System requirements mean nothing to me, anymore. I'll await the Digital Foundry breakdown for the truth.Such an embarrassing way for Sony to do business. Thread NVIDIA announces Crypto Mining Processor series, GeForce RTX 3060 driver will limit mining performance
I can answer that, as the resident gaming laptop expert. The RTX 3060 Mobile is a completely different GPU. They are both GA106 but the laptop variant is on a slightly different package, and even has 256 more shaders than the desktop variant. If you flashed the mobile VBIOS you'd either get a black screen and have to blind flash back, or brick the card. They would've done it for Pascal if it were possible.

They disrespected with a single movie's worth of resolution. As a kid who grew up with those comics, I left the theatre mad mad. Fox was so bad at having the vision to start an MCU level event. The Age of Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix Saga could've fed them for a decade plus.

If you're too young to have seen it, the song was already huge, but In the Air Tonight's use in the premiere episode of Miami Vice changed TV. Check out this scene: I still remember seeing this scene as a kid. Riveting, legendary. That camera work. Phil was cool in the hood and my dad listened to Collins era Genesis so I'm probably too biased by nostalgia to vote. Sledgehammer is a banger though. We still have VHS tapes full of all of the weird 80s music videos.

Sat second chair in orchestra in school. Picked up a flute after having not played in 15+ years and couldn't even remember how to form my lips correctly. Felt bad. Before you do anything drastic, you might as well contact MSI technical support and find out what your options are. MSI isn't likely to charge eBay aftermarket MXM prices for a repair. If you need the phone number or help with anything shoot me a PM. Accessing the GPU is actually really straightforward. You have access to the GPU heatsink as soon as you remove the 5 screws securing the bottom panel.

The first review I distinctly remember reading, was Military Madness for the TurboGrafx-16. That'd be 1989-ish? What publication would it have been back then, Computer and Video Games Magazine? It's just a memory stuck with me from childhood because the game looked so intriguing and mysterious, plus I knew I'd never play it as my parents would never buy the console.Holy shit just seeing those pictures actually took me back to 1990 and I have memories of reading that very magazine. Furthermore, assuming we get that together, 50 years is an incredible amount of time. It was received as below average, even at its time, by a lot of people including me. My friend and I started off intrigued but by the end od disc 3 we were dragging ourselves to the finish line. It was so by the numbers that I was quite literally calling out what would happen way ahead of time, that was my main issue. Sony had good intentions but they just copied too much of the playbook. LoD is certainly not what I'd call "good for its time", but I will also not fault anyone for finding the fun and charm in a game. Assholes do that. I would not mind a modern reimagining at all. Just giving the ability to select Additions from a menu instead of being stuck to one once an encounter had begun, would greatly improve the experience to me. The game can be saved. It's pretty crazy Sony never tried again.

Thread A Celebration of Black Characters in Games [Week 1: Fighting Game Characters]
This is probably a broad discussion for an entirely different thread, but France's ideal of universalism (colorblind society) is a lie it keeps telling itself to avoid dealing with reality as more and more non-whites call the country home. It sounded real good when 99% of the country looked the same. I won't question that people who escaped America at its peak of open, antagonistic racism saw Europe as some kind of Utopia, and to be honest I have to be more fair with this because I understand where they came from, as my family is old South. My dad was almost killed as a kid for drinking from a 'Whites Only' fountain. My dad refused to fight the white man's war in Vietnam, at 18 he was going to take my mother and make a run for Canada if he got drafted. She was down. Still is haha. Moving to a Western European nation was probably literally liberating. So I shouldn't be so hard on the rose tinted glasses. But I also won't give Nintendo credit for going for Twintelle's background, beyond a happy mistake. They haven't earned that line of credit.

