ThreadControl's dual sense support is just fantastic and changes the game feel
It's interesting because I spoke with their Communications Manager and got told it was 'okay' by his reckoning - he believes they can do more in the future. I think that will be the case with almost all games so far, developers have to get to grips with this before fully realizing its potential.

Leyou originally licensed LOTR from The Saul Zaentz Company back in 2018. Then they picked up Amazon as the 'partner developer' in 2019.
And yes, Leyou will market, publish, and operate the game in China; Amazon will do it elsewhere in the world.

No. If you want to play PS5 games on it, you're going to need an SSD which is at least as fast as the PS5's, and this one is far slower. Cerny said Sony will discuss compatibility closer to launch.
ThreadZenimax Online is in pre-production on a new AAA game, new engine, new IP
Yeah, Elder Scrolls Online is the best MMORPG on the market as far as I'm concerned. I would hope they'd add some sandbox elements in their next title, though.
ThreadAmazon's MMORPG New World pushed back to spring 2021 release
Here's the crux of the entire matter. Last year, the game was entirely switched from a sandbox PvP design to a hybrid PvP/PvE design, which however seemed to be sorely lacking in content according to those who've played it so far. The reason for the delay seems pretty clear, then. They're probably busy making a lot more PvE content, though personally I'd rather they went back to the original design.
ThreadTim Sweeney on UE5: "The Nanite and Lumen tech powering it will be fully supported on both PS5 and Xbox Series X and will be awesome on both."
I think some are forgetting that Epic's CTO Kim Libreri actually already told PC Gamer that the RTX 2070 Super (basically like a 2080 laptop GPU) could run the demo with 'pretty good' performance. So it's nothing new, really.
ThreadLTTP: Elder Scrolls Online - Easier than modding Oblivion again.
Yeah, Elder Scrolls Online is very good, I've long maintained it is the best MMORPG right now. I recently got back into it with my guildmates.
You don't really need to pay for a subscription though. Sure, the separate crafting inventory is a great bonus, but if you're not going to do crafting and trading at the highest level it is not strictly required. I don't really have a problem with how the DLC packs are structured with the exception of dungeon packs, which I believe should be added for free instead. It's also a bit disappointing that mounts are almost exclusively tied to Crown Store purchases.

ThreadMike Ybarra: PS5 could have better I/O than anything the PC has ever seen
That's the thing, he didn't say he verified the information. He could have been just referring to Cerny's own statement, so I wouldn't take it as a confirmation of any kind.
ThreadVariable Rate Shading could be next-gen's most revolutionary feature
Something else that people need to realize is that we won't be forced to 30 fps or 60fps any more thanks to Variable Refresh Rate being built in the HDMI 2.1 specification. This means TVs going forward will all feature VRR, so developers do not necessarily have to target 30fps or 60fps but they can just leave it at unlocked 45, 50 or whatever.
Those games were already pared down in terms of RPG elements compared to cRPGs, and looked down upon at the time. That's what I'm pointing out - this was always a hack-and-slash version of Baldur's Gate made specifically for consoles. I'm not seeing any significant differences as of yet.
It is just too early to make any judgment. However, Dark Alliance was never meant to be a true roleplaying game, even back then, which is why I'm not surprised. We'll see closer to release if they have really stripped this of any and all RPG elements - those few it had in the first place.
Robust character building elements - sure, it's D&D. Dialogue options, well, not really. The entire game is linear and your choices have no impact whatsoever, unlike traditional cRPGs.
ThreadA hyper VR version of Red Dead 2 would be insane.
It's regularly improved by the developer, now featuring even limited D3D12 support. Of course, it's far from a perfect VR experience, but it's the closest you can get for most non-native VR games as long as the game is . The best ones support DirectVR.

ThreadVRS tier 2 offers up to 50% fps increase for negligible graphical trade-off.

ThreadTrying to get in on PCVR for a good price before Alyx? The Odyssey+ headset is currently $229, a record-low price, plus 2 months of Viveport Infinity
It's not normally sold by Samsung in Europe, that's why. But we can import it at a reasonable price via Amazon or B&H.
ThreadTrying to get in on PCVR for a good price before Alyx? The Odyssey+ headset is currently $229, a record-low price, plus 2 months of Viveport Infinity
Actually the custom duty isn't that high via B&H. It's only $12.28, what's more expensive is VAT which comes in at $60 or so.
ThreadTrying to get in on PCVR for a good price before Alyx? The Odyssey+ headset is currently $229, a record-low price, plus 2 months of Viveport Infinity
Right, but if you are in that spectrum then the IPD issue is basically a dealbreaker. Even Palmer Luckey voiced his disappointment as the first Oculus had better compatibility in this regard. Also, the Oculus Rift S has a 10Hz lower refresh rate, while the Quest is even worse (18Hz lower compared to the Odyssey+) and from what I understand this could impact motion sickness as well. It's not exactly a clear-cut choice.
ThreadTrying to get in on PCVR for a good price before Alyx? The Odyssey+ headset is currently $229, a record-low price, plus 2 months of Viveport Infinity
Exactly. The Odyssey+, on the other hand, has it.
From what I'm reading there is no perfect headset when you take into account the shortcomings of each and the relative prices.
ThreadGoogle responds after Stadia owners accuse it of breaking promises over game performance
You have to consider Stadia is essentially a new platform in all respects. Personally, I believe the disappointing performance in some games has to be partly the fault of Google (the development tools are likely immature for the time being) and party the fault of developers. There's no other explanation for a 10.7 teraflop hardware not being able to do 4K when the Xbox One X can. It has to be a mix of both.
ThreadMicrosoft “in talks” for Project xCloud exclusive games
True, though they could theoretically use elastic compute to exploit the power of multiple server instances at once. That'd have to be cut down for the local Xbox or even PC hardware though, in terms of physics and AI.

