Thread Will Gamepass be on Playstation 5 sometime during this generation?
I don't see how it makes sense for either party, honestly. I can't see Sony wanting another platform holder's subscription on their platform; for one, the games in Game Pass that aren't Xbox exclusive will already be on Playstation and generating licensing fees for Sony. So they wouldn't really be interested in having those games come to their platform via GP instead (even if they were getting 30% of GP subs on PS). On the MS side... if the average consumer had a choice between getting an Xbox that offers most 3P stuff plus all MS 1P stuff, or a Playstation that offers most 3P stuff, all PS 1P stuff *and* all MS 1P stuff... who would buy an Xbox? Only the most diehard Xbox fans would stick with the platform, their hardware market share would plummet, and they'd lose a ton of the 3P licensing income from millions of Xbox console owners making the switch, as well as accessory sales and a big chunk of all the subscription stuff - not just GP, but XBL Gold, too. I just don't see how it makes sense for anyone, really.

God, I can't wait for this. Got the White Snow edition on order too, eeee. I hope I don't get too fixated on the new arrangements; I listen to the original soundtrack often, so those songs are really ingrained in my mind. Also, Kaine's new face looks a lot better here than in the recent gameplay video.

I know a bunch of people have replied, but it's because it's an excellent, excellent game. I am a huge FF fan, and XIV is in my top three in the series at this point. I play on PC, but I'd love to have it on Xbox, too. Also, the original release was 2010. It was a disaster, and was completely relaunched as A Realm Reborn (FFXIV 2.0) in 2013, and has garnered nothing but critical acclaim since.Well, we did get BB on Xbox One... :( Still an absolute crime we didn't get Centralfiction.

Thread AC Unity vs. AC Syndicate. Which one is better?
Unity, for my money. I genuinely think it's underrated, and Paris is amazing. I expected to love Syndicate; being from London, all I'd ever wanted was an AC set here. Maybe I was just getting a bit worn out on AC games by that point, but I found it a bit boring and struggled to get through it. It felt like the mechanics were really starting to wear out as well, and I don't think I've ever got stuck on bits of scenery in an AC game as much I did in that one. It felt like I was constantly getting snagged on and glued to every incidental bit of geometry. Evie was pretty great, but I ended up mostly disappointed by it.

That's pretty cool. I discovered recently that, if I have the Series X controller plugged into my PC via USB, then yank the cable out, it will turn on my Xbox. Which is, actually, a bit of a pain in the bum, heh. I've had to start pulling out a battery before I unplug the controller :D

Thread What do you think of RGBs on PCs?
My PC has some RGB. There's a tiny bit on my board, which is honestly so hard to see it's almost pointless (it basically just illuminates part of the mobo tray which is... why? You can't see it!), there's a tiny, tiny bit on my GPU (literally just the Gigabyte lettering), and then I have a Wraith Prism cooler. I never see any of that, because the only side of my PC I see is the front. All my fans are RBG though (3 front, 1 rear), and I just have them locked on a cool blue colour. That's enough for me. I don't mind some bits and pieces on my actual PC lighting up, but I fail to see the appeal of it on accessories. Those get turned off (especially the rings on my headset, I can't even see those, what's the point!?).

Thanks! I bought an SSD for back compat games yesterday (Crucial MX500), so it's running off of that. I might move it over later and see if it makes a difference.I don't know the answer to that, but it does still look really good in performance mode. So if there are cutbacks, they must've been pretty smart about it.

Oh boy. I must apologise in advance for the self-dunk I am about to commit. Now. In my defense (because someone has to defend me!), I was playing the game at about 2am last night. But I went into the options menu, saw the performance mode at the bottom, and assumed I'd already set it at some point when I tried the game out on One X a while ago (as I mentioned earlier, I played the game originally on PC, but someone gifted me an Xbox copy last Christmas, so I'd had a quick look at that version back then). I assumed that it'd carried my settings across, and that as it said "performance mode", it must have been on. Otherwise it would have said "quality mode" or something, right?? No. It's a toggle. No wonder it looked better and felt more juddery than I was expecting. Palm is now firmly attached to face, and I should not try these things out in the early hours of the morning. (and yes, for the avoidance of doubt, it feels great in performance mode. Ahem)