Thread Game Pass is changing the way I enjoy videogames and I love it
I can see the type of gaming lifestyle that would thrive within Gamepass, but the service taught me that I don't live it. I tend to latch onto a few games (favorite genre is roguelikes) which I will play for extremely long stretches as I seek mastery, only pausing for new releases that catch my eye. So having a trove of games into which I can dive, offers little to no value when I stick to 4 or 5 games and then mix in the major RPGs as they drop. There is also that I almost always take long breaks during playthroughs as I get distracted. When Jedi Fallen Order recently was announced for GP, I instead bought it during the Steam sale for ~$20, as I wasn't sure how quickly I'd get into it, and I've now played for about 5 minutes. Honestly, the though of having a gaming backlog on a subscription service gives me chills, can't do it. I will for sure be subbing temporarily when Bethesda releases Starfield, and for Avowed. As an access to day one 1st-party games it's a ridiculous deal, I just can't utilize the "Netflix" portion to its fullest.

To me it says you need at least 6c/6t but 8c/16t is the ideal. Of course these core counts have everything to do with the new gen consoles. Baseline game development is 8c/16t now. Welcome to a new generation. I honestly wonder if they meant to put the i5-8600 as the minimum CPU because there is no way a 4c/4t CPU is going to hold up.The low-powered quad core CPUs in the Dash F15 are going to be a serious bottleneck in the near future, as minimum specs transition to 6-core CPUs. Hey when you're making a game about Corpos ruining everything, why miss an opportunity to let the real-life Corpos ruin everything? I also agree completely, the last-gen versions shouldn't have happened. The vision outstripped the hardware, but greed in taking advantage of the install base trumped all.

CDPR probably should have just put all of their attention toward releasing on PC first, and then focused on console ports later. It had to be as clear as day that the PS4 and Xbox One just couldn't handle the game. Eventually you have to put standards above profits. Ultimately, they should've either abandoned the last-gen versions or been straight up clear about how the vanilla consoles were struggling.

If they do introduce it as a premium monitor with a sky high price, I'll just look at the 48" C1 anyway. I was borderline on the 48" CX but the 1st-gen HDMI 2.1 issues made me hold off for the 2021 models. While WFH has me dying for better options than my 17" laptop and ancient 1080p TV, I am in no rush to make a rash decision.

The one thing I can tell you about gaming laptop + TV, is that sometimes you may have to connect to the TV, then reboot the laptop for the picture to function correctly. Obviously YMMV with your specific setup, but this is something I have encounter across different setups over the last decade plus, especially if the laptop in question has Optimus. That's really it though, other than the fact that your Nvidia GPU will be running 100% of the time when connected to the external display.

Dennis, brother, look at CP2077 maxed out with RT on Psycho. I walk around Night City and sometimes it blows my mind how good it looks. In context, this game was held back by the last-gen consoles being in the picture. True next-gen only games are going to have stupid fidelity. One trailer I still point people toward is the . Yes, the game itself is just an online-only shooter, but pay attention to the asset fidelity of everything in the scenes. Not a low-res texture in sight, 8K everywhere. THAT is what next-gen only games are bringing. We still haven't seen true next-gen yet in my opinion. Big budget endeavors are going to be ridiculous looking.Where is the hyperbole? The combat segments of the trailer were AT BEST 15fps. They chose to reveal it in this state, so it's fair game for people to voice skepticism as to whether they can maintain the graphical quality up to release, while improving performance to a playable level.

A refresher for those who have forgotten: The explanation you seek is right at the beginning. It has "Game Engine Demonstration" plastered at the bottom. As DF's Richard Leadbetter said back then, (3:45 timestamp), "first red flag for me here." In fact, DF's 2018 video deserves a repost. because I just watched it and Jesus watching/listening to Richard break down the amount of tech shown is sobering versus what we saw a few days ago: None of that shit was present in 2020, right? The only logical explanation (that I have) is that the trailer was built on a PC targeting XSX specs, with absolutely no thought given to the current-gen consoles. They just went all out in showcasing what the engine can produce, because *drumroll*... they weren't considering the current-generation's limitations. I could be wrong. The on die ray-tracing HW makes the load significantly lighter, but when turning RT on max makes a freaking RTX 2080 Ti reduce the rendering resolution to 1080p, surely you can't say the rasterization power of the GPU itself isn't a major factor in whether the visuals can be produced at acceptable framerates.

