Still waiting for mini modulars series 2...
The only modular I owned was the fire station, but that changed recently as I bought the detective agency. It's a really fun build. Also tempted by the Diner.

No, I just thought you somehow got given that as a gift set this year, which would have been a bit odd.
Speaking of odd, it is indeed an odd set. Even if you did try to add water so the "snow" pieces floated, it would all leak out.
ThreadLEGO ERA |OT| Rebuilding One Brick at a Time.
I used to buy the Winter sets every year (sometimes being the only set I'd buy), but I've not bought the two train sets.
I've put the previous ones all out to display. They look really good all together.Wasn't that "snowglobe" from last year?Wow. I had that set too! Which is funny since I"m pretty sure it's older than me.
Lego sets seemed to hang around longer then.
ThreadLEGO ERA |OT| Rebuilding One Brick at a Time.
Wow thanks. That's even better.
All I really wanted was some loose bricks to play with since a lot of my old pieces are packed away and I often find with sets I just build and display.
ThreadLEGO ERA |OT| Rebuilding One Brick at a Time.
Hi, haven't posted in the Lego community for a long time, mostly because my spending on it has decreased dramtically.
I see it's Brick Friday again. Just wondering which of these are the better deal: 1000 bricks for £40 790 bricks for £32
When you work out the price per brick, there's very little difference, with the £40 set working out a fraction cheaper, but perhaps the cheaper set has more special pieces.

To celebrate maybe they can give some Snake Pass Switch codes for the GiftBox giveaway. ;)To give it some credit, with the album art comparison oft given in this thread, this would work well as a minimalist cover. It helps that it has good composition rather than just being a zoom in on a face with the main focus being off centre.

Interesting to hear their was blowback back then. I can understand wanting conformity but they did it is such an awful way. I think only Ocarina of Time managed to make it work and that's only cos the main illustration had a black background so you don't really think about the black border (I admit, I rather like the solid gold logo on black look). The fact the "Only For" sticker isn't even in the corner of the box, but the illustration shows how silly it was.
Those later design do look much better. Shame there's literally no fixed design between them apart from those the icons on the righthand side. Even the word "PAL" jumps around ha ha
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
When we get a N64 Classic hopefully homebrew will be a lot easier since there's a lot less custom chips to worry about so the stock emulator should hopefully run a fair decent number of games.
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
Nice work.
No idea what I'll do for the PAL N64 boxes as, unlike the SNES designs, I have less nostalgia for those designs.
And when you look at what we got for many games:
The results weren't great. I don't know if someone at NoE was trying to be funny by giving the boxes big black borders to reflect the poor 50Hz conversions we'd get.
Cropping out the black borders might be the easiest.

I've not updated to CE either, but that's because I'm sticking with what I have on the system before looking into adding more.
The only CE feature I like the look of is the easy editing of the cover art for the original games. I do recall there is a way around that with 2.21f so you don't have to make a copy of each one. Maybe I should try and find that again whenever I go contemplate making some changes to my setup.

Yeah, gave it a quick go and, as you say, it's so small rerizing you own logo is going to come out pixely too. Best option would be to erase it completely if you don't like it. Though, if you like the logo there, at least for PAL system, one advantage of editing that file is moving the logo up one pixel so it doesn't overlap the light grey line.
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
Had a go at making my first border today. It's based off of a show called Pop Team Epic where the show itself has scenes referencing a variety of games all with a SNES Classiceque border.
Since it makes sharing it easier, I've uploaded all my files to a Google Drive:
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
Well I already had a Windows partition on my Mac so it was pretty straightforward for me.Is hosting them in a Google Drive preferable? If so, I'm happy to set one up. At the moment they're just as you see them, imgur links on Era.