Forgive me if this has been discussed already, but has anyone tried Fallen Order? I did the opening up to partway to the vault on Bogano last night and it didn't quite feel as smooth as I was expecting..? I was on performance mode, with motion blur disabled... I don't know if it's just not quite hitting 60 or if there's some uneven frame pacing, but it felt a bit off to me. As an aside, I wonder if it'll get an update on the new consoles. I played it at release on PC via EA Play Premium or whatever it's called now, and was able to run it pretty much maxed out at 4K/60, and it'd be really nice to get closer to that on console (though to be fair, it still looks really good at 1080p, so it's not a deal breaker). I know EA didn't mention it when they recently talked about their games that would be getting upgrades, but it's still a pretty recent game, and sold gangbusters.

So, I'm probably being a big ol' dummy here, but I could use some help. After watching DF's external storage video, I decided to pick up a SATA SSD for back compat titles (grabbed a Crucial MX500 as it was on sale) and the SATA/USB3 bridge linked to from the DF video description. I plugged it into the Series X. Nothing happened. I connected it to my PC and created a new NTFS volume and named it (though I didn't give it a drive letter), then tried it again on the console. Still not showing. I've tried all the USB ports on the console (including the one I had my old 2TB external HDD from the XBO plugged into) to no avail. I just deleted the volume I created and tried it again in the console and it still won't see it. Obviously I'm doing something wrong. Can anyone help?

Thread Reevaluating Final Fantasy XIII-2
I have a big soft spot for XIII-2. The story is complete nonsense, but the main duo of Serah and Noel are really likeable, and genuinely upbeat in the face of the end of the universe. Peppy jrpg protagonists may not be the freshest idea in the world, but coming from the previous game's fairly dour cast it was a lovely change of pace. It was a lot easier though, and one of the things I liked about XIII's combat (building up the chain gauge to stagger an enemy, before switching paradigms and going all out attack) was almost gone in the sequel - a lot of the time, the enemy would be dead before you could stagger them.

He hasn't given me any boss tips, as I want to figure them out for myself and solo them, but he gave me some, I guess, starter tips like the things you've mentioned. I beat Lautrec earlier, that took a few attempts. I've also had a few pokes at Ornstein & Smough, just to feel out the fight, rather than expecting to beat it. Last run I had, I beat Ornstein, then Smough spun up in the air and sat on me. My pace has definitely dropped since reaching Anor Londo; those archers have soured me a bit, so even though I'm past them, I just haven't been playing the game as much, and it feels like my progress has stalled a bit. I might play something else for a few days and come back to it.

I started just running past the enemies on the way back to the archers after a while, which, honestly, probably just added to my frustration; I'd occasionally get hit by one of those winged enemies and get knocked to my death and have to start again. . So then when I made it to the archers just to immediately die... there was certainly some rage there. I did try going for the left knight a few times, and did manage to kill that one a couple of times. But, again, it seemed like a bit of a crapshoot. I would try to circle around him to get lower on the platform and a few times, even when I was basically right up in their face, the knight wouldn't switch to the sword, and just arrowed me off the side of the platform. Drove me legitimately mad.

Congrats! Yeah, my issue was that I just couldn't stay up there to fight the right knight without the left one shooting me in the back. As I say, I think I basically just got lucky that he didn't bother that one time. Genuinely felt like pure chance.Yeah, my main cause of death during the Iron Golem fight was accidentally rolling off the platform. Wasn't a hard fight at all when I just stayed in the middle and kept under/slightly behind him. Can't imagine what it would have been like with explosive boulders raining down, though! The archers has easily been the most frustrating part for me. Sen's is a bit sadistic, but basically trial and error, but this seemed like 90% luck. And yeah, I always heard about Blighttown being awful, but I didn't mind it. I guess the main thing was the frame rate. Poor performance probably made it a lot easier to get knocked off ledges (not that I didn't fall a few times myself, haha).Yeah, I think I'll definitely need a break in between the games, though I am curious to see the progression of the series over the last decade. Who knows, maybe by the time I'm ready to play Bloodborne it'll have been updated for PS5 (and I'll have the console).