ThreadJason Schreier - BioWare Plans A Complete Overhaul for Anthem
If I were them, I'd focus on essentially remaking it with the power of next-generation hardware (PS5, Scarlett, Stadia, and obviously PC). I doubt the game as it is right now can be drastically improved to make a spectacular comeback.
ThreadUSGamer: The Last of Us Part II won’t have multiplayer (update: Naughty Dog responds. See threadmark)

It is not nearly the same thing, frankly. If you want to reach Xbox players you cannot but go through Microsoft. If you want to reach PlayStation players you cannot but go through Sony. If you want to reach Nintendo Switch players you cannot but go through Nintendo.
If you want to reach PC players there are countless ways to do so and Steam is only the most popular. Plenty of online games, for instance, have historically been successful with their own launchers on PC.
ThreadTV Displays and Tech Thread |OT2| There Is No Perfect TV ™ (Read The OP)
Well, technically HDMI 2.1 is not required for HDMI VRR. In fact, Samsung has had it since last year on HDMI 2.0 TVs.
I really hope NVIDIA does cave in on HDMI VRR at some point though, it would make things so much simpler.
At gamescom there was an interesting announcement to be fair, the 55" Philips Momentum 558M1RY. It does have through DisplayPort 1.4, Adaptive-Sync (which means GSync compatibility, too), and DisplayHDR 1000 certification by VESA. I'm afraid it wouldn't hold a candle to my LG C8 in terms of picture quality, though...
ThreadTV Displays and Tech Thread |OT2| There Is No Perfect TV ™ (Read The OP)
Personally, I'm quite frustrated at the lack of a definitive display for someone who simply wants to enjoy all the best there is in tech right now: UHD, HDR, OLED, VRR, High Refresh Rate. There's simply nothing that works if you're trying to game on a PC with an NVIDIA graphics card. Granted, that's mostly because NVIDIA refuses (though AMD does it, too) to allow VRR through HDMI, which basically cuts all the best OLED TVs out of that.
Alienware will release an OLED 55" gaming monitor, except it doesn't really do HDR and doesn't even have HDMI 2.1, not to mention the insane $4K price.
Of course, one could buy one of those BFGD displays, except they cost even more and aren't even OLED panels.
Basically, there is no way to get it all in one package, even if you're willing to spend on it.
I gave it 8.4 in my review and was honestly quite surprised at first by the other scores. Ultimately, though, they tie into the pre-release narrative of the one botched Sony exclusive game.

It's not a maybe, I'm the author of the article and I got it from them. That bit was meant to clarify that there was dynamic resolution in place, which they already used on the standard XB1.
And you're right, in the previous interview we had with them they didn't say anything about dynamic resolution, but they did the last time we talked when the patch actually came out. Though again, they didn't give out the specifics of how the dynamic resolution worked.

ThreadDigital Foundry tests Nvidia's FreeSync/Adaptive Sync - "It's a game-changer"
They did say to our editor at CES 2019 they might explore it in the future. I guess the best way in the meantime would be just to get the upcoming Alienware OLED which comes with a DisplayPort and should definitely work.
That reminds me of the comment made a couple years ago by Pete Hines about Bethesda not being a vending machine. It's also why I fear Anthem and Bioware are in a similar position with so many fans not wanting them to try something different even before they've actually played the game.
ThreadNVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Launching at $349 US on 15th January – Gaming Performance Numbers Leaked, Will Deliver 60 FPS With RTX & DLSS Enabled at 1080p

ThreadI have been playing Witcher 3 using GeForceNOW on a nVidia Shield and it has been a better experience than any modern console.
Did you try playing The Witcher 3 on a 4K HDR enabled Xbox One X? Because I doubt that could possibly be inferior to 1080p streamed PC, even with Ultra settings enabled.
By the way, given your ideal environment you should probably try Shadow. It allows high frame rate at 1080p resolution and 4K60, unlike GeForce Now.
I don't think there is any real plan to create a coherent 'MGU' as of now. Marvel may well be happy simply with publishing great games, and so would a lot of gamers.
As to Avengers, they merely said they'd share more information during 2018. For all we know, they could do it before the end of the year, or more likely in the first months of 2019. It hasn't really disappeared from the face of the Earth, though of course, the anticipation for it is huge.