I manually coloured in the art found from the Nintendo JP site. I'll PM them to you after maintenance. (they look a bit scruffier when not shrunk down). Not yet, but I'll make a note to do it. Googling for some resources I notice one could just crop the official soundtrack for it for a pretty much ready to go square icon.
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
Well, since I had Photoshop open, I decided to make "square" icons for all the games that I made my own logos for. It was a pretty quick task since I basically had all the layers already.
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
So with all the recent developments around Marvelous, I thought I'd celebrate my making some boxart for it.
And since I was in the mood I put something together for Super Famicom Wars ()
Then I realised there was some boxart I never shared that I made a while back.
Basically since I had to make my own clean version of the Bullet Proof Software logo for the Spike McFang box, I decided to throw together the Yoshi's Cookie box even if it one of the laziest PAL box designs I've seen.
Oh, and just before Christmas asked if I could give NBA Give n Go a go so I gave it a go.
Now back to lurking as the more recent conversation is a bit over my head ha ha
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
It's 62 per folder. If you split your games between folders you can have more than that.
How many you can fit really comes down to how often you'll use save states, as those can eat up the space quickly if you're not careful.
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
They can be good for high-res versions of the cover art, but the box art itself is often mock-ups rather than scans:
For example, this PAL version of the F-Zero box is all sorts of wrong; from the odd white border, the wrong Seal of Quality (PAL had a more circular one compared to the more squashed NoA version), to the art being more cropped than the original.
Like I said, as a resource for the art on the cover the site is good, used it myself, but I have had to combine it with scans/photographs found elsewhere.
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
For NA boxes, is your best bet, though, since they are full scans, they require cropping.
For JPN and European boxart, you'll have to hope someone has made some nice art already. I've been working on European (UK specifically) art myself. .
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
Having never heard of Metal Warriors, I looked it up and saw it was another game that never came to Europe. Being curious, wondered if I could find a list of games that did come out in the States (i.e. in English) but never had a European release. Thankfully, such a list does exist:
That's a lot of games! Don't see myself making box art for all that ha ha.
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
If you're starting from scratch you'll need to flash the custom kernel too. See the OP for instructions.
If you've already done all that, yep, it's just a case of adding games to Hakchi, plugging in your SNES and syncing it.
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
Only thing I'd add is you'll probably want to choose to dump the factory kernel first, as this is basically the safest way to avoid bricking the system. Basically, if anything were to go wrong, flash back to factory settings and your SNES will act like you've not done a thing to it. See the OP of this thread for more details.
As for Mac, well hakchi is a Windows only application, so you'll need a way to run Windows for it. I personally dual boot so I just run a native Windows environment, but others have used a virtual machine version of Windows with no problems.
I also notice he doesn't really cover the problem of thumbnails going off the screen if you add too many games. For that you'll need to find the games folder if your Hakchi directory and manually replace the thumbnail image files for each game with smaller images.
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
Nice work. Though there is an alternative PC cover that has Godzilla on the cover that you could replace with Bowser which also has the appropriate button pressed down.Nintendo themselves were selling it on Black Friday.
But this is a hacking thread, not a complain about Nintendo thread.
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
Yeah, but they only seem to have scans of American boxes. Not much use for me.
I've found using photos from eBAY UK is a good way to double check how certain elements align as the reconstructions often fall victim to common mistakes like using the wrong version of the Super Nintendo logo or Seal of Quality.
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
Had a request for some art sent to me via Twitter, so I'm happy to oblige.
They also sent me this link to a website they found with high res boxart:
Though it does seem a lot of the art is actually reconstructions rather than high quality scans.
But still, it should be useful for cover illustrations from PAL covers.
Also, what was Elite Systems thinking with those white outlines?
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
Yeah, Hakchi is the main application and Retroarch is an add-on.
Oh no, You can display the original ROMs just fine. I just meant, that the most Hakchi can do is hide them rather than outright delete them. When you run Hakchi you'll see them listed as the original 21 and you can untick them to hide them but the default is to display them. But no matter what you do, you can't accidentally delete them.