Made it past the archers (late) last night. I think I was stuck on that one part for well over an hour, and I honestly think I basically got lucky getting past it, as I did exactly the same strategy a handful of times beforehand and it just didn't work. Basically, I decided to ignore the knight on the left and try and parry and knock down the right archer. I parried him twice, and thankfully he fell off when getting up the second time. That didn't happen before, even when I parried him in the on the ledge. Also, the left knight decided to ignore me on my victorious run - previously, he had moved up his ledge and shot me in the back after I got the second parry in, and knocked me off. I'm not gonna lie. That section very nearly soured me on the entire game. I was genuinely very, very close to uninstalling the game in a storm of swear words. I have a habit of looking up boss strategies after I beat them (I guess to see if I properly figured it out?), and apparently that giant can throw boulders into the boss arena if you don't kill it first!?

It's certainly a nice visual change of pace. Also, I now understand what people meant when talking about Code Vein ripping off Anor Londo :DHa, thanks! I got to the bonfire and left it for now, getting through Sen's Fortress was enough for one day. Well... that's a bit of a lie. Before that, I ran past all the enemies, in search of a bonfire, hoarding my 41,600 souls, accidentally stepped onto and then activated a lift instead, and then panic-rolled off of the life to my doom. Luckily I was able to reclaim my souls and get to the (very close!) bonfire. Thanks! And congrats for your recent completion too :) Yeah, I have to admit, in the years since it came out I have found the whole "git gud" thing a tad obnoxious. I think that's kind of highlighted now a bit, given what I mentioned in the OP and what you've echoed here, that it's more about being patient, observant and methodical. I guess it kind of started off as a playful thing, and then just got used so much that it seemed a bit obnoxious, I don't know. I do think the "git gud" sentiment does have a lot of potential to put people off though.Did you kill the giant thing throwing boulders? After I killed that, it made the run from the bonfire to the boss completely trivial. I guess it doesn't really matter now that you're past it though! It's kind of impressive how quickly you get used to the areas and the challenges they contain. First time I tried to enter Sen's Fortress the lizardmen backed me all the way up to the bonfire as I slowly poked away at them. After that, I immediately got knocked off the first swinging blades platform because of the mage lizard thing. By the time I got to the roof, I was easily getting past everything, when just an hour or so before it seemed completely impossible. In the spirit of that, I would like to offer up: "git perseverant"