The RTX 2060 has nowhere near the RT capability of the RTX 2080 Ti, and the RTX 2080 Ti makes resolution sacrifices to run RT effects. Lockhart is not going to have good RT capabilities.

Nvidia pretty much fucked up the product stack this time. The 3090 and 3080 Ti are pointless if they are minimal raster improvements, and just dangle higher VRAM for the fish to bite. Should've just dropped a 3080 20GB, then waited until you could release a higher tier SKU that would offer at least a 20% performance boost along with whatever VRAM brings the boys and girls to the yard. Having three cards within 15% of each other, but price a variance of $800, is just... amateurish. This is why I still kinda don't believe these 3080 Ti rumors. Again, how can you release a better value 3090, with 3090 orders still pending in the channel? This makes no sense from a business or PR perspective. You knew all along that AMD was going to compete and undercut your SKU, so why make the blunder of pricing at $1,499 in the first place? Respond to AMD? You didn't forecast this from the beginning? If it's as bad as your perception tells you, wouldn't the dentist have had trouble seeing you at close range? And have you actually the therapist why she's doing remote visits. Listen, you very well could have a health issue. A bunch of us on the internet who can't smell you aren't going to help at all to placate your conflict of whether you are the worst smelling person ever or imagining things. What I can say is that I spent decades suffering with an undiagnosed, acute anxiety disorder. which cause huge social paranoia within me. I felt everyone in my vicinity was paying attention to and reacting to everything I did. How was I supposed to know they weren't? I was already filling in the blanks in my minds. This person moved this way because of that,, this other person must have noticed this, literally everyone in the room was criticizing my every move. When I read the part where you said people 40 feet away are reacting to your smell, that really resonated with me, and my past life. My radius of paranoia spread hundreds of feet, like the size of a cafeteria. But, like, my therapist who helped me come back to reality once said, what are the odds that people in such a large area really have the time to pay attention to you? They are busy living and worrying about their own lives. Try really paying attention to what they are doing, are they really paying you any mind? If your smell had a 40 foot radius, wouldn't ground zero (you) smell like an absolute dumpster at all times, enough to make even you vomit? Again, I'm not trying to discredit your issue of having bad breath, I'm not there. But if you breathe into your hand, does it smell really really bad? Don't you smell it while breathing into your mask? p.s. - get off of internet groups until you have a medical diagnosis, they aren't helping you

It's the better buy for not much more as you'd need to add RAM to the other model to get full performance out of it anyway. Dual channel is a big deal especially with Ryzen CPUs.

No prob. Sometimes you need knowledge. The GTX 1650 is faster than a GTX 1060, so you are getting a huge boost over the 1050.The TUF does have the really poor screen (45% NTSC coverage) with washed out colors. I'd call that the fall back option as the specs are perfect otherwise. The G15 is itself a good machine but the i7-10750H is a mediocre CPU. The i7-10875H is really the CPU to aim for in my opinion, IF the budget allows. The Lenovo Legion gets the same treatment as the G15. The Aftershock Vapor has super good specs for the price, which is why I wouldn't accept less than the 10875H from these other similarly priced machines based around Intel CPUs. Metabox Prime A1 has crazy powerful desktop Ryzens to pair with just an RTX 2060. Seems unbalanced and too expensive. Metabox Prime-S is well specced. HP Omen is way too expensive. If waiting 6 months doesn't bother you, there is your answer.Rumor is there will be an RTX 3050 this time.

When the CDPR statement on only supporting Nvidia at launch was initially released, RDNA2 cards barely even existed, no one had them, and we were still working with a November release date for CP2077 that preceded the RDNA2 launch. I'm confused as to how people expected CDPR to commit to having support for an architecture they hadn't touched, and for GPUs that at the time weren't even going to be in consumer hand when the game launched. The thing is, if anything they've had RT capable Nvidia GPUs in their hands for literal YEARS longer than they have AMD's. Don't tell me they've never touched a Turing GPU. If anything, the Nvidia RT should be far more ready for the spotlight that that for which the GPUs aren't even on the market. But marketing says....

