changed over the period of shooting the two films back to back, to the point where in May 2019, we are getting the next installment of the Avengers series that may or may not be a direct continuation of this film. The ending to Infinity War was very much an "Empire Strikes Back" moment for the series, where the bad guys have seemingly won. Our heroes are decimated and popular characters that you didn't expect to perish, did just that. It also felt like a season finale cliffhanger to a favorite TV show, and immediately, my brain started formulating theories and potential outcomes for the next film. I thought it might be fun to have a thread for all of us to post our wild rampant theories, and look back on it next year to see who was right, wrong, or close. Avengers 4 will be a Tony Stark Revenge plot. After seeing Peter die in front of him, he returns home to find that Pepper has also vanished. This sets him on a course to find Thanos and, more specifically, the time stone so that he can reverse what happened (As evidented by Strange saying that "this is the only way" prior to his death). In Infinity War, when Thanos wanted the Soul stone, he had to sacrifice Gamora. My over-arching theory is that, by the end of Avengers 4, Tony will have to make a similar sacrifice to use the time stone: He will need to reverse time so far back, to the very beginning (Iron Man 1), so that everyone lives. But in doing so, the life he knows, the people he's met, and the bonds hes formed, never come to pass. The price he pays is losing his love (Pepper), his friends (Avengers), and his fortune (his business). This allows for Marvel to reboot / tell alternative storylines within the MCU and not be bogged down by existing contracts or actors who are done with their roles. The big hole in my theory is that it potentially erases the entire MCU in one fell swoop, and makes all the previous films essentially non-existent. So while not iron clad, I think some form of Tony's sacrifice will require him to not be a part of what he has built. Anyway, post your theories, break mine apart, have some shawarma, that's the point of this thread! Let's see what happens on May 3rd, 2019.

Jump up superstar is horrible and annoying, I don't need lyrics in my mario music, thanks. Considering the lyrics of the song are essentially an advertisement for the game and mario's abilities in general, it's just.. ugh. "I'm making a switch" .. Seriously?! Cascade Kingdom / Main theme didn't really have as much as a catchy hook to it that other titles did to make it a memorable song. The entirety of the soundtracks for the Classic games (SMB1,2,3,SMW) are amazing, but there is in odyssey that comes close to Bomb-Omb Battlefield (Mario 64) And thats just three songs off the top of my head, each of those games have a huge selection of amazing and memorable music. The music in Mario games, for me at least, is just as big a part of the gameplay experience as the level design and progression is... and Odyssey failed hard in the music department, imo.

Visit an airport and get your retinas scanned and you’re set. I drove to the states last weekend and on the way into the US they simply asked “anything to declare?” I said “no” and they sent me on my way. No questions on how long I was going to be gone or where I was going. Coming home 4 days later, the border guard said “are you the only one in the car?” I said “yes”. She said have a good night. I have a model 3. I thankfully was able to submit my rebate a few months prior to the cancellation and should be receiving it in the first week of September. I am not rich. My model 3 came to $80k after taxes. That 14k+1k car and charger rebate makes the thing affordable. Most Tesla’s are insanely cost prohibitive. I could never in my life see myself spending 100k+ on a car, but the idea of saving gas and zero emissions made the price tag something I worked out to budget for. It's awkward, funny, scary, uncomfortable, and endearing all at once. Its in limited release, but holy hell if its playing anywhere near you, go see it. It's written and directed by Bo Burnham, who is a musical comedian - although none of that is present in this film - and started his career on the internet. He had a short lived TV show on MTV called Zach Stone is Gonna be Famous, which was also pretty amazing. If you go to - it shows that the account has two tweets. Well, this is not the case These were mysteriously deleted: Ontario News Now @OntarioNewsNow Breaking news at this hour. @Ryan_Lever has been fired from his job at Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel in Sudbury. Ontario News Now @OntarioNewsNow BREAKING: @Ryan_Lever served as a dishwasher at Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel in Sudbury before being fired today. Thread Tesla Model 3 |OT| Shoot into Space if Old
So apparently they've opened up referral codes and shit to people who own a Model 3, and you can use them on performance model 3's, model x, or model s, for free supercharging. I'm gonna post mine here (hopefully not against rules!) if anyone is thinking of ordering a Performance 3, at least this way you get free supercharging for the life of the car!

Steppenwolf did absolutely nothing in this film, the whole thing was a meandering bore fest. Gadot was good, Flash was tolerable... The Pet Sematary references were good, though... and the classic Elfman/William cues.

Thread Couples share the fight that ended their marriages. What ended yours?
Her wanting kids immediately, and me wanting to wait a few years to build up a bit of a nest egg. This was after a 14 year relationship of both of us agreeing we didn’t want kids. The line that killed it was: “what’s more important. Our relationship or a kid?” Which was responded to by her with: “A kid. What’s more important. Me getting an abortion one day or this relationship?” I was willing to compromise, but she had already turned on me and started saying I was hiding things (I wasnt). She stole our dogs and hasn’t spoken to me in almost 2 years. That makes me sad. Losing your best friend after so long is never easy and you never really recover from that.