God, I don't think I'd blame anyone rage quitting at Capra. The first five or six times I tried that fight, I just got cornered in the doorway and immediately killed because of those dogs. The final attempt, I think I basically just got lucky in getting past them and then ran up the stairs. I didn't waste that luck! Yeah, I think you're onto something there. Fallen Order is definitely a very stripped-down version of this, but the combat can be very similar when you get down to it, and I guess that just got me in the right mindset. Although I was able to parry pretty much everything in Fallen Order, but fail it nine times out of ten here. I guess the timing is a lot tighter. More practise needed! As for trying a new build, I guess that's what NG+ is for?I think there's something in that, yeah. It also helps that I managed to really avoid any spoilers over the last nine years - pretty much all I knew about Dark Souls (outside of the opening hours that I'd played previously) was the memes, so there's still plenty to discover for myself. Thanks! Thread LTTP: Dark Souls (Remastered, PC)
I've been playing Dark Souls Remastered the last few days, and I think I finally get it. Some background: I have played some Dark Souls before. I own the Xbox 360 Limited Edition, which I pre-ordered back in 2011, because I remembered reading all the excited import impressions for Demon's Souls a couple of years prior. I guess that chatter didn't excite me enough to try out Demon's when it eventually made its way west, but I decided the spiritual successor sounded right up my alley: I like RPGs, I like dark fantasy, what could go wrong? So I played it. I found it frustrating and opaque. I had no idea what any of the enigmatically-described items did, and I hated inching forward for hours at a time, only to get flattened by some new enemy. In around ten hours, I made it as far as the Undead Parish Church, and got flattened again by a huge knight, and that was it. I quit. But the game kept kind of gnawing away at me for years. I watched it become a huge phenomenon and felt like I'd missed out. I didn't get it then, but maybe I would if I gave it another go? In the run up to the release of Dark Souls 2, I bought the Prepare to Die edition on Steam, and tried again. I didn't even get as far as that church this time, and quit again after only a couple of hours. I decided I'd given it my best shot, and that was it. It obviously just wasn't for me, and I wouldn't try again. So why have I been utterly absorbed by it these last few days, sticking about three hours a day, every day, into the game since Christmas Eve? Well, I recently replayed Jedi: Fallen Order; I loved that game back at release last year, adored it all over again this time out, and it put me in mind to try some other games that required a bit of thought and patience. I have a friend who is a huge fan of the Souls games, so I asked him what a decent starting point might be for someone who is basically a newcomer to the genre, and he suggested Code Vein, as it was about to enter Game Pass. I had been playing that for a couple of weeks, until the last few days, and quite enjoying it (I think I might be about halfway?), but it really, made me want to go back to Dark Souls with fresh eyes. So I mentioned it to that same friend, and I guess he must have been like, "yes, got 'em!" because he then sent me a Steam code for Dark Souls Remastered as a Christmas gift. I started it immediately. And now? I am . I'm a tad under twelve hours in at this point, and I'm not finding it anywhere near as opaque as I had originally, let's be honest, it to be. It does help that my friend has explained a couple of concepts that I found utterly inscrutable last time out, such as humanity, but I've generally been finding that if I just engage with the systems that are there, I can pretty much figure things out for myself, and it's all a lot more straightforward than I had thought. My friend has also been giving me the odd general hint here and then, such as when I couldn't find the door to the Depths. He told me "instead of going left to Gollum, go right" (I had previously said "I think I just met Gollum" when I found the moss vendor), and then told me, as I was about to venture down, "ember near the butcher." He's being deliberately vague so as not to spoil anything for me, and he won't volunteer any (vague!) information unless I ask, which I appreciate, given how much of the game's allure comes from pushing forward and exploring the unknown. As for where I am in the game, I've just beaten the Gaping Dragon and opened the door to Blighttown, and am sitting at just under 12 hours. As I mentioned above, I hadn't even made it to the Bell Gargoyles in ten hours the first time out, so I feel like I'm going at a pretty good pace. Also as mentioned, I've been doing around three hours a day since Christmas Eve, and have found myself getting into a rhythm of beating a boss a day: Taurus Demon fell on Christmas Eve, the Bell Gargoyles on Christmas Day, The Capra Demon on Boxing Day, and now the Gaping Dragon today. I'm also not really finding it frustrating at all this time. Imagine my surprise to find that Dark Souls isn't actually a hard, frustrating game, but just one that requires patience and observation. And, yes, a certain degree of perseverance, but it's certainly not a 'bash your head against the wall until something works' kind of thing. I guess I just wasn't in a patient frame of mind and willing to pay attention and learn when I had made my earlier attempts. This time out, I'm enjoying holding back, trying to work out a boss's attack patterns, and learning where I can get a few slashes in. The Gaping Dragon flattened me easily on my first two attempts, and then I beat him - with no more Estus left, mind - on my third attempt. I basically learned that fight in the second half of that third attempt - I'd whittled him down to half and used all my Estus, and then I took down the last half of his bar without getting hit. It was an amazing feeling when those famous words, "VICTORY ACHIEVED" appeared on my screen, and I felt like I could let out a breath I must've been holding for ten minutes straight. I am still kind of feeling my way through things; I wasn't really sure how far to push upgrading my gear, as often in the early game of an RPG there's little reason to do so and risk wasting materials when you'll probably find a better weapon five minutes later. But here, I'm still using the longsword I picked up in the first hour of my game. My friend was slightly alarmed that I went down to fight the Gaping Dragon with just a +3 longsword (it did take a while to whittle him down, to be fair!), but I've since gone back to the blacksmith and pushed it up to +6 using that ember I found along the way, and I think I might farm some souls to upgrade my armour too, before I dive into Blighttown properly. I was also kind of flailing around a bit with my stats for a few levels, including putting some into INT thinking it'd improve my fireball (I'm playing Pyromancer), or sticking some into RES thinking it'd give me better survivability, but which I now gather is basically a pointless stat. But for the last ten or so levels I've been mainly dumping them into VIT, DEX and END. I like being quite fast and mobile, so I guess it's DEX weapons for me. My friend told me I could get a good one by murdering a vendor, but I've decided not to, at least for now... So yeah, I guess tl;dr I now get Dark Souls and think it's amazing, and I didn't need to "git gud" - I just needed to get patient and get observant. Also, I should probably take this opportunity to apologise to the rest of mod staff because I've been playing so much Dark Souls and not helping out modding as much as I should these last few days. Thread LTTP: Dark Souls (Remastered, PC)
So a short update. I killed the titanite demon earlier, so decided to go and see what he was guarding. I did a little bit of exploring around Darkroot Garden and Darkroot Basin, killed some crystal things (one of which dropped blue titanite), all the while getting water shot at me from something I couldn't see. I noticed a doorway and wondered where it led, and as I took the master key, I was able to open it. I curiously poked my head in, only to have it flattened by Havel. Oh. So where it leads! That's it for today though, it's late. Tomorrow though...