PAL region had a different bit of art, but it's still not that great.
Better than that CGI nightmare NA got though. Yikes.
(The first game had a really nice render on the cover. What happened?)
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
First time I've played around with the 3D tool in Photoshop. I feel the logo came out well.
Took a bit of liberty having the artwork for Live A Live go all the way to the right hand edge, but it looked weird having just a white border to one side.
EDIT: After looking at it for awhile, I felt the need to redo the Seiken Densetsu 3 logo
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
Applied my Panel De Pon design to my NA template with a few tweaks to make it closer to the NA version of the Tetris Attacks box (it was mainly the yellow dots that needed shifting)
EDIT2: For consistency, I re-did the Sutte Hakkun box so now the various elements align with each other. Since it was a late Nintendo game, it would have had the Only For logo after all.
I assumed people didn't really want age ratings on their boxes if it can be helped, so I kept the Seal of Quality in its place.
And some simple PAL boxes to add to the collection:
I already posted Super Pang, but I felt bored enough to add the NA title of Super Bang Bros to it since I had already done most of the hard work erasing the original logo already, I just never finished it. Mother 2 is for those who fancy using that MaternalBound patch for Earthbound (no idea if it works with the Classic).
EDIT: Noticed the colours were a little duller in the NA Panel de Pon, apparently I was working with a different colour profile. Fixed that.
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
I assume many simply make the art for the games they intend to play. I can't imagine many are as crazy as me and continue to make more than they need to.
Perhaps one should make an off-shoot of this thread just for various icon styles to try and encourage others to make more since I'm guessing many think this thread is just for hacking the SNES Classic itself and not the other little bits that are related to it like hacks and art.
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
Just seen that S.Korea used PAL style covers for some of their SNES games (or Super Comboy as it was known there).

Guess my tweaking to make my box art designs to say isn't so silly now ha ha.
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
Made a minor edit to my Tetris & Dr Mario box. Noticed that I some how forgot to clean away some of the creases from the scan I used. So if you're the one person in the world who has used this image, there's a slightly improved version in .
I often pick games based on popular mentions I see around since that gives me a good gist of what boxes are worth doing (no point in doing Zoop when no one wants to play it) so that's why I did Pocky and Rocky 2. But I thought I might as well do the first one to make things complete. Same thing with Pop'n Twinbee, did Rainbow Bell Adventures ages ago, might as well include the other Twinbee game that came out in Europe.
Nothing really interesting to say about Wario's Woods. I fancied doing it ha ha.
And then for fun I went with the 'what if' scenario for Panel De Pon. I saw someone had made a English patch for it so I gave it a go. These boxes are the most fun to do since I have complete creative control.
EDIT: Realised the Pop'n Twinbee art could use a little colour tweaking.
EDIT2: Made the pinks a bit brighter on Lip.

Well I finally got Super Mario All-Stars to work. Only thing I did differently was patch it with a Windows application (Lunar IPS) rather than the Mac OS (MultiPatch) one I sometimes use.

Well since there seems to no other fan made Sutte Hakkun designs (at least if I go by Google Image Search results), I thought I'd break my pattern of making only PAL designs, I copied the design over to a NoA template:
Luckily the NoA template and the nuNoE template share similar dimensions for the art area so it was more or less just a simple copy and paste.Thanks.
EDIT: Whoops. Noticed a tiny mistake that needed correcting.
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
Well the doc is more a reference for games people want to add. Since Yoshi's Island is a built-in game, people aren't going to be fussed to document it.
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
So to celebrate the recent English patch, I've put together a PAL box art design for Sutte Hakkun. Logo is based on the one from the patch.
Rather chuffed with how it came out considering the lack of art resources out there.
EDIT: Made a minor tweak.
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
Once you add a game and its cover art, hakchi will auto generate a thumbnail.
Navigate the games folder in the hakchi directory and for each game's folder you'll find the cover art image and the small thumbnail image. Basically replace the thumbnail file with whatever image you like. That's how some people have sprites as their thumbails rather than small boxart.
As for generating thumbnails, if your image manipulation application of choice has script/action support you can set up a batch action to go through a folder of images and shrink them and/or rotate them in one go.
Unfortunately, it takes a little while since hackchi generates a unique code for each game you add so there's no shortcut for giving your thumbnails the same name as the old thumbnail files. However, if you just want to rotate, you could copy the original thumbnails to a new location, run a script to rotate them and save with the same name and then copy them back to their original location choosing to replace the original, which saves needing to delete one file and then renaming another.

Had some resource files sitting on my desktop for a while so I decided to finally take a crack as a Ganpuru cover.

