Since the C8 doesn't have eARC, your real best bet is to simply upgrade to a 2.1 receiver (when they've worked the kinks out) As far as I know, all the current 2.1 issues have issues. Wait until the 2021 ones are announced.

While I mostly enjoyed my time with the game, it is so unashamedly Ubisoft. Cluttered open world with collectables every five feet. And the writing is just really bad. It's like it was written by a high school student for other high school students. Still, the combat is fun and the vaults were challenging enough.

Not necessarily. For one, on these long Texas highways, black ice can sneak up on you. One stretch might not have it when you all of a sudden pass onto a stretch that does. And since it's black ice, you don't notice it until you're on it and it's too late.

I'm saying that you can be careful, but in conditions like that some thing are just out of your control. The best option is to not go out in these conditions, but we live in a state where the weather changes rapidly and in a crazy manner and this stuff can literally happen while you're out driving. Of course driving safe will help, but if there's a slick patch and you spin out, the next car would have to be pretty far back and not have to make quick adjustments themselves to compensate. It's a shit situation no matter what.

In that case, I guess it would be the Sequels. The Force Awakens is good enough and I love The Last Jedi. I guess I could get drunk enough to laugh at The Rise of Skywalker. That's the thing, you're more than likely an enthusiast (as you post on this enthusiast forum). I can guarantee you that the average casual gamer does the initial setup and then never digs into the settings again unless something goes wrong with their system. Hell, many probably don't even realize the mic is on by default, so when they jump into a game, they many not realize they're broadcasting their voice.

Thread Game of the Year 2020 Voting Thread (Voting open from January 27 through March 1)
I can't remember the last time I felt this much emotion when playing a game. The acting, the writing, the animations, the sound design, the music. All of it was simply just phenomenal.I'm a huge Supergiant fan, and Hades has easily moved up to my #2 favorite work of theirs (nothing will replace my namesake). It's rare that I actually a roguelike, so when I learned that Hades was one, I was a little bummed. But the writing and the variations in the gameplay just kept me going back for more. Not to mention Darren Korb's excellent score. A gutpunch of nostalgia. Demon's Souls is the game that saved my love of gaming back on the PS3, during a time where I was losing interest in the hobby. Seeing the game brought into the current generation with love and care allowed me to fall in love with it all over again. Sucker Punch knocked their vision of a samurai game out of the park. The open world of Tsushima Island was just the right size and dotted with just enough content that it didn't overstay its welcome, like many open world games do (I'm looking at you Ubisoft). Great combat, interesting characters, fantastic acting. Just an all around delight. I can't wait for a sequelI just recently got done playing through this again on hard, and I think I appreciate it more the second time around. The project is amazingly ambitious and I never thought I would see Midgar fully fleshed out like this. And the soundtrack. Oh my god the soundtrack. A perfect blend of old and new. Balls to the wall, demon shooting action. This sequel ramped the action up to 11 and never stopped going. While I felt that the story was a major step back, the gameplay more than made up for it. Even more so than its predecessor, Doom Eternal manages to capture that classic FPS action with a modern feel. Rip and tear, until it is done. When I first got my PS5, I figured I'd dick around in the playroom for a few mintues before jumping into Demon's Souls. What I didn't expect is that I would find the best platformer game I've played in probably a decade. Everything about the game is an absolute delight. The controls are tight and precise, the dualsense features are perfectly executed, the levels provide a fun enough challenge for everyone without being frustrating, and the music has me bopping up and down in my chair like a mad man. Same web slinging action with some new twists thanks to the ability to play as Miles. While shorter than the predecessor, I actually felt the length was perfect (especially for the price point). Like Ghost of Tsushima, I appreciate these open worlds that don't span for hundreds of miles. The characters and story are good (although one of the villains is kinda bland. You know the one). And god damn the game is a looker. Although I'm sad I didn't have that glorious Performance RT mode available to play at launch.Media Molecule loves to experiment. And they love to let experiment, too. Dreams lets us do exactly that. If you can dream it, you can make it. And if you don't have the time to make it? You can play the levels of someone who has. The only problem I have with Dreams is that the community has dropped off quite a bit since release. Hopefully a PS5 version will come in the future (ideally on PS+) to help breathe new life into the community. Bunger bunger bunger bunger bunger bunger bunger bunger bunger. Bunger bunger bunger bunger bunger bunger bunger bunger bunger bunger bunger bunger bunger bunger bunger. Bunger bunger bunger. Bunger bunger? Bunger! OK, seriously, though. I wasn't expecting to enjoy Bugsnax near as much as I did. With a cast of loveable and diverse characters, Bugsnax left me with a smile on my face. And those bugsnax are just so adorable. Fantastic voice acting, too, which really surprised me.