I wrote this up, realised it was 1200 words and thought, "no one is going to care about another 'I finally get Dark Souls!' thread." I had a lot rolling around my head the last few days though, so it's been good to get it down in words. Thanks! It only took me the better part of a decade! Never too late, though :)I feel like they're kind of the two main pillars of the game. Both are incredible, and both are essential parts of the experience.I do actually own Bloodborne - the setting really appeals. But I just think about playing it and I don't think I could deal with 30fps with uneven frame pacing. I was really hoping that PC rumour would turn out to be true, haha.Yeah, it has been really nice playing it at a higher frame rate. It does feel a lot better than my initial attempt on 360 did.

Yeah, I don't think a PC release is particularly likely, it always struck me as a wishful thinking kind of deal more than anything else. It'd definitely make sense for Sony to give it a once over for the PS5 given what a fan favourite it is. If they do, it'll be one more reason for me to pick up the console at some point. All I've ever heard over the years is about the terrible frame rate, so that's always been my impression of Blighttown, haha. From friends, I received: Mario Odyssey from one friend Control Ultimate Ed and Resident Evil 3R from another Star Wars Squadrons from another Gears 5 and Resident Evil 5 from a couple All of those were on my Amazon wishlist, so I just gave them a link. Two of them I bought games for, and for one I bought the World of Thedas II book (he already has book I), and for the couple I got them displates ( and ). Those three haven't opened their gifts yet, so I'm waiting on reactions, especially on the displates, I was almost tempted to keep them for myself :p Also, my Data Discs Shenmue II vinyl turned up yesterday, so I guess I can call that a Christmas present to myself!

I keep meaning to back those up, but I just never seem to get around to it.This doesn't invalidate your point at all, as it would be nice to be able to record longer clips, but just in case you aren't aware: if you plug an external storage device into the console, you can record clips up to an hour in length. The only AC game I've ever actually skipped is Revelations, I just couldn't take another Ezio game at that point. I did watch all the cutscenes on Youtube, however. I've had a couple of spells of catching up on the series - the one I mentioned in the run-up to Syndicate, and then the one I'm currently on, starting late last year to catch up on Syndicate, Origins and Odyssey. This time, I think I've paced it a lot better, but also, I've just really enjoyed the two ACOs a lot more. I've always really liked the series, but I much prefer the way it's structured now. Mainly because they're basically RPGs, and that's my genre.I mean, it's common sense :D It's never made any sense when people try to paint it as some GAAS hellscape. This would be great. More DONTNOD is always a good thing.Well... you're not wrong. The AC games do have an overarching plot though (as thin as it is these days), and well, I've made it this far, so I'd like to keep up to date (ish) with it. But there's also the fact that I generally prefer to play games in release order so that I can see how they change from one to the next. Some of my enjoyment in Odyssey at the moment is seeing how things have evolved since Origins. Obviously it helps that I'm really enjoying the game, too :D I've also become more relaxed about what I play over the last few years. I don't really get FOMO, and there's only a small handful of games that I absolutely have to be there for on day one. Anything else I can just pick up when I feel like it (hence why I'm in no massive rush to force myself through Odyssey before Valhalla comes out. I'll get to that when I get to it).Is that the actual box? It's so teeny!