ThreadAlpha gameplay footage of Amazon's MMO (New World) leaked on Pornhub
The hook is that this is not just a survival game. It has persistence and MMO elements, to an unprecedented scale for any mere survival game.
Our editor tried the game at Gamescom and said the area he was playing in the demo was about 200 square miles and only one fourth or fifth of the total landmass. Also, they're planning 500 concurrent players during the Alpha but the ultimate goal is to extend that to 10K concurrent players, which would make it like one traditional MMO server.
The territory control system and the entirely player-driven economy would then flourish in such as scenario. In short, this is the best shot at a triple-A funded sandbox MMORPG, basically a big budget Darkfall with some survival elements.
As to the early footage being boring, I would be hard pressed to find an Alpha MMO/sandbox/survival game that doesn't look boring in a video honestly. I'd give it time before scratching it off like that.

I think it's incorrect to say that. Checkerboarding is a very specific technique and DLSS works in a completely different way, though both have the goal to improve performance.
ThreadCyberpunk 2077 is the cover of EDGE Magazine November 2018
It's a way of speech, not literal. It wouldn't make much sense to release the game on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, two platforms launched in 2013, if it's really coming out in 2021 or later.
Besides, we already know the main quest is fully playable and they have a huge development team now.
ThreadNVIDIA publishes RTX 2080 vs GTX 1080 comparison

ThreadNVIDIA publishes RTX 2080 vs GTX 1080 comparison
Actually, the showcase included more than one game with several RTX features.
Control has reflections, diffuse GI and contact shadows. Atomic Heart has shadows, ambient occlusion and reflections, just like Assetto Corsa Competizione and MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries.
I believe NVIDIA is hoping to partially offset the computational expense of ray tracing with NVIDIA DLSS for those games that enable both, such as MechWarrior 5, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Atomic Heart. It will be interesting to see how those perform in the final release.
Because those aren't RPGs. On the other hand, Assassin's Creed is now leaning far more heavily into that direction with the latest installments.
Of course, it's still an action RPG rather than a pure RPG.
ThreadCrystal Dynamics Adds Veterans From Naughty Dog, EA, Monolith, And More For The Avengers Project
I'll take The Division set in the Marvel universe, thanks. With replayability enhanced by procedurally generated missions whose variables are the countless enemies available in the comics.
Except that the fact sheet posted minutes ago clearly says the game is coming to PC, PS4, XB1. The screenshots could very well be from a maxed PC build and maybe even touched up a little bit.
Doubtful. As impactful as Oblivion was, Skyrim was much more so. It makes very little financial sense for a one-game studio like CDPR is for the time being to spend years and tons of money and then only release on consoles with a very small installed base. I see two clear options: either the GTAV/TLOU path, that is to say release on current gen and then GOTY Remastered on next gen, or straightforward Zelda: Breath of the Wild path of releasing cross-generation. But they aren't skipping current hardware unless there are insurmountable technical hurdles.
It shouldn't be. HDR was already available for MotoGP 17 on PlayStation 4. This one might get HDR support with an update on launch day if it's not there already.
That's HDR rendering for the engine itself, . It doesn't have to do with support of HDR displays.
ThreadWorld of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth datamining & spoiler thread
This could be useful as the game historically relied heavily on CPUs.
Anyway, I so wish they would just remake it with a modern engine and action-like combat. I'd be all over it once again. Of course, it'll never happen.
ThreadCyberpunk 2077 is still in a pre-alpha stage
To be clear, I wasn't implying any inside knowledge on the release date or anything like that. However, it is a fact that Cyberpunk 2077 being in Pre-Alpha state does not necessarily mean we'll have to wait more than two years to play it. As pointed out already, several games were in Alpha state only half a year before launch or so, not to mention that different studios use the Pre-Alpha, Alpha, Beta terms in very different ways. I think that the game will be out between late 2019 and the first half of 2020 at the latest, and it won't skip current generation consoles if they can help it. It wouldn't make any sense financially to do so.
ThreadKingdom Come: Deliverance PC performance thread

I'm not saying the game doesn't have issues or shouldn't be improved. Of course that's true.
My point was that user reviews don't seem to be a real deterrent when it comes to sales, as Ark and PUBG (and others) have proven. Hopefully, Crytek can do an even better job and use the sales revenue to refine the game a lot.
It's fun, and no doubt. Still, I can't help but feel disappointed precisely because the core systems could translate into a fantastic game all around, and that's not the case.