She's wrong that Twitter shouldn't have banned him. But she's right that relying on tech companies instead of government to do this can be messy and problematic. After all, had we had laws against this type of speech to begin with, he would have been deplatformed years ago. But that's the first amendment for you. It inherently puts the burden on the private companies to do something. And it prevents lawmakers under an extreme right wing government from silencing people opposing them.

OP nails a lot of what I hate about Ubisoft open world games. Recently I was gifted Immortals and it's ridiculous how bloated that little island is. Every four feet you're tripping over a chest or a vault or a puzzle or something. Mix that with the farsight ability that lets you mark collectibles from miles away, and it takes any incentive to actually and throws it out the window. Very few games manage to scratch that Outer Wilds / Morrowind / Breath of the Wild feel of looking off into the distance and saying "I wonder what's there". It's than most, as the world isn't huge as the recent AC games. The combat is really fun and a lot of the vaults have really good challenge. But it's just so bloated. Like, every four feet there's a puzzle or a vault or a race or a chest or some ambrosia. It still suffers from that "quantity over quality" approach. The writing is honestly pretty bad, too. Thread Say what you want, but I prefer Sekiro over Souls games for having LESS OPTIONS - and therefore being more focused
I don't think this is all that much of a hot take. I've never been one for "build variety" in my Souls games, so Sekiro and Bloodborne are probably my top two. Focus on build variety over environmental cohesion is probably why Dark Souls 2 is on the bottom for me. Bloodborne is probably the perfect balance.

But a lot of people don't play through games multiple times, so a tighter single playthrough might be what they want more than variable multiple playthroughs.

The Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions mobile port. It fixes the slowdown issue of the PSP version, but the audio timing is completely off. Skill animations / sound effects don't match up a lot of the time. Also, the touch controls are pretty bad. It pains me that there's no real definitive version of this game. I'd kill for a more modern port of it. Playing it on the big screen in high resolution with correct sound timings would make me very happy.

I have some work to do on mine. The 2.1 cables are ran temporarily (hence those white cable hiders on the left side of the TV), and the UPS behind the TV needs to be replaced since the 77" CS pulls a lot more power than my old 2015 70" Vizio. The console at is falling apart (the wood is just resting on the top now). One of my plans for this year is to rewire the 2.1 cables through the wall. The up-firing Atmos speakers will be replaced with in-ceiling speakers, the Polk subwoofer has finally started to give out (she's served me good over the past 15 years). I plan on replacing the two sofas (not pictured) with a nice sectional, too, as well as adding some automated shades (since my windows let in a lot of light in the evening) EDIT: Rehosted image. I've been playing the game for about a week now, and I think the problem is that it's just completely the Ubisoft formula. Open world with towers Absolutely with stuff in the world. I mean, it's so bloated. You can't walk 10 feet without hitting a chest or vault or puzzle. The humor is just.... not good. It's like a less vulgar version of the Sunset Overdrive humor. Like it was written by a high school student. The combat is really good, I'll give it that. Typical Ubisoft microtransactions. It's a BOTW clone without any of the heart and soul. It's fun, don't get me wrong, if mostly for the combat. I've given up on caring about the story at all, mostly because of the writing. But the combat and the vaults are pretty good.

Again, it doesn't matter if they're "not actually kids" when they're literally pitched as children in the beginning of the game, and then you're shown them naked in robots, so for a good portion of the game you're to believe they are naked children in robots. Explaining it off later as "they're not kids" isn't really a good excuse in my mind. An easy way to avoid this? Just do face shots when they're in the robots instead of whole body shots. That way no naked bodies. Easy solution.