You baby your electronics yet you don't get the one warranty that is actually good for it. I've done AppleCare+ since my iPhone 5 and my god, the amount of random incidental damage that's out of your control it's incredibly worth it. Take it as a life lesson.

Thread Trump: collusion is not a crime
He's basically saying that Hilary and the Democrats did nothing wrong, either. If collusion isn't a crime, then Hilary and the Democrats (by his own admission) were fine to do what they did, so how is it that they're crooked, then?

Thread Venom - Official Trailer #2
This looks like a hot mess. Any transitional CGI (Where it's both hardy and venom) looks absolutely horrible.. The initial transformation (As seen in the first trailer) doesn't look any better, and the "we are venom" part at the end just.. doesn't feel finished, maybe? It suffers from "throw a drop shadow around his cut out head and forget to color time it" -- I'm staying far, far away from this piece of poop rolling down the street in the wind.

I liked it a lot. Goldblum stole the show. The world of imagination theme usage was fantastic. Was I seeing things or did I catch a couple glances of the Slave One in the junk heap when Thor was initially captured after landing on the trash planet ?

Movie was fine... but that Score by Alan Silvestri was absolutely amazing. It borrows HEAVILY from Back to the Future and I LOVE IT. It's the closest we'll get to a BTTF 4 score.

I love how they're talking about changing the freaking DST, why not just have the events one to two hours sooner? It's the same effect and doesn't require time zone shenanigans.

Thread Black Panther |OT| Wakanda Forever (Unmarked Spoilers)
Movie was alright. Not “the best MCU movie yet” as some have touted. It was very weird watching an origin movie of sorts even though the character was previously introduced. I also feel like this movie had no connective tissue to the rest of the MCU, and could easily be skipped and you’d be no further behind in the overall storyline leading up to the next films, especially considering he’s in the next avengers... should have been something else there to bring it all together more.

Thread m0dus's Ps4 theme thread: creating themes, unseen concepts, and maybe ... uh, requests?
m0dus and I have spoken privately in the past regarding theme creation, and he is not exaggerating when he says the limitations are ridiculous. I've got.. four themes under my belt too and its always a constant learning experience when trying to squeeze every bit of quality and function into what is essentially 16Mb of system memory. Never ceases to amaze me what you've been able to pull off.. and figuring out you've pulled it off is just as fun :)

Thread The Magicians Season 3
I loved how meta this season was through and through. "How long will this quest take?" "oh, probably a good season" The constant calling out of 'lazy plotting' or characters acknowledging scene breaks, etc.. The fourth wall playing tickles my fancy. The Musical episode was hilarious. The time-in-a-bottle episode was really well done, too. I feel like Season 4 is very much entering LOST Season 6 territory, flash-sideways, characters not knowing who they or each other are, should be interesting. As for the finale and Penny23.. does that mean Penny40 is just.. gone now? It was mentioned that he 'replaced' him.. but seems like a weird cop-out of a storyline?

Thread Reboot: The Guardian Code |OT| This is bad, very bad...
Episode 1 and 2 are ROUGH, but I dunno, it grew on me as I watched it.. it got a little better, but the 'hacker/sourceror' storyline is bullshit. VERA is the best part of the live action bit (first episodes notwithstanding), and megabyte is the best part of the 3d. Megabyte at least is going against everything "new" in this show.. he's still rebelling, he has his own agenda, and has a strong dislike toward the hacker.. so it's almost a meta commentary on the whole reboot of reboot... and it gives me hope. It still feels like the exact same character.

Thread That whole "militarized raptors" thing in Jurassic World
The only way JW2 gets salvaged is if JW3 has like a 15 year time jump, and dinosaurs roam wild, attacking humans at random, and it follows a small group of people throughout, as they get picked off one by one. Almost a 28 days later meets jurassic park. And it ends on a downer. No one saves the day. Maybe one or two of our protagionists makes it out alive - but the message is - this is their world now, this is what we must do to survive. Dinosaurs are now the apex predator. Not us.

Thread Arrested Development S5 |OT| And the one producer who had no choice but to keep them all together
Just finished. Wonder why they felt it was worth releasing as a half-season, let alone dividing it with that ending. Kinda a weird half-season.. The S4 recut being fresh in my mind has made me kinda feel 'meh' about the storyline this season, it is so meandering, I was hoping for more quick time jumps to get out of the corner they wrote themselves into. The perceivable age difference of michael cera in episode 1, from the 'punching' scene S4 footage to the new S5 continuation was jarring as hell. Kyle Mooney is the worst addition to the cast, not sure why they even bothered with him. Buster was criminally wasted in these episodes, but was the best part of any one he was in. There were some good moments, and I hope the second half turns it around to make this first half pay off.

Thread Star Trek Discovery |OT| To Boldly go into the new streaming era
Callister worked best as a single episode. It's far too heavily influenced by TOS to ever survive on its own in any capacity. It's inspired by it as much as Galaxy Quest, but not different enough like The Orville. Don't dilute the awesomeness that was USS Calister.