As I said earlier, I basically swore off Ubisoft games for a while after trying Watch Dogs, but then they announced an AC set in London, which was all I ever wanted. So I played three of them in a year to catch up, and then when Syndicate came out, I didn't even care any more. I was so burned out. I played about six hours and just couldn't take any more. Though I must say, I'm quite enjoying going off the beaten path in Odyssey. The world is a marvel. I won't finish it this year (I'm 25 hours in since August!!), but I will finish it. I definitely will grab Valhalla at some point (because Vikings!), but it'll be a fair while after I've finished Odyssey. There's no way I could go straight from one AC game into another.Yeah, I've heard 2 was very different and worth playing, and I do actually own it. I was planning on playing through it at some point, but you know... backlogs... I also just can't play too many open world games a year, or I get burned out very easily. I think what's always put me off is that I didn't get all that far into the first one, and I figured there'd be call backs to that one that I wouldn't get, and I'm one of these people that doesn't like coming in partway through a series. Does it feel like an actual sequel to the first, or is it more 'similar themes in the same world, but fairly disconnected'?

This is basically where I sit with 5's story; it's not a bad story (I actually kind of like where it ends up, because it gives me some serious, "all of this has happened before, and it will all happen again" vibes), but it is poorly executed. I do wonder if it would have been better if they hadn't clearly cut things out of the game, but my main issue with 5 (and this is something they did much better in 4) is the character writing. They feel more like individuals with personal motivations in 4, whereas everyone in 5 is just there to move the story forward. They're where they are because that's where the story needs them to be.

I really hope 3-6 come to Xbox and PC soon!

Huh. I had no idea S;G0 came to Switch. I have the limited ed on PS Vita, but will probably double-dip.Just a heads up in case you miss out (I didn't know LR was doing Clannad either!), but I believe the JP release is in English..? I'm sure someone can confirm or deny that, but I'm sure I remember reading that was the case - I've been meaning to import a copy for a while.

I was reading this thinking, "but Halloween is ages away, who knows if it'll still be in Game Pass then..?" before swiftly realising, holy smokes, it's August, isn't it. I probably looked like my avatar. This year has been A Thing.

Quick Q: Can I use rewards credit on hardware on the MS store? I have ~18k points atm (decided to stop blowing them on £5 gift cards and let them build up for a bit), and am thinking of putting some credit towards an Elite Series 2 in the next month or so if possible. I only ask, because I had some credit in my account in the run-up to Christmas and wanted to use it against the Bleeding Edge longsleeve on the Xbox Gear store, but it didn't allow me to. Should also point out I'm in the UK, in case there are different rules in different regions.

Thread Is The Witcher 2 still worth playing?
Absolutely worth playing. I think the only one I'd caveat these days is TW1, but it's also still worth playing. It might even be worth playing just to hear Believe play over the end credits :D TW2 is an excellent, excellent game. I would say maybe read up on the plot (or look for YouTube summaries?) of 1 though. There will be characters in 2 that will feel like old friends I've you've experienced 1 first.

Thanks, that's what I thought from the videos I've been looking at. Damn shame there isn't a long domed stick for the v2, but I've ordered the controller anyway. Hopefully I can find a third party one somewhere down the line. Oh and the grip ridges are new, the v1 just had a smooth dome.

Thanks, but it's specifically the domed tall stick I'm after - from what I've seen, the domed stick that comes with the Series 2 is short. As for the bumpers, the Series 1 has the same issue that the original standard controllers have, in that they just have a plastic pivot piece that will just eventually snap. It might be that they fixed this with the newer standard controllers anyway.

Hello! I have a question. I'm probably going to pick up one of these in the next couple of weeks, but I use the tall domed stick for my right stick on my current Elite, and after watching some videos, I see that the series 2 doesn't come with one. Does anyone know if there are any good quality third party replacements out there that can replicate my current series 1 experience? Also, are the bumpers more hardwearing? I've already fixed my LB once, and it's recently broken again :(

I think some would skip, but I don't know if it'd be that many. I would personally absolutely love to have a playable version of DOA2 again, after my DC died :( But I'd still be buying 6.Also, I said 'before 6' as I thought it'd be a nice way to get people hyped for the new game, by celebrating its history on Xbox. But I'll still be over the moon if they come months from now :)

I really enjoyed Hydrophobia at release, and was a bit sad that it never got a continuation. I also remember getting very confused trying to find my way around Durandal's levels. I really wish we could get all the DOA games back-compat before 6 comes out. We could have the entire series playable on XBO!!