Thread I can't see 120HZ /FPS. How about you?
The thing about 120Hz+ is that you have to live with it for a while. Like have a 120Hz display where is 120Hz, even just browsing, moving the mouse around, browsing the internet. Then go back to 60Hz and you'll immediately see the difference.I've been living on a 240Hz/3ms display for a year now. Let me tell you, there is absolutely a difference. 120fps on the Blur Buster test isn't quite stuttering but it looks subpar. The screen is so damn fluid that I am spoiled. Of course only indie type game run over 200fps, buy goddamn is it special. Even playing something like Slay the Spire feels nice because it's so much mouse movement and the card movement and screen animations are all at 240fps. I just had to survive on a 60Hz display for a month and whew it was I just got my main laptop (i7-9700K + RTX 2080 desktop replacement monster) back two days ago and now I'm back in 240Hz heaven. I have them side by side and Jesus the difference between 60Hz and 240Hz is jarring.

How high is your CPU usage during the stuttering? I read someone's comment on Youtube that they had constant stutters in Death Stranding with the 4690K, which were alleviated completely when they used a Ryzen 5 2600. If performance isn't improving even when lowering setting, that pretty much points to the CPU. You're better off more GPU load in that case. Lowering settings just puts more on the CPU.

I feel like we're completely ignoring how PC GPUs age. Running today's games at high fidelity 60fps is not the same as expecting it from what is releasing 5 years from now. Even the RTX 3080 won't last forever. Are you willing to accept medium settings for your 60fps, or do you expect the fantasy of no compromises to actually come to fruition? PC gamers make the choice of dropping setting as their systems age, while we've never seen console developers willing to offer such a thing. Which do you think they'll sacrifice first, framerate or image quality? It's a self-evident reality, why consoles have been stuck at 30fps in the first place. We haven't even seen next-gen games yet. Demon's Souls is a great -, but is far from a plated course. The realities of console gaming will return. Sorry to be a downer.

Sorry, I can't argue how a high framerate doesn't benefit a 3rd person video game with constant movement. It's not even all about combat. You are constantly walking/running around environments and moving the camera. The temporal resolution is always a factor. It's silly to even debate this. High framerates improve every genre on the market outside of maybe visual novels. Metro Exodus is still the best glimpse of RT really changing the environment, the future. DLSS slights are absolute madness though. Those people are on something. "It's not perfect." Yeah but neither is TAA, that's the whole point, without even getting into the performance boosts. I'm really hoping AMD's Super Resolution and DirectML open the door for developers to support both company's solutions across the board, regardless of marketing deals. Thread PSA: LG CX OLED TV's are on sale today for great prices in the US
God the 55" at $1349.99 is so tempting, especially as I'm working from home, but I feel like I should not rush and wait until 2021 as way more HDMI 2.1 sets will be on the market. Plus I really need the 48" as I'm not sure if the 55" will fit on my TV stand. Honestly if I didn't just miss 3 months of work I'd probably say eff it. The 4K/120Hz G-Sync issues are making me feel better about waiting though.

Thread AMD Radeon™ RX 6000 Reveal |OT| Hey. Listen! Choo! Choo!
You have no valid issue. I've explained this. Drawing logical conclusions is fair game on a discussion board. The 3090 is now completely out of pocket. Nvidia can't even drop the price this soon as they are actively fulfilling orders. BUT, the RT performance comparison between the 6900 XT and RTX 3090 could tell an entirely different story. What if the 3090 just bulldozes the 6900 by some ridiculous percentage?