I was inspired by to make this box.
Since the game never came out in Europe I was free to choose which design to go with, so I thought I'd go with more true to its nature Japanese design. As an extra challenge I made my own Robotrek logo replicating the style off the Japanese box.
I think it came out well.
And since Enix seems to love to do it, I made sure the front of box blurb was nice and big ha ha.At the moment the easiest method is to use FTP to copy the built in games and then re-add them. Then hide the Original Games listing. This allows you to keep your saves since you'll be using matching names. If you select the Original Games listing you can disable them individually.
I believe someone on Reddit is working on a method that will allow you to change the art of the original games without needing to duplicate them.

So, since there was only three left to do, I thought I might as well finish the Super Play fantasy list. Yes, this did mean making a box for Uniracers even though it currently doesn't work, but I might as well complete the set. Did a few other games as well. Saw a request for Super Pang at so hopefully this is satisfactory (I kept the EU name in this case since they specifically said Super Pang rather than the American name of Super Buster Bros).

Tell me about it ha ha.
I've found eBay UK a good place to check what the art should look like since, more often or not, if you do find a nice clean version of PAL boxart, it's actually a Photoshop rather than a proper scan.
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
Well, I took quite a break from PAL boxing, but since Terranigma is now working, I thought I'd work on a few more games from the Super Play's fantasy article.
That Shadowrun art is quite something compared to the American release ha ha.
Wild Guns and R-Type III were a bit annoying in that they both shifted all the assets a bit, so don't quite follow the same template as other boxes. Since I'm trying to more or less re-create them so they are true to the original I did replicate this oddity which is why, for example, the Nintendo logo is smaller on the Wild Guns box.
ThreadSNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.
Looked up the PAL version of Yoshi's Cookie and it must have been a super rare release, with someone trying to sell just the manual for over £100 on eBay! (At least the game on its own is less than that).
But if you thought the American box art was boring, the PAL version is even lamer. It's just Chef Mario riding Yoshi on a solid blue background. It also suffers from 'all black box' syndrome.

Geno was a character he wanted to add because he always wanted to have a fighter with a gun for an arm. Mii Gunner ended up being that fighter, which is why the costume works for Geno.
On the other hand we know Rex would have some mechanic based around the driver/blade system so the Mii Sword Fighter base doesn't really do that justice.

Sequare Enix has hated music sharing for years now. You'd have websites hosted MP3s for every gaming tune you could imagine bar Square Enix games, because they were the one company to crack down on it.
Also there's a big difference between Nintendo having a legal agreement to use some DQ tunes in Smash and some unknown individuals sharing music files for free over the internet.

The greatest trick the devil played was convincing people Zombieland wasn't an idol anime.
Y'know, despite the concept being to save the region of Saga.
If you've watched idol anime, you realise they all come up with their own twists and gimmicks cos The pretty much took a firm grasp on "vanilla" idol show. Locodol = idols + regional mascots
Idol Incidents = idols + politics
Crane Game Girls = idols + how to win crane games
WUG Zoo = idol + perfection
Zombieland Saga = idols + zombies
Even Love Live, which many would likely see as "vanilla", has its own twist of being school based clubs removing any focus on the industry. The reality is, a lot of idol shows are off the wall silly, just like Zombieland, it's just no one ever gives them a chance.

Someone walking in off the street isn’t going to do well being blasted off in a rocket. 2. what the heck gacha has got to do with fishing.
Yes, gacha. They literally fish using the power of some gacha app on their phones. Is this a tie-in with something?
So we’re blessed with some science mumbo jumbo on how the soul works and apparently it’s a series of tubes. The soul is the Internet! Also we learn that Kawahara’s master plan to earn himself the title of history’s greatest author is to tarnish the literacy work of others. I’m looking forward to the next arc when Kirito enters the world of Oliver Twist.
From the get go I was planning to describe this as Twilight for the otaku crowd and then this happened.
You win this round anime!
It’s basically Kiniro Mosaic except with a vampire rather than a Blonde Brit. Like when the main character looks like Shino.
Uh oh, looks like a more serious show snuck into my playlist. Well, since it’s a slow burner it’s hard to say much based on the first episode. Might be cool.
I was worried this was going to be some edgy grimdark show depicting idols being attacked by zombies. Only watched it because I am the idol man. Luckily for me it’s actually just off the wall bananas.

Will I post even less in this thread as the one before? How the mighty has fallen. I don't even get to post the SAO thread. What's the point?
Also , you might want to report the OP of the previous thread and ask for it to be locked.