Thread Cyberpunk 2077 |OT| Welcome to Night City (READ THE OP BEFORE YOU POST)
CD Projekt Red has a history of transphobia. at this point and not a matter of debate. Due to this context there is particular concern about transphobic or insensitive content in Cyberpunk 2077 itself, such as the decision to in the character creator, and trans fetishization in illustrations in the game—and these are just examples from prerelease footage. Additionally, there have been concerns about racist imagery and stereotyping. goes into depth about some of these issues. This list will be updated over time as more examples come to light, especially as the game releases and more content is uncovered. If you wish to have something added to this list, please send me a DM and get my attention. There has been a lot of discussion about whether there should even be an official thread for Cyberpunk 2077, and many points of view were considered for this decision. Ultimately, a thread like this can serve as a platform for minority concerns to be aired and discussed respectfully, and given appropriate attention. We’ve also heard from minority members, including some trans members, who have asked for a space where they can talk about the game without needing to worry about trolling and bigoted posting. We expect all posters in the thread to extend the consideration and empathy to give them that space. We will be moderating as strictly as necessary to make sure they do. Transphobia exists in many aspects of our lives. From casual discrimination such as the continuous misuse of a person's preferred pronouns, to more serious ramifications such as housing being denied, legal rights being taken away, and being discriminated in the legal system. Every trans person either has experienced transphobia in their lives, or will experience transphobia at some point. Moreover, transphobia is a systematic issue that is present in every level of our society. Politicians fight to take away our rights. Celebrities use coded language and religious justifications, if not outright hostility, in order to continue to deny our existence. Media continues to portray us as the butt of a joke, or acts like we're something to be fascinated by, rather than treated with respect. Actions speak louder than words: Become active in your local politics, donate to transgender causes, stand up for these issues wherever they arise, and if you know transgender people in your life be there for them and support them.We are your friends. We are your family members. We're your coworkers. We're the people you meet on the street. We're the essential workers who keep society running in a pandemic. We're everywhere. We're not some sort of freak or joke, and we're not going away. I want to give major thanks to for lending her talent, time, and effort in putting together graphics and material for this official thread. I was gifted a copy of Immortals (since I won't give Ubisoft money) and the world is just so filled with bloat. Frescos, vaults, ambrosia, puzzles, puzzles, puzzles. It's just way too busy. Thread These are my 5 favourite games ever. What are yours (and why?!)
Favorite is a really hard term for me when it comes to games. I have favorites from different genres. I have favorites on different platforms. I've played so many games over the years that I I guess to me I'll have to just list the five games that really changed how I looked at gaming, in no particular order. Around the time Demon's Souls came out, I was in one hell of a rut (in my personal life, in my professional life, and in my gaming life). Games were just feeling so boring to me. The trifecta of Fallout 3, Grand Theft Auto IV, and Metal Gear Solid 4 disappointing me just kinda put me off of the hobby. Other games just felt so samey. Games with so few consequences as checkpoints became more and more frequent so deaths meant nothing other than a small amount of wasted time. That's when Demon's Souls came along and gave me a great challenge with real consequences when you died. It incentivized you being careful. It gave you a thrill when you actually defeated a boss and progressed. I know it sounds silly, but it really revived my love of the hobby. I'd played first person shooters on PC back since the early days of Catacomb 3D, Wolfenstein 3D, Ken's Labyrinth, and Doom. Console first person shooters were always something that just either were neutered when it came to graphics or controls. Many were poor ports (SNES port of Doom and Wolf 3D, PSX port of Duke Nukem, etc). And then Halo came out. Cooperative split screen, good AI enemies, actual AI good guys, fun story, great music, great controls. It was just such a "holy shit" moment for me, and it really shaped the landscape of console shooters going forward. I'd never played a tactical strategy game, but I was very familiar with Final Fantasy games. Seeing the title with "tactics" in the name made my young brain think it was some sort of video with tactics for a bunch of the Final Fantasy games. After finally getting my hands on the box and being able to look at it, I realized it was a completely different game all together. Instantly I fell in love with the game. The tactical gameplay, the deep story that pulls no punches, that Sakimoto score. It made me fall in love with the genre and I have forever awaited a sequel. Maybe some day. I'd happily settle for an HD remaster of War of the Lions with fixed animation / sound timings. I often described Castlevania as my religion when I was younger. I loved the games, all of them, as difficult as they were. When Symphony of the Night came along, I was blown away. I liked the game a lot when I first played it. The music, the visuals, the gameplay. Alucard's booming Batman voice. However, I was young and stupid, thinking the game as over after you defeat Richter. I didn't like how short the game was, but the originals weren't exactly long, so I didn't think anything of it. It wasn't until an issue of PSM or EGM where I realized I missed a large chunk of the game that I replayed it and fell in absolute love. I can now 200.6% the game from memory. When I first experienced Resident Evil on the PS1, I realized how much I loved horror games. But one thing that kinda bothered me was that the evil was all man made. It wasn't that Doom style evil of actual demons. Then Silent Hill came along and gave me what I crave. Actual evil in a survival horror game. The low poly models of the PS1 just made the creatures and environments even more horrifying, and the cult storyline enthralled me. Yamaoka's music added to the environment perfectly.