Definitely agree re: fighting for exclusives, and yeah, that'd be a decent outcome. I guess I'm just worried if one company owned both, the acquired one (in this case, the one I vastly prefer) would just get merged/effectively shut down.Yeah, it just occurred to me that maybe they wouldn't want to offer such differing services in different regions. As someone who subs to Crunchyroll in the UK for £6.50 a month, it'd kind of suck if someone in the States, who only wanted the anime catalogue, had to sub to HBO Max instead for... *checks*... $14.99. On the other hand, if someone is already subbed to both, they'd probably welcome the anime catalogue getting rolled into their existing sub.

I definitely agree Sony makes sense, I'm just coming from a perspective of being a years-long subscriber of Crunchyroll who really hasn't enjoyed the experience any time they've had to use Funi. I've used a few trials to watch a couple of specific things, but it's never made me want to sub. So I guess for me, the worry is Sony buy Crunchy, effectively move everything into Funi and then migrate Crunchy customers over to that, which I would hate. If they wanted to do the opposite and keep Crunchy running instead, I'd probably be ok with it. As for rolling Crunchyroll into HBO Max, I would hazard a guess that Crunchy is available in more countries, and so it just made sense to keep them as separate entities? I honestly don't know where HBO is available, but I don't think it's here in the UK, while Crunchyroll has been available for years.

I did go and check Amazon after your first reply (last checked a few days ago and it was unavailable) and saw it was back up for £24, so ordered a copy and requested a cancellation from Squenix. Seems they've given me a credit note, which isn't ideal, but /shrug

Thanks. I actually had it pre-ordered with Amazon for months (at the £30 price), and cancelled it a few days before release because I had an email giving me a new date in August. So I cancelled, ordered at the SE store instead (where I got all the others from anyway), paid extra because of the shipping... and now the revised Amazon date has come and gone T_T I should've just left it haha.

So here's a thing. Last night I was looking at quests to complete, and thought I'd see if there's a couple of quick achievements I could knock off in The Witcher 3. I became rather confused when I clicked through to the store page, then the game hub, and checked my achievements, to see I barely had any. I remembered that I didn't play a great deal of vanilla TW3, and instead double-dipped on the GOTY versions and completed that. I didn't realise they had separate achievement lists - I don't double dip very often at all, and just assumed it'd be the same list. Is this standard practise? Anyway, my question: does anyone know if achievements earned in the GOTY version will count towards that quest? Anyone tried it?Wow, I should have read up ! /idiot

Sentiment has changed a bit over the years. People were at the time, but now Thel's a fan favourite. About the ending; I wasn't mad at the time, I just remember thinking, "oh, that's a bit abrupt." I eventually came to love the ending (on subsequent playthroughs, post-Halo 3, at least). I find it pretty hype-inducing these days: "Master Chief, you mind telling me what you're doing on that ship?" "Sir. Finishing this fight." CUE MUSIC.

I think I played a good twenty hours of Yakuza 0 over Xcloud and it was great. The input lag was about as bad as playing a game on a TV with no game mode which, while not ideal, is something I was able to adapt to fairly quickly. I really like this as a value add to my existing GP Ultimate sub, I have to say. It's going to come in really handy.

I subbed to EA Access in the run-up to Dragon Age Inquisition's launch, as you got to play it early. I then stayed subbed for over a year even though I didn't play anything on it, because I'm an idiot and kept forgetting to cancel it /o\ I imagine that kind of behaviour is much more common than many think :D

Chronological order would be Reach, CE, 2, 3, 4, 5 (and then you can slot ODST in between 2 and 3, as it kind of takes place during both, but the event that begins it happens partway through 2). Release order would have Reach between 3 and 4 and might feel better from a gameplay progression stand point (it may be hard for some to go straight from 2010's Reach to 2001's CE). If you want to add in the RTS games, Halo Wars 1 takes place before any of the above, and Wars 2 shortly after Halo 5.