Thread AMD Radeon™ RX 6000 Reveal |OT| Hey. Listen! Choo! Choo!
RT is such an important part of the stack moving in the present and the future. It's fair for people to question AMD when they hold an entire conference on new GPUs, proudly show graphs with comparisons to Nvidia, but wholesale gloss over the RT performance. This shouldn't need to be explained as not being concern trolling. Drawing preliminary conclusions pending benchmarks is above board.

Thread Wanna know why Star Citizen is taking so long?
I look at that and think, how many people will want their gameplay experience to be standing idly at a station like some Star Trek red shirt? Chris Roberts is layering complexity on top of complexity with no regard for fun. He wants space to become like real life, but fuck booting up a game to do a 9 to 5 dude. This is the perfect example of an over developed waste of resources. And he's probably scrapped it and had them reiterate countless times. Wanna know why Star Citizen is taking so long? Pure unadulterated madness.

Thread MS: A Closer Look at How Xbox Series X|S Integrates Full AMD RDNA 2 Architecture
This seems like Microsoft can technically claim this because of their default DirectX API integration, but Sony could very well have worked with AMD for their own implementations of the same technologies that leverage the architecture, but they just can't use the DirectX/PC platform buzzwords. We'll see.

I have them organized in freezer bags by what type of cord: audio/headphone/AUX, USB, or power related. I used to have them in one huge jumbled mess that was threatening to become sentient, and one day I got extreme anxiety while trying to find the one I needed.

Thread AMD's supersampling "DLSS" solution won't be ready in 2020. What effect do we think this had on XSX/PS5 development?
If AMD had any kind of cores on board, they'd have said it explicitly, and those studying the die would know by now.. It's not like reviews aren't out.

Thread Capcom: DMC5SE supports ray tracing on Series X, not on Series S
Checkerboarded from what resolution? 1080p was likely the only way Capcom could guarantee a solid 120fps in all game modes. I own an RTX 2080. I can't hold a rock solid 120fps at 1440p. It baffles me, how unrealistic some of you are about the power of these consoles.

I don't know that AMD having better performance in some games had anything to do with console optimizations, and I'd never seen any reviewer claim as much. The S2716DG has a G-Sync module right? That means no VRR with AMD GPUs.

All of the benches being shown with Smart Access enabled puts asterisks on everything. We'll have to wait for professional reviews with Intel based systems. I hate to be that guy but it is what it is.The "AMD optimizations from consoles" bit was proven to fall flat with this past generation, no? I don't recall any hand me downs translating to PC.

I should have held onto my 1070 laptop. Upgraded to a 2080 for Cyberpunk then it got delayed, twice. Fuck. It's been a huge upgrade and I don't regret it in the end, but I would've love a crystal ball back then. Now I hold the 2080 and wait for the RTX 4080.

Thread Roguelike - Embrace the dnmRoa
I have played it a little bit but haven't really tried to learn the game. First run made the mistake of trading my legs for some kind of hover platform without enough energy. Second run I had a pretty good set up, but messed with a terminal and accidently set off some alarm and got swarmed. Oops.I've been keeping track of it. I'll see how it is once it comes out of EA, but Jupiter Hell is far more shallow than what I'm seeking.

And its GPU does support and be able to do ray tracing, in . You just shouldn't be surprised when a game that pushes the Series X to 1080p is a non-starter on the Series S. There is no deception at play in the marketing.

So an with Max ray tracing on Turing GPUs. I see nothing with which to be disappointed, assuming the real game reflects the benchmark and it completely fugazi like Horizon Zero Dawn's.

You seem completely ignorant to how demanding native 4K resolution is, still. We have not reached the point where GPU rasterization has surpassed the demands of 3840 x 2160, especially not in open world games.

As always in modern open world games, the Ultra preset will have some specific setting that is tanking the framerate by 20-30%, and lowering it will barely affect visuals while massively improving the framerate.

There's no need to spend more than $50-$75 on a DAC when your headphones don't justify the expenditure. You don't need a separate DAC and Amp to drive the HD 599, it's overkill. Wait to find out what is compatible and spend on the low end.