Such a great prequel to Halo 1 2 had issues, but is still great. That ending still hurts to this day. ODST was pretty cool. Nice to see what was going on on Earth. Characters were enjoyable. 3 finally finished 2's story. It should have been the end of Chief's and Cortana's story, though. 4 was just boring. I really didn't like that they made Cortana be this huge deal, in all honesty. The prometheans were so boring as an enemy, too. 5 : "Go get chief, chief bad" "Why chief bad?" "Because chief bad" "Wait, chief good?" "Yes, chief good. Cortana bad" Fuck that game. trash ass story.

I knew I was going to upgrade for next-gen. I was originally going to go with the 85" Sony X900H, but the wife and I decided to splurge and go with the 77" LG CX instead. I sit about 8 feet away. I don't feel the need to get closer to the TV at all. As for eye level, ideally you want the tv tilted so that your eyes are looking straight at the center, but if the viewing angles on your set are good, that's not a huge worry.

For your first colony, I highly recommend starting in a mild place with no meteors or freezes. Those can fuck you over hardcore if you're not prepared. And don't rush to make your first dome. Pick power supplies that can be easily repaired with materials on hand (like metals). Using solar panels and turning off non-pertinent equipment at night (like extractors) is a great way to start.

I've mentioned it to them in the past and they said it might be a timing issue that they're looking into. Hopefully a firmware update will fix it.

Thread Love how 60fps and 120fps is pushed for consoles on next gen (Xbox Series & PS5). Farewell to 30fps
I'm totally fine with 30 FPS as long as I have a 60FPS option as well. Moreso, I would prefer companies aim for that 1440P / 60hz / RT sweet spot that Insomniac hit with Miles Morales

I played it in quality mode first for the RT and then I did performance RT. The density reduction is minor compared to the 60 FPS.1440p

Oh, absolutely. It looks amazing and it's the sweet spot I hope all developers go for. Native 4K is such a waste when reconstruction is getting better and better.

This is why I hope Sony can knock it out of the park with a single-cable USB-C PSVR2. Imagine if they can make it PC compatible as well. Give people a non-Facebook alternative to the Quest 2I mean, they probably just are in a special "no data farming" Facebook group. Either that, or they don't even use the platform.

It definitely takes time to get used to, but once it does it just kind of clicks. Now, I really need to remember to make a disclaimer when I talk about Surviving Mars: Base game? It's OK With the terraforming expansion? It's fantastic. The game sucked 100+ hours from my life and quickly became my "one more turn" game as of late.

Thread Your opinion on couch PC Gaming
I do literally all of my PC gaming from my comfy couch. I have an LG CX 77" with my PC hooked directly to it. I don't even have a desk or a monitor for it. I bought a trackball mouse and a nice wireless keyboard, as well as a DS4 and a Steam Controller. It's perfection.

God this is so true. CCH Pounder knocked that role out of the damn park. However, I want to give props to the moment when Dutch caught the serial killer after a whole day of the suspect (and the whole damn department) laughing at him. Dutch put that boy in his fucking place.

Thread WindowsCentral: Cyberpunk 2077 is proof Halo Infinite should skip the Xbox One
I don't think you'll ever see that happen, as they promised there would be no Xbox One X only games, didn't they? And aren't there a lot more One S and base Ones than One X's out in the wild? Doesn't really seem like it would be worth it at that point.

I mean, the game has already been a marketing nightmare. Delays, subpar reveals, missed console launch. Cutting off the cross-gen promise would just be another slap in the face.A better article title would have been "Cyberpunk 2077 is proof that people need to remove CD Projekt Red from the pedestal they've been placed on"

No it wouldn't, because then reviewers just wouldn't get review copies. In fact, that already happened in some cases. Instead they'll just use "influencers" to prop up and market the game and nothing would change.
